The Evolution of Islamic Finance and Financial Institutions
The evolution of Islamic finance now takes place in most of the countries, whether in Muslim
countries or non Muslim countries. Islamic finance institutions perform the same essential functions as
financial institutions do in the conventional system, except that there is a need for them to carry out
their transactions in accordance with the rules and principles of Islam. One of the most growing parts
of the Islamic finance is Islamic equity market. In principle, Islamic equity market is characterized by
the absence of interest based transactions, doubtful transactions and unlawful stocks of companies
which deal in non shariah compliance activities or items. Its market activities must be free from any of
unethical or immoral elements.
The emergence of several Islamic indices such as the Dow Jones Islamic index has offered better
screening processes to both Muslim and non Muslims investors. The existence of the shariah
screening process in the stock market will enable Muslim investors to invest into companies that run
the permissible activities in the businesses. The Dow Jones Islamic Market Index (DJIM), launched in
1999 in Bahrain, was first benchmark to represent Islamic compliant portfolios and for investors
seeking investments in compliance with Muslim Shariah law. The DJIM in essence is a specialized
ethical index that screens out prohibited stocks, as defined by Shariah law, and it is monitored by
Muslim scholars. Malaysia is recognized as one of the dynamic

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Adaptive Histogram...
2.1.6 Histogram Equalization
The luminance histogram of a exemplary natural scene that has been linearly quantized is commonly
highly skewed toward the darker levels; a majority of the pixels possess a luminance lower than the
average. In similar images, detail in the darker regions is often not visible. One means of enhancing
these types of images is a method called histogram modification, in which the original image is
rescaled so that the histogram of the intensified image follows some desired form [6]. This method
also assumes the detail carried by an image is related to the possibility of occurrence of each gray
level. To maximize the detail, the transformation should redistribute the possibilities of occurrence of
the gray level to make it identical. In this way, the contrast at every gray level is proportional to the
altitude of the image histogram [7]. Several modifications of histogram equalization are also available
which expansion its potential of contrast enhancement. Adaptive histogram equalization (AHE) [8]
and Contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) [9] belong to that classification which

This is also as preparation of the next step where the histogram will be divided into two regions based
on its average value. The stretched histogram will provide a better pixel distribution of the image
channels and thus gives a more accurate average value of the channel which represents the average
value of the channel for the whole dynamic range. The equation (6) is used to stretch the histogram of
respective color channel to the whole dynamic range. Pin and Pout are the input and output pixels,
respectively, and imin, imax, omin, and omax are the minimum and maximum intensity level values
for the input and output images,

Psychoanalysis And Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Psychoanalysis Psychoanalysis is based on psychoanalytic theory postulated by the renowned
Viennese neurologist Sigmund Freud between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and
has been reactualizándose. A little too summarizes our psyche conceived as dynamic consists of a
conscious and an unconscious part. This theory postulates that, many times, which does not allow us
to live peacefully past traumas are hidden in the unconscious, and that we must make conscious to
overcome. It is the famous couch therapy, introspection, free association. It asks the patient to say
everything you think omitting the smallest detail, however insignificant or ridiculous it may seem,
because everything has a meaning, even dreams. Thus a reconstruction of what experienced from early
childhood, because this perspective puts much emphasis on the influence of this stage in our present
emotional well done. This causes a type of therapy is quite extensive in time. Humanistic therapy ...

Cognitive behavioral therapy From a cognitive behavioral perspective is known that to solve a
problem to have to change certain behaviors, are in a very broad sense, considering each other s
thoughts, feelings and emotions. Cognitive behavioral therapy has two parts, one is the thinking about
the problem. It is the responsibility of the patient to fully contribute to defining the problem that is just
what is concerned and takes you to see. Once the vision that the patient has his problem under the
guidance of your therapist established a functional analysis of the problem, enunciating in operational
and modifiable terms is performed. Thus securing the goals of therapy and treatment begins. This is
the establishment of a program to modify behaviors, thoughts and feelings relevant to the maintenance
problem. This type of therapy seems to know how to manage anxiety, as has solved problems such as
phobias, obsessions and other associated

Petitioner V. Kulbicki Case Study
the court case Maryland, Petitioner v. James Kulbicki, James Kulbicki fatally shot his 22 year old
mistress. Kulbicki shot his mistress on the weekend before he was scheduled for a hearing on unpaid
child support, which was tied into a paternity suit between Kulbicki and his mistress. At Kulbicki s
trial, which began in 1995, evidence was presented that the bullet removed from the head of Kulbicki
s mistress matched the bullet fragment that was left in Kulbicki s truck. FBI Agent Ernest Peele, who
represented the CBLA (Comparative Bullet Lead Analysis), presented this evidence. Peele also
examined a bullet taken from Kulbicki s gun. Even though the bullet in the victim s brain was not an
exact match to the bullet found in the gun, Peele assumed that the bullet from the gun was similar
enough to the first two bullets found. Using ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kulbicki s file stayed in the state court until 2006, when Kulbicki added an additional claim that his
defense attorneys did not adequately question the legitimacy of the ballistics evidence presented by
the CBLA. Kulbucki lost in the state courts and then appealed to the Court of Appeals of Maryland.
The Court of Appeals then vacated Kulbucki s conviction based on the fact that Kulbucki s attorneys
did not question the legitimacy of the ballistics evidence, thus the defense attorneys did not provide
Kulbucki with effective assistance during the trial. However, the Supreme Court of the United States
held, in a per curiam opnion, that the Court of Appeals based the decision to vacate Kulbicki s
conviction on contemporary views of ballistic evidence. Since there was no reason for counsel to
investigate the validity of the ballistic evidence in 1995, the attorneys provided effective assistance to
Kulbicki because effective assistance did not require attorneys to verify the legitimacy of the ballistic
evidence (Maryland v. Kulbicki, 136 S. Ct. 2

What Does The Parables Say About The Kingdom Of God
Journal 8
Psalm 103:19 reads, The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over
all. As highlighted in this verse, the Kingdom of God spans across both earth and heaven and rules
over them with equal authority. Much of what we know about the Kingdom of God comes from the
parables Jesus told during his earthly ministry. On the surface, it may be hard to determine just what
Jesus is saying about the Kingdom of God. By considering the deeper meanings of parables, however,
it is possible to see exactly what the parables reveal about the Kingdom of God and what
hermeneutical implications that has for our lives.
To discover what the parables say about the Kingdom of God, they must first be interpreted. Jesus
himself can be found saying that parables contain mysteries on the inside. Sometimes, however,
finding the deeper meaning for a parable can be tricky. To make the task of interpreting parables
easier, it helps to find out Jesus audience. Jesus did not intend for us to be unable to understand his
parables. Rather, he fully intended for them to shed light on the Kingdom of God, sometimes we just
need to dig a little deeper with an open heart and open eyes.
After interpreting the parables that deal with the Kingdom of God, it is possible to determine some
characteristics of the Kingdom of God. With Jesus arrival, he brought with him the Kingdom, hence
the reason he is explaining it to people via parables. While Jesus already brought the Kingdom of God,
it is also not here yet. God s kingdom reconciliation has begun on this earth but will not be completed
until Jesus comes again to finish it completely. Jesus first coming was the beginning of the end for the
Kingdom of God. Beyond that, Jesus reveals many other things about the Kingdom of God. For
example, from the mustard seed parable, the Kingdom of God is like the nature of a mustard seed in
that it started small but is growing very large. In addition, Jesus explains the four different responses
people have to the Kingdom of God in the parable of the sower by explaining the outcome of seed
planted on four different types of soil. Some do not understand it, some fall away after troubles, some
become unfruitful because of

the Professional Footballers Association, with the purpose of campaigning against racism in football
and providing assistance, in the way of advice and support, for professional football clubs to follow in
dealing with racism in the game. It was renamed in 1997 as Kick It Out , an organisation seeking
equality and inclusion within football at professional and grassroots levels. The organisation works
within the football, educational and community sectors in an attempt to stand against discrimination,
seek inclusion and make an overall positive impact on football as a whole. Kick It Out was set up after

This is done is by educating young people through a series of workshops. There are three different
workshops available; Defending Against Discrimination (for grassroots teams aged 10+), Kick Off the
Conversation (for all ages interested in football) and One Team: Team Leadership and Inclusion (for
University teams). The grassroots workshop is vital in establishing children s attitude towards
discrimination at a young and impressionable age, educating them about the seriousness of the
situation and the potential consequences of adverse attitudes and behaviour. The workshops available
for all ages, are set up to get people involved in the topic by talking about and debating the problems.
The workshop aimed at University teams is particularly important as it strives to educate, empower
and engage the students, creating leaders willing to accept and appreciate diversity and take a stance
against discrimination within the game. A more recent inclusion into the workshop education is to
provide a programme in prisons and young offenders institutions. All these workshops can be run as
interactive or by way of assemblies and presentations and can be designed to meet the needs of the

Debra Hain and Laureen M. Fleck. Barriers to Nurse Practitioner Practice that Impact Healthcare

2016. Barriers to Nurse Practitioner Practice that Impact Healthcare Redesign is the article written by
two physicians, Debra Hain and Laureen M. Fleck. The two physicians explain the barriers and
setbacks that the scope of practice prevents APNs from practicing from. This article also gives
suggestions of what steps they think should be taken in order to completely make the scope of practice
fair for everyone who has been trained to practice specific skills. This will be extremely beneficial to
my proposal because Hain and Fleck describe the same steps to completely even the scope of practice
that I am proposing. I will be using this article mainly in my first and second body paragraph so the
readers know quickly what I am proposing and that there is support from physicians on my side as
well. This will hook the readers quickly and they will instantly want to know more about how the
scope of practice should be made completely even. The article also gives examples about how the
future of APNs education will look after the scope is made completely equal. While talking about the
future of education, the article mentions The Robert Wood Foundation. This foundation was
previously talked about in my call to action essay, when I first discussed the scope of practice in
nursing. With

Amontillado Montresor Revenge
In the small hours of a cold December night, in 1916, Rasputin was driven to the palace of the Czar s
cousin Prince Yusupov; for what he thought was a secret tryst with a beautiful woman. Together, the
Prince and Rasputin descended the steps to the basement of the palace. It had been specially converted
into a small dining room, a private place to attempt to murder. While the Prince s co conspirators
waited upstairs, Yusupov passed a plate of rich sweet cream cakes to Rasputin. Each cake held enough
cyanide to kill a man. To guarantee success, the wine was also laced with cyanide. The plan seemed
foolproof. Though Rasputin ate the cream cakes and became rather drunk from the wine, the poison
seems to have no effect. Stunned, the conspirators ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A piece of dramatic irony that we are given is that we know Fortunato is going to be killed,
unfortunately Fortunato does not know this. Fortunato s name is even ironic. Fortunato means the
fortunate one in Italian. (Campbell) In the story it is clear he wasn t so fortunate. Fortunato adds to the
irony of his name by wearing the costume of a court jester. While Fortunato plays in jest, Montresor
sets out to fool him, with murderous results. The bells on Fortunato s jester costume plays with the
irony of the story. Roger Platizky writes, To a significant degree, Poe s fear of live burial had a
cultural counterpart. Kennedy and others have shown that premature burial was a preoccupation in
eighteenth and nineteenth century America and Europe largely because death was more often in the
hands of the medical community and funerals had become secularized.(n2) In an attempt to keep
living entombments from occurring, coffins and vaults especially for the wealthier classes were
equipped with special springs and sounding devices to give the person mistakenly buried alive a
chance to be rescued (Crichton 326 28). One of the most pragmatic of these devices, which involved
the placing of bells on the limbs of the recently dead, was exhibited at Brooklyn s Greenwood
Cemetery in 1845, just a year before Poe published his short story. Mr. Eisenbrandt s life preserving

Once in the plains of northern Montana, there was a Blackfoot tribe, who lived separated from nature,
they had lost their way. A great river separated their world in two, and only a divine spirit could get
the 2 sides to come together once again. In this village there lived a widow named Koko. She was a
kind spirit and had given birth to a girl, who she named, little fawn, or Awinita. Koko had a kind heart,
she cared for all things, she wanted to pass these values to her child so she would grow up to be just as
humble and compassionate. One day as Koko went out of her hut when she saw the warriors of the

Buddhism And Their Beliefs Of Buddhism
Buddhism and their beliefs
Buddhism is the largest religioncultural influence in its own way. Buddhism is becoming popular and
well known in the western parts of the world. Hinduism and Buddhism share the same teaching of
karma. They both teach about the cause and effect that karma leaves on one s life. Buddhism s main
goal is to find enlightment. Siddhartha Gautama is the founder of Buddhism. He was born around 600
B.C. to a powerful family in India. He had a comfortable homewith very little experience of the
outside world. He was sheild from many outside influences such as pain, religion and suffering. He
discovered enlightment in the middle way. He discovered the Four Noble Truths : to live is to suffer
(Dukha), suffering is caused by desire (Tanha, or attachment), one can eliminate suffering by
eliminating all attachments. This is attained by following the noble eightfold path. The eightfold path
consists of having a right view, speech, action, livelihood, effort , and mindfulness. The individual
teachings are common to Hinduism. karma, Maya, and a tendency to understand reality as being
pantheistic in its placment. Buddhism today is real diverse. It is divided into the two broad categories
Of Theravada and Mahayana. Theravada is a form which reserves ultimate enlightenment and nirvana.
Mahayana Buddhism extends this goal of enlightenment. Buddha never considered himself to be a god

A Comparison Between Neanderthal And Modern Human Dna
Introduction
Homo heidelbergensis was an early human species that lived around 700,000 to 200,000 years ago.
These pioneers were the first to live in colder climates, hunt large animals with wooden spears, and
utilize fire. They were also our first ancestors to construct simple shelters out of wood and rock.
Interestingly a comparison between Neanderthal and modern human DNA suggests the two lineages
diverged from a common ancestor, most likely Homo heidelbergensis!
Discovery
On October 21, 1907, Daniel Hartmann spotted a jaw while working in a sandpit in Mauer, near
Heidelberg, Germany (49.3389° N, 8.7986° E.) The jaw had human like teeth but was very large and

H. 2000), which were found together with stone tools and the remains of more than 10 butchered
horses. This evidence shows they flourished in a rich and diverse cooling epoch called the Pleistocene,
which was a cooling period with intermittent glaciers covering North America and Europe (Eldredge
2000) and deserts spread over northern Africa separating the populations of plants and animals,
including humans (Zuk 2013). These cooling and recurrent glaciations led to the physical adaptation
of shorter and wider bodies in an attempt to conserve heat in this cooler climate.
Dating
Many fossils of this species have been dated with various methods. One such was by sequencing
mitochondrial DNA from a femur bone found at the Sima de los Huesos ( pit of bones ) in northern
Spain by Svante Paabo, a biologist at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. After
sequencing, researchers compared the result with genetic information from Neanderthals and
Denisovans and dated them to over 300,000 years (Meyer 2013).
Description
The first preserved bones for this species was a lower jaw with teeth, found near Heidelberg,
Germany. Other fossils include 5,500 bone fragments from 28 individuals found in The Pit of Bones ,
Spain, and possibly a fossilized skullcap discovered in northern India s Narmada Valley that currently
represents the easternmost occurrence (Meyer 2013).

The Similarities of Writting Style in Walt Whitman’s “Song...
Throughout time there have been many writers and poets. And with these many writers and poets their
work has been different in what they write about. And their work has made an impact on society and
on others. And yet in this time some writers have influenced the work of others. Walt Whitman and
Allen Ginsberg who are separated by a time gap have a kind of connection. Both of these amazing
writers wrote pieces of work that are considered a catalyst for the Beat Generation. These two
courageous writers went against the norm and wrote about something different. Although they are
different they both explored new topics. Walt Whitman s Song of Myself and Allen Ginsberg s Howl
have similarities right from the first page. The first thing that they both have in common is the
structure of their work. Both Howl and Song of Myself have long lines and they keep like that. Having
these long lines makes the story flow. Doing this in these two works made it have some kind of steady
rhythm so it was easy to read. Also another similarity Whitman had on Ginsberg was at the beginning
of each sentence. In Howl the beginning would always start with who . In Song of Myself the first
word of the line is Nor. This would be happening quite often. Ginsberg and Whitman both wrote about
topics against what other writers would talk about. Whitman would write about sexuality/the human
body and it scared off some of his readers. For example in Song of Myself on page 28 29:

Disadvantages Of Neonicotinoids
Knock Off Inorganic Pesticides to Coconut Trees The Philippines is now facing a serious industry
problem regarding the infestation of coconut scale insects, commonly known as cocolisap, to large
coconut plantations. This plant parasite eats on the leaf of a plant. This prevents photosynthesis
causing the low productivity of the plant. Cosico (2014) stated that, At least 60 percent of the total
coconut farming areas in the country, most of which are in the CALABARZON area, are infected with
cocolisap and it has crossed over to Basilan in Mindanao Region. Due to this, the government released
chemical called neonicotinoids to obviate these cocolisap. It is said that neonicotinoids is effective but

Symbolism In Henry Ossawa Tanner s The Banjo Lesson
Henry Ossawa Tanner s The Banjo Lesson (1893) represents a man and boy sitting in a partially lit
room playing a banjo. The man s gray hair and beard suggest his older age, while the young boy who
accompanies him appears much smaller suggesting he may be around ten years old. The older man sits
in a wooden chair with his feet flat on the floor, while the little boy leans on his left leg. The golden
brown color of the wooden chair contrasts the rest of the image which utilizes darker browns. Only
one leg of the chair remains visible to the viewer. Both the man and the boy are African American.
The bareness of the walls and flooring of the room highlights the two most complex parts of the
image: the man and boy playing a banjo and the white pitcher and blanket atop the counter behind
them.
The two men in The Banjo Lesson sit on a chair in the mid ground of the image. The center of the
image lies where the little boy leans onto the older man s leg. The light in the image shines mainly
upon them, as well. The little boy holds the banjos base in his right hand where he will strum the
strings. He holds the neck of the banjo in his left hand where he will move his fingers to create a
certain sound. The older man in the image also holds the neck of the banjo up gently as if the little boy
needs help holding up the instrument, while his other hand rests on his right leg. The man hovers over
the boy s shoulder and base of the banjo. The man and boys faces appear to almost touch due

Advantages Of White Noise Machine
Best White Noise Machine: Buyer s Guide
Noise is something that most people would not associate with a good night s sleep. First of all, we
sleep to experience a state of peaceful tranquility that differs greatly from the chaos of our waking day.
No one goes to bed thinking, I wish I could still hear my boss shouting at me or I wish my partner
could snore louder.
However, there is the kind of noise that can block of all the ugly noises that we hear on our head. The
sound of the crashing waves of the ocean or the sound of raindrops can have a calming effect on our
heads and we would gladly choose them over the sound of passing cars or bickering neighbors.
This is precisely the reason why those who are in the business of sleep decided to create a machine
that produces calming white noise sounds that can improve the quality of one s sleep. The white noise
machine is used as a meditative device to allow the mind to focus on the soothing sound and not on
the unfiltered sounds produced by our surroundings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Native Americans Should Not Celebrate Columbus Day
The United States should not celebrate Columbus Day because it celebrates the mistreatment of
Native Americans. One quote from the article that demonstrates this is, a holiday called Indigenous
Peoples Day will instead recognize the contributions, and suffering of Native Americans, people who
lived in the Americas before Columbus arrived. This quote demonstrates that Columbus may have
improved some lives, but he destroyed others. Every year on Columbus Day, Native Americans are
forced to celebrate the murder and theft of their people, lands, and homes. They should not be subject
to this cruelty. Another quote that shows the mistreatment of Native Americans throughout history is,

For example, as the quote, estimates say smallpox killed 20 to 80 percent of Native Americans. These

demonstrates, the Native American disease epidemic was not fully Columbus s fault. Although he
helped introduced the Old World to the New World, many Europeans, over many years assisted in the
disease outbreaks that killed many natives. Columbus should not be blamed for something beyond his
control. To further prove that Columbus is not completely to blame, Native Americans were at fault
for disease epidemics as well. As it states in the article, most historians believe the Great Pox that
killed 5 million in Renaissance Europe came from the Americas. Although Europeans brought
smallpox to the Americas, Native Americans brought the Great Pox to Europe. This killed many
Europeans, so not all the deaths can be pinned on Columbus. Finally, Native Americans were not
angels, either. As it states in the text, war, slavery, and human sacrifice happened before Columbus
arrived in 1492. Native Americans also murdered, enslaved, and stole from each other before
Columbus arrived in the New World. They were also cruel and

Hamlet Soliloquies In Hamlet
To be or not to be that is the question. An exceptionally recognized phrase amid many centuries,
cultures, places, and people. This short excerpt derives from the Shakespearean play, Hamlet: The
Tragedy of the Prince of Denmark. Originally, this passage was displayed in one of the soliloquies of
the play. Defined as an act of speaking one s thoughts aloud when by oneself or regardless of any
hearers, especially by a character in a play , a soliloquy is crucial to furthering the plot and connecting
the audience with the speaker. William Shakespeare reveals the true desires and intentions of Hamlet,
the main character of Hamlet: The Tragedy of the Prince of Denmark, within the protagonist s
soliloquies. Even Hamlet, one of the most complex characters in literary history, can be simplified
through the use of a soliloquy. William Shakespeare employs the use of soliloquies for a variety of
reason, essentially revealing the characteristics of a protagonist through the use of soliloquies. The
scholarly article, publicized by the Hutchinson Encyclopedia, explains a soliloquy is employed as a
means of conveying information about a character s intentions, motives, and general state of mind. It
is a way of revealing a character s innermost thoughts on stage (1). A soliloquy allows the audience to
see a more personal side of the protagonist. By explaining personally from the thoughts of the
protagonist, this personal monologue allows characters to reveal a more personal side of the story.

Sex in the Media Essay
Sex in the Media
One of the most important resources of a business is its advertisement team. Due to the fact that
people can and will buy your product only if they know about it. This is the reason that marketing and
advertisement have the biggest budgets in a business. This is the reason that places such as
Amazon.com spend up to four million dollars on advertisement a year, according to Dream Biz.com
written by Burke Hedges. There is a saying that goes Sex sells is this true? Most people would argue
that it does. Since choosing this topic it has forced me to see everything different. When I sit and

They were originally created for promotional purposes. These promotions are generally used to show

understanding what the consumer is buying is his music and not his body. I know that sex sells but it
seems to me that advertisers no longer want to do any work, just slap an attractive body on screen or
paper and call it a day.

Analysis Of Stud Terkel s The Good War
Stud Terkel s The Good War is a book of oral histories from World War Two that shows many
different accounts and aspects of living life in World War Two or actually being on the battlefield. The
interviews range from soldiers, admirals, house wives, kids, nurses and many other people in the
world experiencing World War Two. There are also people who had firsthand accounts from Russia,
England, France and even Japan. I believe this book of memories is a far more effective way of
understanding the history of World War Two rather than a book of hard facts and statistics because
The Good War demonstrates how firsthand accounts in World War Two makes you feel like you ve
been on the battlefield or out on the home front. It creates visual images in your head with the
amazing detail that some of the soldiers described. These stories are compelling to read and it draws
your attention in. There are limitations of just having a book about oral histories, the person could
emphasize and talk about something that was important to them and not others, they could distort the
memories to what they want to remember or they could even exaggerate or do the opposite and leave
very little detail. Interviews such as Lowell Steward s, Akira Miuri, John H Groove, and Telford

The Friar s A Friar
Margaret Morrow
Abel
British Literature
27 October 2015
The Friar
A friar is a simple man whose job was to beg from the poor and give to the Roman Catholic Church.
The friar takes as much as one would need to live a humble life and offers the rest for the better of the
church and poor. In the Roman Catholic Church a friar is considered a monk, and therefore expected
to be fair and reserved. However, Chaucer describes the friar, or Hubert, in a sarcastic tone exposing
his corrupt ways to only profiting himself from the poor.
The Friar is a happy and cheerful person, with a pleasant personal demeanor. Although his position in
the clergy limits him to receive his needs by begging within the area he resides, he lives a very lavish
and unrestrained life without cause or reason he does what he wants without regard to anyone else
(208 209). Of the four religious orders he has the smoothest manners and linguistic abilities. Because
of his cheerful disposition and personality he is very well liked in his area and enjoyed performing
weddings and spending time with the ladies; the community was fond of him and especially with the
more affluent and well to do landowners and woman (212 216). He considered himself very good in
the duty of confessional even better than those in the church that that is their sole purpose and duty.
He was fully licensed and took the sins of his community with gentle and kind regard; he freed them
from their sin with compassion and removed all fear

Palladio s Influence On America
Prior to writing his four published book on architecture Palladio had written two different books that
was based on architecture. These books were published in 1554 in Rome while he was visiting
Daniele Barbaro. Essentially the purpose of the books was to serve as guidebooks for historical
monuments within Rome. The first book he had written contained short descriptions for travelers that
discussed the appearance and history of classical ruins. His guidebook was actually a replacement for
an older medieval guidebook, which focused more on the mythical side of Rome. Palladio s book

His design features such as porticos, classical orders, and dwellings have inspired many American
architects to recreate these designs in their buildings. As previously mentioned, porticos represent the
importance of the residents and enhanced the architecture. The Frascati building in Virginia proves
that the portico served as a symbol of importance because the resident was a member of the U.S.
Supreme Court. This buildings portico is almost identical to Palladio s Villa Emo s. There are many
other buildings in America that have integrated this feature into their designs following Palladio s
principles. Nevertheless there are other modern day architects who did not follow his principles and
the porticos are unsymmetrical. Although some have failed to follow his principles there are some
buildings that portray his designs well. An example of an American building with a portico is
Whitehall. The portico is located in the central section of the building. Along with the portico the
architect of this building incorporated Corinthian columns into the design, a classical order that was

By: S. Elizabeth Jackson Examining the Response to Intervention (RTI) Process Response to
Intervention (RTI) is an in school service program designed to guarantee that all students are getting a
high quality education. Before students are referred for special education services, it is essential that
they receive effective teaching designed to meet their own learning requirements. All students in
public schools are required to be included in the RTI program. While the different program may vary

Teachers, during tier one, should closely follow the GREAT guidelines. Teachers are also expected to
differentiate instruction for those who are struggling. Tier two teachers expected to collect extensive
data on the at risk student. Teachers are to collect data not only on information the student got wrong,
but also when they were correct. This aids in a more correct placement, if needed. The final tier of the
RTI process, tier three, is where all the data collection comes into play. In order for a student to be
admitted into tier three, there has to be adequate evidence to support this claim. The teacher needs to
continue to collect data to provide information on whether or not the student has made progress with
the interventions in place. The teacher may asked to organize the data collected during the previous
interventions. The text suggest that the teacher may be asked to collect this data in the form of a visual
aid, such as a bar graph. Process of Determining if a Student has a Disability and the Responsibilities
of the Teacher When all the tiers of RTI have been utilized, the Students Support Team (SST) decides
if the next appropriate step for the student is a referral to special education. Biased on the information
gathered during the RTI process, the SST will appraise and see if the student meets the criteria for one
of the IDEA categories of disability. The disability or impairment must have an unwanted

Tropa De Elite Sociology
It is therefore possible to define BOPE as being in a state of exception and every resident of the
favelas as a homo sacer because they are stripped of their social and political value. Moreover, the
characters are also used in order to express, how fear negatively influences society and forces some
people to radically change their character. Tropa de Elite (2007) starts off with a very important quote
by Stanley Milgram: A psicologia social desde século nos ensinou uma importante lição: usualmente
não é o caráter de uma pessoa que determina como ela age, mas sim a situação na quai ela se encontra
(Tropa de Elite, 2007). In other words, the environment plays a key role in influencing people s
behaviour. In Padilha s film, proof of this statement is offered through André Matias. At the beginning
of the movie, he is seen attempting to be an honest and incorruptible police officer. However, after
having spent a few months with BOPE, his character is quick to change. According to Heise, his
exposure to the chaos and violence of Rio de Janeiro triggered a dehumanization process and this is
especially portrayed through André s abuse of power during his classmates march against violence

Taking English 1302 With Texas Tech University Essay
Taking English 1302 with Texas Tech University has been a highly rewarding experience. This class
focuses on literature reviews and researched arguments, but when I signed up for this class I did not
know the difference between the two. Now I know that literature reviews use sources to inform the
reader about current studies on a topic, while researched arguments use sources to support the author s
claim and persuade the reader. During this class I have learned how to write a literature review/
researched argument as well as many mechanics related to general writing. In English 1302, I was
instructed on how to write a literature review and a researched argument. While I found literature
reviews to be easier than researched arguments, I still learned how to synthesize sources and their
respective information. I realized that I did not need to put in much of my own commentary compared
to an argumentative paper. Initially, I could not see how subtopics and themes could connect several
pieces of writing just as much as the subject of the paper could. I also used to focus on the authors of
sources rather than the connected information written by the authors, but now I focus on the latter.
Taking this course made me realize that I had never used common ground while writing an argument,
but it is very critical for persuasion. For example, in my researched argument I wrote: ... you, as a
consumer, have been affected by robotics in more ways than you know; robots aid humans in many

Literary Devices In Catcher In The Rye
The world of adults is full of phonies and the only way to combat it is to be as innocent as a child.
Today, people have become so self interested that they fail to listen to everyone even themselves.
These are the points J.D. Salinger brings up in his novel The Catcher in the Rye. Throughout the
novel, J.D. Salinger s uses of voice, conflict, aposiopesis, irony, and metaphor emphasize these points.
The Catcher in the Rye is a story of a battle to preserve innocence.
The Catcher in the Rye follows the adventures of a teenage boy named Holden Caulfield. Holden has
changed schools several times over the past years because he either failed all his classes or harbored
strong feelings of hate and disgust towards his school. Holden, during the book s events, is 16 years

Holden coins this phrase for himself based on a poem that he heard during events that that occurred
before the events of the book. This poem is called Coming thro the Rye by Robert Burns. The irony
between the poem and the novel begins with the two different interpretations of a catcher in the rye .
Holden says that he sees himself catch[ing] everybody [children] if they start to go over the cliff. . . I d
just be the catcher in the rye and all (Salinger ). Holden believes that being a catcher in the rye
involves protecting and preserving the innocence of the children around him. However, the poem
Holden gets this interpretation from is interpreted by most to not be about innocence, but rather casual
sex. Holden now seems to understand how disgusting and phony sexuality and adulthood is. Holden
wants to save children from the horrors that come with growing up, but the irony lies in Holden basing
his own beliefs on a poem about sex. Salinger s deviation from the traditional meaning of Robert
Burns poem gives interesting irony that both shows how mature and naïve Holden really

(Rensin). These mailroom clerks are young, motivated, and competitive individuals who aspire to be
Hollywood agents making millions. Such driven and aggressive people would make for excellent
reality stars. Due to the combination of business oriented tasks and out of office drama, The Mailroom
is the result of The Apprentice meeting Vanderpump Rules.
Although the clerks are in competition to get promoted, there is much more that goes on beyond the
mailroom. This series is not structured as a competition show because this would limit the story from
capturing the drama outside the office, which includes blossoming friendships, romance, and conflict
between strong personalities. In particular, the love lives of the mailroom clerks are somewhat
incestuous, according to Nir Caspi, a packaging agent at United Talent Agency, which would intrigue
viewers of shows like The Hills and Vanderpump Rules. Therefore, unlike The Apprentice, ... Show

Some clerks will be fired, some will quit the agency, and some will be promoted. This arrangement
provides The Mailroom with an ideal casting circumstance for numerous seasons. As seasons
progress, some clerks will remain in the mailroom, some will move up within the agency but remain
on the series, and some will leave the series and make room for fresh faces. This balance, which is
seen in the Real Housewives shows, lets viewers enjoy familiarity with the cast while also
appreciating the fresh perspectives of new cast

Western Influence on Kuwait
Kuwait and Western influence Over the past decades, Kuwait, like most Islamic countries have
practiced strict measures in terms of their governance system with lots of times the religious aspect
influencing greatly the kind of government in place and the type of governance that is used within
Kuwait. This resulted in a closed, less democratic, religious, stereotypical and generally patriarchal
society. This has however undergone a lot of change particularly with the embracing of the Western
culture that is more open, diverse and liberal in nature. Positives of western culture interaction More
democratic space Western culture has had far reaching effects on many aspects of lives of the Kuwaiti
in the sense that people have become more open minded and the society has turned from suppressing
the women, both domestically and socially, to embracing them and liberating them to make choices
and participate in social events like men do. Ladies currently enjoy a lot of freedom with regard to
what they put on and how they express themselves. Kuwaitis have also adopted modern pop culture
something that was unheard of in the past. They have developed a sense of taste for whatever they
buy, whatever they listen to, what they eat, watch, what they do on their bodies, hair and teeth. It is
paradoxical that when Kuwait gained her independence from the United Kingdom in 1961, her
citizens proclaimed liberation, when in actual sense there was none of it. Women in particular had to

Death Of A Salesman, By Arthur Miller
Transference: Revealing True Thoughts While reading Death of a Salesman, many readers become
intrigued with the relationships of the Loman family. One relationship in particular is Willy and his
son, Biff s. In the play, Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, Willy Loman exemplifies the
psychological theory of transference onto his son, Biff, because he is unable to accept his own reality.
There is an underlying meaning to the behavior of these two characters. The topics of transference,
communication, and how a parent s infidelity affects their children show how this statement is proven
to be true. Arthur Miller s own life also contributes greatly to the father son relationship within this
literary work as well. Transference is a large part of this play: it is a transference of Willy s feelings of
himself onto Biff. As defined by Psychiatrist Mark Dombeck: Transference is a simple appearing idea
that has to do with the way people understand one another and form relationships with one another. As
its name suggests, it involves the idea of transferring something from one place to another. What is
being transferred in this case is an understanding of a person. Where it is being transferred to is onto
another person. When transference is occurring, basically what is happening is that we are trying to
understand someone (usually someone we don t know very well) by making an assumption that they
are similar to someone else, and will thus feel and behave in

Elements Of Realism In Red Kayik
Drowning in a river, going to jail, and hurting your friends, this is the hard reality that Brady, a main
character in Red Kayak, just happens to be going through. Brady has to deal with Ben, a young child
of the DiAngelos, a family who just moved in. Brady was Ben s babysitter and he had dealt with him
in a traumatic situation, his death caused by drowning (which Brady s friends took part in.) This
contributes to the fact that this novel, Red Kayak, is realistic fiction. Realistic fiction is a story that
may happen in reality and the five elements are credible events, authentic characters, real settings, true
to life themes, and believable dialogue. Red Kayak is an excellent example of realistic fiction because
it includes three elements like real setting, authentic characters, and true to life themes. First, Red
Kayak, is an excellent example of realistic fiction because it has real settings. The setting that takes
place in the novel is on the Corsica river as well as the Chesapeake Bay. For example, on pg. 5 it
states, It´s a pretty river the Corsica. It also states on the back summary of the book, Brady loves his
life on the Chesapeake Bay. In conclusion, Red Kayak, is an example of realistic fiction since it is
dealing with one of the elements, real setting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The characters that are involved in the book are Digger, Brady, and J.T, but keep in mind there are of
course more characters. For example on pg.106 it states, Digger was in his front yard and, shooting
baskets with his little brother, Hank, when I skidded to a holt on my bike. This evidence supports the
topic because it shows the characters actions in their environment which are most similar to ours. In
summary, Red Kayak has elements of realistic fiction including authentic

Communication And Interviewing Skills Are Important For...
University Preparation According to Akers and Yahr (2005, p. 1), communication and interviewing
skills are important for entry level accountants. Accountants must gather data, interview employees of
the client s organization, and interact with members of the audit team. Universities, for the most part,
are preparing students to interact and work collaboratively within group settings. Many courses assign
projects which require students to work together culling information for the given topic, write reports
outlining their findings, and then present the results or information to their respective class. These are
sound skills all students need to have in their accounting toolkits, yet, in many instances their toolkits

Fraud and Forensic Accounting and Advanced Fraud and Forensic Accounting course catalog
descriptions include introductions into interviewing as part of the topics covered during the courses
(Colorado Mesa University, 2017). Likewise, MSUD provides students with greater exposure to
interviewing in their courses. MSUD s Fraud Awareness (ACCM 5600) course offers an overview of
interviewing, including a guest lecturer with hands on interviewing experience to discuss the topic.
Additionally, in Sheri Betzer s Legal Elements of Fraud (ACCM 5650) course at MSUD, not only is
class time dedicated to the introduction of interviewing, but the course has a practical exercise for the
students. The practical exercise includes conducting four separate interviews of individuals related to
an accounting litigation scenario. Over the course of those interviews, not all the individuals contacted
are overly cooperative with the student interviewer. This gives the student a much more realistic view
of what may happen when he seeks information from the

Risks And Risks Of A Investment Return
With the development of capital market, an increasing number of investors have a chance invest their
money in the stock exchange. Investment return is the reason that the investors put their money in the
stock market. However, when they spend their money in the market, they will come across the risk of
the securities. In other words, investors receive the higher investment return which means they will
come across the greater risk too. According to Reilly and Brown, risk means the uncertainty of future
outcomes. For investors, higher risks might cause their lost more money. The investors have to choose
the correct method of their return and risk.

If the company s share is above the value, it means it is over price and the investors should take some
money off the company. However, there is a time delay when doing fundamental analysis. The traders
are analysing the company by using the previous financial data. Meanwhile, the market has changed.
The fundamental analysis is a laggard to the real situation. The other method is technical analysis. It is
analysing the historical patterns of share price behaviour. This process could help predict future
market trends by evaluating securities which relying on the assumption of market data, such as charts
of price, volume, and open interest. It assumes that market psychology influences trading in a way that
enables predicting when stock will rise or fall. The traders could realize the signal whether to trade
from the technical analysis. The target price would be got using the technical analysis. The traders can
move the investment money into other shares once the the price moves to the target price. Technical
analysis could be done quickly to determine the status of the stock price and make a decision. The
trader could find the stock when it is in an uptrend or a downtrend immediately. However, there are
some problems of technical analysis. Firstly, it is difficult to master. The traders need to understand
how the indicators and patterns relate to investor sentiment and psychology and how all of these
indicators and patterns will impact the

The United States And The Civil War
Starting in 1865, the United States began to experience a series of changes and transformations that
completely altered the landscape of the country. On the political side, the federal government had to
deal with the aftermath of the Civil War and faced the challenge of reintegrating southern states back
into the union while also attempting to institute desegregation movements in the South. From a social
standpoint, almost four million slaves were freed by the end of the Civil War and in search of a better
life, while a wide majority of women saw their roles begin to change as there was a 307% increase in
women joining labor forces from 1880 1930. Meanwhile on the economic side, the entire nation was
undergoing the most significant industrial expansion to date, which would completely alter everyday
life. All of these profound and rapid changes left American citizens in a state of disarray and in search
for order, as they worried about how these changes would affect their lives and social statuses. This
growing paranoia among American citizens, especially in the upper class, culminated with laws and
court rulings being passed that ultimately favored the wealthy elites and prevented these changes from
taking power away from the hands of the people that already had control. Although there were many
instances from 1865 to the start of the 20th century that can illustrate the country s search for order,
the most significant example can be drawn from a decision made by the

Kodak En La Encrucijada

The Importance Of National Honor Society
The first idea I believe National Honor Society should participate in is hosting a Memorial Day
celebration for the families in our community that have lost loved ones due to serving our country. I
think this would be amazing because it would give the people in our community a sense that they are
not alone and introduce them to people that they can lean on. At this event, we could have food/treats
and potentially an open microphone where people would be able to share the story of their loved
one(s). This could then become a yearly event that people look forward to because it would be a
celebration of life. I realize this could turn into a huge event because there are many people that could
possibly attend but we could keep that under control

Phaedrus Essay
Purposely difficult and intentionally obsessive, Plato s Phaedrus is an exceedingly difficult read that
defies all conventional logic as a piece of discourse. The text is extremely subjective, open to
interpretation and individual creativity as to what or whom the narrative is about. Written by Plato, a
close disciple of Socrates, this text is set along the Illissus river where Phaedrus and Socrates meet for
a day of speech, debate, rhetoric and okay...flirting. Phaedrus leads of the day and recites a speech by
his close friend Lysias, who Phaedrus considers to be a top speechmaker. Socrates then, after chiding
by Phaedrus unleashes two speeches of his own that overshadow and refute Lysias claim so boldly
that Phaedrus is so taken by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We, on our part, must prove that such madness is given by the gods for our greatest happiness; and our
proof will not be accepted by the merely clever, but will accepted by the truly wise (469).
It is my intention with this quote to show the crucial relationship between madness and the evolution
of higher thought. I argue very plainly for this correlation linking the truly wise and madness because
it demonstrates Socrates attempt to dangle an idea in front of Phaedrus, who after Socrates 1st speech
was expecting a philosophical, structured way of defining the soul and now left to wonder what
madness has to do with anything. The quote defends the claim that madness is an essential part of
Socrates attempt to persuade Phaedus (the reader) that madness is not something bad; the way Lysias
outlined it in his speech, but an obligatory element in developing a passion for something.
My discourse has shown that this is, of all inspirations, the best and of the highest origin to him who
has it or who shares in this madness, is called a lover (483).
Taken from Socrates 2nd speech, Socrates is using madness now on a different level, this time as tool
to describe inspiration to be a lover. Socrates literally cites his entire speech to explain how madness
leads to love; to passion, not just an evolution of thinking, but also a pursuit of how it manifests itself
through madness. It is the madness that I consider

  • 2. The Evolution of Islamic Finance and Financial Institutions The evolution of Islamic finance now takes place in most of the countries, whether in Muslim countries or non Muslim countries. Islamic finance institutions perform the same essential functions as financial institutions do in the conventional system, except that there is a need for them to carry out their transactions in accordance with the rules and principles of Islam. One of the most growing parts of the Islamic finance is Islamic equity market. In principle, Islamic equity market is characterized by the absence of interest based transactions, doubtful transactions and unlawful stocks of companies which deal in non shariah compliance activities or items. Its market activities must be free from any of unethical or immoral elements. The emergence of several Islamic indices such as the Dow Jones Islamic index has offered better screening processes to both Muslim and non Muslims investors. The existence of the shariah screening process in the stock market will enable Muslim investors to invest into companies that run the permissible activities in the businesses. The Dow Jones Islamic Market Index (DJIM), launched in 1999 in Bahrain, was first benchmark to represent Islamic compliant portfolios and for investors seeking investments in compliance with Muslim Shariah law. The DJIM in essence is a specialized ethical index that screens out prohibited stocks, as defined by Shariah law, and it is monitored by Muslim scholars. • 3. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Adaptive Histogram... 2.1.6 Histogram Equalization The luminance histogram of a exemplary natural scene that has been linearly quantized is commonly highly skewed toward the darker levels; a majority of the pixels possess a luminance lower than the average. In similar images, detail in the darker regions is often not visible. One means of enhancing these types of images is a method called histogram modification, in which the original image is rescaled so that the histogram of the intensified image follows some desired form [6]. This method also assumes the detail carried by an image is related to the possibility of occurrence of each gray level. To maximize the detail, the transformation should redistribute the possibilities of occurrence of the gray level to make it identical. In this way, the contrast at every gray level is proportional to the altitude of the image histogram [7]. Several modifications of histogram equalization are also available which expansion its potential of contrast enhancement. Adaptive histogram equalization (AHE) [8] and Contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) [9] belong to that classification which apply histogram ... The stretched histogram will provide a better pixel distribution of the image channels and thus gives a more accurate average value of the channel which represents the average value of the channel for the whole dynamic range. The equation (6) is used to stretch the histogram of respective color channel to the whole dynamic range. Psychoanalysis And Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Psychoanalysis Psychoanalysis is based on psychoanalytic theory postulated by the renowned Viennese neurologist Sigmund Freud between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and has been reactualizándose. This theory postulates that, many times, which does not allow us to live peacefully past traumas are hidden in the unconscious, and that we must make conscious to overcome. It is the famous couch therapy, introspection, free association. It asks the patient to say everything you think omitting the smallest detail, however insignificant or ridiculous it may seem, because everything has a meaning, even dreams. • 5. Petitioner V. Kulbicki Case Study the court case Maryland, Petitioner v. James Kulbicki, James Kulbicki fatally shot his 22 year old mistress. Kulbicki shot his mistress on the weekend before he was scheduled for a hearing on unpaid child support, which was tied into a paternity suit between Kulbicki and his mistress. At Kulbicki s trial, which began in 1995, evidence was presented that the bullet removed from the head of Kulbicki s mistress matched the bullet fragment that was left in Kulbicki s truck. FBI Agent Ernest Peele, who represented the CBLA (Comparative Bullet Lead Analysis), presented this evidence. Peele also examined a bullet taken from Kulbicki s gun. Even though the bullet in the victim s brain was not an exact match to the bullet found in the gun, Peele assumed that the bullet from the gun was similar enough to the first two bullets found. The Court of Appeals then vacated Kulbucki s conviction based on the fact that Kulbucki s attorneys did not question the legitimacy of the ballistics evidence, thus the defense attorneys did not provide Kulbucki with effective assistance during the trial. However, the Supreme Court of the United States held, in a per curiam opnion, that the Court of Appeals based the decision to vacate Kulbicki s conviction on contemporary views of ballistic evidence. Since there was no reason for counsel to investigate the validity of the ballistic evidence in 1995, the attorneys provided effective assistance to Kulbicki because effective assistance did not require attorneys to verify the legitimacy of the ballistic evidence (Maryland v. • 6. What Does The Parables Say About The Kingdom Of God Journal 8 Psalm 103:19 reads, The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all. As highlighted in this verse, the Kingdom of God spans across both earth and heaven and rules over them with equal authority. Much of what we know about the Kingdom of God comes from the parables Jesus told during his earthly ministry. On the surface, it may be hard to determine just what Jesus is saying about the Kingdom of God. By considering the deeper meanings of parables, however, it is possible to see exactly what the parables reveal about the Kingdom of God and what hermeneutical implications that has for our lives. To discover what the parables say about the Kingdom of God, they must first be interpreted. Jesus himself can be found saying that parables contain mysteries on the inside. Sometimes, however, finding the deeper meaning for a parable can be tricky. To make the task of interpreting parables easier, it helps to find out Jesus audience. Jesus did not intend for us to be unable to understand his parables. Rather, he fully intended for them to shed light on the Kingdom of God, sometimes we just need to dig a little deeper with an open heart and open eyes. After interpreting the parables that deal with the Kingdom of God, it is possible to determine some characteristics of the Kingdom of God. With Jesus arrival, he brought with him the Kingdom, hence the reason he is explaining it to people via parables. While Jesus already brought the Kingdom of God, it is also not here yet. God s kingdom reconciliation has begun on this earth but will not be completed until Jesus comes again to finish it completely. Jesus first coming was the beginning of the end for the Kingdom of God. Beyond that, Jesus reveals many other things about the Kingdom of God. For example, from the mustard seed parable, the Kingdom of God is like the nature of a mustard seed in that it started small but is growing very large. In addition, Jesus explains the four different responses people have to the Kingdom of God in the parable of the sower by explaining the outcome of seed planted on four different types of soil. Some do not understand it, some fall away after troubles, some become unfruitful because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Barriers to Nurse Practitioner Practice that Impact Healthcare Redesign OJIN: The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing Vol. 19, No. 2, Manuscript 2. Web. 6 Apr. 2016. Barriers to Nurse Practitioner Practice that Impact Healthcare Redesign is the article written by two physicians, Debra Hain and Laureen M. Fleck. The two physicians explain the barriers and setbacks that the scope of practice prevents APNs from practicing from. This article also gives suggestions of what steps they think should be taken in order to completely make the scope of practice fair for everyone who has been trained to practice specific skills. This will be extremely beneficial to my proposal because Hain and Fleck describe the same steps to completely even the scope of practice that I am proposing. I will be using this article mainly in my first and second body paragraph so the readers know quickly what I am proposing and that there is support from physicians on my side as well. This will hook the readers quickly and they will instantly want to know more about how the scope of practice should be made completely even. The article also gives examples about how the future of APNs education will look after the scope is made completely equal. While talking about the future of education, the article mentions The Robert Wood Foundation. This foundation was previously talked about in my call to action essay, when I first discussed the scope of practice in nursing. With ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While the Prince s co conspirators waited upstairs, Yusupov passed a plate of rich sweet cream cakes to Rasputin. Each cake held enough cyanide to kill a man. Roger Platizky writes, To a significant degree, Poe s fear of live burial had a cultural counterpart. Kennedy and others have shown that premature burial was a preoccupation in eighteenth and nineteenth century America and Europe largely because death was more often in the hands of the medical community and funerals had become secularized.(n2) In an attempt to keep living entombments from occurring, coffins and vaults especially for the wealthier classes were equipped with special springs and sounding devices to give the person mistakenly buried alive a chance to be rescued (Crichton 326 28). One of the most pragmatic of these devices, which involved the placing of bells on the limbs of the recently dead, was exhibited at Brooklyn s Greenwood Cemetery in 1845, just a year before Poe published his short story. Buddhism is becoming popular and well known in the western parts of the world. Hinduism and Buddhism share the same teaching of karma. They both teach about the cause and effect that karma leaves on one s life. Buddhism s main goal is to find enlightment. Siddhartha Gautama is the founder of Buddhism. He was born around 600 B.C. to a powerful family in India. He had a comfortable homewith very little experience of the outside world. He was sheild from many outside influences such as pain, religion and suffering. He discovered enlightment in the middle way. He discovered the Four Noble Truths : to live is to suffer (Dukha), suffering is caused by desire (Tanha, or attachment), one can eliminate suffering by eliminating all attachments. This is attained by following the noble eightfold path. The eightfold path consists of having a right view, speech, action, livelihood, effort , and mindfulness. The individual teachings are common to Hinduism. karma, Maya, and a tendency to understand reality as being pantheistic in its placment. Buddhism today is real diverse. These pioneers were the first to live in colder climates, hunt large animals with wooden spears, and utilize fire. They were also our first ancestors to construct simple shelters out of wood and rock. Interestingly a comparison between Neanderthal and modern human DNA suggests the two lineages diverged from a common ancestor, most likely Homo heidelbergensis! Discovery On October 21, 1907, Daniel Hartmann spotted a jaw while working in a sandpit in Mauer, near Heidelberg, Germany (49.3389° N, 8.7986° E.) This evidence shows they flourished in a rich and diverse cooling epoch called the Pleistocene, which was a cooling period with intermittent glaciers covering North America and Europe (Eldredge 2000) and deserts spread over northern Africa separating the populations of plants and animals, including humans (Zuk 2013). These cooling and recurrent glaciations led to the physical adaptation of shorter and wider bodies in an attempt to conserve heat in this cooler climate. Dating Many fossils of this species have been dated with various methods. • 17. The Similarities of Writting Style in Walt Whitman’s “Song... Throughout time there have been many writers and poets. And with these many writers and poets their work has been different in what they write about. And their work has made an impact on society and on others. And yet in this time some writers have influenced the work of others. Walt Whitman and Allen Ginsberg who are separated by a time gap have a kind of connection. Both of these amazing writers wrote pieces of work that are considered a catalyst for the Beat Generation. These two courageous writers went against the norm and wrote about something different. Although they are different they both explored new topics. Walt Whitman s Song of Myself and Allen Ginsberg s Howl have similarities right from the first page. The first thing that they both have in common is the structure of their work. Both Howl and Song of Myself have long lines and they keep like that. Having these long lines makes the story flow. Doing this in these two works made it have some kind of steady rhythm so it was easy to read. Also another similarity Whitman had on Ginsberg was at the beginning of each sentence. In Howl the beginning would always start with who . In Song of Myself the first word of the line is Nor. This would be happening quite often. Ginsberg and Whitman both wrote about topics against what other writers would talk about. Whitman would write about sexuality/the human body and it scared off some of his readers. The older man sits in a wooden chair with his feet flat on the floor, while the little boy leans on his left leg. The golden brown color of the wooden chair contrasts the rest of the image which utilizes darker browns. Only one leg of the chair remains visible to the viewer. • 40. Literary Devices In Catcher In The Rye The world of adults is full of phonies and the only way to combat it is to be as innocent as a child. Today, people have become so self interested that they fail to listen to everyone even themselves. These are the points J.D. Salinger brings up in his novel The Catcher in the Rye. Throughout the novel, J.D. Salinger s uses of voice, conflict, aposiopesis, irony, and metaphor emphasize these points. The Catcher in the Rye is a story of a battle to preserve innocence. The Catcher in the Rye follows the adventures of a teenage boy named Holden Caulfield. Holden has changed schools several times over the past years because he either failed all his classes or harbored strong feelings of hate and disgust towards his school. Holden, during the book s events, is 16 years old, quite tall, and already has some gray hair. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Holden coins this phrase for himself based on a poem that he heard during events that that occurred before the events of the book. This poem is called Coming thro the Rye by Robert Burns. The irony between the poem and the novel begins with the two different interpretations of a catcher in the rye . Holden says that he sees himself catch[ing] everybody [children] if they start to go over the cliff. . . I d just be the catcher in the rye and all (Salinger ). Holden believes that being a catcher in the rye involves protecting and preserving the innocence of the children around him. However, the poem Holden gets this interpretation from is interpreted by most to not be about innocence, but rather casual sex. Holden now seems to understand how disgusting and phony sexuality and adulthood is. Holden wants to save children from the horrors that come with growing up, but the irony lies in Holden basing his own beliefs on a poem about sex. Salinger s deviation from the traditional meaning of Robert Burns poem gives interesting irony that both shows how mature and naïve Holden really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the cave, he deals with the Gollum and finds the Ring, changing his character forever. Only once he suffers through his riddle battle with Gollum, he recovers The Ring, a ring that grants its wearer invisibility as they wear the Ring. Bilbo has to deal with a moral dilemma when he must face Gollum and must decide on whether or not to kill Gollum. He was desperate. He must get away, out of this horrible darkness, while he had any strength left. He must fight. He must stab the foul thing, put its eyes out, kill it. It meant to kill him (Tolkien 86). He was forced to lose some of his innocent and face the reality of life and death situations. The book, which is comprised of interviews with over 200 mailroom graduates from some of the biggest Hollywood talent agencies, reveals the not so glamorous lives of mailroom assistants in the most glamorous industry in the world (Rensin). These mailroom clerks are young, motivated, and competitive individuals who aspire to be Hollywood agents making millions. Such driven and aggressive people would make for excellent reality stars. Due to the combination of business oriented tasks and out of office drama, The Mailroom is the result of The Apprentice meeting Vanderpump Rules. Although the clerks are in competition to get promoted, there is much more that goes on beyond the mailroom. This series is not structured as a competition show because this would limit the story from capturing the drama outside the office, which includes blossoming friendships, romance, and conflict between strong personalities. One relationship in particular is Willy and his son, Biff s. In the play, Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, Willy Loman exemplifies the psychological theory of transference onto his son, Biff, because he is unable to accept his own reality. There is an underlying meaning to the behavior of these two characters. The topics of transference, communication, and how a parent s infidelity affects their children show how this statement is proven to be true. Arthur Miller s own life also contributes greatly to the father son relationship within this literary work as well. • 46. Elements Of Realism In Red Kayik Drowning in a river, going to jail, and hurting your friends, this is the hard reality that Brady, a main character in Red Kayak, just happens to be going through. Brady has to deal with Ben, a young child of the DiAngelos, a family who just moved in. Brady was Ben s babysitter and he had dealt with him in a traumatic situation, his death caused by drowning (which Brady s friends took part in.) This contributes to the fact that this novel, Red Kayak, is realistic fiction. Realistic fiction is a story that may happen in reality and the five elements are credible events, authentic characters, real settings, true to life themes, and believable dialogue. Red Kayak is an excellent example of realistic fiction because it includes three elements like real setting, authentic characters, and true to life themes. First, Red Kayak, is an excellent example of realistic fiction because it has real settings. The setting that takes place in the novel is on the Corsica river as well as the Chesapeake Bay. • 49. The United States And The Civil War Starting in 1865, the United States began to experience a series of changes and transformations that completely altered the landscape of the country. On the political side, the federal government had to deal with the aftermath of the Civil War and faced the challenge of reintegrating southern states back into the union while also attempting to institute desegregation movements in the South. From a social standpoint, almost four million slaves were freed by the end of the Civil War and in search of a better life, while a wide majority of women saw their roles begin to change as there was a 307% increase in women joining labor forces from 1880 1930. Meanwhile on the economic side, the entire nation was undergoing the most significant industrial expansion to date, which would completely alter everyday life. All of these profound and rapid changes left American citizens in a state of disarray and in search for order, as they worried about how these changes would affect their lives and social statuses. This growing paranoia among American citizens, especially in the upper class, culminated with laws and court rulings being passed that ultimately favored the wealthy elites and prevented these changes from taking power away from the hands of the people that already had control. Although there were many instances from 1865 to the start of the 20th century that can illustrate the country s search for order, the most significant example can be drawn from a decision made by the ... Phaedrus leads of the day and recites a speech by his close friend Lysias, who Phaedrus considers to be a top speechmaker. We, on our part, must prove that such madness is given by the gods for our greatest happiness; and our proof will not be accepted by the merely clever, but will accepted by the truly wise (469). It is my intention with this quote to show the crucial relationship between madness and the evolution of higher thought. I argue very plainly for this correlation linking the truly wise and madness because it demonstrates Socrates attempt to dangle an idea in front of Phaedrus, who after Socrates 1st speech was expecting a philosophical, structured way of defining the soul and now left to wonder what madness has to do with anything. The quote defends the claim that madness is an essential part of Socrates attempt to persuade Phaedus (the reader) that madness is not something bad; the way Lysias outlined it in his speech, but an obligatory element in developing a passion for something. My discourse has shown that this is, of all inspirations, the best and of the highest origin to him who has it or who shares in this madness, is called a lover (483).
