The Limited Visibility & Concealable Antenna (LVCA) is based on the proven
patch-panel antenna configuration, but exceeds traditional patch-panel antenna
performance in several areas. First, the LVCA is a broadband antenna effective
for operations within the 30-512 MHz frequency range. Second, in spite of its
broad-band operation, the LVCA requires no tuning or operator intervention.
Third, the LVCA transmits via circular polarization to eliminate “dead zones” or
the need for any directional alignment. Because of its Omni-directional
transmission and compact design, the LVCA can be worn discreetly and
efficiently anywhere on the operator’s body—tucked in a pocket, or attached
via hook-and-loop patches to the radio or radio pouch. No more whip antennas
poking the operator in the back, catching on door frames or snagging on
obstacles when entering or exiting a vehicle.
In sum, while the broad frequency LVCA won’t go head-to-head with a tuned
and frequency specific whip antenna, it covers 90% of the operational
requirements of urban and open battlefield troops and operators—all with
reduced weight and a more discreet, tactical-friendly profile.

OPERATIONAL DESCRIPTION
MIPR compatibility offers full router interface and
capabilities with Unicast Multicast and Broadcast
addressing with RIP OSPF PIM and IGMP routing
protocols DHCP server and NAT. Newly developed
tactical communication radio system provides
increased data transport capability to soldiers at the
tactical edge of the battlefield. The high network
capacity - up to 8 Mbps for increased situation
awareness and higher troop survivability. MIPR has
completed developmental test and evaluation.
The MIPR has convergence with voice, video and
data over secured IP radio network, built in voice, real
time traffic prioritization Mobile Ad-Hoc Network up to
150 members. Self forming / self healing, multi-hop,
automatic relay function with no single point of failure.
The MIPR is mobile or stationary and has advanced
QoS mechanisms, advanced MAC, Combined
Random Access, FDMA and TDMA optimized for
streaming (voice and video) and advanced modem
high capacity NLOS capability.

Global Network OTM – Active Distribution (GNOMAD)
• On-the-Move Ku-Band Terminal — Takes advantage of global satellite
coverage to provide network connectivity anywhere, even in motion. Also
available in X-Band with Ka-Band in development.
• Extends Any TCP/IP Network — SIPRNET, NIPRNET, CENTRIX,
commercial internet, and client/server applications such as C2PC/Blue-
Force Tracker, medical records, and biometrics.
• Secure Communications — Supports encryption devices currently in use

Pathmaker™ Network Radios
Pathmaker Network Radios provide dynamic wireless, mobile,
self-forming and self-healing ad-hoc networking
communications without reliance on network infrastructure.
Pathmaker radio users become their own network, which
makes the radios ideal for use in campus environments,
remote locations where no infrastructure exists, or where
infrastructure has been compromised, destroyed or
overloaded. While Pathmaker radios require no infrastructure,
an optional system gateway allows the radios to communicate
with existing fixed infrastructure networks, including: Land
Mobile Radio (P25) and IP. This network interoperability can
extend coverage, fill gaps, provide surge capacity, and provide
redundant systems for times where there is network outage
due to intentional or unintentional events.
The Pathmaker Network Radio is a small, light weight, durable
hand held radio that consists of a radio terminal, rechargeable
battery pack, and antenna. The radio operates in the IMS
band of 2.40 GHz to 2.485 GHz with a bandwidth of 2.04 MHz,
and supports up to 40 individual RF channels. The radio
operates a dynamic mobile ad-hoc MESH networking
waveform that supports multiple users on a single RF channel,
and supports simultaneous voice and data communications. It
provides these capabilities without the need for supporting
network infrastructure.

The WGS C4ISR OTM capability is comprised of a
dual band WGS OTM SATCOM terminal that can
operates at both X-band and Ka-band
simultaneously. The Ka-band link is used to retain
WIN-T Inc-2 capability already on the Co CDR’s
SNE and create a ISR dedicated channel at X-band
to facilitate high speed collaboration between the
CoIST, Co CDR and Bn TAC (S2) while BLOS. The
KnightHawk and KnightLite 3G tactical base-
stations provide user access to ISR products , Apps
and collaborative services while OTM or
dismounted.

Multi-node Air-to-Ground-to-Ground System (MAGGS)
MAGGS is a high bandwidth radio which can connect to aerial
ISR assets and a ground network simultaneously. This allows
the creation of air-to-ground-to-ground configurations.
MAGGS has two models: vehicle mount or handheld. This
enables configurations which include UAVs, SUGVs, vehicles
or squad members. Standard IP data is transported over a bi-
directional, mesh, network; tailored to fit the mission needs.
MAGGS is applicable for missions such as convoy protection,
IED defeat, FOB protection, ISR overwatch, patrol team recon,
building clearance, and overall data transport.
MAGGS supports standard IP networking; transport video,

SWARMnet™ On Demand Communications (ODC™)
SWARMnet and ODC were designed to provide secure LTE data
rates of 100Mbps/50Mbps to soldiers in austere and varying
tactical environments on-the-move and at-the-halt whether fixed,
mounted, aerial or portable. ODC’s SWARM (ad hoc network )
and provide a scalable, fault tolerant, tactical network that
conforms to the requirements of any mission. Robust 2-two way
voice, video and data to every soldier increases situational
awareness which in-turn facilitates lethality and survivability.
Enabling the soldier to understand their local environment,
whereabouts of team members, targets, and civilians population
at all times protects, empowers and unburdens the soldier.
LTE is a worldwide standard for high wireless broadband data
based on a hub and spoke network architecture. Lemko
SWARMnet ™ is an LTE network based on an internet IP
architecture. The Lemko ODC™ software includes all of the
elements for voice, SMS and data (200 kbps to 100Mbps).
Each ODC™ is comprised of a radio, server platform and
software license. The solution supports commercial cellular
frequencies from 700 MHz to 2.6 GHz. The ODC™ is available
in a variety of form factors including a battery operated man

Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET); transparent, on-the-fly and
over-the-air network management and reconfiguration.

Nett Warrior
The Nett Warrior (NW) program focuses on the development of
Situational Awareness and Mission Command capabilities for
the dismounted leader. Nett Warrior has the ability to
graphically display the location of an individual leader’s
position, as well as the positions of other Nett Warrior
equipped leaders, on a digital geo-referenced map image. Nett
Warrior is connected through a secure radio capable of
sending and receiving data and position location information
from one Nett Warrior to another. Nett Warrior also allows the
leader to receive higher echelon information products, to assist
in decision making and mission planning, by connecting the
leader to the mid-tier network. Nett Warrior will increase the
leader’s Situational Awareness and Command & Control
capabilities, while greatly reducing the potential for fratricide.
The Nett Warrior capability provides overmatch
operational capabilities to all dismounted ground
combat leaders and small unit operations. The Nett
Warrior is an integrated dismounted leader situational
awareness (SA) system for use during combat
operations. Nett Warrior provides SA to the
dismounted leader, allowing for faster and more
accurate decisions in the tactical fight. With advanced
navigation, SA, and information sharing capabilities,
leaders are able to avoid fratricide and are more
effective and more lethal in the execution of their
combat missions.

The VDU-100 Series gives the Soldier the ability to
transmit video from its point of collection (i.e., fixed or portable
cameras & imagers, unmanned vehicle ground control stations,
video downlinks, etc.) to any authorized user. Once encoded,
the video can be transmitted over UHF/VHF LOS, UHF
SatCom, ANW2, SRW, BGAN, GSM/CDMA, and Wireless
Mesh. The encrypted video can be viewed on standard
viewing devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones to
provide real-time mission information to decision makers.
The VDU-100MR/MRS are capable of accepting two analog
video inputs, from different devices, at the same time. With its
internal Ethernet switch the operator can also attach and
transmit a second sensor’s data simultaneously with the video.

PODS 2.1
Picatinny Optical Detection System (PODS) 2.1 is an optical
augmentation (OA) system, designed specifically to detect,
track and automatically display the location of optical
observation devices used in remote observation at ranges of
up to approximately one kilometer in bright daylight or lowlight
conditions. PODS 2.1 can be handheld or tripod mounted
since it is packaged into a compact form factor (~4.5lbs/ 165
in3) utilizing state-of-the-art camera and laser technologies.
PODS 2.1 provides the capability to locate and situate
potential optical threats prior to engagement. This target range

Currently funded through a 2011 Army Rapid Innovation Fund
(RIF) award, Prowl is a compact, portable surveillance radar that
provides robust detection and tracking of dismounts and vehicles
for several months in challenging operational environments such
as foliage, riverine and mountainous terrain. An ultra low-power
compact radar enabled with advanced real-time signal
processing supports long-endurance sensing performance that
provides significant advantages over existing UGS (i.e. seismic,
acoustic, magnetic, passive infrared) in terms of detection range,
false alarms and target discrimination capabilities.
Prowl has been designed to provide the capabilities of
advanced radar at size, weight and power (SWaP) levels
consistent with battery operated, long endurance Unattended
Ground Sensors (UGS). Features of the design include: an
actively steered phased array antenna; a low noise, highly
sensitive RF receiver and transmitter board; and a low-power
baseband processing and low power microcontroller section.
Together, these system components have been optimized over
several development spirals resulting in the current small form
factor system that consumes ~1.5 W in operation (a 6x
reduction compared to competitive micro-radars). This long
endurance was enabled through a combination of careful
balancing of system duty cycles, co-design of hardware and
software power management, and selection of low power
electronic components.

TALOS
TALOS operates autonomously in a wide variety of
operational scenarios - force, border and facility
protection. TALOS provides tracking of human and
vehicular targets and highly mobile (man pack) and
deployed within minutes. TALOS does not require
infrastructure (such as electricity). System designed
for continuous operation for unlimited amount of time
and supports mesh networking between radars in
order to provide perimeter surveillance capability.
TALOS is an unattended ground sensor, low-cost
ground radar. With hundreds of meters range,
TALOS provides real-time detection and tracking of
humans and vehicles within a monitored area all
operational environments. To ensure accurate
detection of moving items of interest, TALOS utilizes
a high-resolution, state-of-the-art, digital beam-

Configuration
Mortar positions are one of the most critical defense assets for
small bases. Conventional mortar pits take up to 200 man-
hours to construct when engineer equipment is not available
and thus they may go unprotected for days or weeks in
resource-constrained environments. An Expedient Mortar Pit
has been developed for these scenarios. It is formed from wall
components of the ERDC-developed Modular Protective
System (MPS), a modular rapidly-emplaced passive protection
system for resource-constrained environments. The mortar pit
application of MPS is rapidly constructed with minimal
manpower and provides all functionality of conventional mortar
pits and protection against most direct- and indirect fire threats.
The Expedient Mortar Pit is intended for austere
logistically-constrained environments. It is highly
adaptable to varied terrains and space constraints
and provides the same functionality and same or
better protection levels than conventional pits.
Its basic layout has been developed in close
coordination with the Maneuver Center of Excellence
to ensure compatibility with doctrine. It can easily be
constructed by a 4-man squad in less than 1 hour
and is contained within 1 tricon, with weight low
enough for hot, high altitude helicopter sling load to
remote locations.

Multi-Purpose Expedient Guard Tower
Construction of conventional guard towers requires engineer
support and considerable manpower and time if construction
equipment is not available. For this purpose, the ERDC is
developing a self-contained rapidly constructed multi-purpose
guard tower for either elevated or ground-level application. The
versatile tower facilitates rapid establishment of over-watch
positions, provides protection from most direct and indirect fire
threats (including direct-hit overhead), and can also be
configured as a ground-level guard post/fighting position. It
utilizes the standardized and validated armoring system from
ERDC’s Modular Protective System (MPS). It is fully contained
within a heli-liftable Quadcon, which also forms its elevating
base. As soil- or concrete fill is not required to achieve high
levels of protection, it is easily recovered.
The multi-purpose tower will provide elevated
perimeter and ECP over-watch or ground-level
guard post or fighting position for austere logistically-
constrained environments. It is completely self-
contained within 1 tricon, which also serves as the
elevating base support. It is constructed by a 6-man
team in less than 1 hour, with minimal training. The
system weight (including tricon) is low enough for
hot, high altitude helicopter sling load to remote
locations.

Sky Watch Huginn X1 sUAS
The Sky Watch Huginn X1 is a 1.35KG (3lbs) SUAS
and is designed to be used by forces such as light
infantry, airborne forces, special operations teams
with the ability to deliver classic SUAS capability in a
powerful, small, rugged, portable, easy-to-use, easy
to maintain package. A variety of sensors is available,
the ease of use of the SUAS serves as a force
multiplier by enabling all Soldiers of a unit to operate
the SUAS. The X1 provides quick deploy UAS
capability while not negatively impacting the load of
forces in either weight or volume/size.
The Sky Watch Huginn X1 SUAS is an ultra user friendly, semi
autonomous helicopter-type UAV. Anybody can be trained to
operate it within a few minutes. It is robust, light (3lbs),
foldable, with 1 minute deployment time and 25 minutes
endurance/1.5 mile operating range. Dual cameras offer both
HD and thermal video/still with look at function and way points.
It operates with drag & drop functionality using the graphic
user interface in combination with any Windows 7 compatible
laptop or single hand control. Battery packs are
interchangeable with UAS/ground station and can be charged
with any 12v DC/110/220 AC power. The communications
module is either 868 MHZ or 900 MHZ depending on needs,

The Skylark I Block 2 SUAS provides the most
capable EO/IR imagery available on an Army
SUAS system (NIIRS 7.8 / 7.3 at 1000 ft AGL).
The redesigned Skylark is the easiest system to
hand-launch in its class of Long Range SUAS;
increasing operational readiness and reducing
costs associated with failed launches. The
auto-directional GDT and recently integrated L3
BANDIT DDL provided extended range (~30
KM) and interoperability with the family of
ROVER remote video terminals.
The Skylark I Block 2 SUAS is designed to
provide the battalion and below an enhanced
SUAS system capable of operating at higher
altitudes while still providing usable imagery for
various RSTA missions. Proven in Kunar
Province with the 101st ABN DIV, the latest Block
2 configuration extends mission range, altitude,
and endurance (~2.5 hours) while reducing the
operator’s cognitive load through it’s unique
‘camera guide’ mode – allowing the operator to
focus on the mission, not the air vehicle.

Avatar II Tactical Robot
The Avatar II system consists of a base robot platform, a ruggedized
handheld controller with video display, and a variety of plug and play
accessories – all of which are extremely user-friendly.
The platform is weatherproof and highly versatile, capable of negotiating
sand, gravel, grass, and rocks with ease, as well as climbing stairs. The
system features several patented and patent-pending innovations that
improve performance, including “no-jam” tracks, guaranteed track
retention, and an advanced power management system that requires only
a single 2590 battery that can be easily inserted and removed.

The speed bag consists of a padded supply bag, 100
ft. of pre-spooled rope, and a linear braking system.
The bag is capable of delivering up to 150 lb. of
ammunition and other supplies. The bag has
appropriate padding on the bottom and sides to
protect a 150 lb supply drop. The rope release
system is capable of controlling the speed of descent
and orientation of the bag to minimize the loss of
supplies due to damage on impact. The linear
braking system returns with the aircraft for reuse, and
the bag and rope are considered consumable. Cost
of expended items per use is under $100.
Speed Bag
The speed bag is intended to efficiently deliver squad-level
ammunition and other supplies from a rotary winged aircraft
from upwards of 100 feet above ground level. The bags are
positioned in the doors of the aircraft in preparation for
delivery. When at the drop zone, the bags are pushed out the
door and descend at the end of a thin rope feeding from a
small spool through a linear braking system to control descent.
The rope stays attached to the bag and the free end pulls
through the brake at 100’, dropping free of the helicopter. The
helicopter can then fly away and the soldiers can recover the
supplies. The total descent time of the bag is approximately
five seconds.

than 50 lbs, so no more than 2 Soldiers are required to carry
any component. Components have also been designed to be
easily transportable in vehicles such as the extended M1152
HMMWV.
The Lightweight Infantry Footbridge is designed to provide
ground patrols with the means to defeat wet or dry gaps with
natural or man-made end conditions, as well as move across
building rooftops during urban fighting situations. The bridge
can be assembled and deployed by up to two Soldiers. The
design intent of the Lightweight Infantry Footbridge is to
provide a bridging capability that is Soldier-portable, easily and
quickly emplaced and recoverable.
