Carlie McCoy chose to keep a scientist and doctor on the island to help find a cure and treat medical issues. She also chose to keep a 5-year-old girl to continue her education with the help of a university professor, who could serve as a mentor. Most of the other candidates were rejected due to concerns about consuming limited resources, needing extensive care, or posing potential risks to stability and safety.

a. scientist: I chose to keep him because he could find a possible cure, along with help
grow food for the ones there.
b. priest: I did not keep the priest because in the supply of books I figured there would
be a Bible for people to read if they choose.
c. married couple who are hippies and drug addicts: I did not keep them because they
would take all medical supplies to include medicine and have major withdrawals when
all supplies are gone.
d. a single pregnant woman with a 5-year-old girl: I did not keep the pregnant woman
because she will eat all of our food, and there is a possibility she may not survive child
birth. However, I kept the kid because she is still in the learning stages of life and can
become anything.
e. a army officer who has mental instability of some sort but is useful nonetheless: I did
not keep him because you don’t know what mental issues he has and when he could
have a mental breakdown.
f. an elderly woman: I did not keep her because she can no longer reproduce and is
fragile, meaning she will need a lot of attentiveness and care.
g. a disabled person: I did not keep because they would need constant care along with
a lot of extra supplies.

h. lawyer: I did not keep him because he would argue a lot along with there is no need
to file a suit against someone because nothing would come of it.
i. lazy welfare dependent: I did not keep this person because they are lazy and do
nothing as it is, that is why that are a lazy welfare dependent.
j. doctor: I keep him because he is a Dr. meaning he can treat injuries and work towards
finding a cure.
k. university professor: I would keep the professor because this would be a great mentor
for the five-year-old to help her get a start in learning. Plus it gives her a one on one
experience.
