The use of aesthetic in poetry deals with the technique
used by the poet to portray messages to the readers
Meaning is conveyed through the use of;
Mood
Structure
Imagery
Tone
Rhythm
Rhyme
4. Rationale of aesthetic approach in
teaching lesson
To expose students to the use of poetic devices in a
poem
To make sure that the students understand the meaning
of the poem
To give freedom to the students in interpreting the
poem in their own way
To enhance students critical and creative thinking skills

Teacher explains the poem by paraphrasing it
Students learn poetic devices of symbolism and
imagery subconsciously
Cloze text of the paraphrased form of the
poem are given to the students
