SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) is a software system used to monitor and control industrial, infrastructure, or facility-based processes. It involves gathering data from remote systems in real-time, such as sensors and equipment, and sending commands to control equipment. SCADA has common components including remote terminal units to interface with physical devices, programmable logic controllers for automation, and human-machine interfaces for operators. The use of SCADA has evolved from early expensive mainframe-based systems to today's more automated and cost-efficient technologies using new communication networks.

5. What is SCADA?
SCADA (supervisory control and
data acquisition) is a category of software
application program for process control,
the gathering of data in real time from
remote locations in order to control
equipment and conditions.

7. History of SCADA :
>SCADA systems became popular in the
1960's as the need to monitor and control
remote gear grew.
>Early systems were built from main frame
computers and required human oversight to
operate. This made early system expensive to
use and maintain.
> Today, with new technology, SCADA systems
are much more automated. They can serve
efficiently. This reduces cost and overhead to
companies with network alarming needs.

10. Remote Terminal Unit(RTU) :
A remote terminal unit (RTU) is a
microprocessor controlled electronic device that
interfaces objects in the physical world to a
distributed control system or SCADA system by
transmitting telemetry data to a master system
by using messages from the master supervisory
system to control connected objects. Other terms
that may be used for RTU is remote telemetry unit
or remote tele control unit.

13. Single board RTU :
Which is compact , and contains
All I/O on a single board . the single board
normally has fixed.
Eg: (16 digital inputs,8 digital outputs,
8 analog inputs, and say 4 analog outputs ).

14. Modular RTU :
which has a separate CPU module and can have
other modules added normally by plugging in into a
common ‘Black plane’
( a bit like a pc motherboard and plug in
peripheral cards)is designed to be explained by adding
additional modules.

done by PLCs (programmable logic controller). Using
this, a project can be done with effective increase of
speed, and meaningful processing.

digital numeric values that can be
manipulated by a computer.
