their grandfather boast so that they could head out to London. Brendan agrees to drives them
there and Cosmo knowing that their parent are all asleep but he still went and said his last
goodbye to them.
Narrative theory
The todorv’s narrative theory is the states of most story or film plot lines follow the pattern
where the movie Sing Street also does.
Equilibrium- the first part of the story is when everyone in the family are still together and
Connor moved to a new school and met a girls call Raphina and form a musical band where
everything was going well and the relationship with the girl are getting along. However, they
have also film a music video and are peppering for the concert coming up soon.
Disruption- the disruption in this film is when Connor parents Robert and Penny announce
that they are splitting up. However, on the day of the Connor practicing his concert and he
has been hopping to see Raphina turning up, but at the end she never did. At this time Connor
went to his house where she lived before and found out that she left with her boyfriend to
London.
Restored order- not long after Raphina came back and found Connor. And the concert day
finally came and when the band is playing the last song, Raphina finally shows up.
Equilibrium again- at the end of the film where all the happiness is back together. And this is
where Connor asks his brother to take him to his grandfather boat and his brother agree to
take him. And this is when Connor and Raphina got on to the boat and left Dublin Ireland and
head off to London.
Genre
The main genre of the movie Sing Street is musical comedy. Where there are many funny and
stupid scene where teenagers was just acting how teenagers should be, which made the movie
run smoothly with their genre. However, the including many different song in the movie
establishes its musical genre, and with the use of song lyrics it shows how they are really like
in their life.
Additionally, throughout this movie there is social realism that is included in there. As this
movie imply the working class people and how they are trying to live their live like, and there
are some poorer character that lives in flats, which established the different between higher
class, medium class and lower class. Moreover, Sing Street also includes the genre of
romance where teenagers are building up their love relationship. For example, where
Conor/Cosmo and Raphina went through many things together and in the end, they end up
leaving their hometown to London to create their new live.
Purpose
The Sing Street is a feature film where films are mostly fiction and fantasy included where it
could be real event but scriptwriter would add more drama into it. The purpose of making a
feature film are to make profit, which at the same time it will enable carers and crew to
explore and open their acting career as they was able to show their skills throughout the film.
However, the money that were used to create the film will fortunately earn back which allow
the film making crew to create more new film and this would be carrying on again and again.
As well as, feature film might be seen as an object to make money for the entertainment
industry, but there are still audience who are interested in fantasy film like that, which could
also be a purpose of people making feature film. Those are film that could make people
emotional, laugh and cry where many feeling would be put inside and related to the audience
and this is one of the reason and purpose why people like to watch feature film.
The budget of this movie was around $4 million, as the box office was around $13.6 million,
which was a financial success. As an audience of Sing Street, I think this movie has mostly
reach their purpose that was to make profit. But to me I think that Sing Street has many
emotional scene where teenagers is trying to live for their dream and be who they wanted to
be which most teenagers audience would feel how the character feel which I think is a
success movie.
Audience
The target audience of audience of the Sing Street would be around teenagers to adult
audience. As the main character in this film is all teenagers back in to 1980s which many
teenagers would be attracted however the movie was set in the 80s which the adult now a
days would also be interested in looking into this movie as it can relate back to their past
teenagers time/childhood. The Director of this movie Sing Street is John Carney, which is a
master director for music-films, as many musical film fans audience already know. On the
other hand, this movie is about what teenagers go through and how they become successful,
and people who like to relate themselves and watching others successful may like to watch
this movie. However, this movie would be aiming at working class or middle class as they
could relate themselves to the character , as higher class people are likely to watch as well as
musical genre movie can attract many different kind of audience as music can infection many
people.
Message and values
The message and values of the sing street is trying to get across the audience that if you have
dream you should chase it and not to give up without trying or even half way. However, the
movie also suggest to the audience that following your dream can be hard and many different
things could get in the way, but with trying and effort you will make it in the end. As this
movie also get across that there are many people outside in the world are struggling in their
family and condition life, and with passion and effect you put in you might be able to change
all the things at the end. On the other hand, sometime when you achieve something or get
something after a long way through, you might also lose something on the way or at the end.
As the character n sing street did follow his dream and able to leave the small area that he is
living in and move to London, but at the same time he lost his family.

Narrative theory The todorv’s narrative theory is the states of most story or film plot lines follow the pattern where the movie Sing Street also does. Equilibrium- the first part of the story is when everyone in the family are still together and Connor moved to a new school and met a girls call Raphina and form a musical band where everything was going well and the relationship with the girl are getting along. However, they have also film a music video and are peppering for the concert coming up soon. Disruption- the disruption in this film is when Connor parents Robert and Penny announce that they are splitting up. However, on the day of the Connor practicing his concert and he has been hopping to see Raphina turning up, but at the end she never did. At this time Connor went to his house where she lived before and found out that she left with her boyfriend to London.
  • 3. Restored order- not long after Raphina came back and found Connor. And the concert day finally came and when the band is playing the last song, Raphina finally shows up. Equilibrium again- at the end of the film where all the happiness is back together. And this is where Connor asks his brother to take him to his grandfather boat and his brother agree to take him. And this is when Connor and Raphina got on to the boat and left Dublin Ireland and head off to London. Genre The main genre of the movie Sing Street is musical comedy. Where there are many funny and stupid scene where teenagers was just acting how teenagers should be, which made the movie run smoothly with their genre. However, the including many different song in the movie establishes its musical genre, and with the use of song lyrics it shows how they are really like in their life. Additionally, throughout this movie there is social realism that is included in there. As this movie imply the working class people and how they are trying to live their live like, and there are some poorer character that lives in flats, which established the different between higher class, medium class and lower class. Moreover, Sing Street also includes the genre of romance where teenagers are building up their love relationship. For example, where Conor/Cosmo and Raphina went through many things together and in the end, they end up leaving their hometown to London to create their new live. Purpose The Sing Street is a feature film where films are mostly fiction and fantasy included where it could be real event but scriptwriter would add more drama into it. The purpose of making a feature film are to make profit, which at the same time it will enable carers and crew to explore and open their acting career as they was able to show their skills throughout the film. However, the money that were used to create the film will fortunately earn back which allow the film making crew to create more new film and this would be carrying on again and again. As well as, feature film might be seen as an object to make money for the entertainment industry, but there are still audience who are interested in fantasy film like that, which could also be a purpose of people making feature film. Those are film that could make people emotional, laugh and cry where many feeling would be put inside and related to the audience and this is one of the reason and purpose why people like to watch feature film. The budget of this movie was around $4 million, as the box office was around $13.6 million, which was a financial success. As an audience of Sing Street, I think this movie has mostly reach their purpose that was to make profit. But to me I think that Sing Street has many emotional scene where teenagers is trying to live for their dream and be who they wanted to be which most teenagers audience would feel how the character feel which I think is a success movie. Audience The target audience of audience of the Sing Street would be around teenagers to adult audience. As the main character in this film is all teenagers back in to 1980s which many teenagers would be attracted however the movie was set in the 80s which the adult now a

The Director of this movie Sing Street is John Carney, which is a master director for music-films, as many musical film fans audience already know. On the other hand, this movie is about what teenagers go through and how they become successful, and people who like to relate themselves and watching others successful may like to watch this movie. However, this movie would be aiming at working class or middle class as they could relate themselves to the character , as higher class people are likely to watch as well as musical genre movie can attract many different kind of audience as music can infection many people. Message and values The message and values of the sing street is trying to get across the audience that if you have dream you should chase it and not to give up without trying or even half way. However, the movie also suggest to the audience that following your dream can be hard and many different things could get in the way, but with trying and effort you will make it in the end. As this movie also get across that there are many people outside in the world are struggling in their family and condition life, and with passion and effect you put in you might be able to change all the things at the end. On the other hand, sometime when you achieve something or get something after a long way through, you might also lose something on the way or at the end. As the character n sing street did follow his dream and able to leave the small area that he is living in and move to London, but at the same time he lost his family.
