This document provides guidelines for creating an effective technical poster presentation. It recommends including objectives, a brief introduction of the work, visuals like graphs and diagrams to illustrate key findings, and conclusions. Text should make up no more than one-fourth of the poster space and be readable from five feet away. Visuals should have titles and be properly labeled with axes, legends, and scales. The poster should follow a clear layout and use of color, font size, and formatting to guide the eye and ensure readability and understanding from a distance. Students will present their posters within a 7-minute time limit and be evaluated on content, design quality, and presentation skills.
Conference presentations are important in every profession majorly for those which are related to academics. In most of the projects requires condensing a much longer paper into a 15 to 20 minute presentation which becomes challenging. However, presenting the work is an important academic and professional exercise because it allows sharing research, ideas and arguments with a wider audience. Presentations include visual elements which is used for converting a written paper into a visual material that is appropriate for the topic.
How to male a good power point presentation is an art & skill. But do not worry guys. Here, i am providing very important instructions in easy way to build professional power point presentation.

Posters are an effective method of presenting academic work or research in progress and, because some information is better presented visually, a poster may be more memorable than a verbal presentation. A poster presentation may be a required assessment task for undergraduate or postgraduate students. Posters are often included in the scientific program of a conference, and are usually displayed during a conference with times allocated for presenters to be available to discuss their content with attendees. A poster is an excellent way for beginning presenters to introduce their work to their peers. This also allows for valuable networking opportunities.
Before starting your poster Consider your audience: their interests and/or academic level. Allow enough time to plan and produce it. A good poster takes time. Know the presentation requirements including: poster dimensions; method of display; any mandatory content inclusions or presentation details; or if handouts are required as part of the presentation. Know the evaluation criteria for both the abstract (if required) and the poster. Critically review other posters for design, clarity, layout and overall quality. Consider different methods of production. These can range from cut and paste to a professionally developed and computer-generated poster.

A poster presentation is a way to communicate your research or your understanding of a topic in a short and concise format. You will need to analyze and evaluate information, synthesize ideas, and creatively demonstrate your understanding of a topic or the findings of your research.
you may be asked to present a research paper in college or elsewhere in conferences.
this presentation includes how to present your research paper in oral and poster form. and also some guidelines for how to write your research paper
there are many sites online which help you to understand how to write a paper.
Happy studying :)

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
2. Why Technical Posters?
◦ Structured poster sessions, popular at all
major conferences, are an important way
to
present your work and ideas throughout
your
scientific career.
◦ Posters allow authors and participants to
ask
questions and discuss their work in a
more
interactive manner than typical paper
sessions.
3. Objectives:
To publicize your ideas/work
To display what you did and how you
did it
To draw conclusions of your ideas
To encourage participants to ask
questions
To communicate effectively & clearly
To present your findings in an
engaging & logical manner
4. Time-Limit
Oral Presentation to Judges: 5 minutes maximum
Question & Answer session by Judges and the
audience: 2 minutes
TIME LIMIT SHOULD BE STRICTLY
FOLLOWED; any extension can lead to deduction
of marks.
Both the authors have to speak, in sync.
Proper presentation prevents presentation
predicaments.
5. Guidelines
Any suitable poster medium/material can be used: paper (chart
sheets), vinyl sheets, stiff cloth, hard plastic sheets etc.
Ideally the Poster area SHOULD NOT EXCEED 1 m2.
Poster should have PRINTED DATA ONLY (including graphs,
pictures, diagrams etc.).
If you are planning to make a full-size digital poster, the most ideal
software is Adobe PHOTOSHOP.
Paper print-outs can be stuck on a base made of any of these
materials, in case printing whole poster is difficult.
No form of artwork is acceptable: glitter, sparkle, paints etc. should
be strictly avoided. Remember that you are at a TECHNICAL poster
session, not an art exhibition.
Models (if any) may be included, but oral presentation of the same
should be done within the same allotted time limit of 7 minutes.
Do remember that your team will be judged strictly on your
poster only.
6. Guidelines
Some guidelines are given below
1.Students are free to choose any layout as per their
requirement/creativity.
2.To maintain the uniformity this is mandatory that only A3 size thick
paper should be used as a medium/material for making posters.
3.Ask the students to limit the text to about one-fourth of the poster
space, and use visuals (graphs, photographs, schematics, maps, etc.)
to discuss the topic.
Text can be used to
introduce the study (what hypothesis was tested or what problem was
investigated? why was the study worth doing?)
explain visuals and direct viewers attention to significant data trends
and relationships portrayed in the visuals
state and explain the interpretations that follow from the data.
In many cases, conclusions can be summarized in a bullet-point list.
Depending upon the stage or nature of the project, the text could also
include sections on future research plans or questions for discussion
with viewers.
Text should be readable from five feet away.
7. Guidelines
Lettering for the title should be large. Use all capital letters for the title.
Visuals should be simple and bold. Each visual should have a brief title .
Make sure that any visual can stand alone, graph axes are properly labelled,
maps have north arrows and distance scales, symbols are explained, etc.
Make sure that the text and the visuals are integrated. Figures should be
numbered consecutively according to the order in which are first mentioned
in the text.
4.While evaluating kindly take care that there is a spread of marks so as to
have a bell shaped histogram. Only in exceptional cases marks should be
more than seventy five and such cases has to be justified by the concerned
faculty.
5. Poster should be presented in synchronization .
6. Poster falls under the category of presentation thus there may be variation
in marks allotted to the student of the same group.
7.No. of students in a group should be as follows
Batch having strength <45 = 2-3 students in each group
Batch having strength of 46 – 60 = 3-4 students in each group
8. Sr No. Roll

The evaluation scheme for PDA 1-Technical Poster is as follows :
10. Text & Readability
• Keep the text brief (less than 50% of the total poster
area); the message should be clear and understandable
without oral explanation.
• Data should be given in POINTS.
• Not more than 25-35 lines of text (or 15-20 points).
• All letters on your final poster should be big enough
to make it readable at 8 feet.
• Avoid lesser-known abbreviations, acronyms, or
jargon which may be difficult to comprehend.
• Keep the text Justified in alignment.
• Keep in mind that upper and lowercase letters
together are easier to read than all uppercase i.e. for
eg. “ These are the Results “ is better readable than “
THESE ARE THE RESULTS ”.
11. Poster Background and
Readability
Poster background and print should be in
contrasting colors.
A light background & dark print works well.
A dark background & light print also works well.
A dark background & dark print??? Not so much...
A light background & light print??? Not at all!
12. Making Intelligent Use of
Color
Color is an efficient and
effective way to draw
attention
14. Graphs & Figures
A well-documented graph or figure is
way more attractive and better than
lengthy text.
Tables are difficult to read; represent
data graphically whenever possible.
A picture often is worth a thousand
words.
Aesthetics should be kept in mind
while using graphics.
15. Evaluating Posters
• Theme (Original & innovative)
• Technicality (Branch and domain
specific)
• Language (grammar, technical
vocabulary)
• Presentation (confidence level and
body language)
• Plagiarism
