Aesthetic in poetry
 The use of aesthetic in poetry deals with the technique
used by the poet to portray messages to the readers
 Meaning is conveyed through the use of;
 Mood
 Structure
 Imagery
 Tone
 Rhythm
 Rhyme
Rationale of aesthetic approach in
teaching lesson
 To expose students to the use of poetic devices in a
poem
 To make sure that the students understand the meaning
of the poem
 To give freedom to the students in interpreting the
poem in their own way
 To enhance students critical and creative thinking skills
Rationale of the activity
 Teacher explains the poem by paraphrasing it
 Students learn poetic devices of symbolism and
imagery subconsciously
 Cloze text of the paraphrased form of the
poem are given to the students
 To ensure students understand the literal meaning of
the poem
continue
 Students are required to create their own
sentence to paraphrase the poem according
to stanza
 Freedom is given to the students to write their own
interpretation
 A series of similar activities are done to enhance
students’ understanding of the poem so as to
improve students’ memory

Rationale of aesthetic approach in teaching lesson  To expose students to the use of poetic devices in a poem  To make sure that the students understand the meaning of the poem  To give freedom to the students in interpreting the poem in their own way  To enhance students critical and creative thinking skills
  • 5. Rationale of the activity  Teacher explains the poem by paraphrasing it  Students learn poetic devices of symbolism and imagery subconsciously  Cloze text of the paraphrased form of the poem are given to the students  To ensure students understand the literal meaning of the poem
