1. Unit 57: Photography and Photographic Practise
Project Proposal
(P2, P3, M2, M3, D2, D3)
Candidate name: Theme: Architectural Exploration of Salford Quays
Predicted final outcome
For what a production is to, we will take 50 photos at Salford quays but only
using 10 for the final production. This will take a role on a certain type of
photography and it will be architectural but also landscape but it’s to
promote Salford quays.
Reasons for selection of theme (including inspiration from the work of others)
There are a few of photographers that inspired me to do landscape the first
one was the creators of Last of us “Naughty dog, they released a numerous
amount of images that included well-known landmarks in a post apocalypse
event. Here is a couple of those images.
It is hard to do a similar sort of creating because I don’t work at naughty dog
but still there is no harm in trying.
Then there is the next photographer only one stand out to me and that was
the image below, it was by a photographer by the name of Simon Kitchin.
The image inspired me because it is focus on the railway train making it only
show colour when all the landscape is in black and white. I’d Like to get a
similar image to make it focus on a particular object.
2. Then Finally there is this image It was taken by a photographer called David
Taylor the reason this photographer inspired me was because it showed of
the beautiful landmarks but with a morning glow of the sunrise. So I’d like to
get the same sort of photo but in the quays and it would show it off but also
make manchester look nice and sunny instead of gloomy.
The photo imaging equipment and medium that will be used and why
I will use the canon 7D provided by college due to I do not own a camera
for myself, The specs for the camera are on this webpage.
http://www.cnet.com/products/canon-eos-7d/specs/
The reason why I’d use this camera is because it is very good using certain
features that it has making the photos that’ll I will take will look professional.
Mostly there is shutter speed depth of field iso and rule of thirds theses will
help me make a professional photo to promote the Salford quays. The
higher F-stop the more the photo will be in focused, this will make my picture
show it off more but I might try and make it half not much in the shot. Then I’ll
use a high shutter speed because I want to make a still image and not
making it look still and don’t need a slow shutter speed, I may have to
change the aperture due to the fast shutter speed making it look darker, so
I’d boost the aperture making more light come in and finally the rule of thirds
I’d choose a certain landmark and use the rule of third to make it have a
better feel looking at it at a different view.
This is a map of Salford Quays, it is based in
Greater Manchester, Salford and it has well
known landmarks such as the Lowry,
MediaCityUK and the imperial war Museum
north. It is easy to access this area via tram or
bus to get to a from the Salford quays.
