Module 7 FRIT 7232 Organizational Structures for Technology
Below is a general Organization chart for Armstrong State University (“ASU”)
technology based on the last published organizational chart and
departmental information and services provided on the website. The “Tech
Sets” rating for ASU would be an “established school”; the hierarchy in place
has instructional and technically trained staff and a formal environment for
processes.
According to ASU’s website, the 3 branches of Technology are:
1) University Library services, University Librarian under the Vice President
and President. This includes the Lane library services, librarians, media
specialists. They manage sign-out of technology equipment such as video
cameras, and also train staff and students on technology equipment use.
They also assist students and faculity with research, Galileo, Interlibrary
Loan (ILL requests), software and multimedia reserves. They also provide
Assistive Technology such as Braille, wheelchair access, Kurzweil Read Along

2) Office of Online & Blended Learning (Director of Online & Blended
Learning) under the Vice President and President. They provide support for
students and faculty for e-learning, conduct workshops, provide training for
Desire to Learn (D2L), and provide professional development for staff,
curriculum design assistance. See the blue chart below.
3) Information Technology (“IT”) services is under the Chief Information
Officer which is under the President. The IT department manages the IT
infrastructure systems, WIFI, helpdesk services for staff and students,
manages ASU website, D2L technology, network drives. See the purple chart
below.
