A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. Once you understand that the older man is Hitler, then you start to wonder what is taking place. After taking a second glance you can see that Hitler is smiling, almost as if he is up to something. Hitler always did things to better himself, and you can assume this is just the same. After researching, Hitler had a group called Hitler Youth. This was a male based group, and it was like our military commitment where you are able to be sent at 18 as a male. The boys in this time had no way of not being a part of Hitler Youth. Because of a male not having a choice to not be in Hitler Youth and Hitler taking over more due to that, I believe that is while he is happy and smiling. As we all can see, this boy looks to be around five years of age. If we analyze his facial expression, it like he is “looking up” to Hitler, but that he has no idea what is taking place. I say that because the young child has a blank stare, and this is a look we all give when we are out in left field and lost on what is happening. In conclusion, I think he is inducting this child into Hitler Youth because he is having a firm hand shake, and grinning with that look of “you are mine now.” You can not tell by this photo is the child is happy or not about it, the only thing you can tell is that he is puzzled.
