THE PRESENT
PERFECT TENSE
I have been to several
European countries.
Jake has ironed his clothes.
I have been to several
European countries.
TO HAVE
(PRESENT TENSE)
PAST PARTICIPLE
OF THE VERB TO BE
Now let’s take look at this sentence:.
Jake has ironed his clothes.
TO HAVE
(PRESENT TENSE)
PAST PARTICIPLE OF
THE VERB TO IRON
You have been introduced to a new verb tense.
It’s a combination of have or has and the past
participle of the main verb in the sentence. This
new tense is the PRESENT PERFECT tense.
We use the present
perfect tense when we
want to talk about
something that
happened in the past,
without saying exactly
when it happened.
They have been to Disney World.
We also use the present
perfect to talk about an
event that started in the
past and continues in the
present.
Peter has worked at McDonald’s
for two years.
Bob has called his girlfriend.
Bob and Alice have enjoyed New York.
To form the present perfect
tense, we use the verb to
have in the present tense
and the past participle of
the main verb.
What´s the difference between them?
WHEN the actions happened?
I went to the mall last night.
I have gone to the mall. NO ANSWER
In SIMPLE PAST TENSE, when we ask when it
happened, we have an answer.
In PERFECT PERFECT TENSE, when we ask
when it happened, we DON´T have an answer.
Melissa has walked the dog.
John walked the dog
yesterday at night.
Contractions
Examples:
She’s bought her
groceries at Walmart.
They’ve swept
the floor.
Negative sentences
Examples:

the homework
