Carbon emissions from electric power generation are skyrocketing, including and especially in countries that have received praise for their support of renewable energy.
Meanwhile, countries with very low carbon emissions from power generation are generally ignored in policy circles and in the media. But, as energy and environment expert Steve Aplin demonstrates, these low-carbon countries have achieved spectacular environmental success without hurting their economies.
Aplin argues that these low-carbon countries should be the model for all developing countries that are expanding their power generation infrastructure.

Tools like CenterBridge are sufficiently different from our old forecasting spreadsheets to prompt more than a few changes in our processes. No longer forced to be as linear as we used to be, we can solve problems in more holistic ways, sometimes from multiple angles. All of this adds up to analytical capability that can make the executive team impressed with Workforce Management, but are there implications for existing staff members? This presentation describes the experience of an early CenterBridge user as she implemented the software, and as she checked in with each user ten years later.
Social Media - a Technological or a Societal Change? (2010)Erwin Elling
An introduction to social media, meant to get the focus off of tools and technology. Giving some examples of earlier technology introductions and their effect on society, we think about the changes Social Media bring. We show how the internet has evolved, clarify this with several examples and show the incredible pace of these changes in some videos. All with a little help of Bob Dylan.
Here is the presentation on Impact of media on Indian Society. It is small because I was limited to use 8 slides, it is actually a College assignment of mine, carefully chosen points and need an active presenter to present them all effectively...:)

"Understanding the Carbon Cycle: Processes, Human Impacts, and Strategies for...MMariSelvam4
The carbon cycle is a critical component of Earth's environmental system, governing the movement and transformation of carbon through various reservoirs, including the atmosphere, oceans, soil, and living organisms. This complex cycle involves several key processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, decomposition, and carbon sequestration, each contributing to the regulation of carbon levels on the planet.
Human activities, particularly fossil fuel combustion and deforestation, have significantly altered the natural carbon cycle, leading to increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and driving climate change. Understanding the intricacies of the carbon cycle is essential for assessing the impacts of these changes and developing effective mitigation strategies.
By studying the carbon cycle, scientists can identify carbon sources and sinks, measure carbon fluxes, and predict future trends. This knowledge is crucial for crafting policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, enhancing carbon storage, and promoting sustainable practices. The carbon cycle's interplay with climate systems, ecosystems, and human activities underscores its importance in maintaining a stable and healthy planet.
In-depth exploration of the carbon cycle reveals the delicate balance required to sustain life and the urgent need to address anthropogenic influences. Through research, education, and policy, we can work towards restoring equilibrium in the carbon cycle and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.

UNDERSTANDING WHAT GREEN WASHING IS!.pdfJulietMogola
Many companies today use green washing to lure the public into thinking they are conserving the environment but in real sense they are doing more harm. There have been such several cases from very big companies here in Kenya and also globally. This ranges from various sectors from manufacturing and goes to consumer products. Educating people on greenwashing will enable people to make better choices based on their analysis and not on what they see on marketing sites.
Characterization and the Kinetics of drying at the drying oven and with micro...Open Access Research Paper
The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.

While climate change is a natural phenomenon, human activities, particularly since the Industrial Revolution, have accelerated its pace and intensity
2. How Technology Impacts our
Environment
Production of Electronics:
• Habitat loss due to clearing of land to access
resources.
• Emissions from equipment used during extraction
of raw materials, production of the electronics and
the transportation of the electronics.
• Untreated waste water discharge from plants
producing electronics.
3. How Technology Impacts our
Environment
Use of Electronics:
• Energy use required of the product
• By products of the product
4. How Technology Impacts our
Environment
E- Waste:
• Illegal export of electronic waste to under
developed countries such as Ghana and parts of
China.
• Plastics in electronics are burned off to reveal
precious metals. The smoke from the plastic is
harmful to humans and the environment.
• Runoff from electronic waste lands contaminate
water sources.
5. Aspects of Technology
Impacting the Environment
Metals:
• The extraction of metals is harmful to the
environment as the raw materials are often
located deep under an untouched piece of
nature rich in wild life. The extraction process is
often harmful as machinery is in and out of the site
as well as the mining operations themselves.
6. Aspects of Technology
Impacting the Environment
Metals:
• Many metals used in electronics such as lead, iron,
nickel, zinc, cadmium and many are toxic to
human health as well as the environment.
• Batteries contain lead, nickel, cadmium and
mercury. People tend o through out batteries in
their normal garbage and they contaminate
landfills with their heavy metals.
7. Aspects of Technology
Impacting the Environment
Plastic:
• The production of plastics require the extraction of
oil. The extraction of oil disrupts species of the
environment by the extraction process and the
moving of machinery.
• Tailings ponds at certain oil refineries cause
migratory birds to become ill as the birds land in
them not knowing that harmful contaminants are
in the ponds.
8. Responsibility for the Impacts
on the Environment
Government Responsibility:
Currently there are very few regulations or laws in
place to aid in the issue of electronic waste while
there are laws pertaining to waste and the
environment. This makes it difficult for North
Americans to get rid of cheaply. This is why electronic
waste is sent over seas where environmental policies
are more relaxed.
9. Responsibility for the Impacts
on the Environment
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is an organization
that helps make people aware of electronic waste scams and to
make sure that electronic waste is dealt with properly.
10. Responsibility for the Impacts
on the Environment
Manufacturer Responsibility:
• Many manufacturing companies will not take
responsibility for the impact of their product once
it is out of their hands as for the cost and effort
required to retrieve the items.
• Although many manufacturers do not take
responsibility for their products after the sale, there
are some companies willing to take rseponsibility
such as Samsung.
11. Responsibility for the Impacts
on the Environment
Manufacturer Responsibility:
Samsung takes responsibility of their products after
the sale by providing locations to drop off out of
commission products. Samsung then properly
recycles what is collected and uses the raw materials
in their products.
12. Responsibility for the Impacts
on the Environment
Consumer Responsibility:
• When it comes down to it, it is the consumer who
has the overall choice to buy from an
environmentally responsible company such as
Samsung or any other company portraying
environmental awareness.
13. What Can Be Done to Lessen
the Impacts of Electronics to
the Environment
Awareness and Education:
It is important to make more people aware of how
their electronics impact the environment, by
understanding here the raw materials for the
product are retrieved, how the product is
manufactured and what happens to the product
after it is disposed of.
14. What Can Be Done to Lessen the
Impacts of Electronics to the
Environment
Personal Choices:
Make personal choices to buy from environmentally
aware companies and make sure your electronic
waste is being recycled properly instead of being
pawned off on another country to suffer from the
impacts.
