Sing Street is an independent Irish musical romantic comedy film from the 1980s. It tells the story of a boy named Conor who forms a band to impress a girl he likes after moving to a new rough school. The band shoots their first music video and aims to have their first big concert. Though Conor's relationship with the girl hits obstacles, they ultimately end up fleeing to England together. The film follows a typical narrative cycle from an initial equilibrium to disruption, recognition of a problem, reaction through forming the band, and a new equilibrium with the girl. It conveys messages about finding belief in yourself and performance serving as wish fulfillment.
