The PPT is on the poem THE SHED written by Frank Flynn. The short and interesting poem is about a shed that appears haunted to the poet. The poet feels scared to enter the shed. There are a lot of cobwebs and the dusty windows give the poet a spooky feeling. The poet's brother scares him by telling him that a ghost lives under the rotten floor boards of the shed. The poet decided to enter the shed some day.

4. THE SHED-
Stanza 1
There’s a shed at the bottom of
our garden
With a spider’s web hanging
across the door,
The hinges are rusty and creak
in the wind.
When I’m in bed I lie and I
listen,
I’ll open that door one day.
A door with rusty hinges and a
spider’s web across it
A shed at the bottom of the
garden
5. THE SHED-
Stanza 2
Dusty- covered with dust
Cracked- broken
Panes- sheets of glass
Staring- looking for a long
time
Peep- to look into something
secretively
There’s a dusty old window
around at the side
With three cracked panes
of glass,
I often think there’s
someone staring at me
Each time that I pass,
I’ll peep through that
window one day.
7. THE SHED-
Stanza 3
My brother says there’s a
ghost in the shed
Who hides under the rotten
floorboards,
And if I ever dare to set foot
inside
He’ll jump out and chop off
my head,
But I’ll take a peek one day.
Rotten floor
boards
Peek- hide and
look
8. THE SHED-
Stanza 4
I know that there isn’t really a
ghost,
My brother tells lies to keep the
shed for his den;
There isn’t anyone staring or
making strange noises
And the spider has been gone
from his web
since I don’t know when,
I’ll go into that shed one day
soon,
But not just yet...

The poem is about the shed which is a small room away from the
main house. It is located at the bottom of the poet’s garden.
It is in a very bad condition. Whenever the poet passes by it, he
feels that somebody is staring at him. His brother prevents him
from going into the shed by saying that a ghost hides under the
rotten floor boards of the shed and would jump and attack the
poet.
The poet realises that there is no ghost inside the shed. His
brother tells him a lie to keep the shed for his den.
The poet is still afraid of entering the run down shed. He consoles
himself by saying that he would enter the shed some day.
