This on-demand webcast shows you how you shield your organization from such attacks – as well as how to respond if ransomware does penetrate your organization. Baseline Technologies’ Mike Crowley gives you the inside track on how ransomware works and how to lower your risk of ransomware attacks.
Ransomware has not gone away. In fact, ransomware criminals have evolved their malware so they can encrypt more data before detection and increase the likelihood you will pay their ransom.
Webinar: Backup vs. Ransomware - 5 Requirements for Backup SuccessStorage Switzerland
Ransomware is the universal threat. No matter an organization's data center location, or its size, it can be devastated by a ransomware attack. While most organizations focus on the periphery, they also need to be prepared for a breach, something that ransomware is particularly adept. In case of a breach, an advanced backup and disaster recovery solution can ensure safe and timely recovery of data without paying ransom.
In this webinar join experts from Storage Switzerland and Micro Focus as they discuss the impact of ransomware and the core features of a backup solution that can mitigate the associated risks.
Ransomware Has Evolved And So Should Your CompanyVeriato
Ransomware is typically initiated via phishing or social engineering tactics, these attacks often take advantage of human error for the successful delivery of the malware. These criminal organizations are impartial to the size of your organization. They target any company with data, and if you don't pay the ransom, your information could be posted to a public forum or sold on the Dark Web for profit. Most companies unfortunately are forced to pay due to system failure and file corruption.
The scariest about these methods is that the Ransomware doesn't need to be developed by the attackers. Ransomware services can now be purchased on the DarkWeb and used at the Cybercriminal's will (RAAS). As these Ransomware attacks and services evolve, how can companies arm themselves with the right solutions to defend themselves from these evergrowing attacks?

Ransomware: Why Are Backup Vendors Trying To Scare You?marketingunitrends
Ransomware. The very word strikes fear into the hearts of admins, backup specialists, and security pros. Backup software vendors know if all your data is not protected, there is a good chance that if (when?) ransomware hits, you will most likely lose data. But, what should scare you more is less than half of ransomware victims fully recover their data, even with backup. What can you do to make sure you are not on the wrong side of a statistic?

IT security in 2021: Why Ransomware Is Still The Biggest ThreatETech 7
What’s next for cybersecurity in 2021? Last year, both the public and the private sector experienced a plethora of breaches and attacks. From regular security lapses to more complicated, and often more expensive, ransomware attacks - 2020 has seen a drastic increase in the volume of breaches that led to the widespread loss of data and valuable information around the world.
This is a presentation for small businesses as presented by Art Ocain of MePush during an SBDC presentation. This explains how and why ransomware exists as well as how to recover and prepare.
Ransomware like CryptoLocker has infiltrated countless businesses, encrypted files and demanded a pound of flesh for their safe release. With no relief in sight and new variations emerging regularly, ransomware continues to be one of the most widespread and damaging threats to businesses today. Now, more than ever, businesses need to have rock solid backup and disaster recovery systems in place to ensure continuity.
As cyber criminals and nation-states continue to improve the sophistication of attacks that bypass traditional preventive defenses, organizations must evolve their security defenses to reduce dwell time. Join Fidelis Advisor, and ex CIA CTO, Bob Flores and Fidelis Senior Manager, Tom Clare as they delve into the results of The 2018 State of Threat Detection Report and discuss what the research means for organizations large and small across the globe.

Extend Network Visibility and Secure Applications and Data in AzureFidelis Cybersecurity
Cloud adoption of applications and data, mainly into VMs using infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS,) is well underway with organizations expected to reach 60-80% adoption of their portfolios by 2021. What remains behind are legacy applications and supporting office and campus networks for workplace collaboration and reduced or closed data centers. Gaining visibility of VM-based cloud applications and data to detect threats and data loss/theft has been challenging, and securing this traffic requires new approaches.
If you have Azure-based applications or are considering hosting applications in Azure, register for this webinar to find out how Microsoft, Gigamon and Fidelis Cybersecurity can provide the visibility and security required for your cloud-based traffic.

The Data lake hidden in your backups - Big Data Expo 2019webwinkelvakdag
Data warehouse projects have an alarmingly high failure rate – leading analysts estimate anywhere from 50% to 64% over the last 15 years. These projects don’t fail from a lack of good tools in the market. They fail because of the time, expense, and complexity of centralizing, storing, updating, and transforming enterprise data so that it can be unlocked for other uses.
But what if you had already built a data lake covering all of your production workloads, with data stretching back for months or years and updated daily? What if this data lake was accessible, easily portable, and available for analysis using any set of tools? And what if the expense and staffing to create and maintain this data lake was already part of your budget and had been for years?
Your organization’s backup data represents exactly this resource. We all have backups to recover from outages, human error, malware, and disasters. But imagine you could take advantage of your backup data in order to:
Analyze historical data sets with no impact on production workloads
Migrate workloads into the cloud to take advantage of cloud-based analytics resources
Fully automate DevOps processes using daily backup data
Perform ransomware and compliancy checks and audits
Comply with GDPR data subject access requests (DSAR’s)
And numerous other use cases…

Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.
Modern design is crucial in today's digital environment, and this is especially true for SharePoint intranets. The design of these digital hubs is critical to user engagement and productivity enhancement. They are the cornerstone of internal collaboration and interaction within enterprises.
Listen to the keynote address and hear about the latest developments from Rachana Ananthakrishnan and Ian Foster who review the updates to the Globus Platform and Service, and the relevance of Globus to the scientific community as an automation platform to accelerate scientific discovery.

In software engineering, the right architecture is essential for robust, scalable platforms. Wix has undergone a pivotal shift from event sourcing to a CRUD-based model for its microservices. This talk will chart the course of this pivotal journey.
Event sourcing, which records state changes as immutable events, provided robust auditing and "time travel" debugging for Wix Stores' microservices. Despite its benefits, the complexity it introduced in state management slowed development. Wix responded by adopting a simpler, unified CRUD model. This talk will explore the challenges of event sourcing and the advantages of Wix's new "CRUD on steroids" approach, which streamlines API integration and domain event management while preserving data integrity and system resilience.
Participants will gain valuable insights into Wix's strategies for ensuring atomicity in database updates and event production, as well as caching, materialization, and performance optimization techniques within a distributed system.
Join us to discover how Wix has mastered the art of balancing simplicity and extensibility, and learn how the re-adoption of the modest CRUD has turbocharged their development velocity, resilience, and scalability in a high-growth environment.
Code reviews are vital for ensuring good code quality. They serve as one of our last lines of defense against bugs and subpar code reaching production.
Yet, they often turn into annoying tasks riddled with frustration, hostility, unclear feedback and lack of standards. How can we improve this crucial process?
In this session we will cover:
- The Art of Effective Code Reviews
- Streamlining the Review Process
- Elevating Reviews with Automated Tools
By the end of this presentation, you'll have the knowledge on how to organize and improve your code review proces

Understanding Globus Data Transfers with NetSageGlobus
NetSage is an open privacy-aware network measurement, analysis, and visualization service designed to help end-users visualize and reason about large data transfers. NetSage traditionally has used a combination of passive measurements, including SNMP and flow data, as well as active measurements, mainly perfSONAR, to provide longitudinal network performance data visualization. It has been deployed by dozens of networks world wide, and is supported domestically by the Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC), NSF #2328479. We have recently expanded the NetSage data sources to include logs for Globus data transfers, following the same privacy-preserving approach as for Flow data. Using the logs for the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) as an example, this talk will walk through several different example use cases that NetSage can answer, including: Who is using Globus to share data with my institution, and what kind of performance are they able to achieve? How many transfers has Globus supported for us? Which sites are we sharing the most data with, and how is that changing over time? How is my site using Globus to move data internally, and what kind of performance do we see for those transfers? What percentage of data transfers at my institution used Globus, and how did the overall data transfer performance compare to the Globus users?

First Steps with Globus Compute Multi-User EndpointsGlobus
In this presentation we will share our experiences around getting started with the Globus Compute multi-user endpoint. Working with the Pharmacology group at the University of Auckland, we have previously written an application using Globus Compute that can offload computationally expensive steps in the researcher's workflows, which they wish to manage from their familiar Windows environments, onto the NeSI (New Zealand eScience Infrastructure) cluster. Some of the challenges we have encountered were that each researcher had to set up and manage their own single-user globus compute endpoint and that the workloads had varying resource requirements (CPUs, memory and wall time) between different runs. We hope that the multi-user endpoint will help to address these challenges and share an update on our progress here.
Why React Native as a Strategic Advantage for Startup Innovation.pdfayushiqss
Do you know that React Native is being increasingly adopted by startups as well as big companies in the mobile app development industry? Big names like Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest have already integrated this robust open-source framework.
In fact, according to a report by Statista, the number of React Native developers has been steadily increasing over the years, reaching an estimated 1.9 million by the end of 2024. This means that the demand for this framework in the job market has been growing making it a valuable skill.
But what makes React Native so popular for mobile application development? It offers excellent cross-platform capabilities among other benefits. This way, with React Native, developers can write code once and run it on both iOS and Android devices thus saving time and resources leading to shorter development cycles hence faster time-to-market for your app.
Let’s take the example of a startup, which wanted to release their app on both iOS and Android at once. Through the use of React Native they managed to create an app and bring it into the market within a very short period. This helped them gain an advantage over their competitors because they had access to a large user base who were able to generate revenue quickly for them.
