3. Genre decision.
I have chosen to create a thriller film as
ultimately it is my favourite genre. I felt that
I have enough knowledge and
understanding of what I would want to see
in a thriller so I can reflect this in my
film, targeting my audience effectively, as I
am part of the age bracket.
As part of market research I did a number
of surveys and focus groups which helped
me decide what genre to chose and exactly
what the audience want.
5. Initial ideas.
Film is based on a teenage girl who is quiet and
struggles to communicate with others. She
convinces herself she is being ‘watched’ by someone
or something this drives her to insanity but who really
is watching her? She tries to warn her peers and
teachers but she is just laughed at. She finds herself
with the obsession of drawing eyes, particularly the
eye in a triangle which as you may know is ‘The Eye
of Providence’ a known conspiracy theory. It comes
out that the government have been controlling
people using the internet, feeding them ‘unknown’
information, particularly to teenagers.
The narrative enigma will incorporate what the
audience will want to find out in the film. What is the
unknown information? Can she stop them? Will she
help her peers?
6. Protagonist.
NAME: Christina
AGE: 16
INITIAL BACKGROUND:
quiet shy, not many
friends, keeps herself to
herself, no intimate connection
with anyone. Always indulged
in the cyber world.
7. Marketing campaign.
I am going to use various media
platforms to promote my film. I am going
to focus on using Social networking sites
like Twitter and Facebook to drum up a
buzz for the film.
Using above the line marketing methods
will reach a mass audience very easily.
Social networking sites will target my
teen audience easily, as these sites are
very poplar to this particular audience.
8. Promotion in production.
Over the course of the production of my
film I will release small ‘teasers’ to make
the film aware to the audience. Whether
this be a picture at the beginning then a
sneak peak video towards the release
date.
The campaign will feature a poster of the
main character. This is similar to the
‘Orphan’ Trailer, it doesn’t give away too
much narrative but enough about the
protagonist herself.
