The Gulf War was a U.N authorized coalition force led by the U.S. against Iraq in 1990-1991 after Iraq invaded Kuwait. Iraq was deeply in debt to Kuwait after the costly Iran-Iraq War and invaded Kuwait on August 2nd, 1990 after Kuwait refused to cancel Iraq's debts. The U.S.-led coalition included forces from 34 countries which launched a massive air and ground assault driving Iraqi forces out of Kuwait and imposing a ceasefire. The war had both immediate impacts like destabilizing Iraq's economy and long term effects such as major environmental damage and health issues for veterans.

The war in Yemen has created another humanitarian catastrophe, wrecking a country that was already the poorest in the Arab world. With millions of people now on the brink of famine, the need for a comprehensive cease-fire and political settlement is ever more urgent. Yemenis have suffered tremendous hardships from air bombardments, rocket attacks, and economic blockades. According to the U.N., approximately 4,000 civilians have been killed, the majority in Saudi-led coalition airstrikes. All parties to the conflict stand accused of war crimes, including indiscriminate attacks on civilian areas .

THE GULF WAR CRISIS_20230823_102402_0000.pptx.pdfneetmar2570
The Gulf War, also known as the Persian Gulf War, was a global conflict that lasted from August 1990 to February 1991. The war began when Iraq's dictator Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, claiming it as Iraq's 19th province. The invasion led to a United Nations Security Council embargo and sanctions on Iraq
The United States led a coalition of 35 nations against Iraq. The coalition began an air and ground war on January 16, 1991. The war ended with an Iraqi defeat and retreat from Kuwait
Some say that Iraq lost the war due to a combination of low morale, exhaustion, and being nearly hopelessly outmatched.
Iraq lose this war as Air strikes: The US and allied air forces bombed Iraqi positions and supply lines. The air campaign neutralized about 30% of Iraq's ground forces.
Psychological warfare: The US and allied forces dropped leaflets that were almost as devastating as the B-52 strikes.
Tank losses: The coalition lost 31 tanks, while Iraq lost an estimated 3,300.
Exhaustion: The Iraqi army and country were exhausted from the Iran–Iraq War.
Depleted reserves: Iraq's strategic reserves were depleted, and it lacked the power to go on any major offensives. this war impacted globally as well as to poor developing nation including India crude oil price rise up to 80 dollar per gallon.
It englights the era of Iraq under the leadership of Saddam hussein untill he was executed. I have analysed Saddam's tenure including Iran-Iraq war, both Gulf wars and Substance of Anarchy embedled in Iraq while scrutinizes his policies and Baa'th agenda.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2. WHAT IS THE GULF WAR
A U.N AUTHORIZED COALITION FORCE
LED BY THE USA, AGAINST
IRAQ, FOLLOWING THEIR INVASION OF
KUWAIT
3. BUILD UP TO THE
WAR
Iraq was deeply in debt after the events of IraqIran War, which saw the death of nearly half a
million soldiers and nearly the same amount of
civilians. Iraq was particularly in debt to Kuwait.
Kuwait did not agree to the Iraqi pleas to cancel
the debts. Iraq accused Kuwait of destabilizing the
economy, and openly threatened military action.
On the 23rd of July 1990, Iraq moved 30,000 troops
to Kuwaiti border. They invaded on the 2nd of
August 1990
4. WHICH NATIONS TOOK PART IN THE GULF
WAR
•
Coalition members included
Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belgium, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Egypt, Franc
e, Greece, Honduras, Hungary, Italy, Kuwait, Malaysia, Morocco, Netherlands, New
Zealand, Niger, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi
Arabia, Senegal, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Syria, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom
of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America.
•
Germany and Japan contributed financially, but didn’t send any military hardware or troops
•

deployment of troops, as
well as airstrike
locations, and other
locations such as Capital
cities and Oil fields
A map of Kuwait
6. THE ULTIMATE OUTCOME
•
The Ultimate Outcome was a decisive victory for the Coalition
forces, driving Iraq out of Kuwait. A ceasefire agreement was negotiated
and signed by both sides. However, the controversies around the terms
would lead to The 2nd Gulf War, in 2003.
7. SHORT TERM EFFECTS OF THE GULF WAR
•
Destabilized Iraq economy
•
Increase in oil prices in Kuwait
•
Huge decrease in Kuwait’s GDP and the Oil Industry severely deteriorated
8. LONG TERM EFFECTS
•
Huge Environmental impact, with nearly 11 million barrels of oil released
into the Arabian Gulf, as well as at least 80 ships carrying weapons and oil.
This disturbed the entire ecosystem, and destroyed marine life. The land
where the war took place became infertile. The Iraqi soldiers burned nearly
600 oil wells, leading to massive air pollution
•
Many soldiers involved in the Gulf War have been diagnosed with a unique
affliction, known as “Gulf War Illness”. Symptoms in the soldiers include
Chronic Fatigue, Moodiness, Depression, Sleeping Problems and Muscle
and Joint Pains. It has effected approximately 250,000 soldiers who
returned from the Gulf War
•
The impact on the common people was great too, with many women being
raped in the midst of war.
9. HOW DOES IT
RELATE TO THE
ARAB-ISRAELI
QUESTION
It relates to the Arab-Israeli
question, because the Gulf War can be
seen as a result of the Iran-Iraq, which
was a result of the Intifada and so on
further down the chain of events
