The things I have focused on
when designing the front cover
are things that are likely to
appeal and stand out the target
audience and aspects that make
the genre what it is. These
features include body language
and facial expressions shown by
the model, as well as colour
schemes.
In order to solidify the image of
mysteriousness and danger within
the genre, I have used a model
that not only looks conventional to
one of a professional magazine of
my genre. During the shoot I asked
said model to present himself in
this way. In order to achieve this I
have used a threatening stance
and aggressive facial expressions in
order to create the conventions to
my genre.
Referring to my media pack it is
clear to me that the target
audience for my magazine is
most likely to be those aged 12-
25 with the ratio of men to
women being 58% percent Male
to 42% Female.
When designing my Front cover
finding san serif fonts that would
appeal to my audience as well as
finding a specific house style in
order to design my magazine
around was a key aspect. This is an
important task when designing a
professional magazine as if the text
is not appealing to the reader it
lowers the chance of sales.
When designing the
contents page an
important feature was
having a clear and well
ordered layout as well as
keeping within the house
style in order for any part
of the magazine to be
easily recognised at any
point during the
customers day if they
were to see it.
Including simple features
such as a date add to
convention as well as
being able to identify
when the magazine was
released and what issue
it may be.
In order to maintain the
theme of aggression
throughout the magazine I
have used this image and
asked my model to again
look deep into the camera
in order to create this
impression and have an
aggressive stance.
On this page it was important
for me to use Bold fonts and
large text for headings, by
including these features it
improves the ability of the
audience finding what they
are looking for.
All fonts used within the
magazine are of the san serif
type in order to fit
convention.
When producing my contents page
I had to take into account the
house style which I had created
without my magazine as well as
the inclusion of a large picture
relating to article on the pages
throughout.
In order to grab the readers
attention I have used what's
known as a pull quote.
This allows the reader to easily see
what is included in this article and
entice them to read through.
The fonts and letter sizes on this
page are san serif and are
consitant size throughout the
article in order to keep convention
and make the magazine look as
high quality as possible.
