This document provides the syllabus and teaching schedule for the course EE-321N Power Electronics-I. The course is worth 4 credits and covers various topics over 5 units across 45 total lectures. Unit 1 introduces power electronics and power devices, covering ideal switches, power diodes, thyristors, and thyristor protection circuits. Unit 2 covers thyristor triggering circuits using resistors, RC circuits, UJTs, and ICs. Units 3 and 4 cover single and three phase AC-DC controlled converters using full wave and semi converters with resistive and inductive loads. Unit 5 covers miscellaneous converters including switching angle control schemes, dual converters, and cycloconverters. References for further reading are also provided.
