Technology Use Plan Grangeville High School
Why do we need a plan? In order to reach any goal, you must have a plan. Technology is no different. We must have an integrated plan that is well thought out and includes all of the necessary components so that we can spend our time and money efficiently. Our plan must function within our overall school improvement plan. We must be able to coordinate our efforts in a productive way. We must know where we are going or we will never get there.

What support equipment will we need, beyond the obvious? Has anyone attempted a similar plan? What did they learn? Vision Statement We view the teachers as curriculum experts and wish to use their unique skills and knowledge to help implement a technology system that will best aid each of them in engaging our students in a meaningful educational experience that not only helps meet state and national standards, but helps our students succeed in their future. We also realize that student evaluation must go beyond simple pen and paper tests. We wish to provide teachers with technology that will help gather and organize information so that they can more deeply evaluate their students’ progress. In achieving these goals, we realize the importance of supplying teachers with the infrastructure, support, equipment and training necessary to meet the needs of today’s students.
Goals/Objectives Build a team that allows community members, parents, students and school employees to share in the development and implementation of the plan. The team will build and implement a system that takes into account the unique skills and requirements of each classroom teacher. The plan will provide both school level and classroom level support in the way of a full time technology coordinator. The team will secure ongoing support from our business partners to help with both start up and maintenance / replacement costs. The administration will provide time and personnel for on site training on how to best use the system. Teachers with the assistance of an on site technology coordinator and peer collaboration will fully integrate technology across the curriculum. The administration will provide time for collaboration where ideas can be shared and questions addressed among staff members. Technology will be implemented in a way that facilitates the achievement of both state and national standards in technology and in specific subject areas. The team will establish a plan that gains support and participation from parents and the community. The team will develop a plan that helps both Administrators and teachers understand their roles and tasks. The team will develop an evaluation process that accurately measures the success of the plan at every level.

These benchmarks should address our goals and objectives. Observations will be made to see what level the technology and training have been implemented in the classrooms. Surveys-addressing each of the objectives and rating how well these objectives have been met. Interviews with instructors and students to see what they have learned from the technology use. Student portfolios showing work done using the technology to meet state and federal standards. Data collection and tracking to evaluate student progress. Review the timeline to see if it has been followed.
