The Suzhou Museum in China was designed by Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei. It is located in the historic center of Suzhou city, which has a history of 2,500 years. The museum is adjacent to the 16th century Garden of the Humble Administrator, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the 19th century Zhong Wang Fu palace complex, a National Historic Landmark. The museum building features special designed wall running water, light coming in from the ceiling, shadows of door handles, and a courtyard behind curtains.
