Cultural Diversity In The Film And Television Industry
In addition to considering myself a champion of the supporting cast of the films and shows I regularly
watch, I also do appreciate and value diversity within the film and television industry. While I may not
voice my concerns publicly about the traditional lack of diversity within the industry, I regard this
issue as one amongst a whole host of others that are vital to the ongoing success of this business. For
whatever reason, I tend to have a heart for Asians within the industry who have exceptional talent and
deserve to be recognized. In the case of Nelson Wong, I have noticed his work for several years now,
so reaching out and asking him a few questions about his career is an action that matches perfectly not
only with my own beliefs and value system, but certainly with the Hallmark network as well.
Although the Christmas movies are past, I am honored to be able to share the career and thoughts of
this astounding actor and benevolent human being.

Michael Jordan And Lebron James
On every level of basketball there are players that have shined on and off the court, this is true for two
great players like Michael Jordan and LeBron James. The debate over who is the best player between
these two great athletes, has divided sports fans since LeBron earned his first Finals Championship.

Violent Lyrics Promote Violence In Society
A high schooler sits in a bus en route to school. Even with his earphones in and music playing from
his own phone, he overhears a song played by someone else that makes him uncomfortable.
You and your husband have a fight/One of you tries to grab a knife, and during the struggle/He
accidentally gets his Adam s apple sliced (No!)/And while this is going on, his son just woke up/And
he walks in, she panics/And he gets his throat cut (Oh my God!)/So now they both dead, and you slash
your own throat/So now it s double homicide and suicide with no note. (Preezy)
He sees the group of students bobbing their heads to the beat of the song. Do they even care about the
message behind the lyrics? This song is called Kim by Eminem, and it s included in a website article
that lists fifty rap songs with violent lyrics. Song lyrics, whether they are good or bad, have a profound
effect on people s lives. The varieties of music are accepted by many. However, throughout the years,
there has been an increased acceptance of songs that promote violence. This has led some to research
the effect these violent songs can have on people and society as a whole. Aggressive lyrics encourages
violence in society because such music increases negative emotions and thoughts, influences
aggressive behavior, and affect the upbringing of children and adolescents.

The Influence Of Resveratrol Supplementation On Various...
Cardiovascular disease has become one of the leading causes of death worldwide (1). In their
textbook, Smolin and colleagues state that resveratrol [...] may help to prevent cardiovascular disease
(2, p.479). Indeed, observational studies have provided evidence that populations that regularly
consume substantial amount of the compound resveratrol also have a lower incidence of
cardiovascular disease (CVD) (3,4). One meta analysis calculated that drinking 150 mL of red wine
(containing resveratrol) per day provided the optimal protection from cardiovascular disease (5).
However, no experimental evidence exists to directly link resveratrol supplementation with incidence
of cardiovascular disease. A growing body of experimental evidence ... Show more content on

Twenty healthy, age matched (36 years of age, on average) subjects were randomized to either receive
200 mg of Polygonum cuspidatum extract (PCE) (containing 40 mg of resveratrol) or a placebo daily
for 6 weeks. Blood samples were collected at baseline and at 1, 3 and 6 weeks. Oxidative stress was
determined by analyzing blood for reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. Inflammatory state was
determined by assessing nuclear NFKB DNA binding activity (via gel shift assay) and TNFα mRNA
expression (via PCR testing). Resveratrol supplementation was found to significantly reduce ROS
generation, NFKB DNA binding activity, and TNFα mRNA expression compared to both baseline and
the placebo group at 3 and 6 weeks. (see figure 1). The authors therefore concluded that 6 weeks of a
resveratrol containing supplement could reduce both oxidative stress and inflammation. A major
weakness of the study is that the authors failed to report the sex of the subjects making it challenging
to compare these findings with other studies. Furthermore, this study used a PCE supplement, which
contains several other antioxidants in addition to resveratrol. The possibility therefore remains that
these other compounds or an interaction effect could have been responsible for some of changes that
were observed.
A study conducted by Yoshino and colleagues was conducted to determine the

The Effects Of Fast Food On Children
Did you know that 30% of children ages 6 to 11 are overweight? 15.3% of children ages 6 to 11 are
obese? The impact obesity has on a child can become life changing. According to the CDC if current
trends continue, 1 of 3 U.S. adults will have diabetes by 2050 (Evans, W, 2006). Behind the mask of
obesity is a child that falls into the trap of fast food advertisement. Overall, the fast food industry
should be more socially responsible and not direct their marketing strategy of unhealthy food choices
to children; this will cut down the percentage of children suffering from childhood obesity that leads
to various health issues.
One might object here, that it is a free market and freedom of speech is part of the U.S. Constitution.
However, everyone has a different opinion about fast food and boudaries must be respected. Still the
fast food market is targeting children too often and too much, even involving Schools to advertise
unhealthy food in exchange for funding. One may argue, children learn by example, parents are
responsible for leading them in the right direction of how to make healthy food choices. With this
being said, parents are beginning to become concerned with how the fast food is being marketed to
children.
One of the largest leading industries known as fast food continues to market unhealthy promotions,
targeting young minds. Children watch an average of over ten related food advertisements daily, and
(nearly 4,000 per year) (Powell LM, S. R. 2011).

Arguments Against Circular Reasoning
Logic, as most people know, is the art and science of reasoning well. Studied logicians use facts to
craft clear, convincing arguments that support various positions. Correct arguments state reliable facts
or premises, as some call them and then draw a conclusion based on those facts. Only a single error in
an argument can bring the whole thing crashing down, which causes the debater to lose both the point
and part of their reputability. Circular reasoning has become one fault that occurs far too often.
Dictionary.com, which research shows as a reputable website, defines circular reasoning as a use of
reason in which the premises depends on or is equivalent to the conclusion, a method of false logic by
which this is used to prove that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, it requires circular reasoning in order for the text to so prove itself. Since the
unreliability of circular logic is obvious, it follows that the truth of the Bible cannot be trusted. So
what? The basic faith of Christianity becomes unstable when the Word of God becomes untrustworthy.
Entire lives will fall apart and hundreds of people will become unstable and confused, and all because
they put faith in an unreliable document. Why does that matter to me?All humans instinctively know
not to follow something that they cannot trust, but many refuse to obey these instincts when it comes
to religion. People should begin to think and realize the foolhardiness of a conservative Christian faith
that heavily relies on the infallibility of the Bible, for if the Bible cannot be trusted, then they have
wasted their lives on a fool s errand. Whether a Creator exists or not, human lives clearly have worth,
and people should not waste their short span of years in a mindless

Gentrification Advantages And Disadvantages
was a limitation in place. The development of the new housing complexes brought about the
investment in amenities. These, however, were pricey and most of the locals were not able to afford.
Gentrification has its benefits to the families that are categorized as low income earners. First, through
the development of infrastructure and opening up of newer shops and outlets, jobs are created. This
thus reduces unemployment and also makes these families improve on their livelihood through income
earned from the jobs they do in these new outlets. Secondly, with gentrification, better amenities are

The fees skyrocket and most of these families cannot afford it. They thus end up having children with
low levels of education. Also, due to the cultural diversity, the minority poorer people are often
criminalized thus making life harder for them (Fainstein, 2014) Gentrification improves the social
factors that determine health. Since there was the creation of newer hospitals and facilities, the
communities in Williamsburg benefited from better healthcare. On top of that improved security and
better housing structures made health better in Williamsburg. Since levels of education are also
increased by gentrification, health got a major boost. These show that health, in general, was improved
by gentrification. However, access for the more impoverished families was still an issue due to the
high charges. When the values of property rise, the original residents are affected both positively and
negatively. However, they are affected more negatively as they are forced to vacate their homes as
they can no longer afford the rent. This leads to displacement of more impoverished families. On top
of that, they are forced to spend a lot on rent alone in case they stay. This might affect their finances,
and they could end up bankrupt. Their health may deteriorate too because of depression as well as
higher charges in the hospital. However, they may get advantages such as improved housing
conditions and better security and environment.

The Pathophysiology Of Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a unique disease in its pathophysiology. For their early lives, patients appear healthy.
However, symptoms begin to appear during adolescence or early adulthood and may be triggered by
changes in the brain during puberty. The first signs of the illness include anxiety, depression, changes
in friends, sleep problems, irritability, dropping grades, and having trouble concentrating (Picchioni
and Murray, 2007; National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)). Delusions and hallucinations
typically begin between the ages of 16 and 30 (NIMH).
One category of symptoms is referred to as positive symptoms. These include hallucinations involving
any of the senses and attempting to make sense of these hallucinations often leads to delusions. ...

These scientists identified 128 independent associations with schizophrenia encompassing 108 loci, 83
of which had not been previously reported. They found that among the loci that they identified, there
was no evidence of non additive or epistatic effects. 75% of the 108 loci identified in this study
include genes that code for proteins and an additional 8% are located within 20kb of a gene. They
found that there was an association with CACNA1C, CACNB2, and CACNA1I, which code for
subunits of voltage gated calcium channels and have been suggested to play a role in other psychiatric
disorders in addition to schizophrenia. Quantitative trait loci, those that regulate the expression of
mRNA, were also implicated in conferring a risk for schizophrenia. There were also higher levels of
expression of schizophrenia risk genes in tissues associated with immune function, which supports the
hypothesis that immune dysregulation plays a role in schizophrenia. They also found that copy
number variations that were linked to schizophrenia overlapped with those that are associated with
autism spectrum disorder and other intellectual disabilities (Schizophrenia Working Group of the
Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, 2014). However, some scientists hypothesize that genes alone are
not sufficient for the development of schizophrenia

Analytical Essay The Skeleton Council by Katherine Leyton
The Skelton Council by Katherine Leyton was published in Volume 36 No. 4 of Contemporary Verse 2
during the spring of 2014. The poem opens on a house inhabited by a woman and a group of skeletons
that meet every evening for examination. One night, the woman blinks and sees a doppelganger of
herself in an empty room. The Skeleton Council by Katherine Leyton uses symbolism, imagery, and
style to express the oppressive nature of family secrets and their distortive and obsessive effects on the
narrator.
In The Skeleton Council, Leyton uses the skeletons as a symbol for the family secrets that plague the
narrator. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first half of the poem is comprised of a more complex syntax than the second half. The sentences
in the first half are longer, averaging 3 lines each and use a more descriptive diction with words such
as anxious (line 3), encouraging (line 5), and sideboards (line 2). This heavier style brings forward an
oppressive element as the meaning is trapped behind dense language. In the second half, the style
becomes more simplistic with sentences averaging 1 2 lines and word choice becoming more concise.
This change in style clearly presents the meaning in the second half taking away the oppressive
atmosphere and reinforcing the distortion of the narrators feelings.
In The Skeleton Council by Katherine Leyton, the symbolism of skeletons as well as the juxtaposition
that imagery and style form with the narrator s feelings are utilized throughout the poem. These
elements help to express the oppressive nature of un earthed secrets in the narrator s life and the
distortive and obsessive effects they have on

The Rise Of The Qing Dynasty
During the years 1851 1866 there was massive civil war, or as some would consider it, a rebellion in
China. This period of turmoil was not only the most destructive war of the nineteenth century, but
likely the bloodiest civil war of all time. (Platt, 2012) The ruling government was the Qing dynasty,
who had been in power since the mid 1600 s. There were widespread problems throughout the country
including natural disasters such as droughts, famines, and floods. (Robert Worden, 1988) There were a
substantial number of lower class citizens who were unhappy with their living conditions and with the
Manchu rulers of the Qing dynasty. There was a large gap in economic status between the lower class
and the wealthy members of the government. This social tension along with China being defeated
militarily by France and Britain lead to a citizen uprising in the region of south China. Known as the
Taiping Rebellion, this large scale revolt was fought in an attempt to create a new Han Chinese
dynasty that would unite Christianity and Confucianism. (Black, 2013) The Taiping Rebellion
impacted Chinese history in two main ways: the Chinese lower class learned to fight for social change,
which lead to other rebellions, and, at the same time, the war showcased the Chinese government s
intolerance for and ability to thwart societal change. The first main impact the rebellion had on
Chinese history was that the Chinese people, who were possibility influence by the American Civil

problem experienced by the company when they do not do any back up. The best way to ensure safety
is to make a backup of the can. In the event of any threat or destruction cannot be saved, with the

Secondly is test your backup data. After backing up, you should test your backups by performing data

functioning by deciding what traffic to permit into and out of the network and what traffic block.
Firewalls need to be configured to enforce the company security procedures and policies. Firewall will
block threats and malicious hackers. You should make sure the firewall kept between the Internet and
your computer, also other users. Your data will be safe from the outside and you do not need to have
problems to cope with the threat.
The other way to prevent is, do not share or allow any network access to any unknown users. Your
computer data maybe expose to theft and modification. Anyone on the Internet can access your files or
data freely. If you receive any emails or spamming with the attachment from unknown senders, do not
open it. It may contain virus or they can detect your data through it. If they managed to detect your

respiration also decreased from 106 to 44 breaths per minutes. The null hypothesis, that the change in
temperature has no effect on the respiration per minute of a goldfish. The null hypothesis can be
rejected because of the temperature of the water as a direct effect on the respirations of a goldfish. The
results give support for an alternative hypothesis. A goldfish is an ectotherm which means the fish s
body temperature depends mainly on the environmental temperature (White and Campo 2013).
However, there were many outside factors which made the experiment

Similarities Between Hispanics And African Americans
According to Bell (2012), while African Americans and Hispanics hold broadly favorable views of
each other, Hispanics are less likely to say the two groups get along well. At the same time, African
Americans are far more likely than Hispanics to say African Americans are frequently the victims of
racial discrimination. The similarities that unite African Americans and Hispanics are a racially,
ethnically, and culturally different mix of people whom all deal with the same issues our country
faces. Bell (2012) writes, both groups have their personalities regardless of how well their
personalities are or aren t accepted by society, and we struggle for our socio cultural values and styles

under different circumstances, which defines their culture here. My personal insight that I have gained
in preparing this paper is Black Immigrants were brought to American as slaves, the land that had
been forced on them. Black Americans were the children of Black Immigrants; they were born into
slavery. Slaves could not own weapons, receive an education, meet or move about without permission
from their master. Slavery ran from 1619 until 1865 in much of the present of the United States. That
is two hundred and forty six years of slavery. Today, African Immigrants have voluntarily immigrated
to America, and have been able to take full advantages of a new life in America. A new life in
American could include freedom, educational opportunities, and the chance to develop economically.
African Immigrant children knew no other place, like other Americans, they too are the children of
immigrants. We are now called African American because having the same opportunities as any other
society in the United States of American. In 2009, the first Black man became president of the United
States of America. Also, there is a Hispanic American woman on the Supreme Court Justices. In 2013,
an Indian American won The Miss America Beauty Contest. However, until immigration is addressed,
relations between these two groups will be

Leadership In The Black Community
Has the black community ever had a black leader or leaders? In 2015 I feel the black community
needs leaders to guide us to a higher place in society in the 2nd millennium. But first the black
community need to understand what a true leader is and how to embrace a true leader. Also The Black
community has to understand what previous leaders have done for us in the past to continue to push
the envelope further for us to have opportunities we have now. 2015 is the year we try to get a council
of new leaders to help the black community in areas we are lacking due the fact we are not being well
represented in politics and economics. Over time I feel the word leader has been down played in our
neighborhoods because we don t see to many black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The civil right movement had a lot of influential and brilliant leaders from this time like Martin Luther
King, Malcolm X, Rosa Park, Muhammad Ali, Web Dubois, and The Black Panther Party. The main
game changer were Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and The Black Panther Party. Martin Luther king
(MLK) was a minister, humanitarian, and activist is considered to be the leader of the civil movement.
MLK has also had a lot accomplishments, he won a Nobel peace prize at the age of 35 in 1964. He
was also given fifty honorary degrees from various colleges. Malcolm X was an American Muslin
minister and a human right activist, who was more with the ideal of violence. While he was in prison
he read a series of books which could he learned him a vary of degrees from the top school in
America. MLK had a way of getting black people involved his in risky and threating marches with no
violence. Cops would do brutal act to stop these powerful marches like spray our people with water
hoses, drenching their cloths and belittling them. MLK leadership was proven when he led one of his
most powerful marches in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955 when he fought for Rosa Parks right; Rosa
Parks was asked by a white man to get up in go to the back of the bus and she just refuse to do that so
she stay seated still the police came and arrested her. MLK did everything in power to get her out
which ended up getting him spray by hoses and arrested proven his leadership to the community.
Malcolm X was strong leader he prove this once he became leader of the Nation of Islam. In the 1960
he would defense blacks as a whole when he had debate with whites about politics in the black
community, he would answer there question with witty answers which many considered arrogant. He
led the Civil Right Movement biggest unity rally in Harlem; that was a great thing

How To Write An Essay On Vikings
The Vikings (AKA) Norse were known as the raiders that travel by sea and wreak havoc over foreign
beaches. Their is more than just that to the vikings, Most of the vikings depended on agriculture

the Norse. In that religion there were vast cosmology about the Universe, there was also multiple gods

Best Methods of Recycling Plastics
Recycling has grown rapidly over these past few decades. Almost every single household in America
has a recycling bin. You can find recycling bins anywhere like in your school or at a dumpster nearby
and I m sure there are plenty at home. You can almost recycle anything from glass, to Styrofoam, and
especially plastic. There are many things around your house that are probably made of plastic, if you
re just drinking a water bottle and you finish it toss it in the recycling bin instead of wasting it in the
garbage. You never know, you might end up using that same water bottle again in the future.
Recycling plastics doesn t only benefit the wellbeing of earth itself it also benefits consumers so they
can have a wide range of products made from plastic recycling like the utensils you eat with or any
kitchen gadgets or even your dinner table at home. Recycling plastic began in 1972 in Conshohocken,
Pa. They had the first mill to accept residential plastics and began their operations there. Then in the
1980s many U.S citizens began curbside collection programs in which they recycled plastics and other
materials that could be recycled. In 1984 is where recycling really started to expand they had topped
over 100 million pounds in recycled plastic for the first time in US history and from their they
continued to expand and the number in recycled plastic increased and is still increasing

ABSTRACT
Structural defects are inevitable in graphene due to its production techniques as well as chemical and
heat treatment processes. These defects in graphene are introduced either during the production
process or deliberately by us to tailor its properties. In this article, the effect of nearest neighbour
distance and angular orientation between Stone Thrower Wales defects (STW 2) on the mechanical
properties and failure morphology of graphene was investigated in the frame of molecular dynamics.
Mechanical properties and failure morphology of graphene was predicted to be the function of angular
orientation between STW 2 defects, when the nearest neighbour distance was in the range of 10 Ã….
Graphene sheet containing pair of STW 2 defects had shown an overall increase of 8% and 11% in
fracture strength and strain respectively as compared to graphene with single STW 2 defect. This
study also characterised the failure morphology of graphene sheet with single and pair of STW 2
defects in the armchair direction.

Environmental Justice Issue Of Environmental...
Introduction I propose to add the environmental justice issue of environmental discrimination into the
Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. To do so, I will investigate specific issues and regulation
deficiencies that are negatively impacting the Great Lakes reserves, and develop a plan of action on
your behalf. As you are aware, protecting the Great Lakes is critically important. It is not only the
largest source of freshwater in the United States but in the whole world. Indiana, Illinois, Michigan,
Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin border the Great Lakes, and all of those
states use it as a water source for a total of about 10 million people. Since the passing of the Clean
Water Act, industries like U.S. Steel Industry have been using the loopholes found in the bill to further
their profit, and as a side effect has caused damage to the water supply, disproportionately affecting
people in marginalized communities. By using these loopholes, the Great Lakes are continually
polluted, which causes appalling damage to the millions of people who use the water for drinking and
other water centric necessities. Also, aging infrastructure causes leaking pipes, corroding pipes that
jeopardize the water systems, and failing sewage treatment plants. These infrastructure problems not
only disproportionate effect marginalized communities but all communities suffer when the Great
Lakes become polluted. Since there is already an initiative to combat

The Life Of Frederick Douglass s The Narrative Of The...
The topic of slavery in antebellum America was very mixed overall in the nation. Normally people in
the North opposed slavery, while citizens of the South supported it. However, at the same time, many
people were unconcerned with this heated topic and needed to be persuaded to join the fight against
slavery. Northern citizens may have seen the practice slavery as neither good nor bad, but just part of
Southern life going on for hundreds of years. Frederick Douglass, a slave who had escaped to the
North, after years of abuse through slavery, knew that in order to stop slavery, he had to persuade all
the people in the North to vehemently oppose it as much as he did himself. Through the Narrative of
the Life of Frederick Douglass , which he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today almost all children grow up knowing their parents. It is a crime to take children away from their
parents under most circumstances. Returning back to slave times, taking the slave children away from
their parents is dehumanizing to the parents and children, by taking away the most important away
from their lives. Without any familial connections to anyone, Douglass had to fend for himself like a
person thrown into the jungle and try his best to survive every day. Douglass uses these descriptions in
his narrative to convey how slaves were ripped apart from their families. With each slave being
evaluated as property rather than a human being, the slaves felt like a good rather than a person with a
family, who would feel so much emotional pain when they have to leave their children, siblings, or
spouse behind. Through the progression of dehumanization, the white slave owners were able to keep
their power over their slaves, who lost their dignity with each whip given.
Douglass also puts the intense picture of dehumanization into the reader s head when he writes about
the whippings slaves suffered. A young boy, Douglass witnesses for the first time a slave getting
whipped, He took her into the kitchen, and stripped her from neck to waist, leaving her neck,
shoulders, and back entirely naked. He made her get upon the stool, and tied her hands to the hook (6).
Douglass hides in a closet, thinking that he would be the next

Takeaways Analysis
On Sunday night, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 132 113 in Game 2 of
the 2017 NBA Finals, taking a commanding 2 0 series lead. Even though Cavaliers superstar LeBron
James notched his eighth NBA Finals triple double, tying him with Magic Johnson for the most in
NBA Finals history, it was not enough to overcome the offensive firepower of the Warriors.
Just like in Game 1, it was once again the Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry show.
Here are three takeaways from Game 2:
1. Kevin Durant is on his way to potentially being named Finals MVP
After his phenomenal Game 1 performance, many people wondered what Kevin Durant would do for
an encore performance in Game 2?
To answer that question, Durant did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite his stellar perimeter defense, the Warriors needed Thompson to find his shot again and give
them an extra offensive boost in Game 2.
Thompson did just that as he pitched in with 22 points and seven rebounds, plus knocked down 4 of 7
from three point range. Give Thompson credit though, he is an outstanding shooter and when you are
a shooter like him, you need to have a short memory.
A missed shot will not make or break you. Thompson was knocking down shots inside the arc, putting
the ball on the floor, and dialing it up from distance.
The Warriors will need him to continue to shoot the ball like he did on Sunday night, especially if they
want to win Game 3 on Tuesday night and take a commanding 3 0 series lead.
3. LeBron James is still the greatest player in the world but he cannot do it all
Once again in the NBA Finals, LeBron James gave us another special performance. As I mentioned
earlier, James posted his eighth NBA Finals triple double consisting of 29 points, 14 rebounds, and 11
assists, but it was not enough.
Early in the game, James was playing like a man possessed. He was controlling the tempo, attacking
the basket with force and tenacity, while also getting his teammates involved. He also threw down a
powerful dunk on Andre Iguodala, who was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
However, James teammates could not reciprocate the favor and help him out. Just like in Game 1, J.R.

Student Debt For College Students
As decades pass by, obtaining a college degree seems more necessary to get a decent job after
graduating. Therefore, high school students feel the pressure to get into a good university and to get
the highest degree possible, even when they have no plan on how to pay for it. Financial aid has not
kept up with growing tuition prices, and taking out student loans seems almost impossible to avoid.
According to research, About 40 million Americans hold student loans and about 70% of bachelor s
degree recipients graduate with debt. (Market Watch) The U.S currently has a total of 1.3 trillion
dollars of outstanding debt. There is a ton of controversy on how to solve this issue, but there are
progressive solutions schools and college kids need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Educational shaming is when society looks down on you if you decide to take a route in life that does
not involve college, or does not involve a 4 year degree or higher. It has also come to a point in this
society, if you do not go to college right after high school and do not graduate within 4 years you are
looked down upon by employers. We put a college degree over productive work career. When
employers should start looking to see if you are eligible for a laboring job (and other careers that do
not need schooling) by your learning potential, motivation, integrity, and mental ability instead of a
piece of paper that tells your education and job experience. We are setting up future generations for
disaster if we don t help make a change. We are starting to believe that the American Dream is all
about a white collard job and a college degree. (Ted Talks, Dusty Wunderlich) By 2020, 19 million
more college graduates will enter the workforce but only 7 million of those require a degree. (Ted
Talks) Since every person is different not everyone will be ready for college at 18 and not every
student will have the fast learning ability or money to graduate in 4 years. Changing the way society
thinks is way easier said than done. Students can start taking part of this way of thinking and help
spread awareness by writing letters to congressmen, holding rallies, and by writing and signing

Essay On Navajo People
History of the Navajo People
The people who were going to become the Navajo tribe settled in what would be the mountains of
New Mexico in or around the 1600 s. Prior to that time the area was the home of the Anasazi (The
Ancient Ones.) The Anasazi had lived there for approximately 1200 years but, for unexplained
reasons, they abandoned their highly developed dwellings and moved westward and southward.
A new group of people, the Athapascans, migrated from what are now Canada, Alaska, and the
American Northwest southward to settle in the Southwest of America. Some of this group of Southern
Athapascans settled the mountainous region of New Mexico and came to be known as the Navajos, or

Army at Fort Defiance; finally, the Fort was abandoned only because troops were needed to fight in
the Civil War. The Army returned in 1863 and General Carleton, Commandant of the Military
Department of New Mexico ordered Kit Carson to move the Dine from their homes to a reservation
that he had created in the plains of eastern New Mexico, Bosque Redondo. Carson carried out the
orders by slaughtering men, women and children, destroying livestock and burning their crops. One of
the final and bloodier battles took place in the Canyon de Chelly. When the Dine finally surrendered
they were forced to walk from their homelands to their new place of residence several hundred miles
away. This came to me known as The Long Walk. In 1868 United States enters into a peace treaty with
the Navajo Tribe granting it a 3.5 million acre reservation.
In 1882 Executive Order establishes a 2.4 million acre reservation for use and occupancy by the Hopi
and such other Indians as the Secretary of the Interior may see fit to settle thereon. In 1934 legislation
adds some lands and defines the boundaries of the Navajo reservation in Arizona. In 1936 District Six,
a 499,258 acre area within the 1882 reservation is recognized as encompassing all of the lands
exclusively occupied by the Hopi. In 1941 District Six is expanded to 631,194 acres; Navajo families

Equiano s Borderlands
Often we consider racial disparities as a fixed and instantaneous issue, rooted in a single layer of time:
either it is thought of as an occurrence of the past and no longer relevant, or a contemporary uprising
whose ancient sources, which continue to reincarnate, are disregarded. In fact, the racial suppression
of marginalized groups is a continuous and ever evolving structure, its white dominated pillars rigidly
maintained throughout history, while the means by which minority communities are disparaged and
how race itself is perceived continues to mutate. In the memoir of abolitionist Olaudah Equiano, he
describes the enormous cruelties committed by white slave traders on captured Africans during the
eighteenth century transatlantic slave trade, which still flourished as he penned his 1784 narrative
(Equiano, 5). While Equiano seeks to characterize the innocence and humanity of his African brethren
and therefore justify the unethical nature of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While both Equiano and Walker characterize eighteenth and nineteenth century racism, respectively,
as primarily based on differences in skin color, Anzaldúa explores how of twentieth century society
systematically isolated, categorized, and oppressed marginalized groups based on differences in
language. Furthermore, she indicates the destructive internalization of the dominant culture s
obsession with language subtleties by pointing out the manifestation of not only interracial hostilities
between whites and others, as identified by Equiano and Walker, but intraracial degradation within the
Latinx community. She says because we internalize how our language has been used against us by the
dominant culture, we use our language differences against each other (Anzaldúa

Accounting Measures of Corporate Liquidity, leverage and costs of financial distress.

Synopsis:
When the cost of financial distress is high in a firm that firm may maintain a large amount of its total
asset as liquid asset and be careful on taking debt. This journal has talked about the relation on the
financial distress the cost of corporate liquid policy and the leverage policy of the firm. Liquid asset
constitute a significant portion of the total asset of the major corporations of U.S. Using different
proxies to direct and indirect cost at different financial distress the relationship between corporate
liquidity is examined.

Firm s investment outlays may depend on its liquidity to some extent. This journal has focused on
finding the link and established a clear relation. Investment expenditure was positively related to firm
s liquid asset holdings for both a three year period of moderate income decrease and a two year period
of very quick income turn down. No single relationship was located for the two year interval.
The marginal rate of risk rises with the amount invested because of different unfavorable outcome.
Additional loans are changed with the rise in marginal risk. This is similar to the rising marginal cost
of output. However, the more amount invested the less is the marginal risk as it implies less danger to
the wealth of creditors and the firms. Therefore, the firm s investment depends hugely on the size of
the firm s asset. A relationship between the firm s investment outlays and liquidity under uncertainty is
consistent with the analysis of the variation of it. But in the event of loss utility of the investor depend
on the net liquidity position as low liquidity position of an investor may force him to liquidation of his
inventories and other current assets.
A quite different line of argument may suggest there is a positive relationship between liquidity and
investment. The firm may act as if it has past pattern of receipts or assets that has allowed it to keep a
low ratio of liquid to capital asset. In such cases firms will invest low

  • 3. Cultural Diversity In The Film And Television Industry In addition to considering myself a champion of the supporting cast of the films and shows I regularly watch, I also do appreciate and value diversity within the film and television industry. While I may not voice my concerns publicly about the traditional lack of diversity within the industry, I regard this issue as one amongst a whole host of others that are vital to the ongoing success of this business. For whatever reason, I tend to have a heart for Asians within the industry who have exceptional talent and deserve to be recognized. In the case of Nelson Wong, I have noticed his work for several years now, so reaching out and asking him a few questions about his career is an action that matches perfectly not only with my own beliefs and value system, but certainly with the Hallmark network as well. Although the Christmas movies are past, I am honored to be able to share the career and thoughts of this astounding actor and benevolent human being. Photo by Odyssey Media Odyssey Media RH: Why did you decide to become an actor? NW: I always felt like an oddball being the youngest and only boy (I have two older sisters) in an immigrant family in New Zealand. I had a hard time relating to my family and the world around me due to cultural differences, and I got bullied at school initially for being Asian and different. The people I related to the most were on TV folks like John Ritter, Don Knotts, Gil Gerard, and Adam West. They showed me a world where people were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Influence Of Resveratrol Supplementation On Various... Cardiovascular disease has become one of the leading causes of death worldwide (1). In their textbook, Smolin and colleagues state that resveratrol [...] may help to prevent cardiovascular disease (2, p.479). Indeed, observational studies have provided evidence that populations that regularly consume substantial amount of the compound resveratrol also have a lower incidence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) (3,4). One meta analysis calculated that drinking 150 mL of red wine (containing resveratrol) per day provided the optimal protection from cardiovascular disease (5). However, no experimental evidence exists to directly link resveratrol supplementation with incidence of cardiovascular disease. A growing body of experimental evidence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Twenty healthy, age matched (36 years of age, on average) subjects were randomized to either receive 200 mg of Polygonum cuspidatum extract (PCE) (containing 40 mg of resveratrol) or a placebo daily for 6 weeks. Blood samples were collected at baseline and at 1, 3 and 6 weeks. Oxidative stress was determined by analyzing blood for reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. Inflammatory state was determined by assessing nuclear NFKB DNA binding activity (via gel shift assay) and TNFα mRNA expression (via PCR testing). Resveratrol supplementation was found to significantly reduce ROS generation, NFKB DNA binding activity, and TNFα mRNA expression compared to both baseline and the placebo group at 3 and 6 weeks. (see figure 1). The authors therefore concluded that 6 weeks of a resveratrol containing supplement could reduce both oxidative stress and inflammation. A major weakness of the study is that the authors failed to report the sex of the subjects making it challenging to compare these findings with other studies. Furthermore, this study used a PCE supplement, which contains several other antioxidants in addition to resveratrol. The possibility therefore remains that these other compounds or an interaction effect could have been responsible for some of changes that were observed. • 7. The Effects Of Fast Food On Children Did you know that 30% of children ages 6 to 11 are overweight? 15.3% of children ages 6 to 11 are obese? The impact obesity has on a child can become life changing. According to the CDC if current trends continue, 1 of 3 U.S. adults will have diabetes by 2050 (Evans, W, 2006). Behind the mask of obesity is a child that falls into the trap of fast food advertisement. Overall, the fast food industry should be more socially responsible and not direct their marketing strategy of unhealthy food choices to children; this will cut down the percentage of children suffering from childhood obesity that leads to various health issues. One might object here, that it is a free market and freedom of speech is part of the U.S. Constitution. However, everyone has a different opinion about fast food and boudaries must be respected. Still the fast food market is targeting children too often and too much, even involving Schools to advertise unhealthy food in exchange for funding. One may argue, children learn by example, parents are responsible for leading them in the right direction of how to make healthy food choices. With this being said, parents are beginning to become concerned with how the fast food is being marketed to children. One of the largest leading industries known as fast food continues to market unhealthy promotions, targeting young minds. Children watch an average of over ten related food advertisements daily, and (nearly 4,000 per year) (Powell LM, S. R. 2011). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Arguments Against Circular Reasoning Logic, as most people know, is the art and science of reasoning well. Studied logicians use facts to craft clear, convincing arguments that support various positions. Correct arguments state reliable facts or premises, as some call them and then draw a conclusion based on those facts. Only a single error in an argument can bring the whole thing crashing down, which causes the debater to lose both the point and part of their reputability. Circular reasoning has become one fault that occurs far too often. Why does that matter to me?All humans instinctively know not to follow something that they cannot trust, but many refuse to obey these instincts when it comes to religion. Since there was the creation of newer hospitals and facilities, the communities in Williamsburg benefited from better healthcare. On top of that improved security and better housing structures made health better in Williamsburg. Since levels of education are also increased by gentrification, health got a major boost. These show that health, in general, was improved by gentrification. However, access for the more impoverished families was still an issue due to the high charges. When the values of property rise, the original residents are affected both positively and negatively. However, they are affected more negatively as they are forced to vacate their homes as they can no longer afford the rent. This leads to displacement of more impoverished families. On top of that, they are forced to spend a lot on rent alone in case they stay. This might affect their finances, and they could end up bankrupt. They found that there was an association with CACNA1C, CACNB2, and CACNA1I, which code for subunits of voltage gated calcium channels and have been suggested to play a role in other psychiatric disorders in addition to schizophrenia. Quantitative trait loci, those that regulate the expression of mRNA, were also implicated in conferring a risk for schizophrenia. There were also higher levels of expression of schizophrenia risk genes in tissues associated with immune function, which supports the hypothesis that immune dysregulation plays a role in schizophrenia. They also found that copy number variations that were linked to schizophrenia overlapped with those that are associated with autism spectrum disorder and other intellectual disabilities (Schizophrenia Working Group of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, 2014). The poem opens on a house inhabited by a woman and a group of skeletons that meet every evening for examination. One night, the woman blinks and sees a doppelganger of herself in an empty room. This heavier style brings forward an oppressive element as the meaning is trapped behind dense language. In the second half, the style becomes more simplistic with sentences averaging 1 2 lines and word choice becoming more concise. This change in style clearly presents the meaning in the second half taking away the oppressive atmosphere and reinforcing the distortion of the narrators feelings. This period of turmoil was not only the most destructive war of the nineteenth century, but likely the bloodiest civil war of all time. (Platt, 2012) The ruling government was the Qing dynasty, who had been in power since the mid 1600 s. There were widespread problems throughout the country including natural disasters such as droughts, famines, and floods. (Robert Worden, 1988) There were a substantial number of lower class citizens who were unhappy with their living conditions and with the Manchu rulers of the Qing dynasty. There was a large gap in economic status between the lower class and the wealthy members of the government. This social tension along with China being defeated militarily by France and Britain lead to a citizen uprising in the region of south China. Known as the Taiping Rebellion, this large scale revolt was fought in an attempt to create a new Han Chinese dynasty that would unite Christianity and Confucianism. (Black, 2013) The Taiping Rebellion impacted Chinese history in two main ways: the Chinese lower class learned to fight for social change, which lead to other rebellions, and, at the same time, the war showcased the Chinese government s intolerance for and ability to thwart societal change. As the temperature decrease from 20 degrees to 10 degrees, the average number of respiration also decreased from 106 to 44 breaths per minutes. The null hypothesis, that the change in temperature has no effect on the respiration per minute of a goldfish. The null hypothesis can be rejected because of the temperature of the water as a direct effect on the respirations of a goldfish. The results give support for an alternative hypothesis. A goldfish is an ectotherm which means the fish s body temperature depends mainly on the environmental temperature (White and Campo 2013). The similarities that unite African Americans and Hispanics are a racially, ethnically, and culturally different mix of people whom all deal with the same issues our country faces. • 25. Advantages Of Recycling Plastic Science Fair Research Paper Zachariah Alzubi and Yosef Ismael Best Methods of Recycling Plastics Recycling has grown rapidly over these past few decades. Almost every single household in America has a recycling bin. You can find recycling bins anywhere like in your school or at a dumpster nearby and I m sure there are plenty at home. You can almost recycle anything from glass, to Styrofoam, and especially plastic. There are many things around your house that are probably made of plastic, if you re just drinking a water bottle and you finish it toss it in the recycling bin instead of wasting it in the garbage. You never know, you might end up using that same water bottle again in the future. Recycling plastics doesn t only benefit the wellbeing of earth itself it also benefits consumers so they can have a wide range of products made from plastic recycling like the utensils you eat with or any kitchen gadgets or even your dinner table at home. Recycling plastic began in 1972 in Conshohocken, Pa. They had the first mill to accept residential plastics and began their operations there. Then in the 1980s many U.S citizens began curbside collection programs in which they recycled plastics and other materials that could be recycled. • 27. Environmental Justice Issue Of Environmental... Introduction I propose to add the environmental justice issue of environmental discrimination into the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. To do so, I will investigate specific issues and regulation deficiencies that are negatively impacting the Great Lakes reserves, and develop a plan of action on your behalf. As you are aware, protecting the Great Lakes is critically important. It is not only the largest source of freshwater in the United States but in the whole world. Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin border the Great Lakes, and all of those states use it as a water source for a total of about 10 million people. Since the passing of the Clean Water Act, industries like U.S. Steel Industry have been using the loopholes found in the bill to further their profit, and as a side effect has caused damage to the water supply, disproportionately affecting people in marginalized communities. By using these loopholes, the Great Lakes are continually polluted, which causes appalling damage to the millions of people who use the water for drinking and other water centric necessities. Also, aging infrastructure causes leaking pipes, corroding pipes that jeopardize the water systems, and failing sewage treatment plants. These infrastructure problems not only disproportionate effect marginalized communities but all communities suffer when the Great Lakes become polluted. Northern citizens may have seen the practice slavery as neither good nor bad, but just part of Southern life going on for hundreds of years. It is a crime to take children away from their parents under most circumstances. Returning back to slave times, taking the slave children away from their parents is dehumanizing to the parents and children, by taking away the most important away from their lives. Without any familial connections to anyone, Douglass had to fend for himself like a person thrown into the jungle and try his best to survive every day. Douglass uses these descriptions in his narrative to convey how slaves were ripped apart from their families. With each slave being evaluated as property rather than a human being, the slaves felt like a good rather than a person with a family, who would feel so much emotional pain when they have to leave their children, siblings, or spouse behind. Through the progression of dehumanization, the white slave owners were able to keep their power over their slaves, who lost their dignity with each whip given. Douglass also puts the intense picture of dehumanization into the reader s head when he writes about the whippings slaves suffered. A young boy, Douglass witnesses for the first time a slave getting whipped, He took her into the kitchen, and stripped her from neck to waist, leaving her neck, shoulders, and back entirely naked. In fact, the racial suppression of marginalized groups is a continuous and ever evolving structure, its white dominated pillars rigidly maintained throughout history, while the means by which minority communities are disparaged and how race itself is perceived continues to mutate. In the memoir of abolitionist Olaudah Equiano, he describes the enormous cruelties committed by white slave traders on captured Africans during the eighteenth century transatlantic slave trade, which still flourished as he penned his 1784 narrative (Equiano, 5). Investment expenditure was positively related to firm s liquid asset holdings for both a three year period of moderate income decrease and a two year period of very quick income turn down. No single relationship was located for the two year interval. The marginal rate of risk rises with the amount invested because of different unfavorable outcome. Additional loans are changed with the rise in marginal risk. This is similar to the rising marginal cost of output. However, the more amount invested the less is the marginal risk as it implies less danger to the wealth of creditors and the firms.
