Theme: Architectural Exploration of Salford Quays
Predicted final outcome
For the final outcome we are going to take 50+ images in Greater
Manchester of landscapes, which are trying to promote Manchester in a
positive way. This could mean taking pictures of iconic things in certain
locations or editing photos in Photoshop to help create visually appealing
images.
Then we will pick 10 of these images as the final piece.
Reasons for selection of theme (including inspiration from the work of others)
The theme I have chosen to do is landscape; this is because I feel that this is
the best style for showing of Manchester and trying to promote it. There is
many architectural buildings and nice views to capture in Manchester so
landscape images are ideal.
There are many landscape photographers that I like because of the
different images they capture but one that I like the most is Charlie Waite.
He images captured by this photographer are all visually appealing and
colourful as well as neat.

The photo imaging equipment and medium that will be used and why
The camera I will be using is the Nikon D3100 or the Canon 7D, I will most
likely be using a tripod as well, I will bring a normal zoom lens and a Canon
EF 1.8 50mm prime lens.
Techniques that will be used and how they will help convey the visual
message
One of the main techniques I’ll be using is the rule of thirds, but for some
images I might try and avoid that rule to see if I can get a more interesting
shot. Depending on what I’m taking a picture of at the time I will adjust the
shutter and aperture. Although I have an idea for a shot at night time if
there is any moving lights I will use a slow shutter speed to capture a blurred
light view.

3. Location of
shoot This map shows the main areas within the Salford Quays area. A
lot of the buildings here have a large purpose. Media City is
based here with the BBC and the newly built ITV; because of the
new buildings around here everything looks quite modern. This
shows Salford Quays in a great way and will positively advertise
towards its audience in the best way possible. I will be taking
images all the areas of Salford quays both the old and modern
architecture.

I will complete a risk assessment
