Four young men who belong to a supernatural legacy are forced to battle a fifth
power long thought to have died out. Another great force they must contend with
is the jealousy and suspicion that threatens to tear them apart.
This poster contains the main features of any main poster. It has the name of the
film at the bottom of the poster, it is a bold font and is placed just about the
information at the bottom. The font used is very unique, I haven't seen this font
used in any other poster except this one, this is good because people might see the
font somewhere else and it will remind them of this film. The actors names are not
used on the front of the poster, but you can see the main characters even if you
can't see their faces you can still find out things about them. You can't see who
they are which could suggest that they have secrets, they are filled in with dark
colours so this could connote that they have an evil or dangerous past.
The colours used are very dark, and blurry. Most of the poster is just black while
the writing has a white haze, the characters are blacked out but their background
is a light blue colour. The black is used to help see the characters against the black
background, the white colours in the background and writing connote purity which
could be a feature of the film itself. The black could connote danger and mystery.
The colour black relates to the hidden, the secretive and the unknown, and as a
result it creates an atmosphere of mystery. Black is the absorption of all colour and
the absence of light. Black also means power and control, this could be a big part
of the film since most of the poster is filled with black.

2. There aren't any symbols used in this poster, the only features that
explain parts of the film are the characters at the top, the writing in the
middle and the title of the film. The characters at the top show who
will be in the film and because they are all close together could suggest
family and friendship. The writing in the middle does explain a lot
about what the film is about and what happened in the past, with this
information the audience doesn't need any foreknowledge to decode
this poster. The writing is hazed over but it says
"In 1692, five families with untold power formed a Covenant of silence.
One family lusting for more, was banished. Their bloodline
disappearing without a trace. Until now."

The messages are both visual and verbal, I think that the writing in the middle of the poster helps the audience
to know more about the film, the characters at the top of the poster don't really show much about the film but
it does go with the writing. The writing in the middle talks about 4 families who survived, the 4 characters at
the top is the poster, and 1 family who was lost but is now back. This means that in the film the audience will
discover much more about the fifth family member but he might be a bad person.
Mystery is a gratification promised, this
film has different genres, action,
fantasy and horror. The mystery aspect
is promised through the use of the
black on the poster, black related to
the unknown which suggests the
mystery. Since this is also an action and
horror film we expect so see fighting
but also some dangerous parts.
I think that this is a very good film poster, I
have seen this film and the poster does
explain a lot about the film itself. The writing
in the middle helps to understand the plot of
the film, even if you don't understand what
the poster means then the film will explain it
better. The mysteriousness of the poster gives
the audience a reason to watch the film,
because they don't know much about it.
There is anything offensive about this poster,
there is no strong language, no gory parts or
anything that could scare a child while walking
past. The certificate of this film is PG-13 which
does give a younger viewer a warning about what
the film will contain. This poster could be seen as
something scary to a child walking past, because
you can't see the faces of the actors no the
poster is very dark and misty.
