A lesson plan is a tool and a model for structuring an individual lesson. It provides strategies for efficiently putting together content needed for teaching; the amount of time spent in each topic and what supporting tools can be used. Other advantages of a lesson plan is that it ensures the consistency of teaching from one semester to another. Also if there are multiple lecturers teaching the same unit, they can use the same patterns and tools for teaching.

A blended or hybrid course combines some traditional in-person sessions with online learning, replacing about 30% or more of face-to-face time with online work.

What is Distance Learning Environment?
Flexible learning is a method of learning where students are given freedom in how, what, when and where they learn. Flexible learning environments address how physical space is used, how students are grouped during learning and how time is used throughout teaching. With space, students may be given dedicated breakout rooms to work collaboratively. Schools may restructure traditional schedules to provide students with time for collaboration and other activities such as guest speakers or performances to assist their understanding of a topic.
Flexible learning refers to the ability to customize one’s pace, place and mode of learning. With pace, for example, students may take accelerated programs or engage in part-time learning to ensure they have time to work on the side. Learning can take place in a variety of settings, including in the classroom, at home via the Internet, while commuting or as part of a work-study program. Mode refers to the way that content is delivered by technology, typically through blended learning, fully online courses or technology-enhanced experiences.
Blackboard
Blackboard allows instructors to communicate with students, post course materials, facilitate collaboration, streamline the homework process, create online tests and surveys, deliver grades electronically, and provide a central location for course content and computer assignments. Specific capabilities include posting homework online, having students submit work digitally, recording grades, providing students access to their grades, delivering course content in various file formats, making announcements, sending emails, setting up discussion boards, enabling file sharing, and creating various types of online assessments that provide immediate feedback to students.
What is distance education?
Distance education aims to provide university education to students who cannot attend campus physically. It allows flexible study from anywhere in the world at any time. The benefits of distance education include fitting study around other commitments, varying study load, and interacting with other students and instructors online. However, it also has disadvantages like lack of social interaction, not being suitable for all learners, and requiring comfort with new technologies. - 1. Studying at a distance How it works? Prepared by: Loys Angelica S. Siano BEED-3d3
- 2. How it works? Studying at a distance doesn't mean that you will be left to study alone. In order to make distance learning work for you, you'll need to think about where and when you are going to study, and how regular study time will fit into your life. You will also need to prepare a place or places that will provide you with a comfortable and convenient environment to study. This could be at home, at your place of work or in a study centre.
- 3. Course materials Materials for distance learning courses at the University vary from course to course, but can include textbooks which can either be sent in the post to you or can be found online. Blackboard forms an integral part of the learning experience for most distance learning students. It provides a learning environment which enables: access to most course materials • online discussion between students and tutors using discussion boards • access to presentations and tutorials assignment submission and feedback facilities
- 4. Library There is an online catalogue and internet and database services, allowing you to access a multitude of journals, articles and e-books. You can request books to be sent to you in the post or you may wish to make use of the photocopying service.
- 5. Assessment • Depending on your course, you may be required to submit essays and/or coursework. In most cases, these will be submitted online. Some courses include exams which, if you are overseas, can be arranged to be taken at a centre that is local to you. • The final stage of most Masters courses is a written dissertation on a topic agreed between you and your tutor. • Detailed feedback on all assessments will be provided from a tutor.
- 6. Interaction with lecturers and students A dedicated team of academic tutors and administrative staff will be your main point of contact throughout your studies, able to provide a wide range of support. They can answer queries ranging from your progress on the course to the content of an individual module. We encourage you to keep in regular contact with your team.
