The Caterpillars and Me
I‟m an orphan. Well, I used to be one. I could tell you millions of stories
from when I was a little girl however there is one I love to tell; The
caterpillars and me. You may have had adventure in your life but I bet
none of them will compare to mine…
It all started about thirty years ago. My parents (Jenny Smith and Richard)
had thrown me out after I attempted to run away! As you may have
guessed that‟s how I became an orphan. I hated it at the care home; half
eaten stairs, dirty floor and rotting walls. Sounds nice, right? One night I
ran away, not knowing where to go or who I‟d meet.
I sat down to find two little olive green caterpillars. As weird as it
sounds, they kept me in great company. I mean you can‟t expect to find
much in an over ground, grass filed wood! Their names were Oscar and
Alphonse. I would speak to them all day and then place them carefully on
a leaf when night fell. In the day I would head down to the local market
and steal warm doughy soft bread, sweat fruit and buckets full of cooling
fresh water. I wouldn‟t say I was living the dream but I guess who does?
They were my family!
Then, one boiling, summer‟s day I got told by Oscar that I was ready. At
the time I didn‟t now what they meant but once they had explained it to
me I understood. As well as them I new I had to get out there and have an
adventure of my own. I could swim to Rome or run to Australia; maybe
I‟m exaggerating a bit but who knows. I said goodbye to Oscar and
Alphonse and set of on my very own adventure. I didn‟t exactly go
anywhere amazing or exciting I just walked around town, went in a few
shops; nothing special really.
I went home after about a week in the square. I have to say I remember
really looking forward to seeing my caterpillars again. I found my spot. I
looked everywhere. Where were they? They couldn‟t off go far; after all
they are not the fastest creatures in the world. Suddenly, I saw I little,
brown thing on the floor. I steadily crouched down and picked it up to
then hold it in my palm. I glared at it carefully. Could it really be! It was a
cocoon. It was if they had had there adventure as well as me…
Later that day, two beautiful butterfly‟s flue past, swirling in the air as
they went. Instantly, I knew we had a bond never to be broken.
That is my most favourite story of all because, it shows that you have to
be strong and enjoy what you have. When ever I see a butterfly flutter
past it reminds me of myself as a little girl. I will be surprised if your
adventure beets mine. But remember the purpose of this story isn‟t the
adventure it the way it changed who I am today…

Just Dessert
She has had a traumatising child-hood. Your probably wondering who I
am talking about, I am talking about a woman could Unna, Unna was a
lovely woman but she moved house years and years ago so she hasn‟t
seen anyone in ages. Can you imagine what a horrible life she has had
living on her own.
It was her friends birthday coming up soon and Unna and Ivey always use
to make pumpkin pie. But because Unna didn‟t know were anyone was or
how to catch up, she made it by herself. She had been planting this
pumpkin for donkey‟s years (50 years).
Unna went to cut the pumpkin whilst thinking of Ivy, but the pumpkin
started to light up in a shiny, bright sort of way. Unna didn‟t cut it all she
did was stair at it like it was a angel from high above. She thought it was
a dream so she rubbed her eyes and there it was still lighting up. She
went to bathe her eyes, she then looked up again and saw that it was still
glowing…
Unna then heard a voice saying “it is Ivy, Unna please don‟t cut me and
eat me” whimpered the pumpkin. Unna got scared. Then the pumpkin
said “Unna your husband is out turning people into pumpkins, he stole
the pumpkin from your back garden and put me in the hole”. She didn‟t
believe the pumpkin. She cut it to check if it is true and then Ivy slowly
jumped out.
Ivy and Unna where so shocked to see each other that they calibrated by
eating some delouses pumpkin pie .Ivy had a lot of gossip to tell unna so
they never stopped talking.then they decidedto live together in a horrible
house in the woods.
That is just part of Unna‟s life, it is very complicated please don‟t try
playing this story at home it is very dangerous.

Strange Moving
I hate it. Moving house is not good; I‟m lonely now: no friends, awful school and terrible
neighbours. Even though my Dad paid so much money for this house in this posh area,
sounds nice right? But it is worth nothing to me, nothing. My big sister is loving it new
friends and everything but I don‟t understand how she does, hopefully I‟ll be like that soon..,
It has been at least a week we have been house now, but it feels like a year (maybe even more
than that) – I have been stuck in my bedroom all morning, so fed up. My dad told me to get
dressed and get in the Christmas sprit and help with the decorations (I would rather die!). As
I made my way down stairs I felt like everyone had stopped putting decorations up and
started glaring at me. But what for? I only wanted some peace in my bedroom.
“Come on Adam, get down stairs to the basement and get the lights in and hurry up,” asked
Mum politely.
while I was going down stairs a cold chill came through me and I started shivering,
everywhere I looked they was lots and lots of cob webs and I wanted to get out and quick.
When I reached the bottom of the stairs the pipes were dripping in a repitive pattern drip,
drop, drip, drop and I wanted to get out even more now it was getting creepy. Then strangely
I seen an tiny, brown, old door it must have been as small as a ant, (I wasn‟t really sure what
it was). Still staring at the door, the door knob started turning my heart was pounding and I
was about to cry, I was a man I couldn‟t cry, could I …
Moving backwards away from the door getting more frightened, the door started opening as
you looked closer I could see a green foot coming out
The creature that emerged was not a creature you would normally see on earth, it had big
eyes bulging out of its tiny face: they were really cut and watery (like puppy eyes). Its belly
had a patch of snake‟s scales on it, it had the prettiest of all nails with its aqua nails it
brightens your day. I‟m sure it was an ALIEN!
I could hear a voice a really quite one getting bigger and bigger and then I heard what it said
it stared at me,
And whispered “My parents, they here in earth, help, need to find them, help,”
I don‟t really think I was scared of it any more (it was quiet cute) and I asked if I could help
it, It must have been at least 30 cm high, really quit small and I asked it again if it wanted
help but no reply.
“Help me find my mother and father they are here in earth when I find them I can go back to
my world but without them I couldn‟t go back, that is what my ruler said” whispered the
alien even quieter now.
I can help the alien, I would need help if it was me.
Picking the alien up, I sneaked up into my room I asked him wear we needed to find his
parents he said at the science lab, they are doing experiments on them and that we needed
to hurry, I ran into the garage and got the bikes out- one small and one big and we cycled
there really fast, when we got there we seen his parents trapped we got the key from the side
and let them out, you could tell the alien was happy to see his parents. I will be quiet sad
when they go home because of our bond but I will remember him. Then out of no where his
parents spoke,
“Stay with this boy son it is a war zone back at home, you will not live happy and you can
always visit , lets say every Tuesday don‟t forget and remember I love you” sadly whispered
the parents. As quick as a runner he replied “For the rest of my life.”
My life is what I dreamed of. I am not bored any more, I will never be: great friend, amazing
house, and brilliant neighbourhood. Even though I didn‟t like this house when I first moved
here – I hated the place, but boo me its miles better than my old home. Now I love my life
and all, me and alien have a big step tomorrow: new school…

THE MANSION OF MAPLE STREET!
Maple Street: no one has lived there, no one has dared to. One couple has been
in, never come out. Still no one has yet known why. A middle-age couple it was,
very jolly indeed. Mark: fearless, manly and polite. Emma was a person full of
exuberance. No matter, what horrific moments arrive, none would defeat her.
The couple was determined in every possible way.
It all started as they settled in. A nice relaxed day it was meant to be but yet
relaxation would convert into fear. It was a day that they would never forget!
Straight away was the stage to edit the structure. The legend was passed
through the ages that this stage was also as the „Haunted stage‟. The couple
wanted to transform this old house into a modern mansion. The house too had
some ideas. Monday morning, Mark set off to work whereas Emma was relaxing
at home.
During a nice kip, Emma‟s eyes abruptly opened. A sent of burning wandered
through the mansion. As she stood up, a rush of heat met her face. Shaking, she
picked up the phone and immediately messaged Mark to arrive as soon as
possible. Instantly, the noise of a key was at the door. The footsteps arrived
upstairs and what greeted him was unbelievable.
Heat rushed to his face, “A bit waaarr……..” As he turned the corner of the stairs
fire met his eye! “AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!” A scream so loud that only
a dog‟s super-sonic ears could hear it. Sweat poured from his head making pool
of sweat. The local fire brigade arrived. Full in kit, it was like Man of Steel. It
was sure that the day was saved. Yet still there was more to come.
Five minutes had passed but no change was made. Finally, it calmed. The raging
fire still had some plans of its own.
“I just wish we could have some time off on a magnificent beach on Barbados.”
Bizarrely they didn‟t know what was in store for them. The house really was
starting to come alive. Like Lord Sugar, the house was clearly taking in
everybody‟s ideas. It was even a bit better! As hours passed, the firemen had
left and the day was coming to an end. As the sun was beginning to set, a
rumble shook the room. In fact it shook the house. Canvases were falling,
glasses were smashing! The demolition carried on until a jump lifted the
shattered glass and canvas off the floor. Little did they know this mansion was
lifting off. Screams were belting out from the couples mouths. Only a few
minutes later a „BANG‟ sounded. They had landed on the ground, on safety. The
couple dashed out of the house, not knowing where they were. An intense
brightness shot them with fear. “We‟re trapped,” screamed Mark, thinking it was
another fire.
“I don‟t think so,” Emma explained. Mark opened his eyes, they popped out of
his head. Barbados greeted them! It couldn‟t get any better.

Uninvited Guests…
Harry a nine year old boy had lived at 2 Habergham Close for at least 9 years now. He
thought it was the best house that could ever be but there had always been something
missing: a brother or sister to share it with.
Sitting in the living room, Harry heard mysterious noises coming from the basement. He
crawled down the stairs as quiet as a mouse because he didn‟t want to disturb whatever‟s
down there. His heart pumped like a drum as the door knob jiggled…
Out came a tiny but bulky troll the colour of a green apple. “Please help me, I hate being a
troll,” Shouted the tiny thing. Harry stood there speechless. “I have to stay here for at least 7
hours then I can be like you!” Harry didn‟t listen as he was half way up the stairs “WAIT!”
Screamed the troll, Harry stopped and turned around, he realised how much this meant to
the little troll and decided to help him.
“Ok,” Said Harry “I‟ll help you but we can‟t tell my mum or dad so we‟ll have to stay in here.”
The little troll started to bounce about with joy; he knocked over Harry‟s mum‟s ice skating
boots and they landed glade first and scratched all the floor. “What a great 7 hours this will
be…..” thought Harry.
SMASH, SCRATCH, CRASH, troll was knocking EVERYTHING over and because no one but
Harry knew about him, Harry would have to take all the blame. Harry had had enough, even
though it had only been 6 hours, this was the right time to say goodbye. “Ok Troll I think its
time to leave now,”
“But it‟s not been 7 hours,” exclaimed Troll. Harry could tell he was a sensitive troll as every
time he knocked something over he burst into tears, and it‟s happening again!
“I just think well, my mum would notice the broken things and would want an answer and
you wouldn‟t want anyone else finding out about you? Would you?”
“I understand,” Drooping his head Troll had tears falling from his eyes. He started to pick up
pieces of what he broke, he took a long time… possibly 50 minutes but no one noticed,
except him. Leaning against the wall, Harry waited silently when he realised that troll would
waste as much time as he could; he‟d have to trick him into leaving!
Harry thought and thought then suddenly it came to him: leave a note on the door from his
parents! Harry was sure it would work, but he needed to write something really persuasive.
“Dear Troll, where are you? We miss you, everyone does! Please come home. Your Family X.
That should do it,” Thought Harry. Harry stuck it on the tiny little door and waited for Troll
to see it.
“I‟m finished,” said Troll sadly
“Ok, I think this note‟s for you…”
“Oh,” Troll Paused “I REALLY DON‟T WANT TO GO HOMEEE!” He wailed. Harry started to feel
guilty.
“Ok, Ok, I‟m such a bad liar….I wrote that note, I really needed you to go home,”
“Well I guess I‟m going now…” As Troll stepped towards the tiny wooden door he started to
grow bigger and change to peach, then Harry realised Troll became a human.
All in two days, they made Troll a new name: Lucas, they also applied him into Harry‟s
school and introduced him to Harry‟s family. Good news, Harry family adopted him! So looks
like Harry‟s dream did come true: he now has a brother!

The Mysterious Harp
This is going to be the best summer yet, I thought to myself. I live in a
demolished street with only two families on it! My cottage was at the end
of mysterious woods. People went missing in the woods; about two
months ago that what people said. Everyday I would walk my dog and try
to find the missing people. Some people said it was a myth some people
it was planned. But on this particular day!
It was eleven „O‟ clock. I was walking my dog. I could hear strange noise
from over the river. There it was „THE HARP‟. The mellow river wasn‟t
tranquil anymore; the sea blue water was hitting the rock like a pair of
drums. I didn‟t no what to do, my heart was thumping. Sweat was
dripping of my face. I couldn‟t run my feet were stiff. “Jim tea”, bellowed
Mum in a howling voice.
“Help”, cried Jim.
“What wrong”, whispered Mum in coldly voice.
“The Harp, over there “, replied Jim in a stuttering voice.
“Where”? ”It‟s not there now”, mumbled Mum! “Let‟s get a mug of hot
chocolate.”
Next day the wind was high, trees was scattered around the woods grimy
floor, the river clashed against the rocks. My throat was dry I couldn‟t
shout for help. Across the river was the Harp penetrating my ear. I
couldn‟t hear anymore, my heart was pounding. My dog was going closer
and closer by the minute. I was too late he did, his head hovered above
the hammering the water. I didn‟t know what to do, half of my body was
saying to jump and the other half was saying not to. I did it… Lucky I got
the Harp while holding my dog.
At that point I knew I was near the waterfall. I didn‟t get out in time.
While going down the colossal waterfall, I was trying to snap one of the
strings. My fingers were not strong enough. My dog came to my rescues
and his rescue; he hastily ripped the strings in quarter.
I was back in the real world not the fantasy. I knew this would me the
best summer yet. I knew I was alive my heart was beating; my ear could
hear anything from three mile away. I felt like a hero and I think my dog
thinks he is a hero.
Was it a dream or not….

The Seventh Chair
On an unusual, peculiar afternoon, Ivy was busy at home. She was admiring her
new hand carved chair. What Ivy didn‟t know though, is that this was no
ordinary chair. This was the Seventh Chair…
Every Sunday afternoon Ivy would stroll happily down to the ancient monastery.
Because Ivy was so friendly and kind to everyone she knew, she was friends
with everyone there. Today it was different for her but she didn‟t know it.
The trees were towering over Ivy and howled in the wind as she walked down to
the monastery as per usual. As Ivy walked in she found the monastery was
empty. Suddenly her smile turned into a disappointed frown. Had the service
been cancelled and nobody had bothered to tell her? Was it at a different place
today? She was definitely in the right place. “Hello?” spoke Ivy, her voice
turning into an echo down the monastery. “Is anybody there?” The only reply
she received was the sound of her own voice. Without trying to waste another
minute of her day, Ivy turned around on her heels and walked away slowly as if
she was hoping somebody would suddenly be at the monastery; shouting her
name.
As soon as Ivy got home, she dumped her bag on the floor and walked straight
into the kitchen. Bradley (the Bulldog) was lying on the floor with one paw over
the other. Ivy turned her head to meet Bradley‟s. She sat on her brand new chair
for the first time still wondering why nobody was at the monastery. With
Bradley lying across her lap, she stroked him softly as if he was fragile. “What‟s
the matter Bradley? Are you sad too?” Ivy would always talk to her dog as it was
her only company.
All of a sudden, Ivy was off the ground and into the air. Her heart was pounding
and her mouth dropped while her hands gripped onto the chair for dear life.
Within a second, she was out the front door with Bradley by her side. Ivy‟s
mouth finally closed and her shocked face turned into a smile. In front of her
was the monastery. Hovering above the ground, Ivy headed into the monastery
with her eyes grown bigger and wider by the minute.
Then Ivy looked down. Her hand looked different. She looked at her other hand.
That was different too. Wondering what was going on, Ivy felt her head. She
couldn‟t feel her hair but instead felt a hat. What is happening to me? Ivy
thought to herself in a panic. She saw that she was no longer hovering in the air,
but once again remained on the ground. Then she realized. She was a Nun. As
she looked up she found that there were already six chairs in front of her. Will
that happen to me? Ivy wondered to herself. That‟s when she finally figured it
out. She was the Seventh Nun on the Seventh Chair.

JODIE AND THE CATERPILLAS
All was calm and still with the beautiful dazzling sun shining down onto the
grass. White clouds drifted across the sky everything seemed so peaceful and
ordinary. Yet one thing wasn‟t ordinary: there was a girl in the middle of the
field all on her own, all on her own…
This girl was an orphan who had set off on a journey to find a family. She was
miserable and wanted a home. For the last three years she had been all on her
own traipsing through fields and forests and trying to find food. All she wanted
was something good in her life and then she would be so grateful.
While Jodie was trudging through the field she stopped to have a rest under a
giant oak tree. As she lay down she saw two green things wriggling around on
her leg. Wondering what it was, she carefully sat up. The two things were baby
caterpillars the size of a jelly bean; both lime green colours with pretty black
stripes. From then on Jodie loved her caterpillars and was very grateful that she
had something. “Oscar, Alphonse,” she would call in her soft voice, “You have
made me so happy, thank you so much!”
One night she couldn‟t get to sleep because she kept wondering, “What are my
family really like?” She made up a song and sang it to herself over and over
again until she finally put herself to sleep. Jodie woke up four hours later at
4am when the sun was just rising, Jodie was exhausted but she had lots to do.
She looked around but couldn‟t find her caterpillars anywhere, confused she
rubbed her eyes about five times but still couldn‟t find them anywhere. Crying
and crying Jodie spent the next hour looking for them but she had to give up to
go on her way. Jodie knew she shouldn‟t just leave them; guilt plus sadness was
shooting down her but there was nothing she could do. She said goodbye to the
field and everything else and set off on her way again!
The next morning she woke up with a huge smile on her face: there right in
front of her was a large town. She sprinted all the way towards it and arrived in
just a few minutes after she had set off!Walking around a family came up to her
and asked why she was all alone and in ragged clothes. They sat down and Jodie
explained everything: by the end the Mother was crying and they took her to
live with them. “Thank you so much I couldn‟t be happier!” Jodie cried. She had
the biggest smile on her face ever, she just couldn‟t believe it: she had now got
a home a Mother, a Father and a Sister! Better things were happening every
minute!Just as she was going into her house two beautiful green and black
butterflies flew towards her, “Oh Oscar, oh Alphonse,” She shouted crying with
happiness, “You‟re back and look at you two now!”
The butterflies and she had a very joyful life from then on and the butterflies
came to visit Jodie every now and again. Jodie left her butterflies to go off and
live their live while she lived hers; she would never be the girl in the middle of a
field all alone again!

GEORHIA
One dark late afternoon Emilia and Daniel, who were both the same age 16, was
out at the local lake skipping some pebbles as the sun came down. They had
three oval, soft pebbles each but they soon used most of them up in a couple of
throws. There was one left. Daniel was about to throw it but then he hesitated
and let Emilia throw it instead. She threw it with all her might. It was perfect, it
skipped perfect. Daniel spoke in a soft voice, “Let‟s go.” Abruptly, the pebble
came striking back out of the water. “What was that?” Emily asked.
They decided to investigate. Daniel saw a shadow move in the water. It was like
a human‟s body but with a much longer ear and bulged eyes. It was moving
closer and closer every minute until it was at their feet. It spoke. “Hello.”
“What are you?” replied Emilia with a slight wobble in her voice.
“I am Georhia and I am from the planet Mars!”
Emilia and Daniel stood in shock trying to believe what lay in front of them.
After a while of getting to know Georhia, she said something that could put
Daniel and Emilia in great danger. “I‟ve got a task for you; it is hard but I think
you can achieve it. I want you to get a precious emerald pearl to save me, it will
transport me back to mars you have a week!” “Remember it‟s somewhere
famous that only you know.”
Daniel and Emilia went to start their amazing and adventurous journey . It was
hard for them because they did not know where they were going; only that it
was in an important place. They searched every where from the Eiffel Tower to
the Statue of Liberty because when they where both little they went all over the
world with Emilia‟s father. They couldn‟t find it anywhere.
They had two days left. Then Emilia realised that Georhia meant somewhere
close to them and that is what she meant about „only you know!‟ Daniel had an
idea. The fountain, the fountain that Emilia and him played in when they were
younger. “The Emerald Eye!” Emilia shouted with excitement “The emerald eye
on the statue of the fountain, it was a pearl,” she started to add to her point.
“It‟s at the house, come on,” she said with delight. As they took out the emerald
pearl eye from the statue, they saw an illumines light coming from the sky
going towards the lake. She had gone.
Three years later, they both did not know why she had left without saying thank
you or goodbye; from this day they still live in wonder and possibly in regret.
Daniel and Emilia will always remember that late afternoon skipping stones
together with Georhia. Even if they never saw her again, their memory of
Georhia will live on for the rest of long and sweet lives.

No Longer Alive
It was a gloomy, winters night and the windows were frosted and all Carl
could hear was the whooshing of the washing machine spinning round
and round like a tornado.
Picking up his wooden, crooked, old, brown chair, Carl noticed that there
was a miniscule creature underneath his fluffy, red rug. Carl wasn‟t to
sure what it was and was stuck between moving a step closer or a step
back.
The creature scurried around like a mouse trying to dodge the mouse
traps. It knocked everything over the side table, the lamp and was sure
going to knock a lot more things down if Carl didn‟t destroy the thing.
Moving round to every angle that Carl could think of, he finally found
himself trapping the creature. Now he could stab and hit it until it died
and until the whole thing was destroyed! Carl threw the wooden chair at
the unusual thing and then threw the lamp at it. At last, the creature was
now no longer alive it had been demolished.
After the creature was demolished, Carl was overjoyed that it was dead!
But his joy was abruptly disappearing; more and more little things were
rising up from underground. They crawled out of the fluffy, red rug and
started to climb up Carl‟s legs! Now some of the creatures were on top of
Carl‟s head and he could not take anymore. The creatures were pulling
Carl down to the ground and then started to eat the flesh and bones of
his body…
Standing round the grave with their woolly hats, coats and gloves on and
while the grass blades where like icicles, Carl‟s family were crying
waterfalls. They were devastated at Carl‟s loss and wondered at what
killed him.
5 years later…
Carl‟s family never found out at what killed him and every year on the
same date his family and friends would sadly stand round his grave and
pray to him.
Until one day when someone looked under the fluffy, red rug…

The Tune that Never Ends
One summer‟s day there was a boy who lived in a cottage near a beautiful
river. He lived with his mum and dog. His dad had died in war at
Afghanistan and they have never spoken of him since. Until now…
That same after noon he was walking his dog done the beautiful majestic
river and he started to skim stones along the swaying river. When he saw
a sentence in the water it said “don‟t lighten to the harp or doom will
come”. Then it faded; suddenly he saw a harp on a ruff rock at the other
side of the river. It started to play it sounded like angles singing it mad
ripples in the water. Without any warning he started to be lured to the
harp like a magnet he got closer and closer.
Suddenly he found his self on the floor it looked like he was in a battle a
big battle, he saw a man in the distance and then he realised the man
what his dad. He came running towards the boy but his dad ran straight
through him like he was a ghost. His dad fell to the floor like a fallen
tree. Behind him was the harp again it began to play and play he shouted
“stop it stop it” suddenly he fainted.
He woke in a dark room and there was a big mountain that was higher
and higher till he was hanging next to it. He grabbed the harp with all his
might and jumped done while holding on he fell to the floor like a rock.
Suddenly the harp smashed like glass and as it did it sounded like hell
braking loose. Sadly he died with it and it was in the paper that he had go
missing.
It had been 20 years since the boy had died. And there had been a very
peculiars sighting at the river people say they saw a harp people say they
saw a boy playing the harp but all they know for sure is that the river
isn‟t the same any more especially after the boy died. And some people
can still here a tune coming from a harp or something but it wasn‟t sweet
it was like it had been broken for some time in summer.

Defeating the Weeds
I‟ve just been to my local library; I got a really good book. But the
peculiar library keeper stopped me and said “You don‟t want that book”.
As soon as I got home I kicked my shoes off and started to read. My new
book is so interesting. It is about weeds in your garden and how you kill
them and how to stop them growing.
Then it turned 10 o‟clock I got addicted to the book it was just so
phenomenal so I went to bed to forget about it. I‟m thinking in my head
what‟s going to happen tomorrow in the book I just went to bed so I
could read it tomorrow. I just couldn‟t so I read one more paragraph I fell
asleep in the middle of it…
I woke up to find a weed from the book squeezing my hand my eyes were
fading away. I woke up and all the weeds were capturing me everything
was numb on my body my fingers, legs, arm, toes everywhere was numb.
It was aching so bad tears were slowly going down my eyes I was going to
die.
Then I saw Mr Linden the peculiar library keeper was sneaking in looking
for the book. But then he saw me tied up in all these weeds. Then he
pulled out his Swiss army knife from his pocket and saved me then I
safely gave him the book back and said “thank you Mr Linden thank you”.
As soon I said thank you I dropped to the floor. I fainted. When I woke up
Mr Linden was by my side putting a cold flannel on my head. I slouched
up and hugged Mr Linden. I was speech less but so relived. After that day
I went to Mr Linden‟s library everyday to get a book and say hello.

THE MYSTERIOUS MAPLE STREET HOUSE
Maple Street: A demolished street with one family, one road and one mansion.
Hardly anyone set foot on the territory, but the odd one or two valiant ones
entered to knock on the door. Becoming quite timid they wait, but suddenly the
dad comes and shrills so raucously they scamper off like a mouse about to be
gobbled up. Of course, there was an explanation to their anger and boredness.
One day, the street was delightful with beautiful mansions, colourful flowers
and cheerful people. Out of the blue, a bunch of tramps pillaged the street,
meddling with every house and robbing everything. The other less unfortunate
people managed to move however this family were robbed more than any other.
So, they couldn‟t move or evacuate to a family member because they were all
dead.
“Another boring day,” mumbled Dad, after he read the newspaper.
The fire flames mildly warmed up the gloomy room; the light shining in
everyone‟s faces. The expansive room had damp, dark walls with the door‟s
edges ripped to the bare wood. The carpet was paper-thin with a hint of crystal
white in the middle; there was matt grey on the edges.
“It‟s not!” exclaimed the mum, “Guess what, we‟ve got a guest!”
The Dad and Kid stared in astonishment. Their hearts skipped a beat and their
reaction was nothing; they just sat stock-still. Gradually, the Mum revealed her
hand which was behind her back; a bunch of notes.
“You‟re joking,” the Dad whispered, “We‟ve got guests and we‟ve got money.”
Suddenly, they all stood up and began to cheer, throwing the money
everywhere, laughing like hyenas.
“We better hurry up.” The kid exclaimed, “They‟ll be here any minute!”
They commenced by darting outside to buy all sorts of accessories: paints,
wallpapers and tools. They got back in a hurry, decorating every room to
perfection. Only, one room remained: the loft.
“The guest can sleep in the loft.” the Mum said, spitting the words out in a
hurry.
Together, they all flung the brittle door open to start painting the walls and
installing the stunning oak furniture: a desk and some wardrobes. It was dreams
come true for the family, they had rejoiced once again.
After moving the furniture, they immediately found a hole in one of the walls. It
was pitch-black, like a never ending tunnel.
“What is that?” questioned the Dad, “It must be some kind of….”
Abruptly, the hole shone a brilliant, banana-coloured yellow which gleamed into
their eyes. Bewildered and blind, they fell to the floor unconscious while a
rumbling noise started downstairs. Unaware of the situation, the house flew of
like it had a mind of its own…….
The kid sat up, quaking with fear. Dizziness flowed through his brain as he
stumbled to the front door. He threw it open and stared in astonishment. He
was as happy as a bee with honey. The kid bolted outside, looked around the
place, and whispered,
“Just wait till they see this.”

Lost In a Hidden World
They‟d searched everywhere. If he was anywhere, he‟d be here; it was the only place
that they hadn‟t searched yet. He simply had to be here.
On a cheerless, eerie night, Josh had mysteriously vanished. Nobody had seen him in
two days, since he trudged to bed on Halloween night. That was when the brilliant idea
came to them: he was in the hidden world. Ever since they were little, Jasmine, Emily,
Harry, Cameron and Josh had travelled, on the rickety, old cart, towards their magical
world of dreams. Their dear, beloved friend, The Rose Queen, lived there, in her mind
blowing palace. It did seem quite a possibility that he would be there, but the only
question is, how would Josh have got there in the space of just a flimsy half an hour?
They were all rearing and ready to go; they had to start their quest to find the missing
boy. Jumping into the cart, they held hands, crossing their numb fingers. High pitched
screeching came from beneath the cart as they zoomed across the track. It was never
easy getting to The Hidden World, there were always many obstacles in the way. “Oh no,
don‟t tell me they‟re what I think they are,” Cameron breathed in disbelief. They had
just been proved absolutely right. Startled, Jasmine shrieked, her stomach churning.
“What should we do?!” Harry yelled, putting up his weak fists. Squinting at the friends,
were indeed, five, green, furious goblins. Jasmine let out a howl, a waterfall streaming
from her eyes. Cameron reached into his pocket, and, inexplicably, felt a piercing, sharp
blade of what seemed like a sword.
“Oh my goodness: I‟ve got a sword in my pocket!” he screamed, showing it off. The
shiny blade shone in the sunlight, shining brighter than the brightest star in the sky.
Slicing it smoothly through the air, Cameron jolted into action and with just one slice,
all of the remains of the Goblins were lying on the rocky floor.
“I have just one question,” Harry questioned. “Where did the sword come from?”
The grand gates opened for them as they entered the wondrous phenomenon of a
palace. Arms open wide, The Rose Queen greeted her old friends with a glittering smile.
“You simply won‟t believe what just happened to us!” Emily told the queen the whole,
unbelievable story, only stopping to draw breath. There was a twinkle in the Rose
Queen‟s eye.
“So it did come, that sword that I sent you?” she grinned.
“It was you!” the others chorused, surprised, they could not believe their ears.
“Josh!” Jasmine cried. Josh was mopping tears from his eyes, repeating the word,
“sorry,” over and over again. “I just wanted a change, to see the Rose Queen again. I‟m
so, so glad that you found me here, I thought you‟d guess. I‟m sorry!” he spluttered.
“Let‟s get you home then,” said Emily. “We have to get you safe before you can cause
any other mischief.”

The Skipping Stone
She was no ghost, she was no monster, she was my sister and nothing could
stop that. The day she left was the day of Christmas Eve when the water was
frosted and as hard as rock .Well that‟s what we thought.
“Do you think I can skip this stone across the ice? “ I asked curiously.
“I don‟t know don‟t ask me!” my sister replied, “don‟t do it anyway that
stone is shaped like a heart we could give it to Mum”
I ignored my little sister and I threw it across the ice covered river and it slid
across to the other side. Stupidly my sister ran on to the frosted river
without hesitation but on the 9th step about half way she fell straight
through. Silence. I froze, I panicked, and I ran.
I ran home to mum and grabbed her with little explanation, we both ran to
the grate river but all there was to see was the hole my beloved little sister
had fallen through a short time before. As soon as my mum saw the hole in
the ice she cried relentless tears, she had only lost Dad one year ago.
That day when we went home Mum was very depressed. She was grieving for
so long, we wouldn‟t even talk for days on end. There was a hole in the ice
and also in my heart.
Days, weeks, months and years went by and every second I regretted
throwing the stone. 3 years passed and I went back to the place my sister
had died. I sat and stared at the river passing by. The waves were like a hand
waving goodbye; if only I had helped she could have been here with me now.
As I stared I was lost in my own thoughts thinking of my sister. I noticed a
girl at the bottom of the river. She looked as if she was coming closer, she
put her hand out beckoned me to come in to the river. I went closer then
closer then closer. She walked on the bottom of the river and then lifelessly
she stepped out and held my hand and only at that moment I realised it was
my little sister. I can not describe the feelings that went through me in the
short moments of my sister‟s arrival. Her hand was cold but surprisingly not
the slightest bit wet. She tugged on my coat; I knew what she wanted. She
didn‟t want to be alone in the cold she wanted me to join her in her the
river. We stepped closer towards the water and waves, before I knew it my
shoes were fully in the water. I stopped walking but my sister didn‟t, she
started to pull me in so I tried to get away but she was to strong. How she
was stronger then me I do not know but this did not matter all I wanted was
to stay alive. Eventually I gave in and the water covered by whole body but
whilst I was in the water I thought of seeing Dad again in Heaven and in
peace.

The Nun Star
I had always wanted to be a pop star since I was very young but when I was finally
old enough my monster of a mother sent me to a monastery. Where I learnt about
god and how to be a good nun. It was kind of like moving house at first but now its
life or death. I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life there…but that‟s
when we found the seven chairs.
One very peculiar night at supper time Gladice (the leader of our monastery and the
oldest of us) called all of us nuns to a meeting in the grand hall. “My faithful nuns, I
am holding this meeting as we have had six of our friends escaped our lovely
monastery on six of the seven chairs from round the circle table last night-what
should we do about it?” she announced angrily. As she was talking I slipped away to
the circle table where I carefully lowered myself onto the last of the seven chairs it
felt special as I knew I was close to freedom. The holy wooden chair lifted up off
the ground and flew over to the window as quick as an athlete running a race at the
Olympics and then out of it. Realising that there were two guards on duty I started
shouting at the chair to hurry up and of course it did so. This was great I was the
boss of a chair I could tell it to go where ever I wanted; I was having the time of my
life! Until one day whilst I was passing over a town square where there was a HUGE
television screen which had seven little pictures of nuns sat on chairs soaring
through the air it was only then that I realised it was me they were after me. I knew
I had to get away, out of this country. As far as I could go.
I had been on my travels for about two days and I bet I‟d been over at least one
hundred countries. Finally I got a bit sick of all that flying and decide to have a stop
in the USA (this was the only country I knew as it was my favourite). Wandering
around I spotted a sign that said Los Angeles on it and I began jump up and down,
how embarrassing, but for not one moment did I remember that those guards were
looking for me. Amongst all my excitement I ran into the nearest shop and changed
into some real clothes, without paying. That was a bit of a relief as I was dieing of
heat in my black and white cloak.
By now I knew I wanted to live there forever and ever but even I knew I had to make
money to live so I figured the only way I could was my voice so I decided to go
busking on the streets everyday until I fell lucky when a man who turns people into
amazing celebrities walked by. But what I didn‟t know was he was a fake he was one
of the guards that had been following us. The guard stood with me for a few hours,
begging me to go with him back to the monastery till a man that really does turn
people into pop stars came past he looked amazing he had glasses shaped like stars
and really really long hair, he asked me to join him and be a pop star but no I was a
nun and that‟s what ill always be. “That was always your dream I‟ve heard you
singing in the monastery your voice was amazing,” the guard said to me.
“Ok I‟ll join you,” I finally sighed. My heart began to beat like a stampede of
elephants, I was starting a career.
Nobody ever found the missing nuns, but all we know is that the fifth chair landed
in France. I live an amazing life now just like a normal person I live in my own
house without any of those silly old nuns. But the best thing is I succeeded my
dream I‟m a nun star!

Missing in Venice
George lives at 24 Annual street in York. He is a fairly short, decently
sized boy who loves anything that moves! However he won‟t be seeing
his house for a while. The reason: he‟s going on a 5 month long trip on a
cruise round the world. It will travel from Southampton and will be on
the once biggest ship in the world: the Queen Mary.
One week lateron the first day of the amazing cruiseGeorge saw the ship
for the first time and if you yourselfhave seenQueen Maryyou will know
she is a beauty. She is the same make as the famousship Titanic.
Boarding was fairly easy they just had to show the captain their
passports. Eventually they set off on what was meant to be a trip of a
lifetime and it was: for a while…
The sea splashed gently against the side of the ship and before long they
were in the Mediterranean and then into the small forgotten Adriatic sea
which links the east coast of Italy with the former Yugoslav republic
(broken by a war) or Croatia. The first stop was Venice but just as they
arrived the ship gave a nasty jolt and suddenly changed direction
heading towards a canal. Although no one knew at the time there was a
portal on that canal that was dragging the ship in. Even with her mighty
engines in reverse Queen Mary was dragged further and further into the
canal. Buildings crumbled and people ran, screaming, around the canal as
the mighty ship uncontrollably crashed down through Venice. As the ship
approached the centre of the city a small half-oval bridge came into view.
Little did anyone know that the bridge was actually a power, the power
that was pulling the mighty ship to its doom.
However, when Queen Mary hit the bridge the mighty weight of her
shattered it, stopping the ship being pulled further into the canal. It
wasn‟t over yet though, the breaking of the bridge caused a shockwave
and buildings started falling into the canal. The ship had to quickly
reverse out. Luckily they just made it out of the canal before the whole of
Venice collapsed into the water covering the bridge for ever.
George and his family went strait home from a near by port called
Ligniano (also a lovely town on the Italian coast on the Adriatic Sea) from
there they flew to Newcastle and then they got a train back to York. They
never went on a ship again (well not near Venice anyway.) George never
ever changed his view for how beautiful Queen Mary was though.
*Queen Mary is a real ship and she really is massive but beautiful and is the same make as the Titanic. She
know longer sails on the sea but is now a floating hotel! Still in the same condition as when she was sailing.
Some ship enthusiasts are planning to try and get her moving again.

The Lamp that killed Grandma
When I was a little boy I wondered why my grandma never plugged in or turned
on one of her lamps, but now that I know I wish that I didn‟t. All the horrors
that you can imagine are moulded into one body that comes out of the hatred
lamp, I didn‟t know this when I was a little boy but it was that lamp that killed
my grandma, the person that I loved the most…why?
That day, I rushed to the hospital to see my ill grandma but when I got to her
bedside the nurse said that it was too late, that she was going to die today. I
promised that I would stay with her until then but she must have known that it
wasn‟t going to be long so she asked me to put her favourite music on ( the one
that sounds like it should be in a horror movie ). Then she said something that I
will never forget. “I will be watching you, even when you think that I‟m not, I
will be, please don‟t turn it on it will put you in g-ggggrave d-dd…..” they were
her last words, she couldn‟t finish her sentence. Why didn‟t I get there sooner?
Why?
Ten years later
I‟d just got home from work and I‟d had a day from hell, today was the
ten year anniversary from when my grandma died. I can‟t believe that 10
years ago today. So I turned on her favourite music the one that sounds
like it should be in a horror movie. I‟m still regretting not getting to the
hospital earlier to make sure grandma could have finished her sentence.
What could she have been saying, that it was the lamp, my lamp that is in
my bedroom right now, killed her? The lamp that I loved, killed the
person that I love. oh my god my lamp killed my grandma, but how ?
Instead of thinking up all of these possible ideas of what could have
happened to grandma I‟ve just decided to turn on the lamp and see what
happens. I start walking toward the lamp wondering what is going to
happen. Then scared of what was going to happen, I reached out to the
lamp and plugged it in but, just before I could the switch the it on I heard
a voice calling me, warning me. I didn‟t know if the voice was inside my
head, but strangely it sounded a lot like grandma but I just tried to ignore
it but it kept saying “Don‟t, you will regret it”. I flicked the switch the on
lamp and it flashed like a torch. Abruptly, all the lights in the house
suddenly switched off not working at all. Other that one. The lamp that
killed grandma. It was a bright as a star. I tried to run away but some
thing had crawled out of the lamp and had grabbed hold of my leg, I tried
to shake it off, but it wouldn‟t budge. So I had to take extreme measures, I
grabbed the chair and started to hit the thing until it fell off then I
stabbed it until it stopped moving. It was dead. Yes!!
Now I have realised what she was saying, well what she was about to say “grave
danger”. My name is Luca and this is my story, I have lived in darkness since
this day, why did I turn the lamp on? Why?
Olivia
Twice the night before Christmas, she was reading her best horror book
all unusual things came out of it the book the vines were sprouting out at
me… She didn‟t know what to do spiky; and prickly the vines came;
abruptly she drifted off the sleep in a blink of an eye.
Staring around she noticed she was in magical dream the jungle was
extremely pretty. It was full of all different shades of green, but she
noticed that she was alone she hear a gigantic ROAR! She dared not to
look. Slowly she started to tremble than she ran petrified she started to
sprint she didn‟t know what to do. She started to running and running
and running until she stopped and she looked around.
Abruptly, she noticed that something was behind her she slowly she
tuned her petrifying face she started to run and run and run it was a
massive lion she climbed a gigantic tree. The lion was below her feet, she
did come down for a long time. Finally the giant lion was gone she came
down from the tree.
Then she noticed that she needed to find food and water and shelter, she
started to look for food and water she built a shelter. She found so fruit
and water from the fresh steam, and then she ran back to her shelter in
the tree. She ate her food slowly because it was delectable, she finished
her food.
Slowly she woke up from her FANTASTIC! Dream she noticed that her
best horror book was gone. She looked inside and outside but she
couldn‟t find her book but it was not in her room the window was open.
It all leaned a mystery she didn‟t know where or when it happens she
could not remember anything it was still the night before Christmas.

Missing In Venice!
Gleaming aqua, you could see all of the sparkling, golden sand, teal
seaweed and smooth, pebbles at the bottom of the ocean. Queen Mary II
lay on top of the vast sea; she was white at the top and then black at the
bottom. The sky was grey and cloudy and was starting to drizzle.
Co-Captain Jones was very excited for today; it was the first time that he
had ever gone on a boat this size before. He grinned to himself. He went
up to his deck and plonked his belongings down. Jones, was soon settled
in, and happily strolled to the deck where the Captain was! It was now
getting very late so the Captain told Jones that he was in charged of
driving the boat for the night. “Now make sure you don‟t go near Venice
if the weather starts to get stormy!”
It was terrible news for Jones; the storm was now blowing so it meant
that all of the passengers onboard would not be able to go to Venice. “Oh
no!” wept Jones. The ocean was now getting very rough and it was going
to be a very bumpy ride. The boat started leaning one way, and then
another and then up and then down! (It was like a rollercoaster but even
worse.) We were now getting dragged in; where were we going to, did
anybody know the answer? Well I know I defiantly would be!
We were now being squeezed down a very narrow canal. A bit further
down the canal was a bridge and just behind the bridge was a screaming
man “Ahhhhhhhhhh! I am going to get killed.” Everybody laughed. The
stuck boat was still moving further forwards. It didn‟t look hopeful: we
were now going to be wedged there forever and we would never get out!
Abruptly they knocked down one building, and then another and then
another; from inside the houses came some peoples screams!
We felt a boat coming up behind us; the engine was roaring like a lion,
now everyone was cheering. They threw us a rope and we attached it to
our ship and then they slowly began pulling us out! We were now back in
the ocean again: there was still a huge problem though are boat couldn‟t
move because the boat was leaking. If we would have been stuck in there
any longer then all of us would have drowned. Then another boat came
up to the side of us. People were now scattering on to it as fast as they
could. It had saved are life and everyone had survived!
They all went of on the other ship and so did the entire Captain. This
time instead of driving, they were now sat on the boat and being a
normal passenger. “Looks like I might have to buy a new boat.” Spoke the
Captain and then he winked at Jones. They were now best friends and
they were going to buy another boat together.

The Curse of the Immortal Captain
“You better start believing in ghost story‟s, cause Your in one.” That‟s what he used
to say, my Uncle Tory I mean. He always said that, well that is before he went
missing at sea…
I miss my Uncle, he used to tell the greatest story‟s. About ghost ships and a
skeleton crew. I never really believed him. Well not until the night, the night he
returned.
He was holding my arm with an extremely firm grip, my arm was really aching now,
where was he leading me, where were we going. After a few minutes of painful
walking we came to a bridge “Ha” I said “nowhere to go” I was grinning now.
“Shut up David” he said with a raised voice,
I‟m David by the way a skinny boy with brown hair and brown eyes, That really
wiped that cheeky grin of my face. “Where are we going now?” I asked, no reply all
he did was swing his lantern three times and slowly a schooner appeared.
“Get on” he said sternly, I obeyed but when I got on I got the fright of my life. I was
on a ghost ship with a skeleton crew.
“Oy captain who on earth is this?” asked one of the shorter skeletons who seemed
to have a broken leg.
“This jerry is my nephew” replied my uncle Tory.
“Can we throw him overboard?” asked a the tallest and scariest of the skeletons.
“No Jim we can‟t” he was yelling slightly the skeleton called Jimmy started backing
of “lets go…”
We‟ve been trekking for hour‟s it‟s like hell trees blocking the light but still being
able to feel scorching heat and having to listen to these stupid skeletons singing.
“Where are we going?” I said.
“To the fountain of youth my future captain” said Jerry.
“WHAT!” I yelled.
“Shut up Jerry” said my uncle. “Right David I need you to listen to me do you
remember when I went missing I went missing because me, Jerry and the rest of the
crew found the fountain of youth it mad me immortal but its rubbing of and that
my friend is were you come in the ship needs a new captain and you‟re the only one
young enough and if you were any older the effects would were of over time and…”
He was cut of because one of the skeletons started yelling “we found it the fountain
of youth”
A few minutes later we came to a gigantic concrete fountain and a shiny gold goblet
full of water “Drink” said my uncle so I drank and drank and drank, and from that
last gulp I was captain of a ghost ship and a skeleton crew…
Thomas
The Diamond Curse
“Land Ahoy” shouted eye patch Eddie from the crows nest.
“Well what are you waiting for, climb the riggings” exclaimed captain
Tory the vast, his crew had just found a treasure map and were on there
way to the treasure. There ship was a small old schooner and he had a
crew with a heart of a lion. They had just found the Diamond of captain
red beard. But because of there greed they got a curse which meant they
all turned into skeletons! Apart from the captain who got immortal
life……
Legend has it that his great, great, great, great, great grandson wears it
around his neck, well the legend is true the only reason that he hasn‟t
been affected because it only works once…..
300 years later he came back to find his grandson so, one night a
schooner appeared out of no were and all you could see was skeleton
pirates drinking beer and scoffing the faces with cheese & bread.
Alfie an orphan boy thought he had been bought the diamond by his
mother and father he never knew. Never would he believe that it had a
curse on it! On the 27th June 2009 Tory his grandfather snook through the
window of the ofanage when every one was asleep and picked him up
and ran to the sea.Abruttly Alfie woke up and said “you can not take me
any further because the sea is there, ha haha”
“Are you sure” answered captain Tory. And on that statement he swung
his lantern three times and a ship appeared full of skeletons.” Who are
you I could call the police”
“I‟m you great greatgreatgreatgreat grandfather…”
The next morning the pirates woke him up at six am! And they started to
collect axes and swords; and before he knew it he getting hit with swords
and axes just so they could get the necklace but the diamond had dealt
with them before and he still knew they were greedy so the weapons just
kept getting smashed.
Later that night they got board and went to bed but Alfie had other ideas.
He stayed up and through the diamond over board and it slowly drifted
to the bottom of the Sea and as it hit the sand a skeleton came out of it
with a curly red beard and slowly slowly drifted away…..

Little Angel
There was a boy named Archie Smith (boy wonder). He had brown hair
like toffee melting in my mouth, like a ghost his skin glowed in the dark.
When he was little, (very little three Years old), his mum told him “never
trust strangers.” He always wonders why she said that to him…
Then one duel dark night he woke up hearing voices saying.
“Is he the one… is he the one.” In a whispering voice.
He climbed out of his bed slowly like a snail so then the voices wouldn‟t
hear him, He grabbed his base ball bat, and hung it up higher than the
statue of liberty. He reached for the door … then places his bony back
against the wall… turns as quickly as fast as a grey hound in a race, but
there was nobody there. He thought to himself where have they gone. But
he had been warned! The little voice wanted him for his magic powers.
That was when he disappeared…
Before that bumpy rough ride, he went though a bright abrupt light. He
looked very puzzled and confused a witch appeared out of the blue she
gave him a message saying
“You have magic powers that will create FIRE!”
He froze for a moment a spoke,
“Really I have always wanted powers” gasped Archie
The generous witch begged him
“Please help me defeat the devilish witch”
He didn‟t know what to do or to say so he paused and then said
“Yes.” He worried about the witch if she had better powers than him. He
trained and trained to win the witch. Did he win or did he lose?
He defeated the devilish witch with his outstanding power the kind witch
thanked him over and over again he was overwhelmed with the kind
witch, and he wanted to go home, “but she said you can‟t leave once
you‟ve come in!”
“Why” he yelled.
“NOOOOO, YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME, AFTER ALL WHAT I DID FOR YOU!”
he bellowed
“Why are you doing this to me, why?”
The witch felt very sorry that he couldn‟t leave. So she tried to take him
home but her powers just weren‟t good enough to send him home. So she
gave up. She whimpered “I‟m so sorry” you just can‟t go home.
That‟s why you should never trust strangers.

The Alive Bird
There once lived a small bird CALLED BEN and he was restricted and
could not fly. He was not like any other bird he was a paper bird. He was
stuck to the wall paper and he was a very tiny frustrated BIRD. BUT THE
BIRD WAS ABOAT TO DO SOMETHING that would change his life for ever
as a bird….
BEN was so stress trying to escape he hurt himself on his weak paper
wing, meanwhile there was someone having an argument out side the
window, the bird hadn‟t liked his life on the wall paper THAT MUCH, he
never thought it was possible to escape.
The girl was so upset she came up stairs and threw a big red ball at the
bird because she was so angry with her mum THAT SHE COULD NOT GO
TO A PARTY. Next morning when the girl went out THE BIRD ONCE AGAIN
TRIED TO GET OUT.
THE BIRD WAS SOOO glad THAT HE COULD GET OUT. HE fell down with a
crash. The brave bird gets back up to have another go at flying then he
gets the hang of it THEN he fly‟s like an extremely thrilled eagle and
glides and fly‟sall day.
After all the fun he has to come back to the wallpaper since HE WOULD
SCARE THE GIRL AND HER MUM. he was still happy because he knew he
could fly where he wants AND when ever he wants FROM THEN ON HE
WAS A VERY HAPPY BIRD.

Pumpkin Girl
This is a very spectacular story. But it dose make me quite aggravated. It
caused massive problems a couple of years ago. It was a special year
because this time every year I make pumpkin pie. This is how it went…
Quietly I was all alone, in a dark pitch black lonely room with me and my
pumpkin as I was about to make pumpkin pie with my best friend, when
abruptly she dispread and I just though (weird). As I was about to get my
sharp knife with the pointiest Point ever! I chopped up the pumpkin
Until me husband came whizzing round the corner in his posh bran new
white range rover he came in and decide to turn Reanna into a pumpkin.
Instantly he left and hopefully he won‟t be in sight again!
“What are we going to do because there is nothing I can really” sobbed
Reanna,
“I don‟t have a clue maybe if I give him some aspirin he will be ok I did think
that he has been acting weird lately”
“I‟ll ring him now to come back for a drink of tea”
“Mark is on his way back he said he will leave if it is not ready by the time
he gets hear”
“Quick get it out ready” Reanna shouted
“Mark is hear” Reanna whispered
“I‟m here is it ready ho I see it is on the table”
“Drink up now don‟t put any time to waste”
“I‟ve Finished it ho yeah I forgot to mention why is Reanna a pumpkin?”
Mark said.
“You did it” Reanna cried
“Close you eyes count to 10 then hey presto there we go”
“One

“Few I‟m me again” Reanna laughed

Well I‟m overjoyed! “I got to go back to work now” Mark shouted
Now things are back to normal and everything has been sorted out between
us all and it will never happen again know body new that he could turn
people into pumpkins but obviously he can but now he has had aspirin he
can never do it again!

Another Place, Another Time
“Archie, please don’t go and find your real parents.” The words echoed around my head.
I wanted to, I needed to. I couldn‟t live another parent – free moment. For once, I would
have to be a bad, bad boy.
The moonlight skimmed over the dusky lake, reflections staring back up at me. I
shouldn‟t be out, but I wanted to be out. Birds slept in the trees all around me, making
me feel safe.
A man approached me: stubble faced and was wearing a grubby, naval uniform.
“Archie?” I nodded. “Come with me if you want happiness. Also known as, your
parents,” the stranger grumbled, his voice just distinctive over the quiet ripples in the
water.
I followed him to an old cart, the one the locals used to take to the port. It stopped
there, or so I thought. Before I had time to grab my shoes off the soggy bank, the cart
lurched into action.
When the cart reached port, dawn was glistening over the hushed village, birds now
cheeping in the sky. I was about to climb out but then something shocked me so much
that I started to get back in. The old cart continued, laying out the track over the pale,
blue water.
Unexpectedly, the cart stopped. I looked around and saw a jaw-dropping, vast castle in
front of my eyes. The man shook his head, obviously impatient with me for wasting his
time. I climbed out, placing my foot on the solid ice that covered the land. It stung my
foot as my mind drifted back to remember that my shoes were on the bank.
I could barely move over the ice when the cart went from behind me. Losing balance, I
fell into the freezing water. The old man didn‟t even flinch and continued backwards,
glaring at me through black eyes.
I whole body went numb. Very quickly. I started screaming, though I knew nobody could
hear me.
“Help!” Water went rushing into my mouth and I had to spit it forcefully out, coughing
and spluttering helplessly.
Out of the castle, two hideous people came rushing out and hauled me onto the bank,
arms first. The woman had a towel and a hot flask. She wrapped me up and placed my
mouth gently over the warm drink. It felt like heaven melting in my mouth and into my
stomach.
They looked at me again, staring rudely. “Archie!” they both cried out, embedding me in
a huge hug. It was my real parents! We stood on the bank, hugging, as the wind brushed
against our cheeks.
“Archie, please don’t go and find your real parents.” The words no longer echoed around
my head but they taught me a lesson. My parents may be freaks but they loved me. I
lost a lot of things – like my shoes – but found two new things to make up for it. The
lake and the birds may not be there to make me happy, but now I have a family and the
knowledge that I am loved. And, well, that‟s better than anything I could ever hope for.
Lois

  • 1. The Caterpillars and Me I‟m an orphan. Well, I used to be one. I could tell you millions of stories from when I was a little girl however there is one I love to tell; The caterpillars and me. You may have had adventure in your life but I bet none of them will compare to mine… It all started about thirty years ago. My parents (Jenny Smith and Richard) had thrown me out after I attempted to run away! As you may have guessed that‟s how I became an orphan. I hated it at the care home; half eaten stairs, dirty floor and rotting walls. Sounds nice, right? One night I ran away, not knowing where to go or who I‟d meet. I sat down to find two little olive green caterpillars. As weird as it sounds, they kept me in great company. I mean you can‟t expect to find much in an over ground, grass filed wood! Their names were Oscar and Alphonse. I would speak to them all day and then place them carefully on a leaf when night fell. In the day I would head down to the local market and steal warm doughy soft bread, sweat fruit and buckets full of cooling fresh water. I wouldn‟t say I was living the dream but I guess who does? They were my family! Then, one boiling, summer‟s day I got told by Oscar that I was ready. At the time I didn‟t now what they meant but once they had explained it to me I understood. As well as them I new I had to get out there and have an adventure of my own. I could swim to Rome or run to Australia; maybe I‟m exaggerating a bit but who knows. I said goodbye to Oscar and Alphonse and set of on my very own adventure. I didn‟t exactly go anywhere amazing or exciting I just walked around town, went in a few shops; nothing special really. I went home after about a week in the square. I have to say I remember really looking forward to seeing my caterpillars again. I found my spot. I looked everywhere. Where were they? They couldn‟t off go far; after all they are not the fastest creatures in the world. Suddenly, I saw I little, brown thing on the floor. I steadily crouched down and picked it up to then hold it in my palm. I glared at it carefully. Could it really be! It was a cocoon. It was if they had had there adventure as well as me… Later that day, two beautiful butterfly‟s flue past, swirling in the air as they went. Instantly, I knew we had a bond never to be broken. That is my most favourite story of all because, it shows that you have to be strong and enjoy what you have. When ever I see a butterfly flutter past it reminds me of myself as a little girl. I will be surprised if your adventure beets mine. But remember the purpose of this story isn‟t the adventure it the way it changed who I am today… Abigail
  • 2. Just Dessert She has had a traumatising child-hood. Your probably wondering who I am talking about, I am talking about a woman could Unna, Unna was a lovely woman but she moved house years and years ago so she hasn‟t seen anyone in ages. Can you imagine what a horrible life she has had living on her own. It was her friends birthday coming up soon and Unna and Ivey always use to make pumpkin pie. But because Unna didn‟t know were anyone was or how to catch up, she made it by herself. She had been planting this pumpkin for donkey‟s years (50 years). Unna went to cut the pumpkin whilst thinking of Ivy, but the pumpkin started to light up in a shiny, bright sort of way. Unna didn‟t cut it all she did was stair at it like it was a angel from high above. She thought it was a dream so she rubbed her eyes and there it was still lighting up. She went to bathe her eyes, she then looked up again and saw that it was still glowing… Unna then heard a voice saying “it is Ivy, Unna please don‟t cut me and eat me” whimpered the pumpkin. Unna got scared. Then the pumpkin said “Unna your husband is out turning people into pumpkins, he stole the pumpkin from your back garden and put me in the hole”. She didn‟t believe the pumpkin. She cut it to check if it is true and then Ivy slowly jumped out. Ivy and Unna where so shocked to see each other that they calibrated by eating some delouses pumpkin pie .Ivy had a lot of gossip to tell unna so they never stopped talking.then they decidedto live together in a horrible house in the woods. That is just part of Unna‟s life, it is very complicated please don‟t try playing this story at home it is very dangerous. Alexis
  • 3. Strange Moving I hate it. Moving house is not good; I‟m lonely now: no friends, awful school and terrible neighbours. Even though my Dad paid so much money for this house in this posh area, sounds nice right? But it is worth nothing to me, nothing. My big sister is loving it new friends and everything but I don‟t understand how she does, hopefully I‟ll be like that soon.., It has been at least a week we have been house now, but it feels like a year (maybe even more than that) – I have been stuck in my bedroom all morning, so fed up. My dad told me to get dressed and get in the Christmas sprit and help with the decorations (I would rather die!). As I made my way down stairs I felt like everyone had stopped putting decorations up and started glaring at me. But what for? I only wanted some peace in my bedroom. “Come on Adam, get down stairs to the basement and get the lights in and hurry up,” asked Mum politely. while I was going down stairs a cold chill came through me and I started shivering, everywhere I looked they was lots and lots of cob webs and I wanted to get out and quick. When I reached the bottom of the stairs the pipes were dripping in a repitive pattern drip, drop, drip, drop and I wanted to get out even more now it was getting creepy. Then strangely I seen an tiny, brown, old door it must have been as small as a ant, (I wasn‟t really sure what it was). Still staring at the door, the door knob started turning my heart was pounding and I was about to cry, I was a man I couldn‟t cry, could I … Moving backwards away from the door getting more frightened, the door started opening as you looked closer I could see a green foot coming out The creature that emerged was not a creature you would normally see on earth, it had big eyes bulging out of its tiny face: they were really cut and watery (like puppy eyes). Its belly had a patch of snake‟s scales on it, it had the prettiest of all nails with its aqua nails it brightens your day. I‟m sure it was an ALIEN! I could hear a voice a really quite one getting bigger and bigger and then I heard what it said it stared at me, And whispered “My parents, they here in earth, help, need to find them, help,” I don‟t really think I was scared of it any more (it was quiet cute) and I asked if I could help it, It must have been at least 30 cm high, really quit small and I asked it again if it wanted help but no reply. “Help me find my mother and father they are here in earth when I find them I can go back to my world but without them I couldn‟t go back, that is what my ruler said” whispered the alien even quieter now. I can help the alien, I would need help if it was me. Picking the alien up, I sneaked up into my room I asked him wear we needed to find his parents he said at the science lab, they are doing experiments on them and that we needed to hurry, I ran into the garage and got the bikes out- one small and one big and we cycled there really fast, when we got there we seen his parents trapped we got the key from the side and let them out, you could tell the alien was happy to see his parents. I will be quiet sad when they go home because of our bond but I will remember him. Then out of no where his parents spoke, “Stay with this boy son it is a war zone back at home, you will not live happy and you can always visit , lets say every Tuesday don‟t forget and remember I love you” sadly whispered the parents. As quick as a runner he replied “For the rest of my life.” My life is what I dreamed of. I am not bored any more, I will never be: great friend, amazing house, and brilliant neighbourhood. Even though I didn‟t like this house when I first moved here – I hated the place, but boo me its miles better than my old home. Now I love my life and all, me and alien have a big step tomorrow: new school… Amy
  • 4. THE MANSION OF MAPLE STREET! Maple Street: no one has lived there, no one has dared to. One couple has been in, never come out. Still no one has yet known why. A middle-age couple it was, very jolly indeed. Mark: fearless, manly and polite. Emma was a person full of exuberance. No matter, what horrific moments arrive, none would defeat her. The couple was determined in every possible way. It all started as they settled in. A nice relaxed day it was meant to be but yet relaxation would convert into fear. It was a day that they would never forget! Straight away was the stage to edit the structure. The legend was passed through the ages that this stage was also as the „Haunted stage‟. The couple wanted to transform this old house into a modern mansion. The house too had some ideas. Monday morning, Mark set off to work whereas Emma was relaxing at home. During a nice kip, Emma‟s eyes abruptly opened. A sent of burning wandered through the mansion. As she stood up, a rush of heat met her face. Shaking, she picked up the phone and immediately messaged Mark to arrive as soon as possible. Instantly, the noise of a key was at the door. The footsteps arrived upstairs and what greeted him was unbelievable. Heat rushed to his face, “A bit waaarr……..” As he turned the corner of the stairs fire met his eye! “AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!” A scream so loud that only a dog‟s super-sonic ears could hear it. Sweat poured from his head making pool of sweat. The local fire brigade arrived. Full in kit, it was like Man of Steel. It was sure that the day was saved. Yet still there was more to come. Five minutes had passed but no change was made. Finally, it calmed. The raging fire still had some plans of its own. “I just wish we could have some time off on a magnificent beach on Barbados.” Bizarrely they didn‟t know what was in store for them. The house really was starting to come alive. Like Lord Sugar, the house was clearly taking in everybody‟s ideas. It was even a bit better! As hours passed, the firemen had left and the day was coming to an end. As the sun was beginning to set, a rumble shook the room. In fact it shook the house. Canvases were falling, glasses were smashing! The demolition carried on until a jump lifted the shattered glass and canvas off the floor. Little did they know this mansion was lifting off. Screams were belting out from the couples mouths. Only a few minutes later a „BANG‟ sounded. They had landed on the ground, on safety. The couple dashed out of the house, not knowing where they were. An intense brightness shot them with fear. “We‟re trapped,” screamed Mark, thinking it was another fire. “I don‟t think so,” Emma explained. Mark opened his eyes, they popped out of his head. Barbados greeted them! It couldn‟t get any better. Ansh
  • 5. Uninvited Guests… Harry a nine year old boy had lived at 2 Habergham Close for at least 9 years now. He thought it was the best house that could ever be but there had always been something missing: a brother or sister to share it with. Sitting in the living room, Harry heard mysterious noises coming from the basement. He crawled down the stairs as quiet as a mouse because he didn‟t want to disturb whatever‟s down there. His heart pumped like a drum as the door knob jiggled… Out came a tiny but bulky troll the colour of a green apple. “Please help me, I hate being a troll,” Shouted the tiny thing. Harry stood there speechless. “I have to stay here for at least 7 hours then I can be like you!” Harry didn‟t listen as he was half way up the stairs “WAIT!” Screamed the troll, Harry stopped and turned around, he realised how much this meant to the little troll and decided to help him. “Ok,” Said Harry “I‟ll help you but we can‟t tell my mum or dad so we‟ll have to stay in here.” The little troll started to bounce about with joy; he knocked over Harry‟s mum‟s ice skating boots and they landed glade first and scratched all the floor. “What a great 7 hours this will be…..” thought Harry. SMASH, SCRATCH, CRASH, troll was knocking EVERYTHING over and because no one but Harry knew about him, Harry would have to take all the blame. Harry had had enough, even though it had only been 6 hours, this was the right time to say goodbye. “Ok Troll I think its time to leave now,” “But it‟s not been 7 hours,” exclaimed Troll. Harry could tell he was a sensitive troll as every time he knocked something over he burst into tears, and it‟s happening again! “I just think well, my mum would notice the broken things and would want an answer and you wouldn‟t want anyone else finding out about you? Would you?” “I understand,” Drooping his head Troll had tears falling from his eyes. He started to pick up pieces of what he broke, he took a long time… possibly 50 minutes but no one noticed, except him. Leaning against the wall, Harry waited silently when he realised that troll would waste as much time as he could; he‟d have to trick him into leaving! Harry thought and thought then suddenly it came to him: leave a note on the door from his parents! Harry was sure it would work, but he needed to write something really persuasive. “Dear Troll, where are you? We miss you, everyone does! Please come home. Your Family X. That should do it,” Thought Harry. Harry stuck it on the tiny little door and waited for Troll to see it. “I‟m finished,” said Troll sadly “Ok, I think this note‟s for you…” “Oh,” Troll Paused “I REALLY DON‟T WANT TO GO HOMEEE!” He wailed. Harry started to feel guilty. “Ok, Ok, I‟m such a bad liar….I wrote that note, I really needed you to go home,” “Well I guess I‟m going now…” As Troll stepped towards the tiny wooden door he started to grow bigger and change to peach, then Harry realised Troll became a human. All in two days, they made Troll a new name: Lucas, they also applied him into Harry‟s school and introduced him to Harry‟s family. Good news, Harry family adopted him! So looks like Harry‟s dream did come true: he now has a brother! Charlotte
  • 6. The Mysterious Harp This is going to be the best summer yet, I thought to myself. I live in a demolished street with only two families on it! My cottage was at the end of mysterious woods. People went missing in the woods; about two months ago that what people said. Everyday I would walk my dog and try to find the missing people. Some people said it was a myth some people it was planned. But on this particular day! It was eleven „O‟ clock. I was walking my dog. I could hear strange noise from over the river. There it was „THE HARP‟. The mellow river wasn‟t tranquil anymore; the sea blue water was hitting the rock like a pair of drums. I didn‟t no what to do, my heart was thumping. Sweat was dripping of my face. I couldn‟t run my feet were stiff. “Jim tea”, bellowed Mum in a howling voice. “Help”, cried Jim. “What wrong”, whispered Mum in coldly voice. “The Harp, over there “, replied Jim in a stuttering voice. “Where”? ”It‟s not there now”, mumbled Mum! “Let‟s get a mug of hot chocolate.” Next day the wind was high, trees was scattered around the woods grimy floor, the river clashed against the rocks. My throat was dry I couldn‟t shout for help. Across the river was the Harp penetrating my ear. I couldn‟t hear anymore, my heart was pounding. My dog was going closer and closer by the minute. I was too late he did, his head hovered above the hammering the water. I didn‟t know what to do, half of my body was saying to jump and the other half was saying not to. I did it… Lucky I got the Harp while holding my dog. At that point I knew I was near the waterfall. I didn‟t get out in time. While going down the colossal waterfall, I was trying to snap one of the strings. My fingers were not strong enough. My dog came to my rescues and his rescue; he hastily ripped the strings in quarter. I was back in the real world not the fantasy. I knew this would me the best summer yet. I knew I was alive my heart was beating; my ear could hear anything from three mile away. I felt like a hero and I think my dog thinks he is a hero. Was it a dream or not…. Daniel
  • 7. The Seventh Chair On an unusual, peculiar afternoon, Ivy was busy at home. She was admiring her new hand carved chair. What Ivy didn‟t know though, is that this was no ordinary chair. This was the Seventh Chair… Every Sunday afternoon Ivy would stroll happily down to the ancient monastery. Because Ivy was so friendly and kind to everyone she knew, she was friends with everyone there. Today it was different for her but she didn‟t know it. The trees were towering over Ivy and howled in the wind as she walked down to the monastery as per usual. As Ivy walked in she found the monastery was empty. Suddenly her smile turned into a disappointed frown. Had the service been cancelled and nobody had bothered to tell her? Was it at a different place today? She was definitely in the right place. “Hello?” spoke Ivy, her voice turning into an echo down the monastery. “Is anybody there?” The only reply she received was the sound of her own voice. Without trying to waste another minute of her day, Ivy turned around on her heels and walked away slowly as if she was hoping somebody would suddenly be at the monastery; shouting her name. As soon as Ivy got home, she dumped her bag on the floor and walked straight into the kitchen. Bradley (the Bulldog) was lying on the floor with one paw over the other. Ivy turned her head to meet Bradley‟s. She sat on her brand new chair for the first time still wondering why nobody was at the monastery. With Bradley lying across her lap, she stroked him softly as if he was fragile. “What‟s the matter Bradley? Are you sad too?” Ivy would always talk to her dog as it was her only company. All of a sudden, Ivy was off the ground and into the air. Her heart was pounding and her mouth dropped while her hands gripped onto the chair for dear life. Within a second, she was out the front door with Bradley by her side. Ivy‟s mouth finally closed and her shocked face turned into a smile. In front of her was the monastery. Hovering above the ground, Ivy headed into the monastery with her eyes grown bigger and wider by the minute. Then Ivy looked down. Her hand looked different. She looked at her other hand. That was different too. Wondering what was going on, Ivy felt her head. She couldn‟t feel her hair but instead felt a hat. What is happening to me? Ivy thought to herself in a panic. She saw that she was no longer hovering in the air, but once again remained on the ground. Then she realized. She was a Nun. As she looked up she found that there were already six chairs in front of her. Will that happen to me? Ivy wondered to herself. That‟s when she finally figured it out. She was the Seventh Nun on the Seventh Chair. Georgia
  • 8. JODIE AND THE CATERPILLAS All was calm and still with the beautiful dazzling sun shining down onto the grass. White clouds drifted across the sky everything seemed so peaceful and ordinary. Yet one thing wasn‟t ordinary: there was a girl in the middle of the field all on her own, all on her own… This girl was an orphan who had set off on a journey to find a family. She was miserable and wanted a home. For the last three years she had been all on her own traipsing through fields and forests and trying to find food. All she wanted was something good in her life and then she would be so grateful. While Jodie was trudging through the field she stopped to have a rest under a giant oak tree. As she lay down she saw two green things wriggling around on her leg. Wondering what it was, she carefully sat up. The two things were baby caterpillars the size of a jelly bean; both lime green colours with pretty black stripes. From then on Jodie loved her caterpillars and was very grateful that she had something. “Oscar, Alphonse,” she would call in her soft voice, “You have made me so happy, thank you so much!” One night she couldn‟t get to sleep because she kept wondering, “What are my family really like?” She made up a song and sang it to herself over and over again until she finally put herself to sleep. Jodie woke up four hours later at 4am when the sun was just rising, Jodie was exhausted but she had lots to do. She looked around but couldn‟t find her caterpillars anywhere, confused she rubbed her eyes about five times but still couldn‟t find them anywhere. Crying and crying Jodie spent the next hour looking for them but she had to give up to go on her way. Jodie knew she shouldn‟t just leave them; guilt plus sadness was shooting down her but there was nothing she could do. She said goodbye to the field and everything else and set off on her way again! The next morning she woke up with a huge smile on her face: there right in front of her was a large town. She sprinted all the way towards it and arrived in just a few minutes after she had set off!Walking around a family came up to her and asked why she was all alone and in ragged clothes. They sat down and Jodie explained everything: by the end the Mother was crying and they took her to live with them. “Thank you so much I couldn‟t be happier!” Jodie cried. She had the biggest smile on her face ever, she just couldn‟t believe it: she had now got a home a Mother, a Father and a Sister! Better things were happening every minute!Just as she was going into her house two beautiful green and black butterflies flew towards her, “Oh Oscar, oh Alphonse,” She shouted crying with happiness, “You‟re back and look at you two now!” The butterflies and she had a very joyful life from then on and the butterflies came to visit Jodie every now and again. Jodie left her butterflies to go off and live their live while she lived hers; she would never be the girl in the middle of a field all alone again! Grace
  • 9. GEORHIA One dark late afternoon Emilia and Daniel, who were both the same age 16, was out at the local lake skipping some pebbles as the sun came down. They had three oval, soft pebbles each but they soon used most of them up in a couple of throws. There was one left. Daniel was about to throw it but then he hesitated and let Emilia throw it instead. She threw it with all her might. It was perfect, it skipped perfect. Daniel spoke in a soft voice, “Let‟s go.” Abruptly, the pebble came striking back out of the water. “What was that?” Emily asked. They decided to investigate. Daniel saw a shadow move in the water. It was like a human‟s body but with a much longer ear and bulged eyes. It was moving closer and closer every minute until it was at their feet. It spoke. “Hello.” “What are you?” replied Emilia with a slight wobble in her voice. “I am Georhia and I am from the planet Mars!” Emilia and Daniel stood in shock trying to believe what lay in front of them. After a while of getting to know Georhia, she said something that could put Daniel and Emilia in great danger. “I‟ve got a task for you; it is hard but I think you can achieve it. I want you to get a precious emerald pearl to save me, it will transport me back to mars you have a week!” “Remember it‟s somewhere famous that only you know.” Daniel and Emilia went to start their amazing and adventurous journey . It was hard for them because they did not know where they were going; only that it was in an important place. They searched every where from the Eiffel Tower to the Statue of Liberty because when they where both little they went all over the world with Emilia‟s father. They couldn‟t find it anywhere. They had two days left. Then Emilia realised that Georhia meant somewhere close to them and that is what she meant about „only you know!‟ Daniel had an idea. The fountain, the fountain that Emilia and him played in when they were younger. “The Emerald Eye!” Emilia shouted with excitement “The emerald eye on the statue of the fountain, it was a pearl,” she started to add to her point. “It‟s at the house, come on,” she said with delight. As they took out the emerald pearl eye from the statue, they saw an illumines light coming from the sky going towards the lake. She had gone. Three years later, they both did not know why she had left without saying thank you or goodbye; from this day they still live in wonder and possibly in regret. Daniel and Emilia will always remember that late afternoon skipping stones together with Georhia. Even if they never saw her again, their memory of Georhia will live on for the rest of long and sweet lives. Hannah
  • 10. No Longer Alive It was a gloomy, winters night and the windows were frosted and all Carl could hear was the whooshing of the washing machine spinning round and round like a tornado. Picking up his wooden, crooked, old, brown chair, Carl noticed that there was a miniscule creature underneath his fluffy, red rug. Carl wasn‟t to sure what it was and was stuck between moving a step closer or a step back. The creature scurried around like a mouse trying to dodge the mouse traps. It knocked everything over the side table, the lamp and was sure going to knock a lot more things down if Carl didn‟t destroy the thing. Moving round to every angle that Carl could think of, he finally found himself trapping the creature. Now he could stab and hit it until it died and until the whole thing was destroyed! Carl threw the wooden chair at the unusual thing and then threw the lamp at it. At last, the creature was now no longer alive it had been demolished. After the creature was demolished, Carl was overjoyed that it was dead! But his joy was abruptly disappearing; more and more little things were rising up from underground. They crawled out of the fluffy, red rug and started to climb up Carl‟s legs! Now some of the creatures were on top of Carl‟s head and he could not take anymore. The creatures were pulling Carl down to the ground and then started to eat the flesh and bones of his body… Standing round the grave with their woolly hats, coats and gloves on and while the grass blades where like icicles, Carl‟s family were crying waterfalls. They were devastated at Carl‟s loss and wondered at what killed him. 5 years later… Carl‟s family never found out at what killed him and every year on the same date his family and friends would sadly stand round his grave and pray to him. Until one day when someone looked under the fluffy, red rug… Isobel
  • 11. The Tune that Never Ends One summer‟s day there was a boy who lived in a cottage near a beautiful river. He lived with his mum and dog. His dad had died in war at Afghanistan and they have never spoken of him since. Until now… That same after noon he was walking his dog done the beautiful majestic river and he started to skim stones along the swaying river. When he saw a sentence in the water it said “don‟t lighten to the harp or doom will come”. Then it faded; suddenly he saw a harp on a ruff rock at the other side of the river. It started to play it sounded like angles singing it mad ripples in the water. Without any warning he started to be lured to the harp like a magnet he got closer and closer. Suddenly he found his self on the floor it looked like he was in a battle a big battle, he saw a man in the distance and then he realised the man what his dad. He came running towards the boy but his dad ran straight through him like he was a ghost. His dad fell to the floor like a fallen tree. Behind him was the harp again it began to play and play he shouted “stop it stop it” suddenly he fainted. He woke in a dark room and there was a big mountain that was higher and higher till he was hanging next to it. He grabbed the harp with all his might and jumped done while holding on he fell to the floor like a rock. Suddenly the harp smashed like glass and as it did it sounded like hell braking loose. Sadly he died with it and it was in the paper that he had go missing. It had been 20 years since the boy had died. And there had been a very peculiars sighting at the river people say they saw a harp people say they saw a boy playing the harp but all they know for sure is that the river isn‟t the same any more especially after the boy died. And some people can still here a tune coming from a harp or something but it wasn‟t sweet it was like it had been broken for some time in summer. Jacob
  • 12. Defeating the Weeds I‟ve just been to my local library; I got a really good book. But the peculiar library keeper stopped me and said “You don‟t want that book”. As soon as I got home I kicked my shoes off and started to read. My new book is so interesting. It is about weeds in your garden and how you kill them and how to stop them growing. Then it turned 10 o‟clock I got addicted to the book it was just so phenomenal so I went to bed to forget about it. I‟m thinking in my head what‟s going to happen tomorrow in the book I just went to bed so I could read it tomorrow. I just couldn‟t so I read one more paragraph I fell asleep in the middle of it… I woke up to find a weed from the book squeezing my hand my eyes were fading away. I woke up and all the weeds were capturing me everything was numb on my body my fingers, legs, arm, toes everywhere was numb. It was aching so bad tears were slowly going down my eyes I was going to die. Then I saw Mr Linden the peculiar library keeper was sneaking in looking for the book. But then he saw me tied up in all these weeds. Then he pulled out his Swiss army knife from his pocket and saved me then I safely gave him the book back and said “thank you Mr Linden thank you”. As soon I said thank you I dropped to the floor. I fainted. When I woke up Mr Linden was by my side putting a cold flannel on my head. I slouched up and hugged Mr Linden. I was speech less but so relived. After that day I went to Mr Linden‟s library everyday to get a book and say hello. James
  • 13. THE MYSTERIOUS MAPLE STREET HOUSE Maple Street: A demolished street with one family, one road and one mansion. Hardly anyone set foot on the territory, but the odd one or two valiant ones entered to knock on the door. Becoming quite timid they wait, but suddenly the dad comes and shrills so raucously they scamper off like a mouse about to be gobbled up. Of course, there was an explanation to their anger and boredness. One day, the street was delightful with beautiful mansions, colourful flowers and cheerful people. Out of the blue, a bunch of tramps pillaged the street, meddling with every house and robbing everything. The other less unfortunate people managed to move however this family were robbed more than any other. So, they couldn‟t move or evacuate to a family member because they were all dead. “Another boring day,” mumbled Dad, after he read the newspaper. The fire flames mildly warmed up the gloomy room; the light shining in everyone‟s faces. The expansive room had damp, dark walls with the door‟s edges ripped to the bare wood. The carpet was paper-thin with a hint of crystal white in the middle; there was matt grey on the edges. “It‟s not!” exclaimed the mum, “Guess what, we‟ve got a guest!” The Dad and Kid stared in astonishment. Their hearts skipped a beat and their reaction was nothing; they just sat stock-still. Gradually, the Mum revealed her hand which was behind her back; a bunch of notes. “You‟re joking,” the Dad whispered, “We‟ve got guests and we‟ve got money.” Suddenly, they all stood up and began to cheer, throwing the money everywhere, laughing like hyenas. “We better hurry up.” The kid exclaimed, “They‟ll be here any minute!” They commenced by darting outside to buy all sorts of accessories: paints, wallpapers and tools. They got back in a hurry, decorating every room to perfection. Only, one room remained: the loft. “The guest can sleep in the loft.” the Mum said, spitting the words out in a hurry. Together, they all flung the brittle door open to start painting the walls and installing the stunning oak furniture: a desk and some wardrobes. It was dreams come true for the family, they had rejoiced once again. After moving the furniture, they immediately found a hole in one of the walls. It was pitch-black, like a never ending tunnel. “What is that?” questioned the Dad, “It must be some kind of….” Abruptly, the hole shone a brilliant, banana-coloured yellow which gleamed into their eyes. Bewildered and blind, they fell to the floor unconscious while a rumbling noise started downstairs. Unaware of the situation, the house flew of like it had a mind of its own……. The kid sat up, quaking with fear. Dizziness flowed through his brain as he stumbled to the front door. He threw it open and stared in astonishment. He was as happy as a bee with honey. The kid bolted outside, looked around the place, and whispered, “Just wait till they see this.” Junaid
  • 14. Lost In a Hidden World They‟d searched everywhere. If he was anywhere, he‟d be here; it was the only place that they hadn‟t searched yet. He simply had to be here. On a cheerless, eerie night, Josh had mysteriously vanished. Nobody had seen him in two days, since he trudged to bed on Halloween night. That was when the brilliant idea came to them: he was in the hidden world. Ever since they were little, Jasmine, Emily, Harry, Cameron and Josh had travelled, on the rickety, old cart, towards their magical world of dreams. Their dear, beloved friend, The Rose Queen, lived there, in her mind blowing palace. It did seem quite a possibility that he would be there, but the only question is, how would Josh have got there in the space of just a flimsy half an hour? They were all rearing and ready to go; they had to start their quest to find the missing boy. Jumping into the cart, they held hands, crossing their numb fingers. High pitched screeching came from beneath the cart as they zoomed across the track. It was never easy getting to The Hidden World, there were always many obstacles in the way. “Oh no, don‟t tell me they‟re what I think they are,” Cameron breathed in disbelief. They had just been proved absolutely right. Startled, Jasmine shrieked, her stomach churning. “What should we do?!” Harry yelled, putting up his weak fists. Squinting at the friends, were indeed, five, green, furious goblins. Jasmine let out a howl, a waterfall streaming from her eyes. Cameron reached into his pocket, and, inexplicably, felt a piercing, sharp blade of what seemed like a sword. “Oh my goodness: I‟ve got a sword in my pocket!” he screamed, showing it off. The shiny blade shone in the sunlight, shining brighter than the brightest star in the sky. Slicing it smoothly through the air, Cameron jolted into action and with just one slice, all of the remains of the Goblins were lying on the rocky floor. “I have just one question,” Harry questioned. “Where did the sword come from?” The grand gates opened for them as they entered the wondrous phenomenon of a palace. Arms open wide, The Rose Queen greeted her old friends with a glittering smile. “You simply won‟t believe what just happened to us!” Emily told the queen the whole, unbelievable story, only stopping to draw breath. There was a twinkle in the Rose Queen‟s eye. “So it did come, that sword that I sent you?” she grinned. “It was you!” the others chorused, surprised, they could not believe their ears. “Josh!” Jasmine cried. Josh was mopping tears from his eyes, repeating the word, “sorry,” over and over again. “I just wanted a change, to see the Rose Queen again. I‟m so, so glad that you found me here, I thought you‟d guess. I‟m sorry!” he spluttered. “Let‟s get you home then,” said Emily. “We have to get you safe before you can cause any other mischief.” Laura
  • 15. The Skipping Stone She was no ghost, she was no monster, she was my sister and nothing could stop that. The day she left was the day of Christmas Eve when the water was frosted and as hard as rock .Well that‟s what we thought. “Do you think I can skip this stone across the ice? “ I asked curiously. “I don‟t know don‟t ask me!” my sister replied, “don‟t do it anyway that stone is shaped like a heart we could give it to Mum” I ignored my little sister and I threw it across the ice covered river and it slid across to the other side. Stupidly my sister ran on to the frosted river without hesitation but on the 9th step about half way she fell straight through. Silence. I froze, I panicked, and I ran. I ran home to mum and grabbed her with little explanation, we both ran to the grate river but all there was to see was the hole my beloved little sister had fallen through a short time before. As soon as my mum saw the hole in the ice she cried relentless tears, she had only lost Dad one year ago. That day when we went home Mum was very depressed. She was grieving for so long, we wouldn‟t even talk for days on end. There was a hole in the ice and also in my heart. Days, weeks, months and years went by and every second I regretted throwing the stone. 3 years passed and I went back to the place my sister had died. I sat and stared at the river passing by. The waves were like a hand waving goodbye; if only I had helped she could have been here with me now. As I stared I was lost in my own thoughts thinking of my sister. I noticed a girl at the bottom of the river. She looked as if she was coming closer, she put her hand out beckoned me to come in to the river. I went closer then closer then closer. She walked on the bottom of the river and then lifelessly she stepped out and held my hand and only at that moment I realised it was my little sister. I can not describe the feelings that went through me in the short moments of my sister‟s arrival. Her hand was cold but surprisingly not the slightest bit wet. She tugged on my coat; I knew what she wanted. She didn‟t want to be alone in the cold she wanted me to join her in her the river. We stepped closer towards the water and waves, before I knew it my shoes were fully in the water. I stopped walking but my sister didn‟t, she started to pull me in so I tried to get away but she was to strong. How she was stronger then me I do not know but this did not matter all I wanted was to stay alive. Eventually I gave in and the water covered by whole body but whilst I was in the water I thought of seeing Dad again in Heaven and in peace. Lewis
  • 16. The Nun Star I had always wanted to be a pop star since I was very young but when I was finally old enough my monster of a mother sent me to a monastery. Where I learnt about god and how to be a good nun. It was kind of like moving house at first but now its life or death. I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life there…but that‟s when we found the seven chairs. One very peculiar night at supper time Gladice (the leader of our monastery and the oldest of us) called all of us nuns to a meeting in the grand hall. “My faithful nuns, I am holding this meeting as we have had six of our friends escaped our lovely monastery on six of the seven chairs from round the circle table last night-what should we do about it?” she announced angrily. As she was talking I slipped away to the circle table where I carefully lowered myself onto the last of the seven chairs it felt special as I knew I was close to freedom. The holy wooden chair lifted up off the ground and flew over to the window as quick as an athlete running a race at the Olympics and then out of it. Realising that there were two guards on duty I started shouting at the chair to hurry up and of course it did so. This was great I was the boss of a chair I could tell it to go where ever I wanted; I was having the time of my life! Until one day whilst I was passing over a town square where there was a HUGE television screen which had seven little pictures of nuns sat on chairs soaring through the air it was only then that I realised it was me they were after me. I knew I had to get away, out of this country. As far as I could go. I had been on my travels for about two days and I bet I‟d been over at least one hundred countries. Finally I got a bit sick of all that flying and decide to have a stop in the USA (this was the only country I knew as it was my favourite). Wandering around I spotted a sign that said Los Angeles on it and I began jump up and down, how embarrassing, but for not one moment did I remember that those guards were looking for me. Amongst all my excitement I ran into the nearest shop and changed into some real clothes, without paying. That was a bit of a relief as I was dieing of heat in my black and white cloak. By now I knew I wanted to live there forever and ever but even I knew I had to make money to live so I figured the only way I could was my voice so I decided to go busking on the streets everyday until I fell lucky when a man who turns people into amazing celebrities walked by. But what I didn‟t know was he was a fake he was one of the guards that had been following us. The guard stood with me for a few hours, begging me to go with him back to the monastery till a man that really does turn people into pop stars came past he looked amazing he had glasses shaped like stars and really really long hair, he asked me to join him and be a pop star but no I was a nun and that‟s what ill always be. “That was always your dream I‟ve heard you singing in the monastery your voice was amazing,” the guard said to me. “Ok I‟ll join you,” I finally sighed. My heart began to beat like a stampede of elephants, I was starting a career. Nobody ever found the missing nuns, but all we know is that the fifth chair landed in France. I live an amazing life now just like a normal person I live in my own house without any of those silly old nuns. But the best thing is I succeeded my dream I‟m a nun star! Matilda
  • 17. Missing in Venice George lives at 24 Annual street in York. He is a fairly short, decently sized boy who loves anything that moves! However he won‟t be seeing his house for a while. The reason: he‟s going on a 5 month long trip on a cruise round the world. It will travel from Southampton and will be on the once biggest ship in the world: the Queen Mary. One week lateron the first day of the amazing cruiseGeorge saw the ship for the first time and if you yourselfhave seenQueen Maryyou will know she is a beauty. She is the same make as the famousship Titanic. Boarding was fairly easy they just had to show the captain their passports. Eventually they set off on what was meant to be a trip of a lifetime and it was: for a while… The sea splashed gently against the side of the ship and before long they were in the Mediterranean and then into the small forgotten Adriatic sea which links the east coast of Italy with the former Yugoslav republic (broken by a war) or Croatia. The first stop was Venice but just as they arrived the ship gave a nasty jolt and suddenly changed direction heading towards a canal. Although no one knew at the time there was a portal on that canal that was dragging the ship in. Even with her mighty engines in reverse Queen Mary was dragged further and further into the canal. Buildings crumbled and people ran, screaming, around the canal as the mighty ship uncontrollably crashed down through Venice. As the ship approached the centre of the city a small half-oval bridge came into view. Little did anyone know that the bridge was actually a power, the power that was pulling the mighty ship to its doom. However, when Queen Mary hit the bridge the mighty weight of her shattered it, stopping the ship being pulled further into the canal. It wasn‟t over yet though, the breaking of the bridge caused a shockwave and buildings started falling into the canal. The ship had to quickly reverse out. Luckily they just made it out of the canal before the whole of Venice collapsed into the water covering the bridge for ever. George and his family went strait home from a near by port called Ligniano (also a lovely town on the Italian coast on the Adriatic Sea) from there they flew to Newcastle and then they got a train back to York. They never went on a ship again (well not near Venice anyway.) George never ever changed his view for how beautiful Queen Mary was though. *Queen Mary is a real ship and she really is massive but beautiful and is the same make as the Titanic. She know longer sails on the sea but is now a floating hotel! Still in the same condition as when she was sailing. Some ship enthusiasts are planning to try and get her moving again. Nathan S

All the horrors that you can imagine are moulded into one body that comes out of the hatred lamp, I didn‟t know this when I was a little boy but it was that lamp that killed my grandma, the person that I loved the most…why? That day, I rushed to the hospital to see my ill grandma but when I got to her bedside the nurse said that it was too late, that she was going to die today. I promised that I would stay with her until then but she must have known that it wasn‟t going to be long so she asked me to put her favourite music on ( the one that sounds like it should be in a horror movie ). Then she said something that I will never forget. “I will be watching you, even when you think that I‟m not, I will be, please don‟t turn it on it will put you in g-ggggrave d-dd…..” they were her last words, she couldn‟t finish her sentence. Why didn‟t I get there sooner? Why? Ten years later I‟d just got home from work and I‟d had a day from hell, today was the ten year anniversary from when my grandma died. I can‟t believe that 10 years ago today. So I turned on her favourite music the one that sounds like it should be in a horror movie. I‟m still regretting not getting to the hospital earlier to make sure grandma could have finished her sentence. What could she have been saying, that it was the lamp, my lamp that is in my bedroom right now, killed her? The lamp that I loved, killed the person that I love. oh my god my lamp killed my grandma, but how ? Instead of thinking up all of these possible ideas of what could have happened to grandma I‟ve just decided to turn on the lamp and see what happens. I start walking toward the lamp wondering what is going to happen. Then scared of what was going to happen, I reached out to the lamp and plugged it in but, just before I could the switch the it on I heard a voice calling me, warning me. I didn‟t know if the voice was inside my head, but strangely it sounded a lot like grandma but I just tried to ignore it but it kept saying “Don‟t, you will regret it”. I flicked the switch the on lamp and it flashed like a torch. Abruptly, all the lights in the house suddenly switched off not working at all. Other that one. The lamp that killed grandma. It was a bright as a star. I tried to run away but some thing had crawled out of the lamp and had grabbed hold of my leg, I tried to shake it off, but it wouldn‟t budge. So I had to take extreme measures, I grabbed the chair and started to hit the thing until it fell off then I stabbed it until it stopped moving. It was dead. Yes!! Now I have realised what she was saying, well what she was about to say “grave danger”. My name is Luca and this is my story, I have lived in darkness since this day, why did I turn the lamp on? Why? Twice the night before Christmas, she was reading her best horror book all unusual things came out of it the book the vines were sprouting out at me… She didn‟t know what to do spiky; and prickly the vines came; abruptly she drifted off the sleep in a blink of an eye. Staring around she noticed she was in magical dream the jungle was extremely pretty. It was full of all different shades of green, but she noticed that she was alone she hear a gigantic ROAR! She dared not to look. Slowly she started to tremble than she ran petrified she started to sprint she didn‟t know what to do. She started to running and running and running until she stopped and she looked around. Abruptly, she noticed that something was behind her she slowly she tuned her petrifying face she started to run and run and run it was a massive lion she climbed a gigantic tree. The lion was below her feet, she did come down for a long time. Finally the giant lion was gone she came down from the tree. Then she noticed that she needed to find food and water and shelter, she started to look for food and water she built a shelter. She found so fruit and water from the fresh steam, and then she ran back to her shelter in the tree. She ate her food slowly because it was delectable, she finished her food. Slowly she woke up from her FANTASTIC! Dream she noticed that her best horror book was gone. She looked inside and outside but she couldn‟t find her book but it was not in her room the window was open. It all leaned a mystery she didn‟t know where or when it happens she could not remember anything it was still the night before Christmas. Reanna

Queen Mary II lay on top of the vast sea; she was white at the top and then black at the bottom. The sky was grey and cloudy and was starting to drizzle. Co-Captain Jones was very excited for today; it was the first time that he had ever gone on a boat this size before. He grinned to himself. He went up to his deck and plonked his belongings down. Jones, was soon settled in, and happily strolled to the deck where the Captain was! It was now getting very late so the Captain told Jones that he was in charged of driving the boat for the night. “Now make sure you don‟t go near Venice if the weather starts to get stormy!” It was terrible news for Jones; the storm was now blowing so it meant that all of the passengers onboard would not be able to go to Venice. “Oh no!” wept Jones. The ocean was now getting very rough and it was going to be a very bumpy ride. The boat started leaning one way, and then another and then up and then down! (It was like a rollercoaster but even worse.) We were now getting dragged in; where were we going to, did anybody know the answer? Well I know I defiantly would be! We were now being squeezed down a very narrow canal. A bit further down the canal was a bridge and just behind the bridge was a screaming man “Ahhhhhhhhhh! I am going to get killed.” Everybody laughed. The stuck boat was still moving further forwards. It didn‟t look hopeful: we were now going to be wedged there forever and we would never get out! Abruptly they knocked down one building, and then another and then another; from inside the houses came some peoples screams! We felt a boat coming up behind us; the engine was roaring like a lion, now everyone was cheering. They threw us a rope and we attached it to our ship and then they slowly began pulling us out! We were now back in the ocean again: there was still a huge problem though are boat couldn‟t move because the boat was leaking. If we would have been stuck in there any longer then all of us would have drowned. Then another boat came up to the side of us. People were now scattering on to it as fast as they could. It had saved are life and everyone had survived! They all went of on the other ship and so did the entire Captain. This time instead of driving, they were now sat on the boat and being a normal passenger. “Looks like I might have to buy a new boat.” Spoke the Captain and then he winked at Jones. They were now best friends and they were going to buy another boat together. Sasha

He always said that, well that is before he went missing at sea… I miss my Uncle, he used to tell the greatest story‟s. About ghost ships and a skeleton crew. I never really believed him. Well not until the night, the night he returned. He was holding my arm with an extremely firm grip, my arm was really aching now, where was he leading me, where were we going. After a few minutes of painful walking we came to a bridge “Ha” I said “nowhere to go” I was grinning now. “Shut up David” he said with a raised voice, I‟m David by the way a skinny boy with brown hair and brown eyes, That really wiped that cheeky grin of my face. “Where are we going now?” I asked, no reply all he did was swing his lantern three times and slowly a schooner appeared. “Get on” he said sternly, I obeyed but when I got on I got the fright of my life. I was on a ghost ship with a skeleton crew. “Oy captain who on earth is this?” asked one of the shorter skeletons who seemed to have a broken leg. “This jerry is my nephew” replied my uncle Tory. “Can we throw him overboard?” asked a the tallest and scariest of the skeletons. “No Jim we can‟t” he was yelling slightly the skeleton called Jimmy started backing of “lets go…” We‟ve been trekking for hour‟s it‟s like hell trees blocking the light but still being able to feel scorching heat and having to listen to these stupid skeletons singing. “Where are we going?” I said. “To the fountain of youth my future captain” said Jerry. “WHAT!” I yelled. “Shut up Jerry” said my uncle. “Right David I need you to listen to me do you remember when I went missing I went missing because me, Jerry and the rest of the crew found the fountain of youth it mad me immortal but its rubbing of and that my friend is were you come in the ship needs a new captain and you‟re the only one young enough and if you were any older the effects would were of over time and…” He was cut of because one of the skeletons started yelling “we found it the fountain of youth” A few minutes later we came to a gigantic concrete fountain and a shiny gold goblet full of water “Drink” said my uncle so I drank and drank and drank, and from that last gulp I was captain of a ghost ship and a skeleton crew… Thomas

The Diamond Curse “Land Ahoy” shouted eye patch Eddie from the crows nest. “Well what are you waiting for, climb the riggings” exclaimed captain Tory the vast, his crew had just found a treasure map and were on there way to the treasure. There ship was a small old schooner and he had a crew with a heart of a lion. They had just found the Diamond of captain red beard. But because of there greed they got a curse which meant they all turned into skeletons! Apart from the captain who got immortal life…… Legend has it that his great, great, great, great, great grandson wears it around his neck, well the legend is true the only reason that he hasn‟t been affected because it only works once….. 300 years later he came back to find his grandson so, one night a schooner appeared out of no were and all you could see was skeleton pirates drinking beer and scoffing the faces with cheese & bread. Alfie an orphan boy thought he had been bought the diamond by his mother and father he never knew. Never would he believe that it had a curse on it! On the 27th June 2009 Tory his grandfather snook through the window of the ofanage when every one was asleep and picked him up and ran to the sea.Abruttly Alfie woke up and said “you can not take me any further because the sea is there, ha haha” “Are you sure” answered captain Tory. And on that statement he swung his lantern three times and a ship appeared full of skeletons.” Who are you I could call the police” “I‟m you great greatgreatgreatgreat grandfather…” The next morning the pirates woke him up at six am! And they started to collect axes and swords; and before he knew it he getting hit with swords and axes just so they could get the necklace but the diamond had dealt with them before and he still knew they were greedy so the weapons just kept getting smashed. Later that night they got board and went to bed but Alfie had other ideas. He stayed up and through the diamond over board and it slowly drifted to the bottom of the Sea and as it hit the sand a skeleton came out of it with a curly red beard and slowly slowly drifted away….. • 23. Little Angel There was a boy named Archie Smith (boy wonder). He had brown hair like toffee melting in my mouth, like a ghost his skin glowed in the dark. When he was little, (very little three Years old), his mum told him “never trust strangers.” He always wonders why she said that to him… Then one duel dark night he woke up hearing voices saying. “Is he the one… is he the one.” In a whispering voice. He climbed out of his bed slowly like a snail so then the voices wouldn‟t hear him, He grabbed his base ball bat, and hung it up higher than the statue of liberty. He reached for the door … then places his bony back against the wall… turns as quickly as fast as a grey hound in a race, but there was nobody there. He thought to himself where have they gone. But he had been warned! The little voice wanted him for his magic powers. That was when he disappeared… Before that bumpy rough ride, he went though a bright abrupt light. He looked very puzzled and confused a witch appeared out of the blue she gave him a message saying “You have magic powers that will create FIRE!” He froze for a moment a spoke, “Really I have always wanted powers” gasped Archie The generous witch begged him “Please help me defeat the devilish witch” He didn‟t know what to do or to say so he paused and then said “Yes.” He worried about the witch if she had better powers than him. He trained and trained to win the witch. Did he win or did he lose? He defeated the devilish witch with his outstanding power the kind witch thanked him over and over again he was overwhelmed with the kind witch, and he wanted to go home, “but she said you can‟t leave once you‟ve come in!” “Why” he yelled. “NOOOOO, YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME, AFTER ALL WHAT I DID FOR YOU!” he bellowed “Why are you doing this to me, why?” The witch felt very sorry that he couldn‟t leave. So she tried to take him home but her powers just weren‟t good enough to send him home. So she gave up. She whimpered “I‟m so sorry” you just can‟t go home. That‟s why you should never trust strangers. India

  • 26. Pumpkin Girl This is a very spectacular story. But it dose make me quite aggravated. It caused massive problems a couple of years ago. It was a special year because this time every year I make pumpkin pie. This is how it went… Quietly I was all alone, in a dark pitch black lonely room with me and my pumpkin as I was about to make pumpkin pie with my best friend, when abruptly she dispread and I just though (weird). As I was about to get my sharp knife with the pointiest Point ever! I chopped up the pumpkin Until me husband came whizzing round the corner in his posh bran new white range rover he came in and decide to turn Reanna into a pumpkin. Instantly he left and hopefully he won‟t be in sight again! “What are we going to do because there is nothing I can really” sobbed Reanna, “I don‟t have a clue maybe if I give him some aspirin he will be ok I did think that he has been acting weird lately” “I‟ll ring him now to come back for a drink of tea” “Mark is on his way back he said he will leave if it is not ready by the time he gets hear” “Quick get it out ready” Reanna shouted “Mark is hear” Reanna whispered “I‟m here is it ready ho I see it is on the table” “Drink up now don‟t put any time to waste” “I‟ve Finished it ho yeah I forgot to mention why is Reanna a pumpkin?” Mark said. “You did it” Reanna cried “Close you eyes count to 10 then hey presto there we go” “One two three four five “Few I‟m me again” Reanna laughed six seven eight nine ten” Well I‟m overjoyed! “I got to go back to work now” Mark shouted Now things are back to normal and everything has been sorted out between us all and it will never happen again know body new that he could turn people into pumpkins but obviously he can but now he has had aspirin he can never do it again! • 27. Another Place, Another Time “Archie, please don’t go and find your real parents.” The words echoed around my head. I wanted to, I needed to. I couldn‟t live another parent – free moment. For once, I would have to be a bad, bad boy. The moonlight skimmed over the dusky lake, reflections staring back up at me. I shouldn‟t be out, but I wanted to be out. Birds slept in the trees all around me, making me feel safe. A man approached me: stubble faced and was wearing a grubby, naval uniform. “Archie?” I nodded. “Come with me if you want happiness. Also known as, your parents,” the stranger grumbled, his voice just distinctive over the quiet ripples in the water. I followed him to an old cart, the one the locals used to take to the port. It stopped there, or so I thought. Before I had time to grab my shoes off the soggy bank, the cart lurched into action. When the cart reached port, dawn was glistening over the hushed village, birds now cheeping in the sky. I was about to climb out but then something shocked me so much that I started to get back in. The old cart continued, laying out the track over the pale, blue water. Unexpectedly, the cart stopped. I looked around and saw a jaw-dropping, vast castle in front of my eyes. The man shook his head, obviously impatient with me for wasting his time. I climbed out, placing my foot on the solid ice that covered the land. It stung my foot as my mind drifted back to remember that my shoes were on the bank. I could barely move over the ice when the cart went from behind me. Losing balance, I fell into the freezing water. The old man didn‟t even flinch and continued backwards, glaring at me through black eyes. I whole body went numb. Very quickly. I started screaming, though I knew nobody could hear me. “Help!” Water went rushing into my mouth and I had to spit it forcefully out, coughing and spluttering helplessly. Out of the castle, two hideous people came rushing out and hauled me onto the bank, arms first. The woman had a towel and a hot flask. She wrapped me up and placed my mouth gently over the warm drink. It felt like heaven melting in my mouth and into my stomach. They looked at me again, staring rudely. “Archie!” they both cried out, embedding me in a huge hug. It was my real parents! We stood on the bank, hugging, as the wind brushed against our cheeks. “Archie, please don’t go and find your real parents.” The words no longer echoed around my head but they taught me a lesson. My parents may be freaks but they loved me. I lost a lot of things – like my shoes – but found two new things to make up for it. The lake and the birds may not be there to make me happy, but now I have a family and the knowledge that I am loved. And, well, that‟s better than anything I could ever hope for. Lois
