A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

My name is Eryn and I am the Parent Relations officer here at YCIS Beijing
-As the Parent Relations Officer my role is to assist parents concerns/ issues/ and feedback concerning any non-academic issues. I act as a liaison between parents and school.
-As in any school, Parent communication is a very important aspect of a healthy relationship between family and school. So much that YCIS does employ a full time Parent Relations Officer, me!
-So if you are organizing any events or such involving parents please pass that information to me,
-Here at YCIS we have 5 ways for parents and school to communicate.
Direct communication with teachers
Communication with coordinators and Co-principals
For non-academic concerns please contact me the Parent Relations Officer
Communication during our regular Parent-Teacher interview
Finally through academic information session
These are the many opportunities parents have for communicating with the school, and we encourage open dialogue between parents and school.
-Throughout the year we will be having seminars, workshops, art classes, monthly lunch meetings, shopping trips etc.
-One of the more fun aspects of my job is creating a “caring campus”. This means throughout the year I will be helping to organize events and activities for parents to get involved and provide an opportunity for you to meet other parents as well as coordinating interesting parenting workshops throughout the year so we can continually educate ourselves.
-Please feel free to give me any suggestions you may have for such activities.
-You will find a calendar of parent events for the 2011-2012 school year in the Parent Room.
Some ways to get involved with the School is to join the voluntary Parent Organisation.
-The parent organisation meets once a month to discuss ideas and organize activities to help create a better overall school experience for the children as well as parents.
-The PO does this by getting involved with events to help build community and school spirit, as well as raising money for charity organizations.
Some of the other events and activities the PO gets involved in are
Parent luncheons
Christmas Wish Tree Project
Bake sales
Global Community Day
Teacher appreciation lunch
And many many more events
There are several ways we get information out to Parents for upcoming events and other school news.
- We will email all upcoming parent events, and these information will also be posted on the school parent Webpage
-Also when you are on campus come check out the Parent Room notice boards with the most up to date information on workshops, events, and activities for parents.
-I hope to see you at the upcoming events and please do not hesitate to ask me any questions or comments you may have following the orientation
-My office in in Building A in the admissions office.
-You can find my contact details in the parent handbook as well as on the bottom of all flyers and emails sent out to parents.
