MUSIC FESTIVALS: A CHANGING WORLD. An international comparative research
The presentation in Lille (France) of a research coordinated by Emmanuel Négrier, Michel Guerin and Lluís Bonet on Music Festivals. This result book is published in both English and French by Michel de Maule (Paris 2013). This work presents the first study undertaken using a single, unique method on a sample of 390 music festival (from 15 different countries). They represent a wide variety of genres, musical styles, scope and seasonal programmes. All major aspects are explored, from the purpose of the festivals to human resources and business models adopted.
The first part reviews this analytical journey through the world of festivals. The second part contains several chapters on different countries festival landscapes, enabling the impact of the cultural, economic and political setting in which these events are created and developed to be measured. Whereas artists themselves have long since gone beyond national borders, this twofold international comparison allows the differences between country-specific models to be transcended

But the huge infrastructural and resource demands of tourism (e.g. water consumption, waste generation and energy use) can have severe impacts upon local communities and the environment if it is not properly managed. The spirit of India resides in her villages and those living in cities and towns have their roots in rural life, which has pastoral beauty and touching simplicity, offer fresh comforting breezes and lavish openness. Tourism growth potential can be bind as a strategy for Rural Development in specific and rural tourism in general which definitely useful for a country like India, where almost 74 per cent of the population resides in rural areas. The tourism sector provides employment to about 50 million people. Even a modest 10 per cent growth in tourism sector would generate 5 million jobs every year and major beneficiary are weaker sections of society women and rural artisans. Rural tourism stands for showcasing the ethnic arts, crafts, culture and lifestyle in its traditional approach. The present study was conducted with an objective to identify the various forms of rural tourism, role of government and private sector in enhancing the efficient tourism prerequisite, to study the problems in rural tourism and to construct the suggestions and recommendations for rural tourism. The present study is based on the secondary data published in various journals, articles, books and others sources of information The study reveals that endorsement of village tourism is a competent device for socio-economic benefits to rural people. It is a multi-sectoral activity and the industry is affected by many other sectors of the nation’s economy. Therefore, government and private sectors should ensure healthier linkages and coordination. It also has to play a pivotal role in tourism management and promotion. Further, the study also discloses that rural tourism has the potential to increase public appreciation of the environment and to spread awareness of environmental problems when it brings people into closer contact with nature and the environment. This confrontation may heighten awareness of the value of nature and lead to environmentally conscious behaviour and activities to preserve the environment.

Benefits of the development of rural tourism can become real if there is visible involvement and close cooperation between both – service providers and local authorities.During the 2023 Union Budget, it was announced that a series of measures will be taken up to facilitate and develop tourism in India. Diversifying the basket of rural tourism offerings, in Union Budget 2023, under the scheme of Vibrant Villages Programme, tourism infrastructure and amenities will be facilitated in border villages. PMVIKAS has been conceptualised for encouraging traditional arts and handicrafts. Airports, unity malls and special schemes will be implemented throughout the year, with a focus on improving domestic travel.

explains festivals, presentation, management are then presented and explained systematically to deepen or
interpret data specifically in order to answer all research questions. This research method uses a qualitative
descriptive method, namely by collecting it through interviews and then explaining and interpreting it. Data
collection techniques were carried out by field observations, Participatory Observations, interviews and
documentation. The results of the study show that the Berhala Island Cultural Festival takes the concept of
nature of culture. This concept can be seen from the selection of the type of performances displayed as well as
the stage and artistic design. In the maritime culture festival on Berhala Island, several performances are
presented, including rituals of dzikirlaut, releasing turtles, art performances, pencaksilat attractions, and fashion
show.

This research aims to examine the da'wah (The word da’wah, rooted from Arabic language, means calling out or inviting to Islam/ Preaching of Islam) strategy in strengthening the local people's economy in Bira Village, Bulukumba Regency, Indonesia. The research focus covers the people’s economic sector development such as; weavers, souvenirs and the values spread through da’wah in strengthening the local people’s economy. The research approach is qualitative using case study method. The techniques of data collection were observation, interviews, and analysis of secondary data and related documents. The collected data were analyzed by conducting several stages such as data display, data reduction, data interpretation and conclusion based on selected themes. The research result shows that women (wives) are the people who take responsibility of the family economy after their husbands’ death. Their economic sector includes sarong weaving and souvenirs making. The values of da'wah in strengthening the people's economy are conveyed through their good deeds and sincerity at work, strengthening work ethic, honesty, trust, and responsibility in work. Thus, these positive work ethics support the women in making woven sarongs as part of their local culture and business identity.

advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and

- 2. INTRODUCTION Festivals are very important in the history of human being. It gives peace and breaks the monotony of the people. In India there are numerous festivals: regional, seasonal or religious.
- 3. INTRODUCTION In recent years, festivals are using for promoting the tourism and boosting the economy. This time-limited event encourages visitors to visit the place and interact with the local community, ambience, customs and local culture.
- 4. CULTURAL TOURISM IN INDIA The Indians celebrate the various fairs and festivals. The rituals followed by the Indians, the enthusiasm and faith add the charm to the fairs and festivals.
- 5. OCCUPATION - EDUCATION Occupation – All types of workers, businessman participate in the festival. Doctors, Engineers participate in the celebration of Ganesh Festival. Education – The most of visitors are having education with higher secondary school. Higher percentage participating in the festival is youngsters taking their graduation.
- 6. ROLE OF FESTIVALS IN ATTRACTING TOURIST Festival contributes economically to the city. To local businesses, festivals can be considered as a market for services. An example: the provision of music and artistic expression provide an excellent setting for the introduction of new kinds of services to customers.
- 7. ROLE OF FESTIVALS IN ATTRACTING TOURIST As a consequence, festivals include a variety of offers. However, the variety of offers tends to draw consumers with many different lifestyles and shifting preferences, which can lead to new services or good to offer to the festival participants.

ROLE OF FESTIVALS IN ATTRACTING TOURIST Festivals based on specific themes are often characterized as follows: 1.they often engage voluntary workforce at low or no labor cost, 2.they can develop from being local to becoming regional, national, international and global, 3.they include both non-profit and profit business, 4.they are open air events.

College students also help them for the safety and security of visitors.
- 10. MEDIA-EVENT Festivals attract journalists and other opinion leaders. For these audiences, festivals are a ‘media- event’, generating an opportunity for a magazine or a news story. Such stories may be different from the destination’s typical media frame – i.e. the way in which it’s regularly covered in the news media.
- 11. CULTURE AND TRADITIONS Traditions of Pune are receiving the international interest. This enhances the residents’ pride and promotes the preservation and cultivation of the local culture. Thus this festival helps in promoting and preserving the traditions and culture of Maharashtra.
- 12. CONCLUSION The tourists and visitors spend money within the community, enhance the local economy and supporting restaurants, hotels and other tourism- related businesses.
