INTRODUCTION
Teaching and learning process using the approach discussed
in the group are one
of the methods used by teachers during teaching sessions. This
is because it can
encourage students to formulate ideas and opinions freely.
However, the discussion
often fails to function, as a unit for effective interaction
among students does not
happen. Therefore, this opportunity is used by researchers to
promote e-learning
WHATIS
ELEARNING?
Understanding e Learning is
simple. e Learning is learning
utilizing electronic
technologies to access
educational curriculum
outside of a traditional
classroom.  In most cases, it
refers to a course, program or
degree delivered completely
online.
There are many terms used to
describe learning that is delivered
online, via the internet, ranging
from Distance Education, to
computerized electronic learning,
online learning, internet learning
and many others. We define e
Learning as courses that are
specifically delivered via the
internet to somewhere other than
the classroom where the professor
is teaching.
BENEFITSOF
ELEARNING
If you can maintain the necessary self-discipline, the
benefits of e Learning are almost too numerous to count.
You can cover the material when you have time, go over
it as often as you need, all without traveling to the
classroom. There are no parking problems or expenses,
transportation fees, athletic fees, housing and food
service fees, plus you can take the class from any
location with internet access. There have been many
studies showing that e Learning students retain the
material to a significantly greater degree than face-to-
face instructor led classes.
METHODSOFE
LEARNING
Each institution uses a specific system, but they are all similar in
their ability to present course material including class syllabus,
assignments, quizzes, and provide video and audio plus a
whiteboard screen where the lesson is presented just like it would
be on a classroom’s video screen or blackboard. You can interact
with instructors, access course materials and stimulate debate
among your fellow students when it fits your schedule. In most
courses, you must keep up with the scheduled course work.
Courses are instructor led and in most instances, follow the same
semester schedule as traditional courses.
ISELEARNINGFORME?
E Learning is not for everyone. Because e Learning courses offer the
flexibility to fit into a student’s available time schedule, an e Learning
student must have the self discipline to work through the material on a
consistent and regular basis in order to keep up with the rest of their
classmates. Usually, a textbook is required just as it would be in a regular
on-campus program. Although you may not be sitting in a classroom with
other students, e Learning courses are often comprised of a group of
students, called cohorts, who learn the material separately, but
simultaneously and are expected to interact with one another about the
material throughout the week via discussion boards, typically through an
online classroom management system.
PREPARINGFORE
LEARNING
First and foremost, you must apply to the institution and be accepted. For most
institutions, there are application and payment deadlines for enrollment, just like on
campus programs. Typically, these dates are months ahead of the start of a semester.
Make sure that you are aware of these dates and get your information submitted early.
Then, be sure to review the checklist from the link on the left menu. Some institutions
provide online demos of their e Learning system that let you see an example course,
including how the material is presented, the course assignments and syllabus,
communications from the teachers and professors and the discussion board where
you can discuss the course materials with your online classmates and professors.
