Susan B Anthony Dares To Compare And Contrast Essay
In the two stories, Susan B Anthony Dares to Vote and Don t give up the fight the theme is likewise.
The theme of the stories is being different. The reason the theme of the stories is being different is
because it clearly states that in both passages. In Don t Give Up the Fight Ava is the only girl on the
track team. Also in Susan B Anthony Dares to Vote, Susan wants to stand up for women s rights when
no one else does. The way the two passages are different are the characters. In the first passage Ava
lets people shoot her down at times and in the second passage, Susan B Anthony never lets anyone get
in her way. A common theme in Susan B Anthony Dares To Vote to be different. Because she sticks up

Anthony Dares to Vote and Don t Give up the Fight. The way it is shown in the first story is it is
shown n a more serious matter rather than being the only girl on the track team. Susan B Anthony is
strong and doesn t challenge other to prove them wrong and solved her problem peacefully instead of
challenging someone like Ava challenged the one boy to a race. That did not go peacefully, she hurt
her arm. The two stories are also different because Susan B Anthony let people know what she was
thinking the whole time whereas, in Don t Give up the Fight Ava holds back that she is hurting until
the end when she spills it all out to her best friend Lindsay. That is how the two stories, Susan B

State University ( Gsu ) Tigers Vs. The Prairie
Usually, when the Fall comes around in Dallas, it means one or two things. The Grambling State
University (GSU) Tigers vs. the Prairie View A M University (PVAMU) Panthers game and the State
Fair of Texas. By all means everything fell into place on October 1, 2016. The beautiful backdrop
from the Texas Star (Ferris Wheel) is in the distance. The aromas from the great foods of the State Fair
of Texas was in the air. If you never attended a Historical Black College and University (HBCU),
football, you are missing an event full of pageantry, music, ambiance and competition. From the time
you step in the stadium, it s Showtime. The crowd is normally dressed to a T. The Barbershops, Hair

PVAMU took advantage of the GSU s missed opportunity and marched down the field from the 24
yard line. Lee and the Panthers appeared to have the Tigers on their heels as they moved the ball to the
GSU s 33 yard line. From that point, Dawonya Tucker rush for 33 yards to the for a touchdown, Owen
Hoolihan added the PAT with 5:08 left in the quarter to give the Panthers a 16 0 lead. At this point, the
wheels came off of the Panthers wagon and GSU scored 16 unanswered points. GSU got things going
and the momentum changed in their favor. Kincade connected with Chad Williams on a 13 yard
passed to make the score 16 7 with PAT by Jonathon Wallace with 2:42 in the first quarter. At this
point, both teams were going back and forth. Several turnovers occurred. Until, Kincade and GSU got
their groove on with an 11 yard run for pay dirt. Jonathon Wallace successfully completed the PAT to
make the score 16 14 in favor of PVAMU at the 10:39 in the second quarter. GSU would score again
before the half when PVAMU s Lorin Winston couldn t handle a high snap and push the ball out of the
back of the end zone for a safety. That tied the score at 16 16 all with 2:00 minutes left in the half.
Both teams continued to battle prior half time. GSU s Jameel Jackson intercepted Green at the 42 yard
line to bring the quarter to an end. As the teams were

Women s Brains By Gould Summary
Gould proves to his readers the amount of bias that is involved with some scientific discoveries such
as Broca s. Broca was a Physician, who lived from 1824 to 1880. He is most famously known for his
realization of the importance in the frontal lobe of our brains, this part of our brain is now known as
the Broca. Gould who was an evolutionary biologist, amongst other things, wrote a paper disproving
Scientists previous study of women s inferiority due to their smaller skulls. Gould no only disproves
an incorrect social analysis in Women s Brains , he proves science s true fickleness. Near the
beginning of his essay he says, But science is an inferential exercise, not a catalog of facts. Numbers,
by themselves, specify nothing. All depends upon what you do with them. He could not have been
more right. Gould goes through Broca s paper and proves that it is not scientific data that incorrectly
supported the intelligence level of women, but actually the incorrect science that proves an incorrect
point. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How then, do different scientists find different results? Look at Manouvier s research, Gould says,
when he corrected for what he called sexual mass women actually came out slightly ahead in brain
size. These men researching the exact same thing with the same tools had opposite results. Then think
of something different not involving Gould and Broca; something like the periodic table. It s true that
the law of octaves has not changed in over a hundred years, but what about other organizations of this
important scientific chart? Some time periods believe the table is set up according to atomic mass,
while others believe it is because of atomic number. Think about the atom as well, the idea of an atom
is so much different now then what it was a hundred years ago. Science doesn t stay still and who
knows what it will be in the

Fast Car Tracy Chapman Poetic Techniques
The song Fast Car by Tracy Chapman revolves around who we assume is Chapman, or another first
person point of view, and their lover. They both are itching to get out of the town they re living in and
move to the city. Chapman ends up coming to terms and accepting her situation in the city, while her
lover is the opposite. In Fast Car , Chapman uses juxtaposition and subtle changes in her repetition to
convey the idea that the feeling of escape is fleeting unless you actively work to make the best of your
situation. In the song, the speaker is Chapman herself, or a character she has created. They seem to be
talking to the antagonist, her partner, but it s not clear whether she s talking to them face to face or not.
The whole song is about their elopement from their old town to the city, and them either coming to
terms with their new life or still not being satisfied. This would mean that the conflict is internal, as it
isn t Chapman s fault her lover isn t settling. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the second half of the song, Chapman says, you still ain t got a job / and I work in the market as a
checkout girl (line 36 37). This shows that even after they have left their old town behind, that her
lover isn t settling into their new life in the city. This theme continues later when she says, I got a job
that pays all our bills / you stay out drinking late at the bar / see more of your friends than you do your
kids (49 50). This line not only shows a passing of time, but continues to prove that they are not
adjusting or even working towards adjusting to their new life. They seem to still want that feeling of

Prostitution And The Act Of Prostitution
The world s oldest profession, also known as prostitution, is considered a grey area in morality
(Thiroux). Prostitution is defined as selling oneself or one s talents for base purpose (Agnes). Contrary
to popular belief, there are plenty of arguments for prostitution and the act of prostitution becoming
legal. Coinciding with popular belief, there are more arguments against the act of prostitution being
legalized. While some consider the act of prostitution to be an immoral act others will consider it a
victimless crime. Most people consider it to be immoral and use arguments such as it cause crimes,
spreads social diseases and AIDS and it is extramarital and commercialized. The opposing argument,
which is for the act of prostitution say that it, is a victimless crime, is a safe sexual release and is not
socially acceptable and it could be controlled by the government (Thiroux). The underlying question
now asks, is the act of prostitution moral?
If you were to mention prostitution to someone, they will typically react with disgust. Furthering the
conversation on the topic and mentioning legalizing prostitution will be followed with shock or
laughter. Prostitution is a major part of what we call the Sex Industry, which involves all personnel
that are involved in both legal and illegal varieties of sexual commerce. This includes everything from
X rated magazines, videos and DVDs, to computer pornography to strip clubs (Weitzer). While the
Sex Industry made a whooping $97

Do We Have Our Own Opinions Rights Analysis
Most people in our society say what s on their mind and give opinions on just about any subject. For
the most part, people don t always know everything about an issue before they offer their opinion;
sometimes they don t know anything at all, but they still give their input anyway. Having our views is
a form of communicating with others, like understanding where someone stands on certain issues or
arguing for facts. . Opinions should always be backed up with evidence. Most of us grew up believing
that we are entitled to our own opinions, but I m starting to question whether we have the freedom to
share our views with others if those views aren t supported by evidence. In the essay, Opinion Rights,
Jamie Whyte argues that, we are not really entitled to our opinions, nor should we be, because such an
entitlement is the enemy of intellectual progress (13). Does having our own opinions diminish our
intellectual progress? I don t agree with Whyte s statement that those who feel entitled to an opinion
are the enemies of intellectual progress. Part of interacting with others entails us to share our views,
listen to other people s opinions, and question what we don t understand. Both men and women make
intellectual progress in many ways all the time; communicating with others who have different beliefs

Persuasive Essay On Pit Bulls
As people walk down the street they pass many different dogs, dogs of various breeds. People pass
these cute, loveable creatures walking with their owners and may even coo about them, or wish their
furry friend were with them. Suddenly, they see a vicious escape psycho killer mere feet away from
them. This killer is only a pit bull, but these people associate this breed with violence, danger, and
death. While only a few number of pit bulls are dangerous, an incredible amount of people believe that
this breed are the mass murderers of the dog realm. Pit bulls do not deserve the negative perceptions
they receive because, other dog breeds are more aggressive, their behaviors rely on their owners, and
the sensationalized media about the breed. A dog s temperament is the way the react in different
situations. A dog with a good temperament can react to various situations calmly and will not be
aggressive. The American Temperament Test Society holds an event a few times a year to collect data
about different breeds temperaments and how friendly these dogs are (ATTS). The test consists of
walking in an enclosed track where the dog will react to different strangers and noises. The percent of
pit bulls that passed the temperament test is 87.4 percent. This is a shockingly high percent
considering that many people think they are creatures from the devil. Pit bulls scored way higher than
Dachshunds, 68.8 percent, and Collies, 80.6%. Pit bulls even scored higher than on of

Food And Eating In Christianity And Hinduism
Food and eating are at the centre of Christianity and Hinduism for centuries. The Fall of Adam and
Eve, after eating the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden, is one of the central tropes in the Western
discourses. A special kind of food becomes a cause for the first man and woman s damnation, and
ironically, I argue, a new opportunity to control the new dominion . God commands, specifically, what
requirements man should fulfill, including what he needs to eat in order to secure his union with the
god. Food, therefore, can work to uplift man to heaven if chosen accordingly, or could be a cause for
his damnation to hell. Hinduism, in a similar fashion, observes food as an important aspect of life and
afterlife. It depends upon man s choice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
OED defines venison as The flesh of an animal killed in the chase or by hunting and used as food;
formerly applied to the flesh of the deer, boar, hare, rabbit, or other game animal, now almost entirely
restricted to the flesh of various species of deer . Jaques opposes the violence to animals in their own
territory, and reminds Duke Senior about animals similarities to human beings, they are fat and greasy
citizens (2.1.55). The humanisation of animals and the necessity of human beings to understand the
importance of respecting their value corresponds to the idea of prelapsarian world where Adam and
Eve lived in harmony with the animals. They lived in a world where animals had human sensitivity,
and were free of any human interference. Violence against any creature was not imagined in the
prelapsarian world. Joan Fitzpatrick argues that Shakespeare may have strange sympathy for
vegetarianism, especially in those plays where pastoralism features (Renaissance Food from Rabelais
to Shakespeare: Culinary Readings and Culinary Histories 140). In the similar vein, the Hindu
scriptures describe about the creation of the world where the first men on earth all of them were the
sages with different capacities lived together with the animals in a completely harmonious natural
environment. There was

Secrets In Romeo And Juliet
Secrets are essential to human social interaction. Whether we are being loyal to our friends or
sneaking out of the house, we ve all kept a few. Secrets are frequently mentioned in the infamous
Shakespearean play, Romeo and Juliet. Even the love of the two teenagers is kept a secret from their
respective families! However, some of these secrets contribute to the tearful deaths of Juliet and
Romeo. Sometimes, secrets should be told. Capulet and Montague secrets influence the play in one
way or another, yet it s known that they should ve been told. Sampson and Gregory, Capulet servants,
run across Montague servants in the town square. Is the law of our side, if I say ay? asks sampson.
Gregory responds No. Sampson, addressing the others ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, while Romeo courts Juliet, he doesn t tell his friends where he is. Go then, for tis in vain
to seek him here that means not to be found (Shakespeare 2.1.44 45), said Benvolio as Mercutio and
he search for Romeo after the Capulet s party. They discuss whether they should continue looking for
him, but are discouraged and quit. Romeo hiding away and keeping his location a secret allowed him
to court Juliet and for them to fall in love. Not sharing his forbidden love gives Romeo the opportunity
to love her without consequences, at least for a while. He gets to be with his true love. However, this
stance isn t completely supported in Romeo and Juliet. When the Nurse discovers Juliet s sleeping yet
appeared dead body, she exclaims, Alas, Alas! Help, help! My lady s dead! (Shakespeare 4.5.15).
Nurse didn t know about the plan Juliet and Friar had to allow her to live happily live Romeo, leaving
her unaware about the sleeping potion that Juliet took. If Nurse knew about the plan, she wouldn t
have to mourn her beloved Juliet s death, though granted, she wasn t really dead yet. Regardless, if
Juliet had shared her scheme, Nurse wouldn t have had to mourn both Tybalt and Juliet. To finally
refute, Juliet s parents had just told her that she was to be married to County Paris. After they left, she

Worldview In The Bhagavad Git A Reflection
The Significance of Worldview in The Bhagavad Gita : A Reflection
One s worldview is immensely influential in every aspect of a person s life. In The Bhagavad Gita ,
the importance of having a strong viewpoint is displayed through the actions of Arjuna and Krishna.
This epic is a great example of how one s worldview impacts one s actions and decisions.
Additionally, Arjuna discovers how trying it can be to keep hold of his outlook on life when faced
with difficult situations. The Gita is an accurate illustration of how one s worldview persuades the
actions and decision making of a person because of Arjuna s worldview, the theme of karma and
dharma, and how one s world view effects every aspect of a person s life.
Arjuna is a unique character because of the worldview he holds. Hindus in The Bhagavad Gita hold
the value of life slightly lower than most because they have the security of reincarnation to rely on.
However, Arjuna is different than many Hindus because he values life to a higher degree than others.
In lines 28 30, Arjuna s value of human life is accurately displayed. Krishna, I see my kinsmen
gathered here, wanting war. My limbs sink, my mouth trembles, the hair bristles on my flesh. The
magic bow slips from my hand, my skin burns, I cannot stand still, my mind reels (Miller, 2004).
Arjuna being struck with grief while watching his family members about to lose their lives
exemplifies how his worldview is filled with empathy. Krishna, encouraging Arjuna to fight in the war
and not to worry about the lives of his family, sparked the conversation about reincarnation. Krishna
did not find death enough of a reason to cease fighting. There was no fear of death for most Hindus
because their soul would simply be placed in a new life, possibly a better one. That is displayed in
teaching two line 37 when Lord Krishna states: If you are killed, you win heaven; if you triumph, you
enjoy the earth; therefore Arjuna, stand up and resolve to fight the battle! (Miller, 2004). Krishna s
viewpoint did not portray what Arjuna believed clearly because Arjuna had empathy for human life,
whereas Krishna did not fret over a lost life. Ultimately, Arjuna s view on life encouraged him to make
the decision to drop

Image Processing And Image Enhancement
Abstract
Image enhancement is to process an image, in order to make the result more suitable than original
image for specific application. i.e. the image is enhanced. For that many image enhancement
techniques are used. Appropriate choice of such techniques is very important.Image Enhancement is
simple and it s the area based on digital image processing techniques. It improves the quality of the
images by working with the existing data.
Keywords:
Image processing, Image enhancement
1. Introduction
Image processing is the input image which is converted from one form to another. Digital image
processing plays a vital role in real world applications. Before processing an image, it must be
converted into a digital form.
One of part of the image processing is the image enhancement. The main objective of image
enhancement is to modify attributes of an image to make it more suitable for a given task. Here, one or
more attributes of the image get modified. The main purpose of image enhancement is to bring out
details which are hidden in an image, or to increase the contrast in a low contrast image. It produces
an output image that is better than the original image by changing the pixel s intensity of the input
image. Image enhancement is applied in many fields. For example, medical image analysis, analysis
of images from satellites, Aerial imaging, Satellite imaging, Digital camera applications, Remote
sensing etc.

Economic Policies Of El Salvador And Other Nations Essay
Dollarization: A Comparison of Economic Policies in El Salvador and Other Nations Dollarization is
the process in which nations replace their domestic currencies [with foreign legal tender] ...to obtain
economic growth and stability (Rivera Solis 330). The US dollar is the most common choice of
exchange in this practice, though the adoption of other first world states currencies may be entertained
as well. Though its effects are not instant, US dollarization has brought many gradual benefits to the
economic statuses of several countries. There are two types of dollarization: official and unofficial. In
the process of official dollarization, a state gives complete monetary control to a foreign nation,
ceding its right to both create a central bank and issue a domestic form of currency. Where as a nation
loses its sovereignty to make decisions concerning its money supply in official dollarization, unofficial
dollarization allows states to keep most of its control in place. Nations who implement dollarization
unofficially keep their ability to own a central bank to fall back on, in cases of economic emergency,
and regulate their own currency. Some studies encourage the promotion of official dollarization, while
other scorn it s outcome and option for its slighter counterpart, partial dollarization, instead. This
paper explores the differences in both policies and the effects of dollarization on four separate nations:
El Salvador, Panama, Zimbabwe, and the British Virgin

Walgreen Company Case Study
Based on the tables above, the company consisting of the shortest cash to cash cycle is Walgreen
Company. On the contrary, the longest cycle is contained by Rite Aid. Therefore, there is a leaner
operation in Walgreen compared to both CVS and Rite companies. When compared to the two
companies, Walgreen is less liquid. Due to the reduced period of cash to cash cycle, there is more
operating investment in disposal to be used in Walgreen when compared to CVS and Rite. By
considering cash to cash cycle, the best performing company is Walgreen, followed by CVS and
finally Rite Aid.
The highest return on assets from the tables above is 23.8%, which belongs to Rite Aid. CVS follows
with 6.25%, and lastly, Walgreen has 5.20%. Therefore, the most rewarding assets belong to Rite since
they achieve a higher return on investment compared to the other two companies. Out of the three
companies, Walgreen has assets with the lowest returns on investment. Basing return on assets results,
Rite Aid has the best performance, followed by CVS and finally Walgreen Company. The highest
probability is that Rite Aid knows how to utilize its resources to the optimum to achieve quality

If CVS were to start operating on a lean philosophy, various processes would become faster, e.g.,
order to cash receipt process. This would, in turn, speed up activities such as invoicing process,

Reduction in cycle time and error rates would avail more cash for paying suppliers as well as
redeployment of the business. Consequently, inventory levels would reduce while the turnover would
increase. A speeder cash collection would also be achieved with shorter cash to cash cycle. Therefore,
it would be better for CVS to operate

Beowulf Chapter 8 Summary
In chapter 8, the king s brother dies and now he has to watch his nephew. At first they like the fact that
they get to take care of his nephew but Hrothgar suspects that his nephew is going to plot against him.
Wealtheow knows that when Hrothulf grows up he will begin to despise his cousins (two brothers) and
how they will rise to the throne. Hrothulf hates the king because the rich are rich are only because the
poor are poor, and they can t become less poor, therefore he plots against him. Hrothulf only talks to a
crazy old man called Red Horse because they both have the same ideas.
One day when there is dinner back at Hart, Hrothgar watches Hrothulf sit between his sons. Hrothgar

The poem Carrickfergus was written by an Irish writer called Louis
MacNeice in The 20th Century.
The poem Carrickfergus was written by an Irish writer called Louis
MacNeice in The 20th Century. It was written in four line stanzas and now I am going to analyse this
poem and talk about each stanza.
In the first line of the first stanza, we notice that the child Louis
MacNeice is using specific detail in his poem as he says he was born in Belfast between the mountain
and the gantries. MacNeice was brought up among a lot of divisions and when there was a lot of
trouble going on, he mentions divisions in his second stanza when he says, The

In the next stanza MacNeice says that the church is to the blame for all the wrongs going on, I assume
he says this because he doesn t like the church but I believe he genuinely doesn t think the church is
too blame. All throughout this poem, MacNeice mentions the
Normans various times; I think that he is emphasizing his knowledge of
Irish history. MacNeice also tells us that his father was a rector and he was banned forever from the
candles of the Irish poor; again he is showing divisions by saying the Irish are poor. In this same
stanza he talks about the Chichesters who are a rich Irish family.
The war then starts and Louis uses sensory images; sight and sound.
The sight images he uses are the horse with long Dummies hanging from gibbets for bayonet practice,
and the sound images he uses is sentry s challenge echoing all day long. These images make the poem
more realistic. He then goes on and states that a Yorkshire terrier ran to the gate lodge, marched at
ease and sang, Who killed Cock Robin ? The troops then went out to the lodge and off to the front, the
information he is giving us here isn t too significant but it does give us an account off some troops at

produces and relishes in its essence. This corresponds to Baudelaire s flâneur not only as a passionate
spectator but also as one who sees the world, who is at the center of the world, and yet remains hidden
from it, rejoicing in his incognito. Another very important aspect of the flâneur is his ability to
comprehend and understand not only his surroundings but himself as well. He must be aware of his
being or in Baudelaire s words be like a kaleidoscope gifted with consciousness . In section forty two
he writes:
I know perfectly well my own egotism,
And know my omnivorous words, and cannot say any less.
And would fetch you whoever you are flush with myself. (44)
Here he is making it known that he is mindful of who he is and what he is saying. This is an aspect
that most ordinary people lack, but flâneurs do not. Flâneurs, like Whitman, know how to conduct
themselves in society and are present in all they do and say. There is no loss for identity, no confusion
in what is going on; there is only this awareness of all that indefinitely surrounds them in a certain
place and moment in time, within themselves and the outside world. Truth be told, there

America s Choice 1960 Presidential Campaign
History`s choice 1960 Presidential campaign What respectable person would think of the best choice
for president? There are plenty of classical case of presidential campaigns in past years. In 1960, the
Soviet Union and the United States were in the Cold War. Nevertheless, civil rights and the fight
against apartheid and other issues cause a lot of trouble. According to these historical background,
there are two politicos began to compete for president: John F. Kennedy, a young and dynamic
Massachusetts senator; Nixon, an experienced members of congress. Compared with Kennedy and
Nixon before the presidential campaign, Kennedy not only the lack of rich diplomatic experience, but
also in a disadvantaged situation of his identity of Catholics. However, Kennedy won the presidential
campaign by his unique advantage. There are several differences and similarities between Kennedy
and Nixon that cause the final result of the presidential campaign. Religion entered the campaign in
1960 as 1928 and it s importance can not be underestimated. Kennedy and Nixon have a different
religion. Many citizens voted for their religion rather than their politics. In the article, author shows us
that some protestant democrats supported Nixon for religious reasons. As a catholic, Kennedy didn`t
in a dominant position. However, Kennedy had disposed of the religious issue. On September 12,
Kennedy agreed to appear before the Ministerial Association of Houston, Texas, to present his views

Analysis Of All That Heaven Allows
The development and implementation of 3D in popular cinema shares many similarities with the
introduction of color into films. If we examine the histories of both technologies, Moana s color
analogue is Douglas Sirk s melodrama All That Heaven Allows. In terms of timeline, both come at a
point when the art form is still in between the astonishment and absorption phases of using the
technology. Though All That Heaven Allows was made around fifteen years after the first technicolor
films, the movie is still designed to have the audience notice its beautifully colored shots. Most of the
film s landscapes feel oversaturated and doctored. These exterior shots often feel more like paintings
to appreciate rather than providing context for the film s interior shots. At the same time, color doesn t
define the story and characters in the same way as early Technicolor films like Michael Curtiz s The
Adventures of Robin Hood. In those instances color acted as a constant signal of where we were in the
narrative, and formed strong associations between characters and individual colors. In All That
Heaven Allows, the color schemes don t drastically change to suit the narrative, but they re still far
from fading into the background. Sirk uses color more as an emotional cue, nudging the audience into
feeling the drama of the film. Ultimately, All That Heaven Allows is a film made in the liminal period
between astonishment and absorption of color.
Moana uses 3D in a similar manner to All That Heaven Allows, as a noticeable but ultimately
auxiliary narrative tool. In earlier digital 3D films, negative and positive parallax were used to create
discrete new worlds. Avatar and Coraline were crafted to feel entirely different when the protagonists
ventured into a different environment, similar to the color phases of Robin Hood. Moana, on the other
hand, uses 3D in a way that pervades the entire film. Rather than build new worlds, Moana uses 3D
for the emotional effect, bringing characters and objects towards and away from the audience to make
us feel. Though the purpose of the film is not to showcase 3D technology, we can t help but notice
stuff flying at us during dynamic sequences like How Far I ll Go. Rather than switching

The Film Analysis Of The Movie The Patriot
The Patriot
The Patriot is known as this action packed, adventurous movie, and most americans have watched this
movie despite the fact of its inaccuracies, also depicting america as great and the british as bad. This
movie takes place in 1776, this was before the declaration of independence was signed and a idea was
proposed about breaking away from the king and initiating a new nation was great but arguable. Not
all the americans wanted to be independent from Great Britain, there was separation between the
rebels and the colonials ,the rebels that wanted have to freedom and the Colonials that wanted to stay
faithful to the king, america was nowhere near to united. The boston incident turned into a civil war.
Later on, loyalists saw the british military as a authorized army, therefore loyalists joining the army
because they were nationalistic like the rebels. However, in the movie they point out one loyalist
because in the movie The Patriot they depict the americans in a positive light because if they stuck to
true history they couldn t do that and would make the americans look bad.
The filmmakers modified the history to put them in positive light for example they created this
American hero named Benjamin Martin they depict him to be this heroic, flawless hero but in fact he is
not even a person in history he is a made up fictional character based on francis marion and made up
of other historical figures. Furthermore, they showed america united when in fact they were

Director of Legal Aid Services Commission in New Brunswick for a seven year long term. A little
after halfway through the duration of the contract, the two parties did not see to eye and were seeking
for an early termination and began negotiations. However, during that period Mr. Potter had taken a
sick leave and the Commission promptly replaced him without waiting until the negotiation was over
and the chairperson believe that it would be in the best interest of the Commission to terminate Mr.
Potter for cause. He was then suspended indefinitely with pay and his position was transferred to
someone else. Once Mr. Potter filed an action against the Commission for constructive dismissal his
salary and benefits were cut off assuming that he had taken that action to confirm his resignation from

of the Herbivorous Butcher on January 23, 2016. Although their very successful Kickstarter campaign
claimed they wanted to open the world s first vegan butcher shop, it isn t really the first in the world.
In spite of the fact that Aubry came up with the oxymoronic title of vegan butcher spontaneously
while talking with a core group of friends and family one day, there area already other shops in the
world calling themselves vegan butchers. Their shop does appear to be the first in the U.S., but The
Vegetarian Butcher, based in The Netherlands, is credited with being the world s first meatless

Cerebroarterial Amyloidosis
Proteins play a critical role in normal human function and are made up of a sequence of amino acids
that have to be precise, to allow for proper folding to a functional three dimensional structure
(confirmation). This sequence is coded in the DNA in genes and hence any changes through mutation
or allele combinations can cause a change in the protein(s) coded, resulting in a diseased state. Such a
case is a disease called Cerebroarterial Amyloidosis, Icelandic type (CAI) that arises from a mutation
on chromosome 20 in the CST3 gene located in the short arm of the chromosome (20p11.21).1 It is an

The Concept Of Female Sexuality In Dracula By Bram Stoker
The novel of Dracula ignites a number of different anxieties in society during the era in which the
author Bram Stoker writes his book. A major theme throughout the novel is the concept of female
sexuality. Female sexuality in the novel represents and produces terror and uncertainty of the female
nature to men. The narratives of the book animate the idea that the sexual expression of women unman
the male characters. The author portrays this concept through the element of vampirism during the
course of the novel. The author in addition, brings forth the concept of repression and rejection
through violence towards women. The two main female characters of the novel represent this specific
ideology are Lucy Westenra and Mina Harker. The character of Lucy Westenra is an example of the
expression of the female nature. The traditional role of women in this time period becomes muddled
through the theme of female sexuality and old traditional ideas begin to shift. Lucy, one of the
aristocratic figures in the novel, is mainly concerned with attending parties begins to worry about
marrying a man and having money. Typical ideology of society during this time in history is for
women to be kept pure and innocent in order to appeal to a possible suitor. However, Lucy voices a
new manner of thinking when choosing a suitor, Why can t they let a girl marry three men, or as many
as want her, and save all this trouble? (Stoker 67) A girl during this era having thoughts such as these
about three men is seen be to be scandalous and practically sinful. A man can pursue a woman, but a
woman cannot engage in pursuing a relationship independently. The character of Lucy becomes
acutely confident in expressing her intimate emotions and begins to lose the ideal characteristics of a
traditional woman. The author emphasizes her beauty as the novel begins and slowly builds up on that
until she is too highly sexualized. The transformation of Lucy into a vampire is seen as a man s fear of
a woman becoming sexual predators that make them question their ability as dominate men. The
transition of Lucy can represent the release of her sexual desire that does not conform to society norms
any longer, which allows her to experience freedom from

Interpretations Of Cleopatra
b) Evaluate ancient and modern images and interpretations of Cleopatra VII
Images and interpretations of a person can change over time. Such movement is paralleled with
changes in opinion and morals throughout generations. Cleopatra the seventh is subject to this
fluctuation. Ancient images and interpretations differ greatly to the impression left today merely by
her name. Chris Dumasis, a modern day historian amplifies this theory in Interpretations of Cleopatra .
She argues, women have been demeaned of their true substance since the early time of patriarchal
society. Taken into account, this argument entails that when studying ancient sources it must be

The long nose and pointed chin are two distinct features of Cleopatra that are demonstrated by the
image on the coin that sepeate her from those that play her today. In his A.D. 75 Life of Antony
Plutarch himself professes, Her actual beauty ... was not so remarkable that none could be compared
with her... but the contact of her presence ... was irresistible . As a consequence, it can be understood
that it is ancient sources that possibly provide the truest image of her, being from the period of her life.
That is not to say however, that ancient sources have incorporated a complete truth. This can be seen
with the evidence provided by Roman and Latin sources.
In An Ancient Roman Perspective , Gemma Wilson s account for Rome s feelings towards the Queen
is one of great hostility. According to Wilson, at best, the Romans viewed Cleopatra with suspicion. At
worst, they hated her. Cleopatra was of coarse despised for utilizing the two public figures of Rome s
world, Caesar initially and then Mark Antony. Peter Roberts describes how it was Octavian that
initiated Rome s hatred towards Rome, relying on sexual slander to tarnish her reputation. Many
Roman poets continued this tradition of condemnation such as Lucan in Pharsalia , referring to
Cleopatra as Egypt s shame. Horace continues to embellish this image; the queen, with a contaminated
gang of creatures in his Ode XXXVII, referring to

Importance Of A Lightbulb Moment
A lightbulb moment. My writing process has officially kicked off with the lightbulb moment. This is
the moment when the first line of my paper pops in my head or I have a sense of direction in where
the paper is headed. I can depend on the fact that this will not happen by staring at a blinking cursor
on a blank page. Some of my better lightbulb moments have been on the bus heading home or the
second I get into bed to go to sleep that is why my mom always taught me to keep post its and a pen in
my nightstand! I usually like to give myself at least a couple days to write my paper, edit the paper,
and to make sure I have an effective mic drop at the end, as my English teacher last year said.
However, seeing as I am starting this paper the night before it is due, I should also mention that I have
no problem starting last minute if I know what I am going to say and essentially have the framework
of a paper in my head. The lightbulb moment is the hardest to control, but a critical part to my writing
process.
The setting in which I write my paper is the easiest to control, and also a critical part to my writing
process. I find that the setting changes with each type of paper. I write at my desk in my room for the
average paper, especially if I am feeling confident in how the paper is going so far. I can play music in
the background and am two floors up from the kitchen and the family room, thereby avoiding
distractions. If it is a paper that is intimidating by name, like my

The Problem Of Social Psychology
Social psychology is the study of how people think, feel, and act as a result of being present among
others. At times, a direct contact is not required to fully influence a person. The imagined or implied
presence of others is sufficient to carry out a full effect on another person. Examples to portray how
the impact of others can have an authority over the way we function socially can be found almost
anywhere around us. The media is filled with many examples from recent headlines that may offer an
illustration of this phenomenon. In recent news, the National Public Radio (NPR), a non profit
membership media organization, aired an interview discussing Syria s bloody civil war. With more
than four million people who have fled the country thus far, it has easily been named one of the worst
refugee situations in history. Millions more have also been displaced within Syria. Although we rarely
hear from the people inside, NPR was able to air an interview it conducted with one of the citizens
who lives in the broken country. Saeed al Batal, a photographer and filmmaker who did not use his
real name for security reasons, reveals how horrific the experiences currently are in Syria. In this
paper, the transcript of the interview will be used portray how, even when situations are clearly
appalling and catastrophic, the presence of others effects people s contributions and willingness to
help. It will also be used to psychologically understand why people help, why people do not, when

Reasons Why the United States Failed in the Vietnam War
President Johnson ordered revenge air strikes against the patrol boat s bases. After that, Congress had
approved the resolution eighty eight to two and Johnson had been granted the powers to prosecute the
war in Vietnam. Senator Wayne Morse or Oregon voted against it, reminding McNamara that the
North Vietnamese patrol boat attacks had been provoked by U.S. presence in Tonkin Bay (Armstrong
52). It was apparent that the past of American policy in South Vietnam seemed to be leading America
into war. The United States had affiliated themselves with a policy that was a form of American
colonialism, of saving U.S. interests at the cost of the Vietnamese people. The Tonkin Resolution was
evidence. Prior to the war President Franklin D. Roosevelt had stated that American policy should be
changed, but no steps were taken to change it. In 1954, the U.S. refused to sign the Geneva Accord, so
from then on America claimed that North Vietnam was violating the accord by sending help to the
rebels against the South Vietnamese Government. But we decided not to go to the countries that
signed the agreement and who were responsible for its enforcement. But, instead we violated by
joining in the fighting. Every American person or item that was sent to South Vietnam was a violation.

History of R. Buckminister Fuller Essay
History of R. Buckminister Fuller
Fuller was most famous for his geodesic domes, which can be seen as part of military radar stations,
civic buildings, and exhibition attractions. Their construction is based on extending some basic
principles to build simple tensegrity structures (tetrahedron, octahedron, and the closest packing of
spheres). Built in this way they are extremely lightweight and stable. The patent for geodesic domes
was awarded in 1954, part of Fuller s decades long efforts to explore nature s constructing principles
to find design solutions.
Previously, Fuller had designed and built prototypes of what he hoped would be a safer, aerodynamic

In 1943, industrialist Henry J. Kaiser asked Fuller to develop a prototype for a smaller car, and Fuller
designed a five seater; the car never went into the development or production stages.
Another of Fuller s ideas was the alternative projection Dymaxion Map. This was designed to show
the Earth s continents with minimum distortion when projected or printed on a flat surface.
Fuller s energy efficient and low cost Dymaxion houses garnered much interest, but have never gone
into production. Here the term Dymaxion is used in effect to signify a radically strong and light
tensegrity structure . One of Fuller s Dymaxion Houses is on display as a permanent exhibit at the
Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. Designed and developed in the mid 1940s, this prototype
is a round structure (though not a dome) shaped something like the flattened bell of certain jellyfish. It
has several other innovative features, including revolving dresser drawers, and a fine mist shower that
reduces water consumption. According to Fuller biographer Steve Crooks, the house was designed to
be delivered in two cylindrical packages, with interior color panels available at local dealers premises.
A circular structure at the top of the house was designed to rotate around a central mast to take
advantage of natural winds for cooling and air circulation.

The Pros And Cons Of Hunger
No Hunger: Conquering World Hunger
Thousands of people all over the world are hungry every single day. It is selfish to eat surplus amounts
of food and waste even more when some people do not even have clean water to drink. According to
the Merriam Webster dictionary, the definition of hunger is A weakened condition brought about by
prolonged lack of food (Merriam Webster s dictionary, n.d.). That is exactly it. Food and water are two
basic requirements that humans need to survive, and deficiency of these can cause serious health
problems. Hunger is a global problem that needs to be fixed. The majority of people who suffer from
hunger are located in Africa, and a large number of these people are in the Central African Republic
(World Hunger, 2016).
Suffering from hunger creates malnourishment, which can do terrible things to the body.
Malnourishment puts a person at risk for many diseases and can even cause death in severe cases.
Wasting and stunting are two common effects of malnourishment. Many health risks would be
eliminated if world hunger is solved. If the number of yearly cases of hunger related diseases is
reduced, this will improve healthcare worldwide and make the jobs of nurses easier. There are many
things America, as a more economically developed country, can do to help. The sustainable
development goal #2 is to have no hunger in the world, and nurses are needed to treat the patients who
suffer from it (United Nations Development Programme, 2015).

helped me to feel more comfortable on stage during my following competitions, when I wasn t very
comfortable at all at this one. The judges give lots of encouragement in the critiques, and getting
hardly any actual critiques is very reassuring. Competitions are now less intimidating, and It s a lot
easier for me to just go out and dance and not having to

Sl 2 Thermometer
Discussion
The results of this lab helped determine which tools are best to measure different objects. In Station 1,
a yellow metric ruler, an orange metric ruler, a wooden ruler, and a measuring tape was used. The tool
with the highest degree certainty was the orange metric ruler. This is because the orange ruler had tick
marks for each 10th(0.1). The tool with the lowest degree of certainty was the measuring tape because
it kept moving and it was difficult to keep it straight. For Station 2, a wall clock, a digital stopwatch,
and a timer was used. The tool that had the most accurate measurement was the digital stopwatch
because it measured into the 10th(0.1) place automatically. The tool that was least accurate was the
wall clock because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tool with the highest degree of certainty was the non mercury thermometer because it didn t have
to be calibrated and there were tick marks to make the measurement more accurate. The tool that had
the smallest degree of certainty was the dial 2 thermometer because it very wide. This caused the
measurement to be harder to make. In Station 4, a spring scale, an electric balance, an analytic
balance, and a one pay balance was used. The most accurate tool was electric balance because no
calculations or estimations needed to be made. The least accurate tool was the spring scale because the
scale kept moving and block couldn t be measured without a basket carrying it, making the
measurement inaccurate. In Station 5, a graduated cylinder, a beaker, and an Erlenmeyer flask was
used. The tool that had the highest degree of certainty was the graduated cylinder because there were
more ticks. This made the measurement more accurate because the water level was closer to the
markings. The least accurate tool was the Erlenmeyer flask because the spaces between the markings
were large so the whole number had to be guesstimated. In station 6, #1 was accurate because the X s
exactly on the lines. #2 was precise because multiple X s were close to

The Relational Model For Data Storage
Abstract
The relational model, which uses predefined tabular relations to store data, has remained the
preeminent model for data storage since it was first implemented in the early 1980s. However, due to
the proliferation of the Internet, today data flows in and out of organizations quickly, and most of this
data is in a semi structured state that is designed for communication over http. It is difficult to fit this
complex data into a flat two dimensional array. For that reason, it is imperative that companies have
the ability to store data in a semi structured format compatible with modern network communications
as well as various platforms and devices. The market has realized this and responded with document
stores that support formats, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the proliferation of the Internet in the late twentieth century has changed the database
landscape rapidly and drastically.
Today, interconnected networks around the globe stream data to a profusion of devices that range from
powerful mainframe supercomputers, and massive grids of commodity machines to smartphones and
tiny single board computers embedded in home appliances. Most of the flow of data is done through
the Internet or over other large TCP/IP networks that utilize HTTP communications. For that reason,
most of this data is in a semi structured state that is designed not for storage in a relational database,
but for communication over HTTP. This data often arrives and leaves in a voluminous stream. It is
therefore difficult for organizations to convert the data quickly to and from a format that is conforms
to the rigid tabular structure of a relational schema.
Support for semi structured data is integral to the collection and storage of data in the Internet age.
While the relational model is sill a good long term storage solution, organizations must be able to
store and query semi structured data that is in a format compatible with HTTP communication because
almost all modern devices use this medium of communication. While XML can serve as a solution to
this problem, JSON, a condensed format that is based on the well known JavaScript language, has
many benefits over XML which I will

something about it. The King ordered the maids to watch over his wife while he looked for a cure for
her illness in the kingdom. He got a group of soldiers that same day to find a cure for his wife to get
better. All the soldiers and himself went looking all over the kingdom for a special plant that can heal
anything or anyone. The King separated the soldiers and the king went riding his horse deep in the
forest where he found a garden in the forest and that garden had the most beautiful flower, the flower

The Importance of Self-Awareness in Counselling
HOW DOES A COUNSELLOR DIFFER FROM A FRIEND? Folashade Oloniyo Abstract In this
essay, the characteristics of a counsellor and a friend will be expanded upon in order to gain a greater
knowledge for deciphering the two. We all have been in situations where we hit a brick wall in our life
and are unsure of the next step or the next move to make. We have close friends to whom we can turn
and reach out to, but in some situations, are they really our best option for help? Friends are needed
for support on many levels, but on others, professional reinforcement may be of greater good. With
that said, I challenge you the reader and ask the questions: What is counselling? How does a
counsellor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I told her that as long as she keeps the door to her life open, he will continue to come back and let
himself in. she says its hard, that she s afraid to let him go and stand alone. My question to her was,
are you happy now? He sleeps with you when he needs a fix, but lives with another woman and their
child. You can t tell me that you re happy. It may hurt for a while, but trust me; you ll thank God that
you did it in the end. I m sorry about your loss, and please don t get upset when I say this, but I do
believe everything happens for a reason. You should deem this your second chance. I could feel she
didn t like my delivery, but I also felt that I was heard. All I can do is hope and pray that my words
solidify in the back of her mind. As a counsellor, you have an obligation to remain objective and non
judgmental at whatever is said to you by your client. I can recall feeling slightly judgmental; I thought
to myself that my client/friend was making completely unhealthy and unwise decisions. Her actions
were so silly and desperate and completely opposite to how I would have acted. I attempted to transfer
my views as diplomatically as possible, trying not to cause a wall of defense to be built. In an actual
client and counsellor setting, this type of thinking definitely defies objectivity standpoints that
counsellors should ensue. Objectivity is

  • 4. Women s Brains By Gould Summary Gould proves to his readers the amount of bias that is involved with some scientific discoveries such as Broca s. Broca was a Physician, who lived from 1824 to 1880. He is most famously known for his realization of the importance in the frontal lobe of our brains, this part of our brain is now known as the Broca. Gould who was an evolutionary biologist, amongst other things, wrote a paper disproving Scientists previous study of women s inferiority due to their smaller skulls. Gould no only disproves an incorrect social analysis in Women s Brains , he proves science s true fickleness. Near the beginning of his essay he says, But science is an inferential exercise, not a catalog of facts. Numbers, by themselves, specify nothing. All depends upon what you do with them. He could not have been more right. Gould goes through Broca s paper and proves that it is not scientific data that incorrectly supported the intelligence level of women, but actually the incorrect science that proves an incorrect point. ... Some time periods believe the table is set up according to atomic mass, while others believe it is because of atomic number. • 5. Fast Car Tracy Chapman Poetic Techniques The song Fast Car by Tracy Chapman revolves around who we assume is Chapman, or another first person point of view, and their lover. They both are itching to get out of the town they re living in and move to the city. Chapman ends up coming to terms and accepting her situation in the city, while her lover is the opposite. In Fast Car , Chapman uses juxtaposition and subtle changes in her repetition to convey the idea that the feeling of escape is fleeting unless you actively work to make the best of your situation. In the song, the speaker is Chapman herself, or a character she has created. They seem to be talking to the antagonist, her partner, but it s not clear whether she s talking to them face to face or not. The whole song is about their elopement from their old town to the city, and them either coming to terms with their new life or still not being satisfied. This theme continues later when she says, I got a job that pays all our bills / you stay out drinking late at the bar / see more of your friends than you do your kids (49 50). • 6. Prostitution And The Act Of Prostitution The world s oldest profession, also known as prostitution, is considered a grey area in morality (Thiroux). Prostitution is defined as selling oneself or one s talents for base purpose (Agnes). Contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of arguments for prostitution and the act of prostitution becoming legal. Coinciding with popular belief, there are more arguments against the act of prostitution being legalized. While some consider the act of prostitution to be an immoral act others will consider it a victimless crime. Most people consider it to be immoral and use arguments such as it cause crimes, spreads social diseases and AIDS and it is extramarital and commercialized. The opposing argument, which is for the act of prostitution say that it, is a victimless crime, is a safe sexual release and is not socially acceptable and it could be controlled by the government (Thiroux). The underlying question now asks, is the act of prostitution moral? If you were to mention prostitution to someone, they will typically react with disgust. Furthering the conversation on the topic and mentioning legalizing prostitution will be followed with shock or laughter. Prostitution is a major part of what we call the Sex Industry, which involves all personnel that are involved in both legal and illegal varieties of sexual commerce. For the most part, people don t always know everything about an issue before they offer their opinion; sometimes they don t know anything at all, but they still give their input anyway. Having our views is a form of communicating with others, like understanding where someone stands on certain issues or arguing for facts. . Opinions should always be backed up with evidence. Most of us grew up believing that we are entitled to our own opinions, but I m starting to question whether we have the freedom to share our views with others if those views aren t supported by evidence. In the essay, Opinion Rights, Jamie Whyte argues that, we are not really entitled to our opinions, nor should we be, because such an entitlement is the enemy of intellectual progress (13). Does having our own opinions diminish our intellectual progress? I don t agree with Whyte s statement that those who feel entitled to an opinion are the enemies of intellectual progress. • 10. Food And Eating In Christianity And Hinduism Food and eating are at the centre of Christianity and Hinduism for centuries. The Fall of Adam and Eve, after eating the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden, is one of the central tropes in the Western discourses. A special kind of food becomes a cause for the first man and woman s damnation, and ironically, I argue, a new opportunity to control the new dominion . God commands, specifically, what requirements man should fulfill, including what he needs to eat in order to secure his union with the god. Food, therefore, can work to uplift man to heaven if chosen accordingly, or could be a cause for his damnation to hell. Hinduism, in a similar fashion, observes food as an important aspect of life and afterlife. It depends upon man s choice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jaques opposes the violence to animals in their own territory, and reminds Duke Senior about animals similarities to human beings, they are fat and greasy citizens (2.1.55). The humanisation of animals and the necessity of human beings to understand the importance of respecting their value corresponds to the idea of prelapsarian world where Adam and Eve lived in harmony with the animals. They lived in a world where animals had human sensitivity, and were free of any human interference. Violence against any creature was not imagined in the prelapsarian world. Joan Fitzpatrick argues that Shakespeare may have strange sympathy for vegetarianism, especially in those plays where pastoralism features (Renaissance Food from Rabelais to Shakespeare: Culinary Readings and Culinary Histories 140). In the similar vein, the Hindu scriptures describe about the creation of the world where the first men on earth all of them were the sages with different capacities lived together with the animals in a completely harmonious natural environment. • 12. Worldview In The Bhagavad Git A Reflection The Significance of Worldview in The Bhagavad Gita : A Reflection One s worldview is immensely influential in every aspect of a person s life. In The Bhagavad Gita , the importance of having a strong viewpoint is displayed through the actions of Arjuna and Krishna. This epic is a great example of how one s worldview impacts one s actions and decisions. Additionally, Arjuna discovers how trying it can be to keep hold of his outlook on life when faced with difficult situations. The Gita is an accurate illustration of how one s worldview persuades the actions and decision making of a person because of Arjuna s worldview, the theme of karma and dharma, and how one s world view effects every aspect of a person s life. Arjuna is a unique character because of the worldview he holds. Hindus in The Bhagavad Gita hold the value of life slightly lower than most because they have the security of reincarnation to rely on. However, Arjuna is different than many Hindus because he values life to a higher degree than others. In lines 28 30, Arjuna s value of human life is accurately displayed. Krishna, I see my kinsmen gathered here, wanting war. My limbs sink, my mouth trembles, the hair bristles on my flesh. The magic bow slips from my hand, my skin burns, I cannot stand still, my mind reels (Miller, 2004). Arjuna being struck with grief while watching his family members about to lose their lives exemplifies how his worldview is filled with empathy. Krishna, encouraging Arjuna to fight in the war and not to worry about the lives of his family, sparked the conversation about reincarnation. Krishna did not find death enough of a reason to cease fighting. There was no fear of death for most Hindus because their soul would simply be placed in a new life, possibly a better one. That is displayed in teaching two line 37 when Lord Krishna states: If you are killed, you win heaven; if you triumph, you enjoy the earth; therefore Arjuna, stand up and resolve to fight the battle! (Miller, 2004). Krishna s viewpoint did not portray what Arjuna believed clearly because Arjuna had empathy for human life, whereas Krishna did not fret over a lost life. Economic Policies Of El Salvador And Other Nations Essay Dollarization: A Comparison of Economic Policies in El Salvador and Other Nations Dollarization is the process in which nations replace their domestic currencies [with foreign legal tender] ...to obtain economic growth and stability (Rivera Solis 330). The US dollar is the most common choice of exchange in this practice, though the adoption of other first world states currencies may be entertained as well. Though its effects are not instant, US dollarization has brought many gradual benefits to the economic statuses of several countries. There are two types of dollarization: official and unofficial. In the process of official dollarization, a state gives complete monetary control to a foreign nation, ceding its right to both create a central bank and issue a domestic form of currency. Where as a nation loses its sovereignty to make decisions concerning its money supply in official dollarization, unofficial dollarization allows states to keep most of its control in place. Nations who implement dollarization unofficially keep their ability to own a central bank to fall back on, in cases of economic emergency, and regulate their own currency. Some studies encourage the promotion of official dollarization, while other scorn it s outcome and option for its slighter counterpart, partial dollarization, instead. This paper explores the differences in both policies and the effects of dollarization on four separate nations: El Salvador, Panama, Zimbabwe, and the British Virgin ... MacNeice also tells us that his father was a rector and he was banned forever from the candles of the Irish poor; again he is showing divisions by saying the Irish are poor. In this same stanza he talks about the Chichesters who are a rich Irish family. The war then starts and Louis uses sensory images; sight and sound. The sight images he uses are the horse with long Dummies hanging from gibbets for bayonet practice, and the sound images he uses is sentry s challenge echoing all day long. These images make the poem more realistic. He then goes on and states that a Yorkshire terrier ran to the gate lodge, marched at ease and sang, Who killed Cock Robin ? Usually, these same people go about their business with no more than a passing glance towards their fellow man. However, there is an enigmatic few that are more than mere pawns in the game of existence. They are passionate spectators who take in their surroundings with every sense. They rejoice in the vastness of the electric crowd and become one with it. By all means, these few can be called idle city men or, according to Charles Baudelaire s 1863 essay The Painter of Modern Life , they are flâneurs. He begins the section with I think I will do nothing for a long time but listen. (24) Here the persona is invisible to the outside world, simply watching and waiting, responding to every single sound the city produces and relishes in its essence. This corresponds to Baudelaire s flâneur not only as a passionate spectator but also as one who sees the world, who is at the center of the world, and yet remains hidden from it, rejoicing in his incognito. Another very important aspect of the flâneur is his ability to comprehend and understand not only his surroundings but himself as well. He must be aware of his being or in Baudelaire s words be like a kaleidoscope gifted with consciousness . In section forty two he writes: I know perfectly well my own egotism, And know my omnivorous words, and cannot say any less. And would fetch you whoever you are flush with myself. • 22. Analysis Of All That Heaven Allows The development and implementation of 3D in popular cinema shares many similarities with the introduction of color into films. If we examine the histories of both technologies, Moana s color analogue is Douglas Sirk s melodrama All That Heaven Allows. In terms of timeline, both come at a point when the art form is still in between the astonishment and absorption phases of using the technology. Though All That Heaven Allows was made around fifteen years after the first technicolor films, the movie is still designed to have the audience notice its beautifully colored shots. Most of the film s landscapes feel oversaturated and doctored. These exterior shots often feel more like paintings to appreciate rather than providing context for the film s interior shots. At the same time, color doesn t define the story and characters in the same way as early Technicolor films like Michael Curtiz s The Adventures of Robin Hood. In those instances color acted as a constant signal of where we were in the narrative, and formed strong associations between characters and individual colors. In All That Heaven Allows, the color schemes don t drastically change to suit the narrative, but they re still far from fading into the background. Sirk uses color more as an emotional cue, nudging the audience into feeling the drama of the film. Ultimately, All That Heaven Allows is a film made in the liminal period between astonishment and absorption of color. Moana uses 3D in a similar manner to All That Heaven Allows, as a noticeable but ultimately auxiliary narrative tool. In earlier digital 3D films, negative and positive parallax were used to create discrete new worlds. Avatar and Coraline were crafted to feel entirely different when the protagonists ventured into a different environment, similar to the color phases of Robin Hood. Moana, on the other hand, uses 3D in a way that pervades the entire film. Rather than build new worlds, Moana uses 3D for the emotional effect, bringing characters and objects towards and away from the audience to make us feel. Though the purpose of the film is not to showcase 3D technology, we can t help but notice stuff flying at us during dynamic sequences like How Far I ll Go. Rather than switching ... • 24. The Film Analysis Of The Movie The Patriot The Patriot The Patriot is known as this action packed, adventurous movie, and most americans have watched this movie despite the fact of its inaccuracies, also depicting america as great and the british as bad. This movie takes place in 1776, this was before the declaration of independence was signed and a idea was proposed about breaking away from the king and initiating a new nation was great but arguable. Not all the americans wanted to be independent from Great Britain, there was separation between the rebels and the colonials ,the rebels that wanted have to freedom and the Colonials that wanted to stay faithful to the king, america was nowhere near to united. The boston incident turned into a civil war. Later on, loyalists saw the british military as a authorized army, therefore loyalists joining the army because they were nationalistic like the rebels. However, in the movie they point out one loyalist because in the movie The Patriot they depict the americans in a positive light because if they stuck to true history they couldn t do that and would make the americans look bad. The filmmakers modified the history to put them in positive light for example they created this American hero named Benjamin Martin they depict him to be this heroic, flawless hero but in fact he is not even a person in history he is a made up fictional character based on francis marion and made up of other historical figures. • 28. The Concept Of Female Sexuality In Dracula By Bram Stoker The novel of Dracula ignites a number of different anxieties in society during the era in which the author Bram Stoker writes his book. A major theme throughout the novel is the concept of female sexuality. Female sexuality in the novel represents and produces terror and uncertainty of the female nature to men. The narratives of the book animate the idea that the sexual expression of women unman the male characters. The author portrays this concept through the element of vampirism during the course of the novel. The author in addition, brings forth the concept of repression and rejection through violence towards women. The two main female characters of the novel represent this specific ideology are Lucy Westenra and Mina Harker. The character of Lucy Westenra is an example of the expression of the female nature. The traditional role of women in this time period becomes muddled through the theme of female sexuality and old traditional ideas begin to shift. Lucy, one of the aristocratic figures in the novel, is mainly concerned with attending parties begins to worry about marrying a man and having money. Typical ideology of society during this time in history is for women to be kept pure and innocent in order to appeal to a possible suitor. However, Lucy voices a new manner of thinking when choosing a suitor, Why can t they let a girl marry three men, or as many as want her, and save all this trouble? (Stoker 67) A girl during this era having thoughts such as these about three men is seen be to be scandalous and practically sinful. A man can pursue a woman, but a woman cannot engage in pursuing a relationship independently. The character of Lucy becomes acutely confident in expressing her intimate emotions and begins to lose the ideal characteristics of a traditional woman. The author emphasizes her beauty as the novel begins and slowly builds up on that until she is too highly sexualized. The transformation of Lucy into a vampire is seen as a man s fear of a woman becoming sexual predators that make them question their ability as dominate men. The transition of Lucy can represent the release of her sexual desire that does not conform to society norms any longer, which allows her to experience freedom from ... Some of my better lightbulb moments have been on the bus heading home or the second I get into bed to go to sleep that is why my mom always taught me to keep post its and a pen in my nightstand! I usually like to give myself at least a couple days to write my paper, edit the paper, and to make sure I have an effective mic drop at the end, as my English teacher last year said. At times, a direct contact is not required to fully influence a person. The imagined or implied presence of others is sufficient to carry out a full effect on another person. Examples to portray how the impact of others can have an authority over the way we function socially can be found almost anywhere around us. The media is filled with many examples from recent headlines that may offer an illustration of this phenomenon. In recent news, the National Public Radio (NPR), a non profit membership media organization, aired an interview discussing Syria s bloody civil war. Senator Wayne Morse or Oregon voted against it, reminding McNamara that the North Vietnamese patrol boat attacks had been provoked by U.S. presence in Tonkin Bay (Armstrong 52). It was apparent that the past of American policy in South Vietnam seemed to be leading America into war. The United States had affiliated themselves with a policy that was a form of American colonialism, of saving U.S. interests at the cost of the Vietnamese people. The Tonkin Resolution was evidence. Prior to the war President Franklin D. Roosevelt had stated that American policy should be changed, but no steps were taken to change it. In 1954, the U.S. refused to sign the Geneva Accord, so from then on America claimed that North Vietnam was violating the accord by sending help to the rebels against the South Vietnamese Government. • 43. Sl 2 Thermometer Discussion The results of this lab helped determine which tools are best to measure different objects. In Station 1, a yellow metric ruler, an orange metric ruler, a wooden ruler, and a measuring tape was used. The tool with the highest degree certainty was the orange metric ruler. This is because the orange ruler had tick marks for each 10th(0.1). The tool with the lowest degree of certainty was the measuring tape because it kept moving and it was difficult to keep it straight. For Station 2, a wall clock, a digital stopwatch, and a timer was used. The tool that had the most accurate measurement was the digital stopwatch because it measured into the 10th(0.1) place automatically. The tool that was least accurate was the wall clock because ... The tool with the highest degree of certainty was the non mercury thermometer because it didn t have to be calibrated and there were tick marks to make the measurement more accurate. The tool that had the smallest degree of certainty was the dial 2 thermometer because it very wide. This caused the measurement to be harder to make. In Station 4, a spring scale, an electric balance, an analytic balance, and a one pay balance was used. The most accurate tool was electric balance because no calculations or estimations needed to be made. The least accurate tool was the spring scale because the scale kept moving and block couldn t be measured without a basket carrying it, making the measurement inaccurate. In Station 5, a graduated cylinder, a beaker, and an Erlenmeyer flask was used. The tool that had the highest degree of certainty was the graduated cylinder because there were more ticks. This made the measurement more accurate because the water level was closer to the markings. The least accurate tool was the Erlenmeyer flask because the spaces between the markings were large so the whole number had to be guesstimated. In station 6, #1 was accurate because the X s exactly on the lines. #2 was precise because multiple X s were close to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Relational Model For Data Storage Abstract The relational model, which uses predefined tabular relations to store data, has remained the preeminent model for data storage since it was first implemented in the early 1980s. However, due to the proliferation of the Internet, today data flows in and out of organizations quickly, and most of this data is in a semi structured state that is designed for communication over http. It is difficult to fit this complex data into a flat two dimensional array. For that reason, it is imperative that companies have the ability to store data in a semi structured format compatible with modern network communications as well as various platforms and devices. The market has realized this and responded with document stores that support formats, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the proliferation of the Internet in the late twentieth century has changed the database landscape rapidly and drastically. Today, interconnected networks around the globe stream data to a profusion of devices that range from powerful mainframe supercomputers, and massive grids of commodity machines to smartphones and tiny single board computers embedded in home appliances. Most of the flow of data is done through the Internet or over other large TCP/IP networks that utilize HTTP communications. For that reason, most of this data is in a semi structured state that is designed not for storage in a relational database, but for communication over HTTP. This data often arrives and leaves in a voluminous stream. It is therefore difficult for organizations to convert the data quickly to and from a format that is conforms to the rigid tabular structure of a relational schema. Support for semi structured data is integral to the collection and storage of data in the Internet age. While the relational model is sill a good long term storage solution, organizations must be able to store and query semi structured data that is in a format compatible with HTTP communication because almost all modern devices use this medium of communication. While XML can serve as a solution to this problem, JSON, a condensed format that is based on the well known JavaScript language, has many benefits over XML which I will ... I told her that as long as she keeps the door to her life open, he will continue to come back and let himself in. she says its hard, that she s afraid to let him go and stand alone. My question to her was, are you happy now? He sleeps with you when he needs a fix, but lives with another woman and their child. You can t tell me that you re happy. It may hurt for a while, but trust me; you ll thank God that you did it in the end. I m sorry about your loss, and please don t get upset when I say this, but I do believe everything happens for a reason. You should deem this your second chance. I could feel she didn t like my delivery, but I also felt that I was heard. All I can do is hope and pray that my words solidify in the back of her mind. As a counsellor, you have an obligation to remain objective and non judgmental at whatever is said to you by your client. I can recall feeling slightly judgmental; I thought to myself that my client/friend was making completely unhealthy and unwise decisions. Her actions were so silly and desperate and completely opposite to how I would have acted. I attempted to transfer my views as diplomatically as possible, trying not to cause a wall of defense to be built. In an actual client and counsellor setting, this type of thinking definitely defies objectivity standpoints that counsellors should ensue. Objectivity is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
