Television has evolved significantly since its invention in the late 1800s. Paul Gottlieb Nipkow created the first basic system using a rotating disk and wires to transmit images. Philo Farnsworth later invented the first working television system using cathode ray tubes in 1927, which all modern TVs are based on. Television started in black and white but is now in color with many more channels. It has grown with the digital age and changed from large bulky sets to thinner models with remotes. Television now provides both entertainment and information to vast audiences.
