Theme Of The Gilded Six Bits
In "The Gilded Six Bits," Zora Neale Hurston uses several different techniques to characterize Joe
and Missie May, the main couple throughout the short story. Hurston utilizes her own background to
describe Joe and Missie May and their marriage. She additionally demonstrates their character
improvement through her writing styles and techniques, which indicate responses and reactions
between Joe and Missie May to develop their relationship. Hurston supports her character
development through her written work style, her characters dialect, and encounters experiences from
her own life to depict a feeling of reality to her characters identities.
While the story is set in the south, we can relate it to how marriage becomes more difficult due to
the background they come from. One theme identified throughout the story was the institution of
marriage. In the beginning, Missie May and Joe seem to have it all in spite of the fact that they are
poor. Hurston describes their home by stating that "The fence and house were whitewashed. The
porch and steps scrubbed white," this shows us they had an easy way of interacting with one another
by how white symbolizes cleanness, peaceful and purity. Things start to become a little off, when a
newcomer Otis D. Slemmons comes into town. He comes in and threatens to ruin everything
between Missie May and Joe. Joe tells Missie May "Ah wants you to be de first ladies to walk in
dere and have some set down." This is a form of their own regional dialect, the way they speak says
much of their character language between one another. Joe begins to realize that Slemmons wants to
encounter Missie May as his own. Joe then starts to admire Missie May and wants her to look
sexually attractive towards Slemmons only to show her off to him. As Joe and Missie May enter the
ice cream parlor, she starts to play the role of a trophy wife. At this point, the story takes a tragic
turn down when Slemmons starts to chase after her, but only promising money in exchange for sex.
Analyzing Missie May as a character, Slemmons explicated her appearances and rated her as
"thirty–eight and two," by this we can encounter how Missie May exposes herself as a fine lady. She
wants to have a more luxurious life and

Spring Break Of Alabama, Alabama
Spring Break In Alabama
In the early morning of April 7th, 2015, my grandparents, parents, brother, and I awoke groggy, and
excited for the days to come. We drug ourselves out of bed and got ready for the long, tiring, 12
hour, car ride. About 4 hours away from Gulf Shores, Alabama, our final destination, we decided to
stop at Bass Pro Shop in Birmingham, Alabama. At Bass Pro Shop we looked at hunting and
camping accessories while stretching our legs and looking for snacks, so that we could continue
straight to Gulf Shores. Once we arrived in Gulf Shores, we stopped to get our key to the condo then
went on to eat lunch at Hooters. At Hooters my parents, brother, and I got mild wings, which weren't
very good. The salty fries, on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the front of the living room and both large bedrooms were sliding doors that led to a wide balcony
that showed the beautiful ocean, beach, and sky. After exploring the condo and all the rooms, my
family and I moved on to adventure outside. It was a nice, yet chilly afternoon so we decided to
admire the many restaurants and shops. After my grandparents arrived, we had a dinner of amazing,
juicy burgers. Next we moved on to explore the beach. The sand was cool, and the small, sharp
seashells stabbed at your feet as you walked. We watched the beautiful image of the sun sinking into
the pink and orange sky as we felt and smelled the cold salt water against our feet. The next day,
April 8th, my parents and I woke around 8 a.m. to get ready for our 3 mile run. After running, we
spent a couple hours at the beach in the warm sun and chilly breeze. A little while later after having
relaxed in the cool air conditioned condo, we got dressed up for dinner at a fancy seafood restaurant
in town. On our way there, a group of girls in the car behind us were yelling out the window at their
friends and rammed into the back of my grandpa's truck. My grandpa was upset, so we didn't make
it to the restaurant until around two hours later. For dinner, I ordered a steak, and it was
mouthwateringly juicy. When we arrived back to our cozy condo my grandparents went up to the
rooms and my family and I went out to the beach. My mom and I had our phones so we turned on
our flashlights and

The Motivation For Jerry And Christopher At A Ice Cream...
During my screenplay workshop, I received a lot of helpful suggestions on my overall motivation of
my characters. In my revision process, I tried to focus more on the overall motive for my two main
characters. For example, I added the motivation for Jerry and Christopher to open an ice cream
parlor. This helped with my revision of plot and main conflict because the two characters did not
have enough money for the down–payment on the open space. As a result, they decide to rob a bank
in order to get the money for the payment. Another thing I tried to work on during my revision was
the characterization of my two main characters. The two characters are, indeed, stupid. However,
my goal was to make their appearance a little different and they way they spoke different. An
example of my use of characterization is when Christopher speaks. For example, Christopher is very
goofy like Jerry. However, he has a small sense of responsibility/wisdom. In the car, he is the one to
have a notebook with all the information on the vacant space and bank. Moreover, he is the one that
starts to become serious when he fights the hostage in the bank. Although both of the characters are
stupid, Christopher 's character is what keeps the guys going. Without Chris, Jerry would be
clueless. We can see Jerry's characterization through his actions. Jerry does not think anything
through. For instance, in the bank, he brings in business cards with both their names on them. This is
something stupid

Ice Cream Connor Macinnis : How It Has Changed Size And...
Ice Cream Connor MacInnis Did you know that ice cream is a twenty–one billion dollar industry in
just the United States alone? Or how about the fact that the average cow can produce enough milk in
it's lifetime for over 9,000 gallons of ice cream? Did you know that it takes 12 gallons of milk to
make just one gallon of ice cream? Ice cream is a fascinating industry that has grown dramatically in
size and popularity. In order to fully comprehend why and how it came to be what it is today, one
must delve into the history of this summertime treat. The origins of ice cream date back thousands
of years. Though no–one can credit a particular individual with the invention, there are records of
similar sweets from the distant past. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It wasn't until around 1660 when ice cream had finally been made available to the general public,
and from there it's popularity grew dramatically. Even though ice cream had been enjoyed for close
to a century in Western Europe, America wasn't introduced to ice cream until 1744. Historians
believe that the first account of ice cream in The New World was contained in a letter written by a
guest of Maryland's Governor. Shortly after, the New York Gazette featured the first ice cream
advertisement in 1777 after confectioner Philip Lenzi's announcement that ice cream would be made
available "almost every day." Records found in New York show that George Washington himself
spent nearly two hundred dollars on ice cream during the hot summer of 1790. However,
Washington wasn't the only President of the time who'd shown great interest in this cold confection.
Thomas Jefferson actually had a step–by–step recipe for his favorite ice cream. Still, ice cream
remained an alluring, mysterious desert to commoners, accessible only to those of high stature. It
wasn't until the late 19th Century when new inventions in manufacturing made ice cream available
to nearly everyone. Technological Advances such as insulated ice houses, steam and electric power,
mechanical refrigeration, and packing machines created dramatic new growth in the ice cream
industry, making it the common dessert it is today. The

Augustus Jackson And Ice Cream
Augustus Jackson was born on April 16, 1808. He was a worker in the White House when he moved
from his hometown in Philadelphia. In the 1820's he was a teenager he became one of the top chefs.
Then he quit and moved back to Philadelphia and he opened his own shop as a caterer and a
confectioner. When working with ice cream he discovered that mixing rock salt and ice the salt will
act as a neutral object that controls and lowers the temperature of the ingredients he used for his ice
cream. When he made this discovery he started to sell it inin street vendors and in ice cream parlors.
He found this out in 1834. Soon after the invention he was named the 'the father of ice cream'.
Although he didn't actually invent it. Some historians say that

Ice cream, a simple luxury acquainted with memories of joy, family, and summer heat, can be found
just about anywhere in the United States, but nothing compares to the deliciousness that is a hand–
scooped cone in a homemade waffle cone purchased at a local ice cream parlor. This ideal is
something that Craig Moore and Kathy Ortiz full–heartedly embraced on their journey to becoming
a successful business in small–town Sand Lake, Michigan. Now it's no secret that, while it receives
a high amount of traffic, Sand Lake isn't a very well–known or popular town, but Rosie's still

For the past 35 years, the building that became Rosie's has been located in Sand Lake, Michigan; its
address is 34 W. Lake St., Sand Lake, MI 49343. The company began in the early 1980s as The
Cone Zone, owned by Barb and Jim Younglove. They owned for around 20 or 25 years before
selling it in 2005. The next owners were Chris and Helen Collins, and they called their shop JoJo's
Cone Zone, not straying far from the original title. The Collins owned it for the next 5 years before
selling the company once again to the current owners. From 2010 to present–day, the company has
been known as Rosie's Ice Cream and More (Moore). Rosie's is open from April until September
every year; in the spring, hours run from 2:30pm–8:30pm, and in the summer, Rosie's is open from
12pm–10pm. The company most definitely lives up to the name Rosie's Ice Cream & More,

consists of soft serve, Dole whip, hand dip, sundaes, shakes, and flurries, and the food it serves
included hot dogs, brats, burgers, french fries, onion rings, and more. Aside from the items on the
menu, Rosie's also specializes in its customer service; the owners are extremely caring about the

The Titanic Experience Essay
Anyone who knows me knows that I am absolutely terrified of being out in the middle of the ocean.
Some say I have watched the Titanic one too many times, but I do not agree. Ever since I can
remember I have been beyond fearful of large bodies of water. How my best friend convinced me to
go on a cruise with her to the Bahamas is beyond me. Oh boy did I not know what I was getting my
crazy self into. Once I finally convinced my over–protective parents to let me go the nerves really
started to set in. I remember seeing the gigantic white boat for the first time like it was yesterday. If
you could have taken a picture of me it would have looked like my jaw had hit the floor. I was
thinking there is no way in the world that this is going to actually float. Not only that, but it was
going to be out in the middle of absolutely nowhere. We finally boarded and started to take off but
my mind started to settle because at every turn and corner there was something fun and fascinating
to see and do. I lounged by the pool to try to get the perfect summer tan, went and ate more than I
weighed at the buffet. Not to mention the twenty–four–hour ice cream parlor that was open, we went
there almost every two hours it felt like. But night was coming up ahead and accompanying it was
anxiety with no end. When we were finally going to bed and all of a sudden, I got a very uneasy
feeling. Just knowing the fact that I was floating on top of the unknown made me tremble. Luckily

Aqua S Case Essay
Jennifer Lam is the proud owner of one of Australia's most popular ice cream parlors, Aqua S. While
the path for Lam to get to where she is today isn't exactly the straightest of paths, her story is one of
the more interesting ones. After hearing her background and the story behind Aqua S, it's no wonder
Lam has experienced success.
Lam is in charge of franchising for the Australian–based company, Aqua S, an ice cream parlor
located in Australia. Lam was an accountant for three years before realizing that accounting was too
boring for her and wasn't what she was looking to do with her life. Lam has a bachelor's degree in
marketing along with two different master's degrees: one in accounting and the other in business
law.
After Lam finished up her three years in accounting, she ended up working at a courier company for
another three years. After three years, she walked out on the job because she wanted ... Show more

Ironically enough, Lam actually has little to no passion for owning an ice cream parlor. When she
was asked if it was always her dream to open an ice cream parlor, Lam responded with, "Yeah, not
at all. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of dessert at all. But, life's like that." Whether she likes dessert or
not, Lam's success in running a successful ice cream parlor is no surprise.
Lam's friend is very picky when it comes to desserts. Because of this, Lam lets him take over the
creation and testing of all their new flavors while Lam stays strictly on the business side and handles
all franchising aspects of the business.
As with anyone who is taking on the task of owning a business, there were several learning
moments for Lam during the beginning of her journey to opening her first store. One of the biggest
things she remembers was the time when she first went to approach someone about renting a
building to open her first

Ice Cream, The Summer Lover Of Many Humans
Ice cream, the summer lover of many humans, is becoming more and more popular. Back in the
1960s through 2005, kids would run when they heard the catchy tune of the ice cream truck. As the
years pass, the ice cream truck industry has declined significantly. People of all ages just go through
a drive–thru or get ice cream from the store. Over the years, while the ice cream truck industry has
declined, the different flavors of those ice creams have changed suggestively. The process and the
different flavors of ice cream have changed over the years from vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry,
to much more eccentric flavors . There is a simple process on how to make sugar. Sugar is in almost
all ice creams, excluding the ones ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many small ice cream shops in the big cities carry these unusual flavors. However, not many people
have a mouth watering craving for lobster, sardine, or brandy ice cream. Today, there are high
demands for non–dairy ice cream. Some go the whole hog and open cream–less ice cream treats.
Alternative dairy products such as: soy milk, almond milk, and coconut milk are added instead of
regular milk. What is really crazy, is some people even develop dairy–free flavors! That is crazy,
right? While making cream, small independent ice cream shops dream up wild frozen treats that are
one–of–a–kind. In Los Angeles, there are churro ice cream sandwiches. Even home cooks,
restaurants, and ice cream shops are creating decadent creations, like classic wafer with doughnuts,
Rice Krispie treats, and waffles. Gelato, an ice cream like substance, is more than the Italian word
for ice cream. One of the differences of ice cream and gelato is the soft and creamy textures are a
result of a few more differences in ingredients. Gelato also has a lower percentage of buttercream
than ice cream and a slight warmer temperature, which makes the flavors more intense. Lastly, there
is less air churned and it feels more creamy and dense in the mouth. There are new ideas of exoric
flavors of gelato everyday. In Chicago, a ice cream store called Black Dog Gelato, is known for their
gelato. Black Dog only uses natural and seasonal ingredients in their small–batches advertised. One

Descriptive Essay On Ice Cream
SOUTH MIAMI – Everyday from 10 in the morning until 10 at night, a steady stream of people
enter Handel's Homemade Ice Cream Shop in the Lofts at Sunrise Beach, and leave with sticky
hands and faces – and big smiles.
Sometimes, as many as 50 people will be in line for the cones, ice cream sandwiches, and other
goodies.
The midwestern ice cream chain's second location in South Florida has been a success since the day
it opened June 4, 2016. Its popularity has only grown, co–owners Ken Schulenburg and Juliana
Ortiz said.
The longtime couple attributes the shop's popularity to the family–friendly atmosphere they've tried
to foster.
"Our vision was to create the memories that we had when we were kids going to ice cream shops",
said Schulenburg, who goes by the nickname 'ScoopDogg. ' "In Miami, you get businesses that are
trying to do that, but many of them are microbreweries, so it's not totally a family environment.
But the explosion in popularity hasn't been all sweet, especially for neighboring tenants in the Lofts,
a residential and retail complex on the northwest corner of U.S. 1 and Southwest 72nd Street.
Some businesses complain that Handle's patrons overwhelm them with requests to use the restroom
– Handel's doesn't have a public bathroom – and take away precious street parking from their
customers while leaving trails of debris as they exit the restaurant.
"We can't pay for all of their people to wipe their butts with our toilet paper," said Valerie Buccieri,
who owns

Demographics Ice Cream Industry
Demographics of the Ice Cream Industry The Canadian demographic for ice cream has been a
constant presence of a sweet treat on a hot summer day. Thankfully, Canadians love ice cream, and
enjoy it all year around. But, just who is enjoying this delicious milky treat, and what opportunities
and threats does that leave the ice cream industry with? Opportunities Canadians have loved ice
cream for centuries, and it shows today as children as young as ages 2–12, and folks as mature as 75
and up love ice cream. (Canadians Crazy for Ice Cream, 2010, Para. 12). Parents have also been

Yet, where there are micro environmental factors, there's also macro. Macro environmental factors
are affected by natural disasters such as the fire that caused $2million of damages at Chapman's
institution of Markdale (CTV Toronto, 2009, Para. 1& 16), which posed as a threat because the
result was loss of an entire product plant as well as product growth. Other macro environmental
factors also include the economy. If the economy goes down, the less people will spend money and
the more they'll cut out the little things, like ice cream. Other threats to obtaining the demographic
span can be as simple as people who are lactose intolerant. Being lactose intolerant is actually
having the high sugars in milk products not properly being broken down in the body. However, ice
cream provides these high sugars, making it difficult and uncomfortable for the body to digest.
(Canadian Digestive Health Foundation, 2013, para.1) While this seems like a mild threat, it holds
the value of over 7 million Canadians who suffer from lactose intolerance and are not able to enjoy
milk products, resulting in a large loss. (Canadian Digestive Health Foundation, 2013, Para 2)
Opportunity or Threat. DEMOGRAPHIC Ice cream is becoming exposed to children at young ages.
(Mamapedia, 2012, Para. 2) –This is an opportunity for the ice cream industry because as the ice
cream industry grows, people grow with it. The early exposure of ice cream to children can create

Emulsifiers help to promote this destabilization process, which will be discussed below. The
triglycerides in milk fat have a wide melting range, +40° C to –40° C, and thus there is always a
combination of liquid and crystalline fat. Alteration of this solid: liquid ratio can affect the amount
of fat destabilization that occurs. Duplicating this structure with other sources of fat is difficult.
Vegetable (non–dairy) fats are used extensively as fat sources in ice cream in the United Kingdom,
parts of Europe, the Far East, and Latin America but only to a very limited extent in North America.
Five factors of great interest in selection of fat source are the crystal structure of the fat, the rate at
which the fat crystallizes during dynamic temperature conditions, the temperature–dependent
melting profile of the fat, especially at chilled and freezer temperatures, the content of high melting
triglycerides (which can produce a waxy, greasy mouth–feel) and the flavor and purity of the oil. It
is important that the fat droplet contain an intermediate ratio of liquid: solid fat at the time of
freezing. It is difficult to quantify this ratio as it is dependent on a number of composition and
manufacturing factors, however, 1/2 to 2/3 crystalline fat at 4–5oC is a good, working rule.
Crystallization of fat occurs in three steps: under cooling to induce

Gerald replied " Whatever happens, happens''. While sitting in the waiting room, Jordan gets a call

Jayden's skin turned very pale and slowly his breath shortened, until he couldn't breath anymore and
he died a slow, painful death. It all started one day when 4 college students Jordan, Jayden, Karen,

Summary Of ' The Open Window '
Staring out the open window, Megan let the quiet breeze blow in and flow through her long, brown
hair. This is where she would take in her last moments of silence. She watched as the branches
swayed in the wind, their leaves just starting to turn red and fall to the ground. She thought about
jumping, escaping reality, but instead turned and stepped away, dragging the fabric of her puffed up,
white dress with her. Memories of her mother started to flood in her mind, drowning her with
unpleasant reflections. She wondered if she would be able to make it through the rest of the day.
Summer was approaching, Megan could tell by the way the warmth of the sun danced across her
skin. She was finishing up her last week of school, excited to see what summer adventures she
would have this year with her parents. The school bell rang and all of the students ran to line up in
front of the door, screaming goodbyes at the teacher and at each other. One by one, they exited the
classroom, made their way down the once colorful halls, and then out the doors to greet whoever
was picking them up that day. Megan searched the crowd of parents, sprinting towards her father
who was standing with his arms wide open. "How was your day Meg? Did you learn any essential
information today?" her father had asked, embracing her in his gigantic bear arms. From her view,
her father stood like a tower, hovering over everything beneath him. Education, to him, was

slow. The productivity level will be low, and therefore should not be wasting money on labor when
it is not needed. This leads to the other factor of not having properly trained managers, leading and
directing the staff of saving and making money. Overall, the management level needs vast
improvements in order to support Ben and Jerry’s culture with financial structure and foresee
money saving opportunities by cutting labor costs.
Strategic Analyses: A couple of models are needed to explore the core of the business of Ben and
Jerry’s. The first model will be the S.W.O.T. analyses, which will describe the strengths,
weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the company. Illustrating both interior and exterior
positives and negatives of the firm, and helping a new perspective develop in order to make clear
judgment calls for improvement. Second, Porter’s Five Forces model will be the conclusion of
the outline, and it will better explain in detail the threat of new competition and how it is volatile to
the company.

Symbols in“the Gilded Six Bits” Zora Neale Hurston Essay
Coins, quilts and a creek, what could these three things possibly have in common? They are all
symbols of love, freedom, family and legacy. In "The Gilded Six Bits" by Zora Neale Hurston the
coins represent Joe and Missie Mae's relationship. In "Women Hollering Creek" by Sandra Cisneros
the creek represents a bridge to the past and the future for Cleofilas. In "Use" by Alice Walker the
quilts represent family legacy and what happens when families disagree about that legacy.
In "The Six Gilded Bits" we meet Joe and Misse Mae, newlyweds. They are young, in love and
exceptionally happy with their life. They have lived a modest life in a small house "but there was
something happy about it". (Hurston 1) We meet Misse Mae first as she is ... Show more content on

this is when she realizes "How when a man and a woman love each other, sometimes that love

Surely by now she feels her love souring. She can not understand why Juan must drink all time and
why he continues to beat after he promises that he will never do it again. Cleofilas knows she can go

Describe My Grandmother
Every summer My family and I drive up to my Grandparents house in Harwich, Cape Cod. Driving
over the Bourne bridge brings back so many memories every time we pass over it. The countless
beach days, relaxing in the lazy river, and spending time with family. My grandma always greets us
with a loving smile. She runs over to the car and immediately starts to talk and attempts to kiss us.
My grandma's face always lights up when she sees our family, especially my dog Penny. My
grandma Anita, has always been around dogs. She has had three in her lifetime and seeing our dog
makes her remember the good times she shared. My grandma is prepared to give my dog multiple
treats the second she jumps out of the car. She reached in her pocket and grabbed a handful of dog
treats and dropped them on the grass. Penny's tail wags the second she smells the treats. We grabbed
our bags from the car and walked into the house. The fresh scent of candles made its way into my
nose which makes me remember how peaceful Cape Cod is. My Grandma's excitement radiates as
we all walk into the house. The house has not changed one but, it still has the high vaulted ceilings,
the granite kitchen, and the enormous back yard. My grandma is so thoughtful she makes a
reservation for us to go out to eat at a well respected restaurant. Knowing my grandma and the
countless fun I have experienced throughout my life I know we were going to have a good time.
I checked the refrigerator because I know my grandma always

Cold Stone Creamery use national marketing strategy but also adapts to use specialized local

themselves for not just giving customer ice cream but rather an "Experience"; they are also targeting
the healthier crowd by bringing in healthy smoothies (because they are traditionally known for

smoothies samples at some stores, have smoothies in their menu under "healthy indulgence", and
they are going to give away free samples at Gasparillia Distance Classic Race expo (over 20,000

The book Girl, Interrupted is about a teenage girl Susanna Kaysen. At the age of 18 she voluntarily

cornerstone of the community ever since. The companies name derives from Prince Hermann, Fürst
von Pückler–Muskau of Germany, a nobleman who was heralded for his landscape gardening
abilities and penmanship. He wasn't a cook, nor an ice cream pioneer, but his ties to the frozen treat
can be traced back to the late 1830s. It was around this time that the Royal Prussian cook, Louis
Ferdinand Jungius, developed a Neapolitan styled ice cream, which he named in honor of Prince
Hermann. This desert has become a classic in many European countries, helped to inspire the
American version of Neapolitan ice cream, and was the inspiration for Prince Puckler's in Eugene. ...

Having a location within close walking distance of the University of Oregon, residence halls and
Heyward Field puts them in the perfect spot to take advantage of the freshman student markets and
the numerous track and field events held in Eugene each year. Their 49 flavors, seasonal offerings,
pies and drinks are all made in house and sold at a select few locations within the Portland and
Eugene markets, though the University of Oregon location is their only physical retail store. On
warm days the line of customers can easily reach around the block, but overall wait times are very
manageable and the convenience of going to Prince Puckler's is comparable with the rest of their

M1A2 Principles Of Marketing
M1A2 Principles of Marketing I was inspired to write my paper by my husband's craving tonight,
ice cream; and who better than Ben and Jerry's. Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield were childhood
friends born four days apart in Brooklyn, New York, in 1951. They both loved ice cream and Ben
even drove an ice cream truck during his senior year of high school. After high school, Ben attended
and dropped out of many colleges all over the Northeast. Soon he worked on a farm and started to
dabble in ice cream making. Jerry graduated from high school and then studied medicine. Jerry
worked in the colleges cafeteria as an ice cream scooper. He applied to many medical schools but
never succeeded. Soon after he and Ben met up again and became roommates. Soon they decided to
go into the food business together. At first they thought about bagels but the equipment was too
expensive. Instead they decided on ice cream. After a lot of thought they decided to open and ice
cream parlor in Burlington Vt., it was college town that really needed a cool hang out and there were
no ice cream parlors in town In 1978, with a $5 correspondence course in ice cream–making from
Penn State and a $12,000 investment ($4,000 of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After milking the milk is separated into heavy cream and condensed skim milk. At the factory a
batch of ice cream mix starts with heavy cream, condensed skim milk, and liquid cane sugar. Then
they add egg yolks, cocoa powder for chocolate flavors, and natural stabilizers which help prevent
heat shock and formation of ice crystals. All of the ingredients are blenderized for 6 to 8 minutes,
resulting in either a white "sweet cream" mix, or a chocolate mix. After cooling for a long period of
time the Flavoring is added. Flavoring is taken very seriously. An incredible range of flavorings,

Frozen Yogurt Vs Ice Cream
Bailey Naden Miss Royse English 4 7 April 2015 Frozen Yogurt versus Ice Cream Frozen yogurt's
popularity has skyrocketed over the years, making it very well known to the public, maybe even
more liked than another popular product. Ice cream isn't the same as frozen yogurt and it just doesn't
receive as much love. There are also many benefits to eating frozen yogurt. Plus it just tastes so rich
and creamy while ice cream is somewhat harder and not as good as frozen yogurt. More people are
eating the swirly goodness of frozen yogurt because of the better health benefits, lactose intolerance
benefits, and the fact that there are more fun frozen yogurt parlors to go to. First of all, there are
many health benefits that you can gain by eating frozen yogurt rather than ice cream. For one,
frozen yogurt is lower in fat and calories ("5"). When going on diets, frozen yogurt is the better
alternative than ice cream because of the fact that it is lower in fat and calories ("Nutrition"). It also
helps your bones and muscles because of the high calcium and protein content ("5"). You must
watch out for the sugary toppings that frozen yogurt shops try to lure you in with. Those toppings
may taste good, but the whole point of wanting to eat frozen yogurt is because it is healthier than ice
cream, so if you have the option between sugary toppings and healthy toppings you should choose
the healthy toppings. Another great reason we can enjoy frozen yogurt more than ice cream is
because people

Analysis Of The City That Worships Ice Cream In All Flavors
In "The City That Worships Ice Cream in All Flavors," Rimer emphasizes about how Boston is a
city of ice cream and how affectionate Robert Coles, the eminent child psychiatrist, Harvard
professor, and a Pulitzer Prize–winning author and magazine editor, is toward Boston's ice cream.
Rimer states that Boston is a city of ice cream eater and ice cream entrepreneurs. He also claims that
Boston has ice cream just like Seattle has cappuccino, Baltimore has crabs, Kansas City has
barbecue. He tells the readers that different ice cream flavors were first introduced to Boston by a
legend name Steve Herrell. It was Herrell who came up with the idea of mixing candy and cookies
into the ice cream. To emphasize more about the popularity of Boston's ice

The Wife Monologue
It was a cold and windy September 17 in Denton, Maryland. The year was 1997. Kurt was working
in the field like he does everyday. His wife, Beth, could see him from the house. He could hear from
a distance his two daughters playing in the yard. It was their birthday today.
He remembered back to when the girls were born. The doctor said Beth was pregnant with a baby
boy, and out came two special girls. These girls were not just special in the "Daddy's little angels"
kind of way. They were both born with superpowers. Glenda came out glowing blue. She had
beautiful blue eyes and a fair complexion with hair that was white as snow. Sutton came out glowing
red. She had bright red lips, dark brown eyes, and silky black hair. Both girls were a blessing ...

She headed back into her bedroom and knelt down beside the bed. She blindly reached under and
pulled out a large briefcase. Unhinging the briefcase she revealed a well stocked weaponry with
plenty of supplies for the plan.
Shutterbug strapped on a few guns, some knives, and a couple emergency grenades to a belt. She
headed to the patio which was located 4 stories from the sidewalk below. Shutterbug climbed the
railing and steadied her balance. She took one last big breath and jumped into flight.
On her way to the White House she was reminiscing on all of her reasons why she was doing this.
Shutterbug wanted respect. She hated that her sister was always the favorite. Glenda was perfect in
every way. Their parents favored Glenda. Glenda got to go to the wealthy aunt and uncle, and she
was now married to the President. What more could she become? Something had to change.
Shutterbug had decided it was better to be feared than loved, and now she was going to be feared by
all.
Shutterbug could see the White House in the distance. People were scrambling all over the place.
Someone must have seen her coming. Picking up speed, she plummeted down at the front gate.
People were fleeing all around her, except the White House security. Nobody knew her intentions,
but whenever she was around, there would be

Theme Of The Gilded Six Bits

  • 1. Theme Of The Gilded Six Bits In "The Gilded Six Bits," Zora Neale Hurston uses several different techniques to characterize Joe and Missie May, the main couple throughout the short story. Hurston utilizes her own background to describe Joe and Missie May and their marriage. She additionally demonstrates their character improvement through her writing styles and techniques, which indicate responses and reactions between Joe and Missie May to develop their relationship. Hurston supports her character development through her written work style, her characters dialect, and encounters experiences from her own life to depict a feeling of reality to her characters identities. While the story is set in the south, we can relate it to how marriage becomes more difficult due to the background they come from. One theme identified throughout the story was the institution of marriage. In the beginning, Missie May and Joe seem to have it all in spite of the fact that they are poor. Hurston describes their home by stating that "The fence and house were whitewashed. The porch and steps scrubbed white," this shows us they had an easy way of interacting with one another by how white symbolizes cleanness, peaceful and purity. Things start to become a little off, when a newcomer Otis D. Slemmons comes into town. He comes in and threatens to ruin everything between Missie May and Joe. Joe tells Missie May "Ah wants you to be de first ladies to walk in dere and have some set down." This is a form of their own regional dialect, the way they speak says much of their character language between one another. Joe begins to realize that Slemmons wants to encounter Missie May as his own. Joe then starts to admire Missie May and wants her to look sexually attractive towards Slemmons only to show her off to him. As Joe and Missie May enter the ice cream parlor, she starts to play the role of a trophy wife. At this point, the story takes a tragic turn down when Slemmons starts to chase after her, but only promising money in exchange for sex. Analyzing Missie May as a character, Slemmons explicated her appearances and rated her as "thirty–eight and two," by this we can encounter how Missie May exposes herself as a fine lady. She wants to have a more luxurious life and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Spring Break Of Alabama, Alabama Spring Break In Alabama In the early morning of April 7th, 2015, my grandparents, parents, brother, and I awoke groggy, and excited for the days to come. We drug ourselves out of bed and got ready for the long, tiring, 12 hour, car ride. About 4 hours away from Gulf Shores, Alabama, our final destination, we decided to stop at Bass Pro Shop in Birmingham, Alabama. At Bass Pro Shop we looked at hunting and camping accessories while stretching our legs and looking for snacks, so that we could continue straight to Gulf Shores. Once we arrived in Gulf Shores, we stopped to get our key to the condo then went on to eat lunch at Hooters. At Hooters my parents, brother, and I got mild wings, which weren't very good. The salty fries, on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the front of the living room and both large bedrooms were sliding doors that led to a wide balcony that showed the beautiful ocean, beach, and sky. After exploring the condo and all the rooms, my family and I moved on to adventure outside. It was a nice, yet chilly afternoon so we decided to admire the many restaurants and shops. After my grandparents arrived, we had a dinner of amazing, juicy burgers. Next we moved on to explore the beach. The sand was cool, and the small, sharp seashells stabbed at your feet as you walked. We watched the beautiful image of the sun sinking into the pink and orange sky as we felt and smelled the cold salt water against our feet. The next day, April 8th, my parents and I woke around 8 a.m. to get ready for our 3 mile run. After running, we spent a couple hours at the beach in the warm sun and chilly breeze. A little while later after having relaxed in the cool air conditioned condo, we got dressed up for dinner at a fancy seafood restaurant in town. On our way there, a group of girls in the car behind us were yelling out the window at their friends and rammed into the back of my grandpa's truck. My grandpa was upset, so we didn't make it to the restaurant until around two hours later. For dinner, I ordered a steak, and it was mouthwateringly juicy. When we arrived back to our cozy condo my grandparents went up to the rooms and my family and I went out to the beach. My mom and I had our phones so we turned on our flashlights and ... • 5. The Motivation For Jerry And Christopher At A Ice Cream... During my screenplay workshop, I received a lot of helpful suggestions on my overall motivation of my characters. In my revision process, I tried to focus more on the overall motive for my two main characters. For example, I added the motivation for Jerry and Christopher to open an ice cream parlor. This helped with my revision of plot and main conflict because the two characters did not have enough money for the down–payment on the open space. As a result, they decide to rob a bank in order to get the money for the payment. Another thing I tried to work on during my revision was the characterization of my two main characters. The two characters are, indeed, stupid. However, my goal was to make their appearance a little different and they way they spoke different. An example of my use of characterization is when Christopher speaks. For example, Christopher is very goofy like Jerry. However, he has a small sense of responsibility/wisdom. In the car, he is the one to have a notebook with all the information on the vacant space and bank. Moreover, he is the one that starts to become serious when he fights the hostage in the bank. Although both of the characters are stupid, Christopher 's character is what keeps the guys going. Without Chris, Jerry would be clueless. We can see Jerry's characterization through his actions. Jerry does not think anything through. For instance, in the bank, he brings in business cards with both their names on them. This is something stupid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Ice Cream Connor Macinnis : How It Has Changed Size And... Ice Cream Connor MacInnis Did you know that ice cream is a twenty–one billion dollar industry in just the United States alone? Or how about the fact that the average cow can produce enough milk in it's lifetime for over 9,000 gallons of ice cream? Did you know that it takes 12 gallons of milk to make just one gallon of ice cream? Ice cream is a fascinating industry that has grown dramatically in size and popularity. In order to fully comprehend why and how it came to be what it is today, one must delve into the history of this summertime treat. The origins of ice cream date back thousands of years. Though no–one can credit a particular individual with the invention, there are records of similar sweets from the distant past. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It wasn't until around 1660 when ice cream had finally been made available to the general public, and from there it's popularity grew dramatically. Even though ice cream had been enjoyed for close to a century in Western Europe, America wasn't introduced to ice cream until 1744. Historians believe that the first account of ice cream in The New World was contained in a letter written by a guest of Maryland's Governor. Shortly after, the New York Gazette featured the first ice cream advertisement in 1777 after confectioner Philip Lenzi's announcement that ice cream would be made available "almost every day." Records found in New York show that George Washington himself spent nearly two hundred dollars on ice cream during the hot summer of 1790. However, Washington wasn't the only President of the time who'd shown great interest in this cold confection. Thomas Jefferson actually had a step–by–step recipe for his favorite ice cream. Still, ice cream remained an alluring, mysterious desert to commoners, accessible only to those of high stature. It wasn't until the late 19th Century when new inventions in manufacturing made ice cream available to nearly everyone. Technological Advances such as insulated ice houses, steam and electric power, mechanical refrigeration, and packing machines created dramatic new growth in the ice cream industry, making it the common dessert it is today. She is fierce, never afraid to speak her mind; she is my hero; she saved my life; she is my Grandma. Growing up was not an easy task for me, but my grandma made it so much easier. She would drive her four–door, tan Buick fifty miles one way from the small factory town of Warsaw, Indiana, to the college city of South Bend, Indiana, every weekend to retrieve me. She would pack me in the front seat of the car, opening the door, the familiar scent of grandma 's rose perfume mixed with her lemon air freshener greeted me like an old friend. Having my Grandpa sit in the back, due to the fact I got car sick. We would head off to the Kmart to buy my shoes, socks, underpants, and whatever else I may need. Some say I have watched the Titanic one too many times, but I do not agree. Ever since I can remember I have been beyond fearful of large bodies of water. How my best friend convinced me to go on a cruise with her to the Bahamas is beyond me. Oh boy did I not know what I was getting my crazy self into. Once I finally convinced my over–protective parents to let me go the nerves really started to set in. I remember seeing the gigantic white boat for the first time like it was yesterday. If you could have taken a picture of me it would have looked like my jaw had hit the floor. I was thinking there is no way in the world that this is going to actually float. Not only that, but it was going to be out in the middle of absolutely nowhere. We finally boarded and started to take off but my mind started to settle because at every turn and corner there was something fun and fascinating to see and do. I lounged by the pool to try to get the perfect summer tan, went and ate more than I weighed at the buffet. Not to mention the twenty–four–hour ice cream parlor that was open, we went there almost every two hours it felt like. But night was coming up ahead and accompanying it was anxiety with no end. While the path for Lam to get to where she is today isn't exactly the straightest of paths, her story is one of the more interesting ones. Lam is in charge of franchising for the Australian–based company, Aqua S, an ice cream parlor located in Australia. Lam was an accountant for three years before realizing that accounting was too boring for her and wasn't what she was looking to do with her life. Lam has a bachelor's degree in marketing along with two different master's degrees: one in accounting and the other in business law. Whether she likes dessert or not, Lam's success in running a successful ice cream parlor is no surprise. Lam's friend is very picky when it comes to desserts. Because of this, Lam lets him take over the creation and testing of all their new flavors while Lam stays strictly on the business side and handles all franchising aspects of the business. Alternative dairy products such as: soy milk, almond milk, and coconut milk are added instead of regular milk. What is really crazy, is some people even develop dairy–free flavors! That is crazy, right? While making cream, small independent ice cream shops dream up wild frozen treats that are one–of–a–kind. In Los Angeles, there are churro ice cream sandwiches. Even home cooks, restaurants, and ice cream shops are creating decadent creations, like classic wafer with doughnuts, Rice Krispie treats, and waffles. Descriptive Essay On Ice Cream SOUTH MIAMI – Everyday from 10 in the morning until 10 at night, a steady stream of people enter Handel's Homemade Ice Cream Shop in the Lofts at Sunrise Beach, and leave with sticky hands and faces – and big smiles. Sometimes, as many as 50 people will be in line for the cones, ice cream sandwiches, and other goodies. The midwestern ice cream chain's second location in South Florida has been a success since the day it opened June 4, 2016. Its popularity has only grown, co–owners Ken Schulenburg and Juliana Ortiz said. The longtime couple attributes the shop's popularity to the family–friendly atmosphere they've tried to foster. "Our vision was to create the memories that we had when we were kids going to ice cream shops", said Schulenburg, who goes by the nickname 'ScoopDogg. ' "In Miami, you get businesses that are trying to do that, but many of them are microbreweries, so it's not totally a family environment. But the explosion in popularity hasn't been all sweet, especially for neighboring tenants in the Lofts, a residential and retail complex on the northwest corner of U.S. 1 and Southwest 72nd Street. Some businesses complain that Handle's patrons overwhelm them with requests to use the restroom – Handel's doesn't have a public bathroom – and take away precious street parking from their customers while leaving trails of debris as they exit the restaurant. Emulsifiers help to promote this destabilization process, which will be discussed below. The triglycerides in milk fat have a wide melting range, +40° C to –40° C, and thus there is always a combination of liquid and crystalline fat. Alteration of this solid: liquid ratio can affect the amount of fat destabilization that occurs. Duplicating this structure with other sources of fat is difficult. Vegetable (non–dairy) fats are used extensively as fat sources in ice cream in the United Kingdom, parts of Europe, the Far East, and Latin America but only to a very limited extent in North America. Five factors of great interest in selection of fat source are the crystal structure of the fat, the rate at which the fat crystallizes during dynamic temperature conditions, the temperature–dependent melting profile of the fat, especially at chilled and freezer temperatures, the content of high melting triglycerides (which can produce a waxy, greasy mouth–feel) and the flavor and purity of the oil. They are all symbols of love, freedom, family and legacy. In "The Gilded Six Bits" by Zora Neale Hurston the coins represent Joe and Missie Mae's relationship. In "Women Hollering Creek" by Sandra Cisneros the creek represents a bridge to the past and the future for Cleofilas. Driving over the Bourne bridge brings back so many memories every time we pass over it. The countless beach days, relaxing in the lazy river, and spending time with family. My grandma always greets us with a loving smile. She runs over to the car and immediately starts to talk and attempts to kiss us. My grandma's face always lights up when she sees our family, especially my dog Penny. My grandma Anita, has always been around dogs. She has had three in her lifetime and seeing our dog makes her remember the good times she shared. My grandma is prepared to give my dog multiple treats the second she jumps out of the car. She reached in her pocket and grabbed a handful of dog treats and dropped them on the grass. Penny's tail wags the second she smells the treats. We grabbed our bags from the car and walked into the house. The fresh scent of candles made its way into my nose which makes me remember how peaceful Cape Cod is. My Grandma's excitement radiates as we all walk into the house. The house has not changed one but, it still has the high vaulted ceilings, the granite kitchen, and the enormous back yard. My grandma is so thoughtful she makes a reservation for us to go out to eat at a well respected restaurant. Ice cream isn't the same as frozen yogurt and it just doesn't receive as much love. There are also many benefits to eating frozen yogurt. Plus it just tastes so rich and creamy while ice cream is somewhat harder and not as good as frozen yogurt. More people are eating the swirly goodness of frozen yogurt because of the better health benefits, lactose intolerance benefits, and the fact that there are more fun frozen yogurt parlors to go to. First of all, there are many health benefits that you can gain by eating frozen yogurt rather than ice cream. For one, frozen yogurt is lower in fat and calories ("5"). When going on diets, frozen yogurt is the better alternative than ice cream because of the fact that it is lower in fat and calories ("Nutrition"). It also helps your bones and muscles because of the high calcium and protein content ("5"). You must watch out for the sugary toppings that frozen yogurt shops try to lure you in with.
