I had to present months ago to the team about a topic I was interested in and thought would be great to share in hope that it would be useful at work. I've finally put it on SlideShare. Hopefully this presentation lights a spark in you as it did with me as I was reading up on it.
Mindset for Achievement: How to Boost Achievement and Fulfillment Through Min...BayCHI
Carol Dweck at BayCHI, May 11, 2010: Mindset is a simple idea discovered by world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck in decades of research on achievement and success—a simple idea that makes all the difference. In a fixed mindset, people believe their basic qualities, like their intelligence or talent, are simply fixed traits. They spend their time documenting their intelligence or talent instead of developing them. Dweck's research also shows that praising intelligence can harm motivation by creating a fixed mindset. People also tend to believe that talent alone creates success—without effort. They're wrong. In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment. Virtually all great people have had these qualities. Teaching a growth mindset creates motivation and productivity in the worlds of business, education, and sports.
Research on Success: Grit, growth mindset, and the marshmallow testSteve Lee
This professional development workshop takes 3 research studies (grit, growth vs fixed mindset, and the marshmallow test) and translates them into practical suggestions for students. This workshop was presented to incoming business school students at UC Davis' Graduate School of Management on Aug 29, 2014.

ImagineNation LAST Generating Creative Conversations Presentation Janet Sernack
A creative conversation transfers ideas from one mind to another, it also allows you to reveal and remove all obstacles in the way of making creative ideas and inventions happen. It even allows you to see opportunities, realise possibilities and easily solves real-life, personal and business problems.
It’s not that we’ve forgotten how to hold genuine conversations. The problem is much deeper. We’ve stopped learning how to hold a genuine conversation.
The good news is we can all learn it. All this ability demands is the ability to be observant, having a core skill-set and following the four key steps in the generative discovery cycle.
A synopsis of Carol Dweck's research and book: Self Theories: Their Role in Motivation, Personality, and Development; this has particular reference to the ABC's motto "Effort Leads to Success"
A one-page summary of the key differences between the fixed mindset and the growth mindset (concepts developed by Prof Carol Dweck from Stanford University).
Growth mindset has been shown to be significantly predictive of long-term success in a variety of areas, including acedemic success.
Growth Mindset & Psychological Safety - High Performing Teams in Software Dev...PALO IT
Software quality, psychological safety and growth mindset might seem to be unrelated at first glance. However, both psychological safety and growth mindset are crucial in high performance teams. Join our upcoming PALO IT BarCamp to understand more about psychological safety and different mindset, learn how these topics affect one another, and get inspired to enable teams to deliver awesomeness to users.
What you will explore
We have always been seeking the secret sauce of high performance teams in the software development industry. Some teams deliver products better than several teams combined. Some others adjust to market change quicker than the change itself. Some others learn from failure and raise the bar by making their product more resilient than ever. Not long ago, Google's Project Aristotle has answered the million dollar question on the successful recipe of building high performance teams with psychological safety cited as the most important factor. In this BarCamp, we will dive into details and find out what it takes to allow individual team members to feel psychologically safe and willing to take calculated risks for learning and improvement.
Through research and case studies, we will explore the following:
> What is psychological safety?
> How mindset affects the perception of psychological safety?
> How to assess mindset and psychological safety in your team?
> How to create an environment that promotes growth mindset and fosters psychological safety?
Audience
> Developers
> Team Leads
> Team Coaches
> Managers
> Business Leaders
> Anyone looking to maximise self and team's ability to grow and improve.
Leverage true grit, overcome your fears and embrace leadership. All of these are in you, so unleash them for your lasting career, professional, and business success.
The Ironic Secret to Grit (What to do when Willpower Fails)David Palank
Willpower is a finite resource. This slide deck describes what scientists know about willpower, grit, and the ironic secret to become more resilient. (Hint: It's Habits)
Teams that promote and foster a growth mindset tend to be more collaborative, empowered, and committed--all factors we need in an effective organization. But how do difficult times impact people’s ability to stay positive and maintain a growth mindset? In this session, we'll review Dr. Carol Dweck's research on mindset, translate how a growth mindset can help build a more effective team, and provide real-world examples of how mindset can help you not only survive, but thrive in spite of our current environment.
There are some steps to a growth mindsetjane GARDNER
There are some steps you can take to move you toward a more growth-oriented mindset
Step One – Awareness: Hear Your "Fixed Mindset" Voice
You most likely know this voice, even though you may never have identified it as an "inner critic." The first step is to identify that voice and identify the times when you hear it.
These are situations where you are brought back to a fixed rather than a growth mindset.
To do this, you simply need to practice awareness.
Start by identifying the voice when you hear it.
Next, try to remember what event preceded those negative thoughts.
This presentation discusses success through determination and uses Angela Duckworth's TED Talk on Grit and Jame Escalate's focus on Ganas (determination) through the film Stand and Deliver. In both cases demonstrate how success can come from determination regardless of IQ, social, and economic status.

Learning how to have the mindset for success is crucial when you want a successful and blissful life. If you are like me, you might have many goals you want to achieve. Whatever these goals are, the key is to have a growth mindset rather than a fixed one. But what is the difference and how you get it?

Thinking our capabilities are determined by past success or failure, leads to a way of thinking that psychologist Carol Dweck classified as a ‘fixed mindset.’ This is where we think ‘I’m not good at languages,’ or ‘I’m no good at technology,’ or ‘I’m not a natural authority figure,’ or ‘that’s just not the way things happen here.’ This kind of thinking is not open to change, but all learning requires being open to change.
In these slides, Denise Metzger will give theoretical and practical ideas on how to help teachers and managers move from a ‘fixed’ to ‘growth’ mindset to actively seek and excel in changing educational contexts, in order to learn new ways to be successful.
