A newspaper is written in non-fiction, however non-fiction comes in many
different types. This also surround us in everyday life as we need the
knowledge about the rea/town we live in.
In a newspaper you will always find formal writing as it is has no age
boundaries, so its open to anyone to read. However there are parts where we
have humorous sections, the humorous section are there to change our
moods from sad to happy E.G. seeing a sad storyline about a innocent
murder or something relative, this will make us unhappy that’s why the
humorous context would probably be on the next page to change our
moods. Newspaper are mostly written in 3rd person however there are
section where people have been interviewed, where we would see quotation
marks, this is a change from 3rd person to 1st.
A newspapers lay out is always the same so when looking for specific
categories we are able to easily find it, for example the sports section would
be the last 5 pages.

text to grab the attention of the readers, it has a plain white text above
the picture, the picture gives us an understanding of what the caption

size to attract attention, the less important information on the page
would be added on but in a smaller text size to give space to more

• A game instruction manual will contain information that will
teach you how to play the game. The text used is plain and

important instruction. However a instruction manual get
really boring as it is really simple.
• Some manuals contains images so it is less boring than just
reading text, the images would visually explain to use how
the game works instead of reading a bunch of text that will
waste time.
• The new way of instruction manuals most of the time is
explained in game where you just watch and listen, this is
usually a paper instruction turned into a in-video instruction.
6. GAME (INSTRUCTION MANUALS)
For a game instruction manual you have steps informing you what to do, the text shown on
the paper is written in 3rd person so it is clearer to understand. The manual is written
formally so we can get a better picture, it is also modern unless the game has an olden day
style.
For most manuals the font style is a simple ‘Calibri’ to make things easy to read also the
less effects added the more able we are to understand the text, this means no colours,
themes and just effects in general. The manual Is a simple piece of paper that Is laid out in
a specific strategy to allows us to simply acknowledge.
