Nixon is known for making quite a few anti-Semitic
remarks during his term
In one of the conversations released in the recordings,
Nixon mused about global anti-Semitism. "This antiSemitism is stronger than we think, ya know," he said in
a conversation to Evangelist Billy Graham shortly after
Israel shot down a Libyan passenger plane in Sinai, and
on the eve of then-Israeli Prime Minister Gold Meir's visit
to Washington. "It's unfortunate, but this has happened
to the Jews, happened in Spain, it happened in
Germany, it's happening, and now it's gonna happen in
America if these people don't start behaving. "It may be
they have a death wish, that's been the problem with our
Jewish friends for centuries," said Nixon.
5) Ronald Reagan: was the 40th President of the
United States.

THEMES
White supremacy
White power entailed
the hegemony of the
«white race» over the
«black one». In the
USA this
manifestation of
unfounded superiority
was the KU KLUX
KLAN

Veronica P. - Simona M.

10
Peaceful resistance

The Blacks tried to
recover their rights
peacefully, resisting the
physical and moral
violence of the whites.

Veronica P. - Simona M.

11
Conflict between father and son
In the Butler there are
two conflicting ideas:
that of Cecil’s and that
of his son Luis. The
combination of the two
approaches is what
brings about change.

Veronica P. - Simona M.

12
DIGNITY
Cecil is proud of his job
because he thinks that
thanks to it he will be able
to give a better future to
his family.
Luis, instead, resorts to
«non-violet fights» to
improve the present

Veronica P. - Simona M.

13
WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU?
Cecil’s? Luis’s? What would you do if
your rights were crushed? Would you
accept this passively or would you
«fight» for your own freedom?
