Read and reflect on the case study below and prepare a response paper of not less than five pages (excluding title and reference pages) with appropriate in text citations. Demonstrate your research and analytical skills in developing your comprehensive paper by using the organizations website and outside articles written about the organization to supplement the information provided in the case study. However, the case study is unique in that it is focused on the HR ramifications and most of the outside reports you will locate articulate the business side of the merger or expansion possibilities. Tailor your paper to the HR ramifications of the merger and expansion.
Keep in mind that the purpose of this final assessment is for you to demonstrate your knowledge of the strategic and administrative function of Human Resources. While the business side of the situation is the foundation, it is the command of the needed tasks and role for the Human Resource function that you are to focus most of your attention.
Key Components
The key components of the paper are as follows:
1. Title page
2. Introduction in which you restate the issue(s) and state the purpose of the paper
3. SWOT analysis from the HR perspective
4. Recommendations to address the issues. Scholarly research is expected to support the recommendations.
Examples of issues that may want to be elaborated upon may be possible redundant positions, maintaining the culture of both organizations (or not), combining compensation and benefits plans and union involvement (just to name some).
5. There are many tasks for recruiting and hiring for the expansion (in various global locations). Think about and list what those tasks are.

As far as the article is concerned, diversity offers an individual or an organization a broad range of talents, and these talents do not belong to any form of ethnicity within the organization. Instead, the broad range of talents mainly emanates from various sources, and the people also have an opportunity of practicing their various styles and leadership prowess. Diversity in the workplace also means the increased and improved performance of an organization due to the aspect of bringing together various minds of the people. However, despite diversity being a key and important thing for a firm, it must be realigned with the goals of the firm so that it may be successful and have a meaning to the firm. Summary Twenty-five years after passage of the Civil Rights Act, the full integration of racial
minorities in the Unites States workforce has still not been achieved. Recent demographic
trends indicating that the workforce will be increasingly composed of racial minorities
make this a critical issue for academics and practitioners alike. This paper reports
on a review of journal research addressing issues of race in organizations. Articles
published in twenty major outlets for organization behavior research between 1964
and 1989 were reviewed. Data on the quantity, types and topics of published work
are presented. Results indicate that the amount of total published research is small
relative to the importance of the topic, that the recent trend is for less rather than
more research, that the designs and research questions have been very narrow, and
that the topics covered are not representative of the domain of organization behavior.
Based upon the findings, some suggestions for future research are offered.
Introduction
Twenty-five years have passed since the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This legislation
contributed to significant changes in the composition of the workforce and provided a major
impetus for academic researchers in management and related fields to study racial issues in
the workplace. Moreover, demographic trends indicate that the United States workforce will
be increasingly racially diverse in the years ahead (Nussbaum, 1988; Fullerton, 1987). By the
year 2000 the overall United States population will change such that one of every three Americans
will be non-white (Hodgkinson, 1985). The Workforce 2000 report identifies full integration
of minorities into the workforce as one of the six greatest challenges facing American managers
in the coming decade (Johnston and Packer, 1987).
Despite these trends, it is not clear that research related to understanding the impact of
racial heterogeneity on organizations has been forthcoming. A few writers have published partial

But both in research and organizations, there are those who challenge the “effective leadership = enhanced performance” supposition (Dihn, Lord, Gardner, Meuser, Liden, & Hu, 2014; Storey, 2010).
LePine, Zhang, Crawford, and Rich (2016) conducted a three-part study to test relationships among charismatic leadership, stress, and performance. Subjects were members of the United States Marine Corps. Findings suggested that charismatic leader behavior negated the negative effects of stressors on performance according to assessments by the leaders or their supervisors. And these authors found that high-level stressors were more positively viewed when charismatic leader behaviors were exhibited. However, the researchers discovered that charismatic leader behavior did not influence how Marines perceived stressors. An underlying assumption in LePine, Zhang, Crawford, and Rich’s (2016) research was that leaders do affect performance. The results, while not conclusive enough to reject the assumption, did open avenues for new dialogue and recommendations for further testing.
Dihn, Lord, Gardner, Meuser, Liden, and Hu (2014) suggested that the preponderance of research on leadership behaviors and traits may have led to assumptions about an overstated influence of the individual. In Module 1 we examined the evolution of leadership approaches from the early modern era to the postmodern era. We know that context—such as environment, capital, and goals—influences organizational design, structure, and management/leadership practices. We learned that a stable organization relies on controls to gain efficiency. Leader-centric thinking was readily accepted in the modern organization. And, research studies were designed around those assumptions, perhaps even reinforcing those assumptions.

Summary Twenty-five years after passage of the Civil Rights Act, the full integration of racial
minorities in the Unites States workforce has still not been achieved. Recent demographic
trends indicating that the workforce will be increasingly composed of racial minorities
make this a critical issue for academics and practitioners alike. This paper reports
on a review of journal research addressing issues of race in organizations. Articles
published in twenty major outlets for organization behavior research between 1964
and 1989 were reviewed. Data on the quantity, types and topics of published work
are presented. Results indicate that the amount of total published research is small
relative to the importance of the topic, that the recent trend is for less rather than
more research, that the designs and research questions have been very narrow, and
that the topics covered are not representative of the domain of organization behavior.
Based upon the findings, some suggestions for future research are offered.
Introduction
Twenty-five years have passed since the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This legislation
contributed to significant changes in the composition of the workforce and provided a major
impetus for academic researchers in management and related fields to study racial issues in
the workplace. Moreover, demographic trends indicate that the United States workforce will
be increasingly racially diverse in the years ahead (Nussbaum, 1988; Fullerton, 1987). By the
year 2000 the overall United States population will change such that one of every three Americans
will be non-white (Hodgkinson, 1985). The Workforce 2000 report identifies full integration
of minorities into the workforce as one of the six greatest challenges facing American managers
in the coming decade (Johnston and Packer, 1987).
Despite these trends, it is not clear that research related to understanding the impact of
racial heterogeneity on organizations has been forthcoming. A few writers have published partial

Scores of research studies are built on the assumption that effective leadership is a key component essential for organizational success. From the battlefield to the boardroom, we are told, wins and losses are determined by decisions and behaviors of those who lead. The plethora of leadership-training programs may be an indicator that many perceive (or even assume) that there is a direct relationship between leaders and organization performance. In The Leadership Gap: Building Capacity for Competitive Advantage, Weiss and Molinaro (2005) established their premise by stating “leadership has become the primary source of competitive advantage in organizations around the world” (p. 4). These authors used case-study methods to reinforce the ideas that organizations’ lack of leadership capacity can be addressed through leadership development.
But both in research and organizations, there are those who challenge the “effective leadership = enhanced performance” supposition (Dihn, Lord, Gardner, Meuser, Liden, & Hu, 2014; Storey, 2010).
LePine, Zhang, Crawford, and Rich (2016) conducted a three-part study to test relationships among charismatic leadership, stress, and performance. Subjects were members of the United States Marine Corps. Findings suggested that charismatic leader behavior negated the negative effects of stressors on performance according to assessments by the leaders or their supervisors. And these authors found that high-level stressors were more positively viewed when charismatic leader behaviors were exhibited. However, the researchers discovered that charismatic leader behavior did not influence how Marines perceived stressors. An underlying assumption in LePine, Zhang, Crawford, and Rich’s (2016) research was that leaders do affect performance. The results, while not conclusive enough to reject the assumption, did open avenues for new dialogue and recommendations for further testing.
Dihn, Lord, Gardner, Meuser, Liden, and Hu (2014) suggested that the preponderance of research on leadership behaviors and traits may have led to assumptions about an overstated influence of the individual. In Module 1 we examined the evolution of leadership approaches from the early modern era to the postmodern era. We know that context—such as environment, capital, and goals—influences organizational design, structure, and management/leadership practices. We learned that a stable organization relies on controls to gain efficiency. Leader-centric thinking was readily accepted in the modern organization. And, research studies were designed around those assumptions, perhaps even reinforcing those assumptions.

Foreign Currency Translation
Our foreign investments and foreign subsidiaries generally report their earnings in their local currencies. We translate our share of their foreign assets and liabilities at exchange rates in effect at the balance sheet dates. We translate our share of their revenues and expenses using average rates during the year. The resulting foreign currency translation adjustments are recorded as a separate component of accumulated other comprehensive income in the accompanying consolidated balance sheets. Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing.
