2. Masthead- This is very bold and stand out, this is so
the reader wont miss it and be able to recognise
which magazine it is. It is a very simple design by
using the red and white colours on a 2D design. By
using these sort of colours it indicated danger and
fire, could be and indication that this magazine
doesn’t hold back on what they say and have all the
gossip you need.
Image- Here we have a medium shot of Ed Sheeran,
they have used this type of shot to be bale to show of
his body language but also his facial expressions, this
image he looks very relaxed and looks like he's a bit
stunned maybe by how fast his life has changed. He is
placed in the centre of the magazine most likely to
show he is one of the main focus that they have gone
for in this issue.
Mise-en-scene- This image looks like its been took in a studio with
the white background they have done this so they are able to have
the lighting and background. The lighting in this image is very low
key on him but the background looks high key, it looks like they are
trying to have the effect that he is on stage in this photo and he's
stepped out of the spotlight. The costume in this image looks very
fashionable but looks very normal just what any man in there 20’s
would wear they are trying to show hear that he's just a normal
person like anyone else. He is holding a prop of a guitar this is a
prop given but he is holding it almost as if its like he is holding a
baby and his whole life has changed thanks to this. Here we have a
medium shot of Ed Sheeran, they have used this type of shot to be
bale to show of his body language but also his facial expressions,
this image he looks very relaxed and looks like he's a bit stunned
maybe by how fast his life has changed. The colour of the
magazine is very normal average colours nothing to bold and stand
out just normal red, black and white could be suggesting about his
personality and what he's like
Main sell lines- The main sell line
is in a much larger font size
compared to the other sell lines
this is highly to do with the fact
that the publishers believe that
by making them more noticeable
them stories they are likely to
help the magazine sell
Puff- Here the puff look a bit like a sticker has been put on, the
different shape of it helps to make it look edgy and different.
Also by having the word ’essential ‘ by doing this it gives people
the indication that they do actually need it because usually
essentials are things like food, clothes etc. But here its using
persuasive language to encourage them to by the magazine but
are using it in a everyday context.
Sell lines- We have sell lines on the left hand side
and also the right, this means that wherever the
reader looks they are going to notice it and read at
least one of them. The text on the sell lines the
main parts of them have been put in a larger more
bold text so they stand out.
Barcode shows the issue number, price and
also the date its located in the bottom corner
so its easy to find and noticeable but doesn’t
get in the way of any sell lines etc.
Right at the bottom of the page
they have another ell line this
enables them to use the space to
the maximum and fill it. They have
used caps lock for it all so the
reader cant really miss it they have
also gone for making some of the
words red to suggest there about
ed sheeran as his name is written
in red also.

3. Title- Once again we see the same here as
we did on the front cover with the masthead,
by doing this it is continuing on the house
style as its using the same font and colours.
Shows that there is continuity throughout
the magazine. Once again it is located in the
top left hand corner, not getting in the way of
any text and making full use of the page
space.
Image- Here we have an image of a band. It
has been took in a very empty area, they
have done this as it makes the magazine look
image look edgy and different to your typical
image took in a studio. The lighting looks
very low key as it isn’t the brightest of
images it helps to create a atmosphere and
makes you think there music may be like how
that photo is. The costumes they are wearing
a pretty average just normal clothes really
this could be a statement that they don’t
want to be to bold they like to just blend in.
The word ‘Contents’ has been made all in
capitals so it stands out, this is so people know
what page it is and what their looking at. It has
used the colour scheme of black and white it’s
a contrast as white usually means light and
hope yet black can suggest death.
Table of contents- Here it is split up into main sections and
each main section has been put in a bolder more
noticeable font so the reader can browse through and fine
their favourite section quicker and easier. Also by them
doing this its kind off like a sell line because if a buyer is
looking through and spots a heading they like they may be
more incline to buy it. They have made the numbers red
and text black on a white background once again
continuing with the house style that they are trying to do
here. Also there is another contents which is a special
oasis edition this has been put in a gold text to show the
reader this is a once time special and it will be worth
buying the magazine just for this! As usually gold suggests
joy and happiness so that’s why they have used that
colour. Also below each heading it gives the reader a small
taste of what the article is about and lets them see if they
like it or not.
Here is a every month box, by adding this in it will give new time
buyers something to expect and realise that its in the magazine
every month so if they like that kind of stuff they will be likely to
buy the magazine more often.
In the bottom right hand side of
the page we have another type
of contents kind of this is a guide
to the best music out at the
moment, so it enables people to
find different types of music
their looking.
Also we have another image in this
bottom right by having this there it
enables the viewer to have a visual look
on who the artist is and what they're
like and what to expect.
In the right hand top corner we have a date of the
magazine.
On top of the image we have a pull quote
used, by using a conversational pull quote it
encourages the reader to go to that page as
you know its about the people in the
image, it has been given its own box rather
than be in the contents page shows it must
be an important article and one people will
really want to read.

4. Title- Once again the title is following the same house
style of the red, black and white. And is the same font
type as the mast head, shows the reader that its
important as it is the same as the masthead. It has
been placed at the very top of the article this is so its
noticeable and the first thing the viewer reads also by
putting it up here it enables them to see.
Masthead- Once again the masthead features
on the double page spread, it has been put on
the page so people remember which
magazine they are reading and if they like it
hopefully recognize it next time and buy it
again.
Layout- The text has been framed around
the image of Ed, by doing this it maximizes
the amount of space used and doesn't’t
waste any. Also the reason why they have
done this is so the text doesn't’t damage
the image or get in the way of it. Also by
laying it out like this it the reader knows
the text is about them as the whole text
revolves around him. There are also 2 small
images of him which provide more details
about what he is saying in the article so the
reader has a better idea about what he is
on about. The headings have been written
in a red colour so the viewer know what
the question. Also when he ahs answered a
question if its an important piece of
information they have highlighted it red to
show the reader its an important part of
the answer. The text is split up into 2
sections one about his life and the other is
a Q&A with him.
Image- We have a long shot of him here, this is
good as it enables the reader to see his body
language and his background, the disadvantage
of this shot is you cant quite see his facial
expressions, but you can slightly see them so
overall it’s a good shot type. In this image he
looks very relaxed and as if he's just sat there
chilling out it’s a very relaxed, it helps set the
mood of the interview as by the image we will
guess its going to be quite a fun relaxed
interview.
Content- The content is quite mixed there is a
Q&A with him but also an article explaining who
he is and his achievements. By doing this it allows
people who aren’t fans of his music gain
information about him and also for the people
who are already fans and know that information
there is a Q&A which allows the reader to find
some personal information about him and it
helps the reader become closer. Furthermore
when there is quite an important quote said by
Ed or in the article it has been enlarged and made
red to continue with the house style and also it
helps the reader know its important and they will
most likely read it.
Colours- The colours in this article are very simple they
have gone for red, white and black. The colour red
usually gives us connotations of love and happiness
where as black is more of a death and dark colour, so
it’s a contrast between them both. White usually
suggests to us of purity a new beginnings so this could
be associated with how his life has changed for the
better since becoming a professional singer.
