The document describes a scenario where a flu virus has wiped out the global population except for 13 survivors who have taken shelter in an underground bunker. 1. SURVIVOR
What the assignment was about:
There was a flu virus that spread and wiped out the entire earth population
except thirteen people. Those survivors include a scientist, a priest, a married couple
who were hippies and drug addicts, a single pregnant woman with a five year old girl, an
army officer who has mental instability of some sort but is useful nonetheless, an elderly
woman, a disabled person, a lawyer, a lazy welfare dependent, a doctor, and a
university professor. The survivors are able to make it to a bunker with only enough
resources to accommodate four people, but if all thirteen stay those resources will only
last for a maximum of six months. In order to outlive the flu virus they need to survive for
two years. The facilities in bunker, that the four chosen survivors will live in for two
years, include a sewage system, water, seeds, some clothes, a few books, some
medical facilities however no operation material, and a greenhouse.
As the second part of the assignment all the groups would discuss which four
people out of the thirteen survivors would live and which eight would be killed off. We
were told we could decide the sex and specific concentration of the four survivors we
choose. My group and I decided to keep the scientist, the army office with mental
instability but still useful, the doctor and the university professor. For the four the
survivors we thought it would be a good idea to have two males and 2 females, so the
two males were the army officer with mental instability and the scientist while the two
females were the doctor and the university professor. Now as the job concentration for
the four the female university professor is a botanist, and as for the other three they are
just a regular scientist, regular army office, and regular doctor.
The reason as to why we are wanting to keep the doctor is because they would
have the knowledge about the human body therefore if someone would start to get
sick/hurt they would know a few ways to heal and make them feel better. The reason as
to why we are wanting to keep the university professor and why we decided to make
them a botanist it the fact they would have the knowledge on plants and there were
seeds in the bunker so therefore he could help grow some food. The reason as to why
we are wanting to keep the scientist is because they would have a wide aray of
knowledge about multiple things, therefore being able to help out the doctor and the
university professor whenever the help would be needed. The reason as to why we are
wanting to keep the army officer is because they have already been through basic
training to get ready to fight a war, so if the others try to get into a fight with another they
could possibly be able to stop and or control it.
The reason as to why we killed off the priest is because we felt that there was no
need for someone religious. The reason as to why we killed off the married couple who
are hippies and drug addicts is because even though they would know a lot about drugs
since they are drug addicts to would more than likely take all the drugs. The reason as

2. to why we killed off the single pregnant woman with a five year old kid is because if
something went wrong during the time for her to give birth there would be no medical
equipment to help and the five year old kid would need to eat a lot in order to grow up
healthy and there is not a lot of food to suffice that. The reason as to why we killed off
the elderly woman is because she is old and would die soon anyway. The reason as to
why we killed off the disabled person is because they are disabled and it wouldn’t
matter if they were just mentally disabled or physically disabled they would be no help.
The reason as to why we killed off the lawyer is because we are just trying to survive a
flu virus not go to court. And the reason as to why we killed off the lazy welfare
dependent is because if they are lazy and dependent they would more than likely be no
help in trying to survive.
