HISTORY – RISE OF DENIM
THE DENIM INDUSTRY - MANUFACTURES
Gold mines workers in 18th century
Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis supplied miners
with denim pants that were made from strong
material and reinforced with rivets at the
places where pants tended to tear which
prolonged life of pants.

Twill weave structure
Traditionally Blue
Denim is warp faced
cotton fabric with 3 x 1
twill construction with
warp being dyed in a
solid color and weft
left un-dyed.
Twill weave structure
Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile in which
the weft passes under two or more warp threads.
This twill weaving produces a diagonal ribbing that

YARN: The counts range from the
coarse counts of 6’s to 30's single
and to the doubled yarn counts of
2/30's, 2/40s and 2/50's. Core spun
Stretch yarns in counts 10s, 16s,

THE DENIM INDUSTRY - TECHNICAL ASPECTS 10
PROCESS TERMINOLOGY
In ball warping 250 to 480 yarn ends are pulled
from the creel. At intervals of every 1000 or 2000
yards (or meters), The yarns then go through a
funnel-shaped device called at rumpet or
condenser, which collapses and condenses the
sheet of yarn into rope form.
BALL WARPING
Rope Dyeing is considered a superior
dyeing technology where the dyeing
uniformity achieved is better than
other Indigo Dyeing technologies like
Slasher Dyeing. Pre-scouring –>hot

ROPE DYEING
WEAVING
Denim is woven through Shuttle less
Weaving System by Air jet looms or
rapier looms or projectile looms.

CONETOUCH 3D fabric research and development department has
developed a denim fabric using a new REPREVE-based yarn
technology allowing for the enhanced stretch and performance of
synthetic fibers while keeping an ultra-soft, natural cotton-like hand
feel. It is also eco-friendly in that the REPREVE-based yarns are made
up of reconstituted polyester- each pair of jeans made with
CONETOUCH fabric will contain on average what used to be 8 plastic
bottles.

ORGANIC DENIM The use of organic cottons is prevalent these days to
make Organic Denim, besides this, potato starch, natural indigo etc are also
used to manufacture Organic Denims.
ORGANIC DENIM
SILICONE SOFTENING TECHNOLOGY
A new granular softening technology is used to manufacture Denim fabric
these days in order to increase its productivity. The specialty of this technique
is that it has potentially reduced the use of amount of water, energy, and
labor required in the manufacturing process.
