Seyi Odusoga conducted secondary research to identify the target audience for their hip hop music video. Their initial assumption was that the audience would be mostly young adult black males aged 16-25. However, further research showed that while the primary target audience is male aged 16-24 from a black ethnicity and C2 social class, the secondary target audience includes females aged 12-34 from any ethnicity in the C1 social class. Research from sources like XXL Magazine, SlideShare, and MusicMachinery demonstrated that hip hop appeals most to younger black males, but also has popularity among other groups.
