First, the essence of technology is not something we make; it is a mode of being, or of revealing. This means that technological things have their own novel kind of presence, endurance, and connections among parts and wholes. They have their own way of presenting themselves and the world in which they operate.

Looking through the exponential looking glassJason Suttie
We are now in what some are calling the next industrial revolution. In this time, we are experiencing exponentials more than at any other time in history. An example of this is the exponential decrease in the cost of solar electricity generating technology: the cost of electricity will, in our lifetime, tend to zero. This not only allows us to solve our own electricity challenges here in South Africa but opens many possibilities on how we solve other challenges such as water security. With the cost of electricity tending to zero the business case for large scale desalination plants more realistic. Given that South Africa has just survived the worst drought in living memory many people are now conscious of water security and are looking for their own solutions.

Volcano, vent in the crust of Earth or another planet or satellite, from which issue eruptions of molten rock, hot rock fragments, and hot gases. A volcanic eruption is an awesome display of Earth’s power. Yet, while eruptions are spectacular to watch, they can cause disastrous loss of life and property, especially in densely populated regions of the world.

This refers to the amount of volcanic activity. “Active” means there’s regular activity, “dormant” means there’s been recent activity but the volcano is currently quiet, and “extinct” means it’s been so long since the last eruption that it’s unlikely to ever erupt again.
Earthquake-induced ground movements have long been considered a secondary effect of earthquakes as opposed to ground vibrations. However, many examples from around the world have shown that their destructive potential can be very high.

Sinkholes are caused by erosion. They may appear suddenly and have devastating consequences. Sinkholes are cavities in the ground that form when water erodes an underlying rock layer. Sinkholes have both natural and human causes. Sinkholes are formed when the land surface above collapses or sinks into the cavities or when surface material is carried downward into the voids. Drought, along with resulting high groundwater withdrawals, can make conditions favorable for sinkholes to form.
A geologic hazard is an adverse geologic condition capable of causing damage or loss of property or life. These geologic processes only become hazards when humans get in their way; if there were no people affected, we would find these natural phenomena interesting, but not concerning. Landslides of all kinds, including seismically-triggered landslides, debris flows, mud flows, and rock falls. Mineral hazards such as asbestos, radon, and mercury. Volcanic hazards, such as ash fall, lava flows, lahars, pyroclastic flows, toxic gases, and volcanic landslides.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

24. OBjECTivES:
explain the human condition before
science technology;
identify the change that happened in
human condition after science and
technology;and
name ways on how technology aided in
revealing the truth about human being.
25. INTRODUCTiON
Comparing the lives of the people before and now
will make anyone realize the changes happened in
the society not just in terms of culture, language, or
rights but more importantly, changes in people's
way of life due to the existence of science and
technology.
26. The term "generation gap" is mainly attributed to
the changes brought about by technology.
Not everyone is comfortable using the different
technologies today mostly people who belong to
the older generation.
The different technologies are a difficult puzzle to
them as they are used living a simple life before.
27. This gap is not something to be worried about and
will not, in any way make technology a villain.
It is more of a challenge for people in the field of
science and technology and to the younger
generations to make these technological
advancement accessible and not confusing for
people who are not as young anymore.
28. Everyone can experience what its like to live with
ease and comfort because of the availability of
modern technology.
People are fascinated by science and technology
even before and this led to numerous magnificent
inventions. Though science and technology
people will get to experience an easier life.
30. Our ancestors primal need to survive paved the
way for the inventions of several developments.

except cave drawings and artifacts that
can narrate how their culture came to be.

33. Soon enough, people discovered minerals and
began forging metalworks.
There are some indicators that humans in the past
share the same concerns and interest, these
inclinations persist through multitudes of
generations over several millennia.
Fur clothing and animal skin, and early accessories.
34. Excavations on the latter part of Stone Age

The initial roster of primitive gods includes objects
that they encounter through their day-to-day
lives.
Different tribes have different gods.
35. Those who have lived alongside majestic creatures like
mammoths and elephants.
Those who have lived in windy places near mountains
might have had a mountain god.
Those who have lived near coastal areas might have
had water gods.
Itmight also be the case that the people of prior
civilization share the same gods.
36. Like the people today, our ancestors also found
the need to explain things in a way that make
sense to them.
Religion remains to be the strongest contender
of science throughout the course of history due
to it being the most easily grasped.
38. Humans were content of their relationship
with nature. Earliest case of man-made
extinction occurred over 12,000 years
ago, possibly brought upon by hunting
and territorial disputes.
The Holocene Extinction is an ongoing
extinction and is a result of human
activity.

67. ESSENCE OF TECHNOLOGY
2. ANTHROPOLOGICAL DEFINITION
Technology is a human activity.
Technology can be
understood based on its
being.
MaRTIN HEIDEGGER
68. Humanity has indeed come along way
from our primitive ways, and has a general
rule, we are more "develop" than we were
before.
We see ways and means from nature to
utilize and achieve growth a goal that we
believe would bring forth betterment.
69. This is the danger presented by too much
reliance on technology: "Human lose track of
things that matter thus, reducing their
surrounding to their economic value.
”
The rapid phase of technological growth
allows NO room for nature to recover.
71. Technology's initial promises proved to be
true regardless of its ramifications.
All in all, the human conditions improved.
Different machineries aid in prolonging lives
and making it easier.
Some place s in the world are sill battling for
their daily survival like diseases, tribe wars,
lack of habitable territories and competitions
on resources.
72. A lot of people still subscribe to religion in
explaining things they do not know.
Through either science of religion, people are
still trying to make sense of their existence in the
world and technology does little to aid them in
their pursuit of life's meaning.
They are still trying to discover and rediscover
things that would give meaning to their life.
73. The human condition is nothing but a
rehashed version of its former self.
While technology offered us one
compelling notion of the truth and the
good, we should staunch in our resolve if
we want to know the real one.
Aristotle's concept of human flourishing.
74. Technological advancements are
occuring in a rapid pace that our
morality cannot keep up.
No such consideration was given in
this approach in achieving a good
life.
