Carnival Corporation Plc Executive Summary
As the number of cruise ships continues to increase in the industry, domination by a few
companies continues to rise. Carnival Corporation plc is one of the largest cruise companies in
the world has put orders for three new cruise ships to be built in China. This is in order to have
cruise ships that are going to different routes at a time, hence serving a more diverse customer
base (Vairo, Quagliati, Del Giudice, Barbucci, Fabiano, 2017). The company has already almost
exhausted the older generation of its customers. Carnival Corporation plc has however found it
hard to attract the younger generation. One of the issues is that the younger generation does not
find the idea of a long vacation to be appealing. Another issue for the young people is... Show more

One of the improvement initiatives that the company has been engaged with over the years is
improving the terms of its employees. These terms include their basic pay, overtime pay, rest
hours, medical service schemes and other benefits. This is because, in order for strategic
management and the objectives and goals of a business to be met, they need to have a satisfied
employee base. A satisfied employee base would then be motivated to do their job well. The
American Maritime Union has in the past cited the mistreatments, overworking, underpayment and
exploitation of employees in almost all the cruise ships. Carnival Corporation plc was one of the
cruise ship companies mentioned in this report. In order to improve this, the company has been
engaging with labor unions which represent the employees on the improvement of the above
mentioned terms. As a result, the company has been able to hire employees and run its operations
without running into trouble with unions about their staff. Its operations have therefore gone on

Essay on Right Wing Resurgence
Right Wing Resurgence In the mist of a disgruntled working class, one Austrian born man rose to
power, playing on their fears of immigrants, unemployment and globalization. By mixing social
populism, xenophobia, German nationalism with personal charisma, he was able to make his
political party one of the strongest in his nation. Many would believe that this would be a
description of the infamous dictator Adolph Hitler. Rather, it is a description of Jorg Haider,
recent governor of the Austrian state of Carinthia and former leader of the Austrian Freedom Party.
Austria s freedom party has increased it s power significantly in the last few years. No other party
in Austria has more workers among its voters. Also the Austrian... Show more content on

Both of these parties have been able to obtain much political recognition in their countries. They
also share many of the same characteristics, as well as tactics that have allowed them to become
successful. First, both parties are lead by very charismatic leaders. The Swiss People s Party is
lead by the industrialist Christoph Blocher, while the Freedom Party is lead by Jorg Haider.
Both men are extremely charismatic and energetic. Secondly, these two parties carry much of the
same policy, like incoherent economic policies, a rejection of European integration, and ugly
attacks on immigrants. Oddly, both leaders also have similar views on WWII and the Holocaust.
Christoph Blocher once praised a book that claimed that the Holocaust never took place, while
Jorg Haider has publicly praised Hitler s employment practices, and called SS veterans patriots
(UPI). Similar leaders is not the only thing that the Freedom Party and the Swiss People s Party
have in common. Both parties gain power by playing on people s fear of losing what they have. For
example, both parties claim that immigration is taking jobs away from citizens. Austria however
has 4 percent unemployment, which is less than half of the European Average. Despite an
economic downturn, Switzerland continues to be one of the world s wealthiest nations. (UPI)
While Austria and Switzerland currently have the strongest radical

Euthanasia And The Closely Related Procedure
Euthanasia and the closely related procedure, assisted suicide, are some of the most highly debated
topics in ethics. Although the procedures are different in name, their definitions are quite similar.
Euthanasia can be defined in two ways: passive or active. Passive euthanasia is defined as allowing
the patient s illness to kill them; refusing medical treatment. Active euthanasia, however, is defined
as killing through lethal injection, which also happens to be known as assisted suicide. From the
perspective of the deeply religious to those who just value the life of both themselves and others,
euthanasia and assisted suicide are fancy terms for murder. From my perspective, euthanasia and
assisted suicide are procedures that should only be allowed for those who are suffering from
incurable and physically painful illnesses that incapacitate them to the point where they cannot
properly function in society. What constitutes proper function in society will be discussed later
on, but it plays a pivotal role in the decision that one makes to die or not. Now some may
disagree and say that no matter the circumstance, one does not have the right to end their own life;
this too will be discussed in further detail. This essay will focus on the aspects mentioned above
and will provide the necessary answer to this debate between life and death.
As stated by Nowell Smith, but if we grant, as no doubt we all do, that everyone has a right to life,
if follows as once that we have a right

Global Warming In Hawaii
I wake up to thunder and rumbling, its dark and my body feels as if its falling though the sky.
There are screams of terror that could only belong to the 200 people surrounding me. Confusion
only lasted a few seconds before I remember I m on an airplane to Hawaii; and right now it is
most likely flying over the Pacific Ocean. The oxygen masks drop and I struggle to strap it to
my head. The turbulence is incredibly disorienting and so many questions are running through
my head right now; why did this happen to me , and will I survive this? . Five minutes ago I was
on my way to paradise and now I m headed straight for the water. This almost seems similar the TV
series Lost, but they all crash landed on an island and survived, what are the chances.... Show more

The reason I was heading to Hawaii was for a job with one of the leading facilities in marine
biology, the national institute of oceanographic research. I was planning on studying the effects
of global warming temperature changes on the coral reefs close to the shore of Honolulu. One
of the things I am most passionate about is the environment, and any chance I get to understand
what is constantly damaging it, I take that prospect. On the off point of work, I had planned to
take a helicopter around the island, one thing I find absolutely amazing is how vast the world is.
This job has only been my goal since I wanted to start in marine biology and now I have the
chance to, but the moment of clarity ends and the screams return. I look to my left and there is a
couple embracing each other, hoping and praying for survival. They were my inspiration now,
and I too prayed for the mercy of God. Within split second, all the lights go out and its pitch
black, you can hear suit cases and bags crashing from the overhead compartments. I had no sense
of direction at this time, the only thing I knew was where the front and back of the plane are. I
look back and I realized I don t know where the back of the plane is, it wasn t there anymore and
neither was my hope. I take it gravity is close to taking its next victims,

King Solomon Research Paper
The temple of Jerusalem or the temple built by King Solomon. The establishing is in accordance
with the Divine Eternal Covenant between David and Yahweh. David wanted to build God a
permanent house of worships, where there could be centralized worship for the people of Israel.
Through this covenant with God, God would build Davida family dynasty (House) and David s
son, King Solomon would build the house of worship for God.
According to the ABD, Nothing has survived to the present day of the temple built by King
Solomon. Temple holds a place of great prominence in the architectural history of the Western
world. No other building of the ancient world, either while it stood in Jerusalem or in the millennia
since its final destruction, has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most heralded of all was the building of King Herod. King Herod s plans or desires were
more self serving than Godly. His plans were more geared towards those groups he could glean
something from, his supporters, people he respected or people who might respect him, and the flat
out admiration he pined for. King Herod stayed true to the original dimension of the biblical
temple. However, from there all shackles of conformity were unlocked. Herod would expand and
raise the temple platform, thus creating an unparalleled and truly monumental temple precinct
containing the sanctuary, courts, gates, a fortress (Antonia), approaches, porticoes, and subsidiary
buildings. In keeping up King Herod s ego, the only thing that Herod really out did King Solomon
in the way of building craft. Was the Herod out blinged King Solomon in the gold over laying
inside of the temple?
Not even the calamities of destructions to the religious temples could thwart the desire for a
permanent place to worship for the followers of Judaism and even that of Christianity. Past
tradition and customs is a cornerstone of belief and a way of life for these followers of God. The
quest for rebuilding the past will always be of paramount concern for the believers in Yahweh. As
long as the Torah exists, there will always be a blueprint for God s

The Mexican And Chinese Cultures
1.Cultural diversity is defined as the different combinations of cultural and subcultural minorities
(e.g. ethnic, racial, national, religious, generational, marital status, socioeconomic, occupational,
health status and preference in life partner orientations) coexisting in a given location (Estes, 2014).
The Mexican and Chinese cultures are two cultures from separate geographic continents that I will

When Chinese and Mexican people come to America, they must be able to enculturate and

influenced strongly by home and family. Educating one s self and their children will be priority.
The Chinese and Mexican cultures both have strong ties to influencing or enculturating their

by which an individual learns the traditional content of a culture and assimilates its practices and

Globalization And Corporate Expansion Of American Companies
The globalization and corporate expansion of American companies has promoted inequality in the
United States and the world, largely through means defined to be inhumane. Corporate America has
embraced a hands free method of globalization. By both outsourcing labor and targeting more
consumer groups, especially those yearning for the American Dream, corporate America has
successfully increased profits. Almost everyone on earth is feeling the negative effects of corporate
America s actions. By outsourcing labor, prohibiting unions, disadvantaging women, and driving
wages down, globalizationand corporate expansion advocates for inequality in both the United
Statesand the rest of the world. By moving labor to places outside of the United States, American
companies are able to secure cheap labor. This cheap labor negatively affects the lives of
Americans and foreigners. Some places even paying daily wages below the cost of a loaf of
bread. Not only are the companies driving up their profits, they are globalizing their brand at
almost no cost to them and a massive cost to everyone else. Anywhere litter flows with the brand
of an American company, is free advertising to them. The crushed Coca Cola can or the half
rotted McDonald s bag, all are examples of a free ad. According to John A. Powell and S.P.
Udayakumar, The style of globalism pushed by the United States has favored the free movement
and protection of capital, while being at best indifferent and at worst hostile to

The Manhattan Project Analysis
Starting in 1942, the United States Army, working with the American Government, created a top
secret program named the Manhattan project. In present day 2015 it is still unclear if there was
a specific motif that drove to the creation of the bomb. Nevertheless it can be speculated that the
attacks on Pearl Harbor are largely attributed its creation. In essence, the Bomb (later named fat
boy) had the capabilities to destroy an entire city and was only going to be used when completely
necessary. Promptly enough, a conference was held in July of 1945 in Cecilienhof, Germany called
the Potsdam Conference. The meeting involved the leaders of The Three Powers of USSR, Britain,

Genre of The Amazing Spider Man 2 is action, adventure, and fantasy. The film was set in New
York City during 2010s. A brief storyline of The Amazing Spider Man 2 is that, the main
protagonist Peter Parker discovers that his most critical battle is ready to begin. It is wonderful
to be Spider Man, but for Peter Parker especially, there is no feeling like swinging between
towers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen Stacey who is a girlfriend and a

The director maximized the audiences feelings by using a slow motion skill while she was
falling down to the floor and looking up the Spider man, with her miserable eyes. At a moment
of his web caught her body, her body dropped down on the ground and died. Finally, the Spider
man defeated the enemies and then coming down to the ground to check whether she was alive
or not. At this moment, I thought that the director and editor intentionally deleted all
background music to make audiences only hear his narrative telling to her. I only could hear
him sobbing loudly and he was upset and expressing his deep grief due to the tragic
circumstance. Personally, I did not cry with her death, but I realized something about hero s
tragedy that the hero could not keep his love forever. Through her death, she might be a symbol
to the Spider man that just because he saved people, it did not mean that he is a savior of all
people, including Gwen. In that perspective, Peter Parker is the protagonist and eventually
Gwen s death was about how it affected our hero, but inside of that, they were able to produce
the characters with real activity. Peter returned to home depressed and empty. He threw away his
Spider man uniform and mask for a long time. He talked with his aunt about how to move on
from death and he visited Gwen s grave almost obsessively when every season passes. I found the
part where she falls was countless and it had a higher quality than the rest of the movie

Similarities Between The Book And The Movie The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby Romance, love, and destiny. Connections are formed like bridges built of
various things; love, trust, money, fate. Some bridges are stronger than others and some bridges
connect people who perhaps shouldn t be connected. The movie The Great Gatsby better
expresses the romantic relationships and connections between characters. Between Tom and
Daisy, whose relationship may have more to do with survival than love, with Myrtle and Tom,
the bridge between them connecting two souls searching for something more in life. And then
there are bridges like the one between Jordan and Nick, filled with lies and a bridge not often
travelled, and if you re lucky you come across a bridge like Gatsby and Daisy s, which is made
of love but filled with obstacles. These bridges play a key part in the story and the movie most
definitely does a better job at expressing these connections between characters. Tom and Daisy
have a very complicated relationship and the movie better demonstrates their complex relationship
than the book. The film shows all the small gestures they share, and the novel gives the
impression Daisy somewhat resented Tom after Gatsby s death, and the movie also humanizes
Tom on a higher level than the book. In the film when Daisy told Tom she had never loved him
while they were in town she immediately after addresses Gatsby with a cold reply detaching
herself from the situation and seems angry at Gatsby making her tell Tom she didn t love him (The

The Perfect Opportunity For Learning
have an opportunity to talk about their ideas. This discussion is the perfect opportunity for learning
to happen. According to Stevens and Slavin (1995) cognitive apprenticeship is elaborated in that,
students of different levels of achievement work together to learn. Students with higher level
academic abilities are able to use their own understanding to explain to the other students, whereas,
the lower students are able to use the explanation from their fellow classmates to understand the
material. Cooperative learningis not always viewed looked as the best teaching method.
Other researchers have shown a disadvantage in group work with regard to teaching students. Slow
learning students may lag behind due to their passive nature or lack of confidence (King, 1993).
When the quick learning students dominate the group and discussions, the lower achieving students
may not feel open and free to contributing in the discussion. In this case, the learning opportunity
could pass them by without anyone noticing the lack of understanding. Other limitations of
cooperative learning is the time required for some groups to work in unity and unable to teach the
curriculum in a small group Cooperative Learning setting (Good, Reys, Grouws, Mulryan,
(1989;1990).
2.2 Related Research When referring back to the topic of cooperative learning technique, a lot of
efforts and steps were taken throughout the previous years, and there are still a lot of works that
can be done on it too.

Coquille Indian Tribe Located in Coos Bay, Oregon, lies the Coquille Indian Tribe standing strong

from a, mispronounced or misunderstood native word that described the river along which our

Heritage). Not to mention, that s exactly what this tribe is about, settling on low valleys of the

The group has a unique lifestyle that makes them known as food gatherers and hunters. Most of
their settlements were located along lower parts of streams and rivers as well as the tidewaters.
This made travel easy, because all they had to do was follow the river home, and they would
rarely get lost. Another positive of the settlement near running waters was the abundant supply
of fish year round. The general hunting area was located on the highlands away from the water.
These techniques were not a secret, many tribes used this style of hunting and gathering.
Typically, the villages that were permanent were occupied by the members of a family or band
that lived in houses built of cedar timbers and planks. Villages have several buildings and
housing options to make it unique. Usually there was a long house used for communal purposes
and sheds used for either sleeping or storage. If there was a married couple, they received their
own house to live in with their families as well. Near hunting areas, shelter was no where near as
permanent, and housing was a lot less elaborate, considering they were made of branches under
trees, just enough shelter to keep away rain and wind and to provide shade.

The Perfect Body Article Analysis
The informative mentor text this week was on The Perfect Body. A short article on the media
projecting what their ideas of the perfect body are. Tall and skinny women and bulked up men.
You see these kind of people in magazines, on television and even on video games. I believe the
purpose of the article was to help people realize that many people have things they don t like
about their own bodies and in fact, two out of every five girls and one out of every five boys are
uncomfortable with their bodies. This is stated at the end of the article. I believe the author
succeeds in identifying the objective since the entire article is on the dangers of low self esteem
and feeling like you need to be thin to be pretty. The author mentions anorexia and bulimia as some
of the diseases from trying to hard to achieve such a skinny bodytype. I noticed in the text that the
author is trying to stress that the media may think these super skinny women and bulky men may...

discusses how unhealthy negative body image is. Having low self esteem and feeling like you
re not thin enough is also dangerous. The picture shows a thin woman looking at herself in the

This shows that she has a negative body image idea of her own body and feels like she is fat and
wants to lose more weight, even though she is actually already thin. In the grammar, I noticed that
every time the author wrote about the perfect body she used quotation marks around the word

Gender Criticism and The Turn of the Screw by Henry James
Gender Criticism and The Turn of the Screw
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James continues to stir up an immense amount of controversy for
such a short novel. Making a definite, educated decision on the actual truth considering the
countless inquiries that develop while reading this story proves more difficult than winning a
presidential election. That being understood, taking one particular side on any argument from a
close reading of the story seems impossible, because the counter argument appears just as
conceivable. Any side of the controversy remains equally disputable considerably supported by
textual evidence from the novel. One issue which, like the rest, can be answered in more than one
ways is why Mrs. Grose believes the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a story predominantly populated by people of the lower class, living servants like Mrs.
Grose and a governess, which is our narrator, and the not so living servants like Miss Jessel and
Quint. It is interesting to see how throughout the novel the Governess is proud to place herself
slightly above the other servants, just as Mrs. Grose places Miss Jessel above Quint, however the
fact of the matter was that to the rest of society, these people were all considered to be on the same
bottom level of the socio economic ranking at the time. Robbins brings up an interesting idea in his
criticism that Henry James is trying to explain the standpoint of society throughout the novel,
which is that society felt that servants were not meant to be part of real society but were meant
to just blend into the background and do their job without really being noticed or acknowledged.
He basically uses the ghosts as symbols, even reminders of the fact that the governess is just like
them, in the way that she is below most of society since she is an upper class servant, and is
therefore invisible and something less than [a] human being (336). The housemaids, the
dairywoman, the gardener, and an old pony were all said to be equivalents to each other, therefore
making these servants comparable to a pony, which is definitely not making them on the same
level as other human beings, let alone those of a higher class. James is

Causes Of The Industrial Revolution
By 1750, there was not much doubt that if any country was going to triumph in being the first
industrial power it would be England (Hobsbawm 29). However, several factors were responsible
for England s emergence as an industrial power. Some of the contributing factors for the Industrial
Revolution were: the increasing importance of imperial goods such as cotton, cultural traditions
that stemmed from the Renaissance and the Reformation, population change, and a government
willing to subordinate all foreign policy to its economic ends. Socially, the Industrial Revolutionin
England changed exponentially with the growing drift between the class hierarchy. Instead of
reverting to social revolution as occurred in France, England experienced political reform during the
Industrial Revolution that would become a symbol of hope for thriving countries. There has been
much speculation on the exact reason the Industrial Revolution began in England in the late 18th
Century, but certain components are undisputed for the Revolution s occurrence there. Initially,
Britain already had a large, developed supply of coal and iron which gave the British a start in
mass metallurgy (Perry 286). There also was a surplus of capital available for investments to be
made in new industries; however, these funds came from wealthy landowners and merchants who
had grown rich in commerce through the slave trade (Perry 287). With the start of their own
capitalist industrialization, England

officers to be aware of the area and they try to crackdown on the crime. The second transferable
key that is important to me is problem solving. The reason I chose this is, because it is very
important to dealing with conflict. Problem solving is an everyday thing in my household. We
were taught by our parents to solve problems within our conflicts because the more we avoided
the conflict, the worse it got. The one example I would use is a conflict between my brother and
I. I had a car this summer that belonged to me that I pay for to maintain. But my brother always
wants to take it when I m at home but he only pays for his gas. I confronted him about the
situation to let him know that if he drives the car the same amount of times I do, that the car
belongs to him equally. So I told him he needs to pays for my gas all the time or pay for insurance.
We argued for a couple of hours, so my father came in between and told us we need to solve this
probably or else he ll take the car keys from us. So finally we came to a agreement of splitting
everything equally. He pays for half of everything and that I pay the other half. The reason this
skill is important to us is that if we didn t get to solve our problem none of us would have a car.
This skill would assist me in my future field of policing

Andrew Largeman Character Analysis
Andrew Largeman (Zack Braff, Director and Writer) is a man unphased by situations around him.
He and every other character live a, for the most part, unimpressive life with minor successes and
major sorrows.
Andrew goes through life in a state of constant observation, taking in every detail, good or bad,
with a blank expression until he meets a quirky girl named Sam, (Natalie Portman) at the doctor s
office, who has problems of her own. The two quickly bond and open up to each other in the
awkward scene of a hamster funeral in Sam s backyard. She does not break him entirely out of
the wall he has up around himself, but she obviously lowers it in a few places and gains his trust
even though she is ironically, a pathological liar.
Andrew has come back home to attend his mother s funeral, but has been away for so long he has
become estranged to his New Jersey hometown and everyone in it. The reunited ... Show more

An overwhelming yet underlying theme throughout the movie is awkwardness, but the

Katherine Skloot s The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks
Henrietta Lacks went into John Hopkins Hospital to be treated for a tumor, where her cells were
taken without the knowledge of her or her family. When her cells were tested, a theory that was
losing promise with each trial done became possible. Henrietta Lacks s cells not only helped with
the growing cells theory but were also found to be immortal. Desire for these cells to experiment
on grew world wide, resulting in the creation of a multi million dollar industry. Henrietta s cells
have made many people rich... And yet her children can t afford health insurance. Rebecca Skloot,

It s not fair! She s the most important person in the world and her family is living in poverty. If
our mother is so important to science, why can t we get health insurance? (Skloot 168). This
passage plays such an important role because it demonstrates not only the effects of poverty in
the children s lives, but also the lack of ethics shown by the hospital and its employees. In just
this one passage, it embodies a whole series of wrongdoings that this book is centered around.
Hopkins unlawfully took Henrietta s cells, then they became distributed for a profit, a profit the
family received no part of. In fact the family didn t even know the cells were taken until 25 years
later. A whole 25 years they had been going without for many medical needs while others were
making a profit hand over fist from her cells. Skloot s book encapsulates this problem and
understanding it plays a key role in understanding not only the Lacks children s anger, but also
Skloot s purpose for writing the book the way she did. Ethics is told to be the concept of right
and wrong, a type of moral compass that helps guide people through life. No one is thought to be
held to a higher standard of ethics than doctors, but to the people in the public wards, doctors were
merely scientists, experimenting on the people as a misconstrued form of payment. Patients of the
public ward

Unconditional Love in E.B. White s Charlotte s Web
In fantasy like Charlotte s Web, the animals are true to their natures, yet similar to people. They
think and worry and love and hurt and laugh and needle one another as people do. In Charlotte s
Web, human truths of friendship and love are revealed. I strongly agree with the statement that
Charlotte is truly the ideal role model of unconditional love and will support my stand by
highlighting
Charlotte s selfless acts, contrasting her with Templeton, showing why he is the complete opposite
of her, comparing her with other models of love such as Fern, Mrs. Arable and the goose and lastly,
proving that
Wilbur s change is a result of her unconditional love.

Charlotte has encouraged, protected, and mothered Wilbur, bargained and sacrificed for him, and
Wilbur the grateful receiver, realizes that Friendship is one of the most satisfying things in the

It is, essentially, her actions that prove to be a testament for her unconditional love.
In Bad News , when Wilbur hears he is being fattened for slaughter, he wails. However, Charlotte
asserts calmly, I am going to save you.
Charlotte is driven to save him, ...I am not going to let you die,

Moreover, to keep Wilbur from worrying, Charlotte is able make him think she is in the process

Wilbur that she would save his life, she was determined to keep her promise...and she felt sure that
if she thought long enough about Wilbur s problem, an idea would come to her mind. Finally, one

My Life Reflection
1999, a time for some people where Y2K was encroaching, a time for others where the famous
films Sixth Sense, The Matrix and the beloved Disney film Tarzan was their favorite movie and
not to mention definitely a time where we could go to the grocery store and not spend a fortune
at checkout. However, for me, this particular year, especially December 7 ,1999, was the worst
day of my life. My life changed when my brother s heart stopped beating. It is easier to
emotionally adjust and understand when older or sick loved ones die. The comfort of knowing
they are in a better place soon or immediately follows after their death. But when a child just a few
months shy of 11 dies suddenly, without a simple or plausible explanation, life seems
backwards. I was only six when we put my older brother in the ground. His death was my
greatest adversity, but it also facilitated a new intellectual framework, that even now at twenty
four years old, I hold dear. Immediately following, I began to question everything. When I say
everything, I most certainly mean, the word why became my favorite response to statements or
opinions. I no longer took any information at face value. I needed to exercise my knowledge
craving for why things happen, what variables take part in its origin, or simply where did it come
from and what can we do to help or stop this particular action. As each year passed, my growing
desire for intellectual insight and search for viable solutions, grew from

to explain and persuade to the readers that non violent resistance is the best way to gain support
and to be heard. Chavez uses one of his rhetorical questions in paragraph 13, that states, Who

people Workers are affected by the violence. This helps him convince the reader by telling how
people are being hurt by the violent structures of others making the reader feel like it s wrong to

The Physiological Effect Of Nitric Oxide
The physiological effects of nitric oxide were first recognized in 1876, but was not acknowledged
for its physiological and medical usage until the late 20th century. Since then, inhaled nitric oxide
has been used by medical clinicians for the treatment of neonates who suffer from hypoxic
respiratory failure linked with persistent pulmonary hypertension and for the treatment of adults
with pulmonary hypertension associated with respiratory distress syndrome. Although inhaled
nitric oxidehas been known to offer great benefits for patients with respiratory diseases, it may
also have a detrimental effect on patients if the accurate amount of dosage is not administered
properly. To ensure the proper dosage is being administered to the patient, there are several newly
designed nitric oxide systems being developed to use in conjunction with mechanical ventilation or
for single use. Nitric oxide therapy has improved drastically over the last twenty years, but it is still
being developed and researched in pursuit of the most effective treatment for patients with
respiratory diseases.
Nitric oxide is a toxic gas that supports combustion, it is also colorless, odorless, highly diffusible,
but nonflammable unless mixed with another gas. In 1876 a physician named Thomas Lauder
Brunton recognized the physiological effects of nitric oxide by experimenting with his patients.

Professional Development And Continuous Learning
POLICY
This Policy stems from the view that professional development and continuous learning are
necessary to maintain the quality of the University staff and their continued readiness and ability to
contribute effectively to the mission and goals of the University.
Policy is not a firmly characterized idea but rather a profoundly adaptable one, utilized as a part of
distinctive courses on diverse events.
A particular choice or set of choices intended to complete such a strategy.
Policy Procedure
Responsibilities
Individual staff members, managers and the University share the responsibility for staff
development.
Staff members are encouraged to take responsibility for their own work related learning and career
development. They are also encouraged to assist others in their development.
The University is responsible for providing opportunities, resources and tools so that staff can
become competent in their roles and achieve their career aspirations.
Identifying development needs
A staff member s learning and development needs are primarily identified through the performance
cycle and are captured in the staff member s Performance Workplan.
Recognizing learning and improvement needs depends on a formal or casual evaluation of winning
levels of abilities, mentalities and information, and on any present or foreseen crevices. Such an
investigation will empower choices about what realizing procurements are required at individual,
group or hierarchical level. These

Contractile Force Report
2. Figure 1 for Exercise 1, shows a positive linear tread, when stimulus intensity (V) increases the
contractile force (N) also increases. As the stimulus intensity increases more motor units are
recruited. To emphasize, when you have a stronger stimulus the more motor unit recruitment will
get excited and thus more will contract. Physiologically, a skeletal musclemembrane is getting
depolarized by a stimulus. The depolarization stimulus will allow for Na+ to flow into the cell
which allows the action potential to flow down into the T tubule. The DHP receptor will open,
which is connected to the RyR Ca2+ release channel to open. This allows for calcium to flow into
the cytoplasm from sarcoplasmic reticulum. The calcium ion binds to troponin which allows
tropomyosin to move off the actin myosinbinding sites. The myosin will bind to the actin binding
site and cross bridge cycling will take place causing a muscle contraction. Therefore, the more
depolarized the cells are (from a higher stimulus intensity), the more calcium will be in the cell to
bind to troponin, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The relationship observed shows that as the stimulus interval decreases in time the contractile force
increase. Mechanistically, when there is less time for the muscle to recover from the contraction,
not all of the calcium is unbound from the troponin, which will keep the actin myosin sites open for
power stroking. If another stimulus reaches the cell before the muscle can recover, then there will
be even more calcium in the cytoplasm, increasing more sites for cross bridges. If the stimulus is
far enough apart it will lead to an unfused tetanus, meaning that there is a slight relax between
contractions. The difference between this and exercise 1 is that exercise one is one stimulus and a
change of intensity, which increases the motor unit recruitment. Exercise 3, is a consistent intensity
of stimulus (recruiting the same motor units each time) but a change in how quickly each stimulus is

Counseling Family Confidentiality
Chapter 10: Counseling Families and Groups Counseling families can be difficult to enforce
confidentiality that can be difficult t o make obligatory in group settings. Therefore, counselors
should make extra efforts to ensure that group members understand the concept on how important
confidentiality is (Remley Herlihy, 2014, p.271). Chapter 10 provides information on developing
diversity and values in family and group counseling.
How is confidentiality different when counseling couples, families, or groups, as opposed to
counseling an individual client? According to the text book, confidentiality is different with
couples and families due to privileged communication. When dealing with married couples, there
are situations where stressful topics are discussed between the husband and the wife and later on a
divorce may occur. One of the spouses may want a counselor to repeat confidential information in a
legal court about the other spouse during their counseling sessions, whereas, the other spouse wants
to keep her information enclosed ( Remley Herlihy, 2014, p.256).When counseling an individual
client, the client is the only person that the counselor have to obligate to when ensuring
confidentiality. ACA Codes of Ethics states that in a couples and family counseling, counselors
clearly defines who is considered the client and discusses expectation and limitation of
confidentiality, ( 2014, Standard b.4.b.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Objectivity And The Phenomenological Reduction
Objectivity is a funny way of people justifying their own subjections. Edmund Husserl is the guy to
talk to if you want to be confused by what objectivity means. I say confused, because Husserl s path
through the end product of the phenomenological reduction leads him to contradictions, which
generate revisions of his investigation. Eventually his revisions lead to a happy phenomenological
objective ending and will be discussed along with another objectivity viewpoint: The View from
Nowhere. Lastly I ll give you my objective/subjective opinion on which objectivity I think is more
convincing. Objectivity to Husserl is what he considered the phenomenological reduction. The aim
of the initial phenomenological reduction is to individuate correctly the domain of pure
consciousness as the domain of meaning constitution (Moran 78). I ll attempt to use logicas an
example: the proper objectof logic is to study the relationship between the contents of expressions
and what is being expressed; Modus Ponens states that if p then q is accepted, and the antecedent p
holds, then the consequent q may be inferred. Logic is only interested in the functional relation
between the truthvalue of p and q in the domain where Modus Ponens is applicable. Because
logic, in one domain is only interested in the functional relation between p and q, its overall truth
value is limited to a one sided truth. Logic deals with validities and the laws in which hold between
them. Ideal laws of

In Both Sylvia Plath’S The Bell Jar And Kate Chopin’S The
In both Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar and Kate Chopin s The Awakening, the female protagonist is
portrayed as an artist who suffers from mental instability. Although the works were written over 60
years apart, The Awakening in 1889 and The Bell Jar in 1963, both novels were revolutionary for
their times in terms of feminism, extramarital sex, and suicide. Both works explore the ways that
females may temporarily escape, or attempt to escape, the confines of their own minds: the chains
that lead them to attempt or complete suicide. Each woman finds brightness in her art, Edna with
her painting and Esther through writing, immersion in water, and the ability to embrace her
sexuality. Both novels use vivid symbolism to portray the feelings of... Show more content on

Joyce Dyer comments that the bird and Edna resemble each other in another way; both are
meant to be wild, but are domesticated for the sake of the family. She even has Madame
Ratignolle feel [her] shoulder blades, to see if [her] wings were strong hoping that she too has
wings to allow her to fly away from the expectations of tradition set on her (Chopin 300.) While
Edna expresses that she is not thinking of any extraordinary flights, to Arobin, she does not deny
her wish to fly, and escape from society (300). Unlike before, when Edna wishes to have wings, in
this instance Edna realizes that she has wings, or the power to escape. This changes her true desires
from wanting to fly to not becoming one of the weaklings bruised, exhausted, fluttering back to
earth (300). Although Edna has not acted upon her thoughts to become free, she is aware that she
has the power to escape and live outside of society. Through the bird symbolism, Chopin suggests
that women lack the ability to be happy within the circumstances society expects them to maintain.
Both women also find freedom through immersion in water. In The Bell Jar, Esther Greenwood
finds freedom in her baths. She takes baths to clean and purify herself from the grime of the world
around her, even saying I never feel so much myself as when I m in a hot bath (Plath 20). Edna

How To Write An Essay About Being A Firefighter

Analysis Of Gilbert Tuhabonye In Michael Hall s Running...
Running for His Life In the article Running for His Life by Michael Hall he explains the traumatic
experience Gilbert Tuhabonye had to experience in his hometown when he was young. In Burundi
his peers were assassinated by people they ve known most of their life who happened to be Hutu.
The Hutu clan wanted all Tutsipeople dead. They were determined to eliminate all Tutsi
individuals. They killed hundreds of young students in his school that day. They set the school
on fire so no one would survive. Everyone was in terrible pain they just wanted it to be over. He
was in pain as well, part of his body was on fire. He then tried to kill himself by putting an end to
his breathing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, Gilbert Tuhabonye s agent John Conley states Before a race, I tell him he s done the
work... he just has to not to let the negative talk in his head get to him. (603) This quotation
shows that Tuhabonye feels as he isn t good enough, and although he s done all the work he still
has trouble accepting the fact that he is outstanding at what he does. When he went through the
horrible experience of being treated like he was worth absolutely nothing by the Hutus. He had
no self confidence and some of that is still with him. Tuhabonye coaches people to be the best
they can be and also motivates them, even though he needs to be motivating himself. If he
believed in himself more, he could become unstopable. Also, John Conley recounts that
Tuhabonye thinks These guys are better than me, and he puts himself in last place. (603) This
quotation shows how low his self esteem actually is, he doesn t give himself enough credit.
Tuhabonye is hard on himself because he knows nothing is easy. Coming from a third world
country he has built himself up from nothing, and he knows he has a long road ahead of him.
Everyone in his life believes he can achieve his goals except himself and thats something that he
needs to work on according to his agent. He wants to win an Olympic medal and he knows he has

Sustainable Solutions Paper wk 7 draft
Sustainable Solutions at Dell
Joy Carter
DBA Strategy
Dr. Denise Land
March 2010
Sustainable Solutions and Dell Computers In this tech driven world, computers, and electronics are
the common denominators. Millions of people use computers and electronic devices multiple
times every day. Between innovation and use, the need to replace these devices is paramount and
creates a solid market for certain electronic manufacturers. One of the biggest environmental
concerns is toxic waste and plastics in landfills. A report about e waste on the Greenpeace website
states that more than 4.6 million [tons] of e waste ended up in landfills in the United States in
2000. Toxic chemicals in electronics products can leach into the land over... Show more content on

In the last portion of the paper, various complexity analysis tools are examined in relation to Dell
and the computer/technology industry. The industry was examined in terms for the Fitness
Landscape, Boid Analysis, Industry Evolution Modeling, and Life Cycle Analysis. Examining Dell
in the context of multiple frameworks granted insights into key factors such as material inputs,
resource depletion, byproducts, waste and disposal options and stakeholder versus societal
obligations and responsibilities. An analysis of the Sustainable Value Framework, including a
detailed analysis of the sustainable value of Dell and its products and services rounds out the
research.
Key Take aways
One critical factor repeatedly presented itself throughout this research project and that is the
absolute necessity for Dell to find a way to innovate in a sustainable manner. Having Chairman
Michael Dell at the helm again is beneficial to the growth and cohesive vision of the firm, but
Dell is losing ground to rivals such as HP in the areas of technological advances and sales.
Another key take away is that Dell leaders must invest in the training and re educating of
employees and invest in the research and development of products in collaboration with the firm s
key suppliers in its network. Critical to the success

What Makes Fermat s Last Theorem
Fermat s Last Theorem
The year is 1637. Pierre de Fermat sits in his library, huddled over a copy of Arithmetica written by
the Greek mathematician Diaphantus in the third century A. D. Turning the page, Fermat comes
across the Pythagorean equation:
x 2 + y 2 = z 2. He leans back in his chair to think and wonders if this property is limited to the
power of two only. He bends over the book again, scanning ahead through the pages to look for any
clues. Suddenly, he begins writing intensely in the margin: It is impossible for a cube to be written
as a sum of two cubes, or for a fourth power to be written as the sum of two fourth powers or, in
general, for any number which is a power greater than the second to be written as a ... Show more

His peers, both contemporary and future, recognized his amazing talent: leading mathematical
historian of the twentieth century, E. T. Bell, labeled him Prince of Amateurs . Author Julian
Coolidge excluded him from his work Mathematics of Great Amateurs because Fermat was so
really great that he should count as a professional. He had a habit of jotting down his work and
thoughts as notes in margins or on napkins and omitting any formal proof. Fermat claimed to
have derivations for all of his notes these cryptic comments were theorems for him but only
conjectures for the rest of the mathematical community. Fermat s Last Theorem, therefore, is a
misnomer: it should more appropriately be referred to as Fermat s Last Conjecture! In 1670, five
years after Fermat s death, his observations including a vaguely outlined proof for n=4 showing
no whole number solutions for the equation x 4 + y 4 = z4 were published by one of his sons,
Clement Samuel Fermat. He included them as annotations and notes to Diaphantus Arithmetica;
they are the only link to Fermat s Last Theorem as his original copy has never been discovered.
What followed were centuries of attempts and frustrating failures, as mathematicians the world over
endeavored to challenge and solve Fermat s marginal notation. In 1718, the prominent European
mathematician Leonhard Euler proved the

Globalization And Religion
Globalization is defined by Uwah (2017 p.81) as the process through which social, political,
pecuniary and cultural interactions are intensified to international scale. Therefore, the driving
force behind globalization is to enable transcendental unification of socio economic and political
ideologies across borders. Further, Kasongo (2010 p.309) looks at a globalization as the dispersion
of practices, ties, consciousness and recollection of people s social lives on worldwide scale.
Religionis one of the oldest institutions in the history of humanity. On the other hand,
globalization is considered as a revolutionary process which intensified after the Soviet Union
collapsed. Globalization of religion traces its start from the times of Alexander the Great and when
Buddhism was first conceived by Chandragupta Maurya. In this period, the increasing powers of
religion cased significant effects on imperial armies and trade economies. According to Nggong
(2014), globalization caused the unification of religions and cultural ways of life; leading to the
emergence of civilizations, and evolution of trade routes. These activities marked great historical
periods like colonization of the Americas, Africa, and Asia. The current study looks into the impact
of globalization on local religious practices and how global movement of people, ideas, finance and
technologies impacted the religious practices on the African continent.
According to Ezenweke and Nwadialor (2013), globalization

Women Of The Victorian Era
Intro Throughout history, women are casted with the role of being docile, obedient, and fragile by
the traditional values of the patriarchy society. In the nineteenth century during the Victorian era,
men expect women to maintain the domestic sphere as a cheerful pure haven for them when they
return home from work. The cult of true womanhood which was believed by both the Northern and
Southern states at the time was based on four main ideas: the sphere of home and the competitive
world outside which contrast the female and male nature; the belief that the home is the female s
only suitable sphere; women s moral superiority; and the idealization for women to behave as wife
and mother. It was expected that the world outside of home belongs to men because of its brutal
environment and competitive atmosphere, and women belongs to the moral sanctuary of society
called home. There are other influences that furthermore constrict women by spreading ideas of
how women should behave. Books and articles written by female and male authors often ask
women to be religious, domestic, and womanly to glorify their feminine role and seek fulfillment
within their own sphere. However, many women refused to be constrained by male dominance,
propriety, and the ideology of feminine virtue that paralyzed many Victorian women. Some
expressed their grievances against male authority, stereotypes about women, and their lack of power
in political dilemmas by writing. Female authors such as Charlotte

Gps Limitations And Limitations Of Gps
. GPS Limitations Although already widely accepted and deployed, GPS has its inherent
drawbacks and limits which make GPS unsuitable in many scenarios. Those limitations include:
Economics: The price and energy cost of GPS components is usually much higher than its
alternatives. Though some GPS systems are inexpensive, cheap solutions may have significantly
reduced quality. And it is usually very energy consuming. For instance, GPS on smart phones
consumes much large portion of energy than other integrated sensing and communicating
components. Even with the high cost, GPS on consumer devices cannot provide desired
performance. Accuracy: The accuracy of GPS is usually not enough when small scale of space
and fine grained location discrimination are considered, especially on nonprofessional devices
with poor quality. And due to its inherent large scale, GPS is difficult to maintain and update,
while in many scenarios, the space of interest for localizing is highly dynamic. Speed and
reliability: Mobile phone GPS users usually experience slow updating of their locations. And since
GPS requires LOS paths to satellites and stable signal coverage, GPS is not practical or available
in many cases. Thus, techniques assisting GPS with LPS components have received many
attentions from both industry and academia in recent years. An approach widely used on mobile
phone navigations is cellular networking based localization. The global deployment and general
availability of cellular

Questions On Financial Reporting Disclosures
1.Introduction
ICAEW made nine recommendations about financial reporting disclosures in 2013 to solve current
disclosure overload problem. This report will mainly argue against recommendation four. Choosing
this prospect because one of the objectives of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is to protect
consumers from being taken advantage of by other informed participants in the capital market.
Among all the suggestions, disclosing different reports for different users has the most significant
influence on investors and capital market.
Section 2 of this report will firstly discuss the probability of fraudulent financial reporting and the
fairness problem. Then the information asymmetry problem and the instability of the security market

Assuming public companies are allowed to distinguish classes of users, the decision relevant
information could be split on the basis of different interests and somebody may take advantage of
this loophole to provide fraudulent information for a favourable outcome in stock price.
2.2Example of FFR
According to the most resent report from Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE,
2008), from January 2006 to February 2008, among all types of frauds, FFR associated with
largest average cost which was $258 million, while the second largest was $34 million.
Furthermore, the study from KPMG (2003) and ACFE (2008) all agreed FFR is the least
common but most costly fraud (Carcello and Hermanson, 2008). The estimated annual cost of
FFR in USA is $1 trillion (ACFE, 2008), and this is just under the relaxed disclosure regulation,
which is the Securities Offering Reform, issued in 2005 in America (Clinton et al., 2014). And
FFR is certainly not limited to the United States (Zack, 2009). Hence, FCA considered FFR facts
in US as a lesson and involved in a special project in 2010 in UK to examine fraud in public
companies (Fisher et al., 2010). To conclude, recommendation four could increase the probability of
FFR which could stimulate the stock price, and that will harm consumers and encourage the
unhealthy competition in security market.

Abolishment Of The Fairness Doctrine
The immediate impact following the abolishment of the Fairness Doctrine was rise of right wing
talk radio shows and the emergence of right leaning cable news station, Fox News. With the end of
the Fairness Doctrine, no longer holds broadcasters and radio hosts to balance their programing. In
addition, technological advancement allowed national syndicate talk radio shows to emerge enable
the rise of conservative radio talks to grow exponentially. Especially, a year later after the repeal in
1988, Rush Limbaugh would become the top radio host in the country. Throughout his radio
program, Limbaugh is advancing the right wing agenda. This was evident in the viewership account

Favorable liquidity ratios are critical to a company and its creditors within a business or
industry that does not provide a steady and predictable cash flow. They are also a key predictor
of a company s ability to make timely payments to creditors and to continue to meet obligations
to lenders when faced with an unforeseen event. The inventory turnover ratio is an efficiency
ratio that shows how effectively inventory is managed by comparing cost of goods sold with
average inventory for a period. This measures how many times average inventory is turned or
sold during a period. The inventory turnover ratio for Woolworths is 10, which is comparable to
the baseline of 10. The Receivable Turnover Ratio measures how many times a business can turn
its accounts receivable into cash during a period. In other words, the accounts receivable
turnover ratio measures how many times a business can collect its average accounts receivable
during the year. From a 5 yr. standpoint, Woolworths collects its receivables every 20 days where
the baseline is a month. Higher efficiency is favorable from a cash flow standpoint as well. If a

New England, Middle, And Southern Colonies
There were many different early American colonies. The settlers in these colonies came from many
different places such as; England, France, Spain, and The Netherlands. Also, the settlers in these
colonies settled for many different reasons. The New England, Middle, and Southern colonies
developed a different way of life because of differences in aspects of life such as; government,
religion, and geography.
To begin, the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies developed a different way of life
because of differences in aspects of life such as government. A quote from the document Should
Government be based on religion? (document b) is, Why government should be based on religion
(...) authority from God. This quote is from founder of one of the New England colonies and he is
saying that the New England colonies have religion based on god because god is giving them
authority to do everything. Another quote to support this claim from the textbook History Alive on
page 55 is, Middle colony(...) government: self governing. This quote is showing that in the middle
colonies they had a self governing government or the government was based off the people and
less off of a god leading them. These two quotes tie back to the claim because it shows how the
government was different from the Middle colonies (based off the people) to the New England
colonies (based off religion). Also, the way a place is ran will cause the people to act and do things
differently, overall

Flesh And Blood So Cheap By Albert Marin
The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory made in 1911 had no fire extinguishers or smoke detectors
though they were both made before 1911. In the story, Flesh and Blood So Cheap, by Albert

unsafe practices led to 146 deaths in the Triangle fire in 1911. Nobody really knew how the fire
started in the factory because the building was fireproof. But some say it started with a cigarette
that was smoked inside and was thrown into the trash inside or, a cutter that flicked a hot ash into

The Fog Horn Ray Bradbury Summary
The story The Fog Horn by Ray Bradbury is about a monster that attacks two men working in an
isolated lighthouse. The lighthouse has a fog horn which Johnny, who is the narrator, and his boss
McDunn. One night the two were discussing how the fog horn sounds like a big lonely animal
crying in the night . Later a dinosaur like monster comes out from the sea and starts communicating
with the fog horn. The men discuss about how it is the last one in existence and how lonely it is.
They then decide to experiment with the monster and turnoff the horn. The monster becomes
enraged when the sound is turned off and attacks the lighthouse. The men hide in a cellar while the
monster destroys the lighthouse. As thy hide in the cellar they can hear the monsters cry, which
sounds identical to the fog horn. The monster then disappeared after its cry. They were rescued the
next day and told their rescuers that the cause was waves. No one ever found out about the monster,
and it never returned. This story is shows us that loneliness can cause anger.
In this story we see what being lonely can do. The story says, Think of it, waiting a million
years; could you wait that long? Maybe it s the last of its kind (Bradbury 3). I agree with this
story s meaning. I agree that if someone or something is lonely that can cause anger. We as readers
could tell that the two men were very insensitive towards the sea monster. The story says, The Fog
Horn blew. The monster answered (Bradbury 4). When

Parallelism In Grapes Of Wrath
Lydia Aremu
Kleyn
AP Literature/period

Renewal in The Grapes of Wrath
John Steinbeck usually uses California and the Salinas valley as his setting and is usually
placed in the 30s when the great depression occurred. The Grapes of Wrath is about a family
living in Oklahoma and they are farmers during the period called the dustbowl in which culture
was rough because there were droughts and conditions were not suitable for farming. This family,
because they are not doing too well, decide to move to California to find jobs and dignity. The
author writes about the struggle of a family during and Great Depression and also the struggle of
each individual as their lives are being torn apart. He not only shows how they go through these
hardships, but also how they will overcome them. In John Steinbeck s novel, The Grapes of Wrath,
he argues that all who follow the ways of the Bible will become renewed at the end. He uses
religion and parallelism in order to bring to light, the chance of hope that is evident within dire
circumstances, and project changes within people during turmoil.
The Grapes of Wrath incorporates parallels between both the Old Testament and the New
Testament. Steinbeck uses biblical symbols from the book Exodus to tell the story of the Joad
family s journey to California. The Dust Bowl, which is the reason they are leaving Oklahoma, is a
representation of the plague. Another symbol used in this novel is Noah s Ark. This represents the
truck they used

The Importance Of Christianity In The Christian Worldview
One s worldview is the structure from which we view reality and make sense of life. We have all
contemplated some common questions. What is our purpose? How was the earth created? Is there
eternity? Why is there evil and suffering? The Christian worldview is consistent when responding
to these questions because of their beliefs and faith in God.
God
In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). God created all living
beings and He created man to live in His image. His creation was made in six days and on the
seventh day He rested. Before the world began, the Word was there, The Word was with God, and
the Word was with God. He was there with God in the beginning. Everything was made through
him, and nothing was made without him (John1:1 3). God is best described as the Holy Trinity: God
the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ who is fully God and fully man), and God the Holy Spirit.
Three persons, same substance, one God: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. As stated in
Lecture 2, all three persons were involved in the creation (Lecture 2). According to Christians, God
is the sovereign creator of the heavens and of the earth and is their ultimate reality. God s
characteristics are being loving, kind, compassionate, and forgiving. Other attributes are that he is
eternal, infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, immutable and incomprehensible (Lecture
2). On the sixth day of creation, God created man. The Pinnacle of Creation

  • 2. Carnival Corporation Plc Executive Summary As the number of cruise ships continues to increase in the industry, domination by a few companies continues to rise. Carnival Corporation plc is one of the largest cruise companies in the world has put orders for three new cruise ships to be built in China. This is in order to have cruise ships that are going to different routes at a time, hence serving a more diverse customer base (Vairo, Quagliati, Del Giudice, Barbucci, Fabiano, 2017). The company has already almost exhausted the older generation of its customers. Carnival Corporation plc has however found it hard to attract the younger generation. One of the issues is that the younger generation does not find the idea of a long vacation to be appealing. Another issue for the young people is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the improvement initiatives that the company has been engaged with over the years is improving the terms of its employees. These terms include their basic pay, overtime pay, rest hours, medical service schemes and other benefits. This is because, in order for strategic management and the objectives and goals of a business to be met, they need to have a satisfied employee base. A satisfied employee base would then be motivated to do their job well. The American Maritime Union has in the past cited the mistreatments, overworking, underpayment and exploitation of employees in almost all the cruise ships. Carnival Corporation plc was one of the cruise ship companies mentioned in this report. In order to improve this, the company has been engaging with labor unions which represent the employees on the improvement of the above mentioned terms. As a result, the company has been able to hire employees and run its operations without running into trouble with unions about their staff. Its operations have therefore gone on ... • 3. Essay on Right Wing Resurgence Right Wing Resurgence In the mist of a disgruntled working class, one Austrian born man rose to power, playing on their fears of immigrants, unemployment and globalization. By mixing social populism, xenophobia, German nationalism with personal charisma, he was able to make his political party one of the strongest in his nation. Many would believe that this would be a description of the infamous dictator Adolph Hitler. Rather, it is a description of Jorg Haider, recent governor of the Austrian state of Carinthia and former leader of the Austrian Freedom Party. Austria s freedom party has increased it s power significantly in the last few years. No other party in Austria has more workers among its voters. Also the Austrian... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of these parties have been able to obtain much political recognition in their countries. They also share many of the same characteristics, as well as tactics that have allowed them to become successful. First, both parties are lead by very charismatic leaders. The Swiss People s Party is lead by the industrialist Christoph Blocher, while the Freedom Party is lead by Jorg Haider. Both men are extremely charismatic and energetic. Secondly, these two parties carry much of the same policy, like incoherent economic policies, a rejection of European integration, and ugly attacks on immigrants. Oddly, both leaders also have similar views on WWII and the Holocaust. Christoph Blocher once praised a book that claimed that the Holocaust never took place, while Jorg Haider has publicly praised Hitler s employment practices, and called SS veterans patriots (UPI). Similar leaders is not the only thing that the Freedom Party and the Swiss People s Party have in common. Both parties gain power by playing on people s fear of losing what they have. For example, both parties claim that immigration is taking jobs away from citizens. Austria however has 4 percent unemployment, which is less than half of the European Average. Despite an economic downturn, Switzerland continues to be one of the world s wealthiest nations. (UPI) While Austria and Switzerland currently have the strongest radical ... • 4. Euthanasia And The Closely Related Procedure Euthanasia and the closely related procedure, assisted suicide, are some of the most highly debated topics in ethics. Although the procedures are different in name, their definitions are quite similar. Euthanasia can be defined in two ways: passive or active. Passive euthanasia is defined as allowing the patient s illness to kill them; refusing medical treatment. Active euthanasia, however, is defined as killing through lethal injection, which also happens to be known as assisted suicide. From the perspective of the deeply religious to those who just value the life of both themselves and others, euthanasia and assisted suicide are fancy terms for murder. From my perspective, euthanasia and assisted suicide are procedures that should only be allowed for those who are suffering from incurable and physically painful illnesses that incapacitate them to the point where they cannot properly function in society. What constitutes proper function in society will be discussed later on, but it plays a pivotal role in the decision that one makes to die or not. Now some may disagree and say that no matter the circumstance, one does not have the right to end their own life; this too will be discussed in further detail. This essay will focus on the aspects mentioned above and will provide the necessary answer to this debate between life and death. As stated by Nowell Smith, but if we grant, as no doubt we all do, that everyone has a right to life, if follows as once that we have a right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Global Warming In Hawaii I wake up to thunder and rumbling, its dark and my body feels as if its falling though the sky. There are screams of terror that could only belong to the 200 people surrounding me. Confusion only lasted a few seconds before I remember I m on an airplane to Hawaii; and right now it is most likely flying over the Pacific Ocean. The oxygen masks drop and I struggle to strap it to my head. The turbulence is incredibly disorienting and so many questions are running through my head right now; why did this happen to me , and will I survive this? . Five minutes ago I was on my way to paradise and now I m headed straight for the water. This almost seems similar the TV series Lost, but they all crash landed on an island and survived, what are the chances.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason I was heading to Hawaii was for a job with one of the leading facilities in marine biology, the national institute of oceanographic research. I was planning on studying the effects of global warming temperature changes on the coral reefs close to the shore of Honolulu. One of the things I am most passionate about is the environment, and any chance I get to understand what is constantly damaging it, I take that prospect. On the off point of work, I had planned to take a helicopter around the island, one thing I find absolutely amazing is how vast the world is. This job has only been my goal since I wanted to start in marine biology and now I have the chance to, but the moment of clarity ends and the screams return. I look to my left and there is a couple embracing each other, hoping and praying for survival. They were my inspiration now, and I too prayed for the mercy of God. Within split second, all the lights go out and its pitch black, you can hear suit cases and bags crashing from the overhead compartments. I had no sense of direction at this time, the only thing I knew was where the front and back of the plane are. I look back and I realized I don t know where the back of the plane is, it wasn t there anymore and neither was my hope. I take it gravity is close to taking its next victims, ... David wanted to build God a permanent house of worships, where there could be centralized worship for the people of Israel. Through this covenant with God, God would build Davida family dynasty (House) and David s son, King Solomon would build the house of worship for God. According to the ABD, Nothing has survived to the present day of the temple built by King Solomon. Temple holds a place of great prominence in the architectural history of the Western world. The most heralded of all was the building of King Herod. King Herod s plans or desires were more self serving than Godly. His plans were more geared towards those groups he could glean something from, his supporters, people he respected or people who might respect him, and the flat out admiration he pined for. King Herod stayed true to the original dimension of the biblical temple. However, from there all shackles of conformity were unlocked. Herod would expand and raise the temple platform, thus creating an unparalleled and truly monumental temple precinct containing the sanctuary, courts, gates, a fortress (Antonia), approaches, porticoes, and subsidiary buildings. In keeping up King Herod s ego, the only thing that Herod really out did King Solomon in the way of building craft. Was the Herod out blinged King Solomon in the gold over laying inside of the temple? Not even the calamities of destructions to the religious temples could thwart the desire for a permanent place to worship for the followers of Judaism and even that of Christianity. Past tradition and customs is a cornerstone of belief and a way of life for these followers of God. The quest for rebuilding the past will always be of paramount concern for the believers in Yahweh. • 10. Globalization And Corporate Expansion Of American Companies The globalization and corporate expansion of American companies has promoted inequality in the United States and the world, largely through means defined to be inhumane. Corporate America has embraced a hands free method of globalization. By both outsourcing labor and targeting more consumer groups, especially those yearning for the American Dream, corporate America has successfully increased profits. Almost everyone on earth is feeling the negative effects of corporate America s actions. By outsourcing labor, prohibiting unions, disadvantaging women, and driving wages down, globalizationand corporate expansion advocates for inequality in both the United Statesand the rest of the world. By moving labor to places outside of the United States, American companies are able to secure cheap labor. This cheap labor negatively affects the lives of Americans and foreigners. Some places even paying daily wages below the cost of a loaf of bread. Not only are the companies driving up their profits, they are globalizing their brand at almost no cost to them and a massive cost to everyone else. Anywhere litter flows with the brand of an American company, is free advertising to them. The crushed Coca Cola can or the half rotted McDonald s bag, all are examples of a free ad. Udayakumar, The style of globalism pushed by the United States has favored the free movement and protection of capital, while being at best indifferent and at worst hostile to ... In present day 2015 it is still unclear if there was a specific motif that drove to the creation of the bomb. Nevertheless it can be speculated that the attacks on Pearl Harbor are largely attributed its creation. In essence, the Bomb (later named fat boy) had the capabilities to destroy an entire city and was only going to be used when completely necessary. A brief storyline of The Amazing Spider Man 2 is that, the main protagonist Peter Parker discovers that his most critical battle is ready to begin. It is wonderful to be Spider Man, but for Peter Parker especially, there is no feeling like swinging between towers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen Stacey who is a girlfriend and a helper of Peter. At a moment of his web caught her body, her body dropped down on the ground and died. Finally, the Spider man defeated the enemies and then coming down to the ground to check whether she was alive or not. At this moment, I thought that the director and editor intentionally deleted all background music to make audiences only hear his narrative telling to her. I only could hear him sobbing loudly and he was upset and expressing his deep grief due to the tragic circumstance. Personally, I did not cry with her death, but I realized something about hero s tragedy that the hero could not keep his love forever. Through her death, she might be a symbol to the Spider man that just because he saved people, it did not mean that he is a savior of all people, including Gwen. In that perspective, Peter Parker is the protagonist and eventually Gwen s death was about how it affected our hero, but inside of that, they were able to produce the characters with real activity. Peter returned to home depressed and empty. He threw away his Spider man uniform and mask for a long time. He talked with his aunt about how to move on from death and he visited Gwen s grave almost obsessively when every season passes. Connections are formed like bridges built of various things; love, trust, money, fate. Some bridges are stronger than others and some bridges connect people who perhaps shouldn t be connected. The movie The Great Gatsby better expresses the romantic relationships and connections between characters. Between Tom and Daisy, whose relationship may have more to do with survival than love, with Myrtle and Tom, the bridge between them connecting two souls searching for something more in life. And then there are bridges like the one between Jordan and Nick, filled with lies and a bridge not often travelled, and if you re lucky you come across a bridge like Gatsby and Daisy s, which is made of love but filled with obstacles. These bridges play a key part in the story and the movie most definitely does a better job at expressing these connections between characters. Tom and Daisy have a very complicated relationship and the movie better demonstrates their complex relationship than the book. The film shows all the small gestures they share, and the novel gives the impression Daisy somewhat resented Tom after Gatsby s death, and the movie also humanizes Tom on a higher level than the book. In the film when Daisy told Tom she had never loved him while they were in town she immediately after addresses Gatsby with a cold reply detaching herself from the situation and seems angry at Gatsby making her tell Tom she didn t love him (The Great ... According to Stevens and Slavin (1995) cognitive apprenticeship is elaborated in that, students of different levels of achievement work together to learn. Students with higher level academic abilities are able to use their own understanding to explain to the other students, whereas, the lower students are able to use the explanation from their fellow classmates to understand the material. Cooperative learningis not always viewed looked as the best teaching method. Other researchers have shown a disadvantage in group work with regard to teaching students. Slow learning students may lag behind due to their passive nature or lack of confidence (King, 1993). When the quick learning students dominate the group and discussions, the lower achieving students may not feel open and free to contributing in the discussion. In this case, the learning opportunity could pass them by without anyone noticing the lack of understanding. Other limitations of cooperative learning is the time required for some groups to work in unity and unable to teach the curriculum in a small group Cooperative Learning setting (Good, Reys, Grouws, Mulryan, (1989;1990). 2.2 Related Research When referring back to the topic of cooperative learning technique, a lot of efforts and steps were taken throughout the previous years, and there are still a lot of works that can be done on it too. ... This is stated at the end of the article. I believe the author succeeds in identifying the objective since the entire article is on the dangers of low self esteem and feeling like you need to be thin to be pretty. That being understood, taking one particular side on any argument from a close reading of the story seems impossible, because the counter argument appears just as conceivable. Robbins brings up an interesting idea in his criticism that Henry James is trying to explain the standpoint of society throughout the novel, which is that society felt that servants were not meant to be part of real society but were meant to just blend into the background and do their job without really being noticed or acknowledged. He basically uses the ghosts as symbols, even reminders of the fact that the governess is just like them, in the way that she is below most of society since she is an upper class servant, and is therefore invisible and something less than [a] human being (336). • 20. Causes Of The Industrial Revolution By 1750, there was not much doubt that if any country was going to triumph in being the first industrial power it would be England (Hobsbawm 29). However, several factors were responsible for England s emergence as an industrial power. Some of the contributing factors for the Industrial Revolution were: the increasing importance of imperial goods such as cotton, cultural traditions that stemmed from the Renaissance and the Reformation, population change, and a government willing to subordinate all foreign policy to its economic ends. Socially, the Industrial Revolutionin England changed exponentially with the growing drift between the class hierarchy. Instead of reverting to social revolution as occurred in France, England experienced political reform during the Industrial Revolution that would become a symbol of hope for thriving countries. There has been much speculation on the exact reason the Industrial Revolution began in England in the late 18th Century, but certain components are undisputed for the Revolution s occurrence there. Initially, Britain already had a large, developed supply of coal and iron which gave the British a start in mass metallurgy (Perry 286). There also was a surplus of capital available for investments to be made in new industries; however, these funds came from wealthy landowners and merchants who had grown rich in commerce through the slave trade (Perry 287). As the stimulus intensity increases more motor units are recruited. To emphasize, when you have a stronger stimulus the more motor unit recruitment will get excited and thus more will contract. Physiologically, a skeletal musclemembrane is getting depolarized by a stimulus. The depolarization stimulus will allow for Na+ to flow into the cell which allows the action potential to flow down into the T tubule. The DHP receptor will open, which is connected to the RyR Ca2+ release channel to open. This allows for calcium to flow into the cytoplasm from sarcoplasmic reticulum. The calcium ion binds to troponin which allows tropomyosin to move off the actin myosinbinding sites. The myosin will bind to the actin binding site and cross bridge cycling will take place causing a muscle contraction. Therefore, the more depolarized the cells are (from a higher stimulus intensity), the more calcium will be in the cell to bind to troponin, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through the bird symbolism, Chopin suggests that women lack the ability to be happy within the circumstances society expects them to maintain. Both women also find freedom through immersion in water. In The Bell Jar, Esther Greenwood finds freedom in her baths. She takes baths to clean and purify herself from the grime of the world around her, even saying I never feel so much myself as when I m in a hot bath (Plath 20). Edna ... I am constantly picked on for the sole face that I am not a male like all my other brothers on the department. The rewarding feeling of being able to save a life makes all the teasing and joking completely worth it for me. I had no idea how anything on the firedepartment worked, before becoming involved. This is something I have working hard on changing over the past few months, with the end goal of becoming literate in the ways of the firefighter. When I decided to join, it was one of the scariest decisions of my life. I had no idea what I was walking in to. • 43. What Makes Fermat s Last Theorem Fermat s Last Theorem The year is 1637. Pierre de Fermat sits in his library, huddled over a copy of Arithmetica written by the Greek mathematician Diaphantus in the third century A. D. Turning the page, Fermat comes across the Pythagorean equation: x 2 + y 2 = z 2. He leans back in his chair to think and wonders if this property is limited to the power of two only. He bends over the book again, scanning ahead through the pages to look for any clues. Suddenly, he begins writing intensely in the margin: It is impossible for a cube to be written as a sum of two cubes, or for a fourth power to be written as the sum of two fourth powers or, in general, for any number which is a power greater than the second to be written as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His peers, both contemporary and future, recognized his amazing talent: leading mathematical historian of the twentieth century, E. T. Bell, labeled him Prince of Amateurs . Author Julian Coolidge excluded him from his work Mathematics of Great Amateurs because Fermat was so really great that he should count as a professional. He had a habit of jotting down his work and thoughts as notes in margins or on napkins and omitting any formal proof. Fermat claimed to have derivations for all of his notes these cryptic comments were theorems for him but only conjectures for the rest of the mathematical community. Fermat s Last Theorem, therefore, is a misnomer: it should more appropriately be referred to as Fermat s Last Conjecture! In 1670, five years after Fermat s death, his observations including a vaguely outlined proof for n=4 showing no whole number solutions for the equation x 4 + y 4 = z4 were published by one of his sons, Clement Samuel Fermat. He included them as annotations and notes to Diaphantus Arithmetica; they are the only link to Fermat s Last Theorem as his original copy has never been discovered. Globalization And Religion Globalization is defined by Uwah (2017 p.81) as the process through which social, political, pecuniary and cultural interactions are intensified to international scale. Therefore, the driving force behind globalization is to enable transcendental unification of socio economic and political ideologies across borders. Further, Kasongo (2010 p.309) looks at a globalization as the dispersion of practices, ties, consciousness and recollection of people s social lives on worldwide scale. Religionis one of the oldest institutions in the history of humanity. On the other hand, globalization is considered as a revolutionary process which intensified after the Soviet Union collapsed. Globalization of religion traces its start from the times of Alexander the Great and when Buddhism was first conceived by Chandragupta Maurya. In this period, the increasing powers of religion cased significant effects on imperial armies and trade economies. According to Nggong (2014), globalization caused the unification of religions and cultural ways of life; leading to the emergence of civilizations, and evolution of trade routes. These activities marked great historical periods like colonization of the Americas, Africa, and Asia. • 45. Women Of The Victorian Era Intro Throughout history, women are casted with the role of being docile, obedient, and fragile by the traditional values of the patriarchy society. In the nineteenth century during the Victorian era, men expect women to maintain the domestic sphere as a cheerful pure haven for them when they return home from work. The cult of true womanhood which was believed by both the Northern and Southern states at the time was based on four main ideas: the sphere of home and the competitive world outside which contrast the female and male nature; the belief that the home is the female s only suitable sphere; women s moral superiority; and the idealization for women to behave as wife and mother. It was expected that the world outside of home belongs to men because of its brutal environment and competitive atmosphere, and women belongs to the moral sanctuary of society called home. There are other influences that furthermore constrict women by spreading ideas of how women should behave. Books and articles written by female and male authors often ask women to be religious, domestic, and womanly to glorify their feminine role and seek fulfillment within their own sphere. However, many women refused to be constrained by male dominance, propriety, and the ideology of feminine virtue that paralyzed many Victorian women. Some expressed their grievances against male authority, stereotypes about women, and their lack of power in political dilemmas by writing. Female authors such as Charlotte ... Those limitations include: Economics: The price and energy cost of GPS components is usually much higher than its alternatives. Though some GPS systems are inexpensive, cheap solutions may have significantly reduced quality. And it is usually very energy consuming. For instance, GPS on smart phones consumes much large portion of energy than other integrated sensing and communicating components. Even with the high cost, GPS on consumer devices cannot provide desired performance. Accuracy: The accuracy of GPS is usually not enough when small scale of space and fine grained location discrimination are considered, especially on nonprofessional devices with poor quality. And due to its inherent large scale, GPS is difficult to maintain and update, while in many scenarios, the space of interest for localizing is highly dynamic. Speed and reliability: Mobile phone GPS users usually experience slow updating of their locations. And since GPS requires LOS paths to satellites and stable signal coverage, GPS is not practical or available in many cases. Thus, techniques assisting GPS with LPS components have received many attentions from both industry and academia in recent years. Furthermore, the study from KPMG (2003) and ACFE (2008) all agreed FFR is the least common but most costly fraud (Carcello and Hermanson, 2008). The estimated annual cost of FFR in USA is $1 trillion (ACFE, 2008), and this is just under the relaxed disclosure regulation, which is the Securities Offering Reform, issued in 2005 in America (Clinton et al., 2014). And FFR is certainly not limited to the United States (Zack, 2009). Hence, FCA considered FFR facts in US as a lesson and involved in a special project in 2010 in UK to examine fraud in public companies (Fisher et al., 2010). • 54. The Importance Of Christianity In The Christian Worldview One s worldview is the structure from which we view reality and make sense of life. We have all contemplated some common questions. What is our purpose? How was the earth created? Is there eternity? Why is there evil and suffering? The Christian worldview is consistent when responding to these questions because of their beliefs and faith in God. God In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1). God created all living beings and He created man to live in His image. His creation was made in six days and on the seventh day He rested. Before the world began, the Word was there, The Word was with God, and the Word was with God. He was there with God in the beginning. Everything was made through him, and nothing was made without him (John1:1 3). God is best described as the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ who is fully God and fully man), and God the Holy Spirit. Three persons, same substance, one God: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. As stated in Lecture 2, all three persons were involved in the creation (Lecture 2). According to Christians, God is the sovereign creator of the heavens and of the earth and is their ultimate reality. God s characteristics are being loving, kind, compassionate, and forgiving. Other attributes are that he is eternal, infinite, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, immutable and incomprehensible (Lecture 2). On the sixth day of creation, God created man.
