The Hopi tribe lived in northeastern Arizona, where they built multi-story adobe houses. They grew corn, beans, squash, and cotton for food and also hunted deer, antelope, and turkeys. Men were in charge of politics, agriculture, and war while women managed the family. Children hunted with their fathers. The Hopi played stickball and had Kachina dolls for fun. Ancestor spirits called Kachinas were central to their religious worship. They used horses to hunt and travel. Some Hopi lived where the ancient Anasazi people once lived and were led by them.
