Millard Fillmore was the 13th President of the United States, serving from 1850 to 1853. He was born in New York in 1800 and died in 1874. Fillmore had no formal education but became a lawyer and was a member of the Whig party, serving as vice president under Zachary Taylor before becoming president. He and his wife Abigail started the first permanent library in the White House, amassing a personal collection of over 4,000 books.
