The document discusses the challenges of storing and analyzing big data. It notes that the amount of data, especially unstructured data, is growing exponentially and will require new storage methods. It then describes how dispersed storage technology works by using information dispersal algorithms to distribute and retrieve data across multiple sites with high availability and reliability.
Introduction to both Object Storage generically and SoftLayer's specific Object Storage capabilities. Starts with comparison of Object to Block and File and what it is and is not, moves on to common use cases (Social / Mobile App Storage, Analytic Data Store, Offsite Backup / Archive, and NAS Filer Consolidation), and then to enabling technologies (Storage Gateways, Aspera). Finally, finishes with the Locations, Features, and Pricing, of SoftLayer Object Storage.

12 Architectural Requirements for Protecting Business Data in the CloudBuurst
Designing a cloud data system architecture that protects your precious data when operating business-critical applications and workloads in the cloud is of paramount importance to cloud architects today. Ensuring the high-availability for your company’s applications and protecting business data is challenging and somewhat different than in traditional on-premise data centers.
For most companies with hundreds to thousands of applications, it’s impractical to build all of these important capabilities into every application’s design architecture. The cloud storage infrastructure typically only provides a subset of what’s required to properly protect business data and applications.
So how do you ensure your business data and applications are architected correctly and protected in the cloud?
In this webinar, we covered:
-Best Practices for protecting business data in the cloud
-How To design a protected and highly-available cloud system architecture
-Lessons Learned from architecting thousands of cloud system architectures
Migrate Existing Applications to AWS without Re-engineeringBuurst
Migrating existing applications to the cloud can take weeks, if not months to complete. By moving your existing applications to AWS, you can take immediate advantage of: security, reliability, instant scalability and elasticity, isolated processes, reduced operational effort, on-demand provisioning and automation. But how do you migrate your existing applications to AWS without re-architecting?
In this webinar, we covered:
-Best Practices for migrating applications to AWS
-Design & Architectural considerations for cloud storage - including security and data protection
-How to design cloud storage for applications on AWS
-Lessons Learned from thousands of application migrations to AWS
-Demo: how to migrate an existing application to AWS without re-architecting

Self Service Analytics and a Modern Data Architecture with Data Virtualizatio...Denodo
Watch full webinar here: https://bit.ly/32TT2Uu
Data virtualization is not just for self-service, it’s also a first-class citizen when it comes to modern data platform architectures. Technology has forced many businesses to rethink their delivery models. Startups emerged, leveraging the internet and mobile technology to better meet customer needs (like Amazon and Lyft), disrupting entire categories of business, and grew to dominate their categories.
Schedule a complimentary Data Virtualization Discovery Session with g2o.
Traditional companies are still struggling to meet rising customer expectations. During this webinar with the experts from g2o and Denodo we covered the following:
- How modern data platforms enable businesses to address these new customer expectation
- How you can drive value from your investment in a data platform now
- How you can use data virtualization to enable multi-cloud strategies
Leveraging the strategy insights of g2o and the power of the Denodo platform, companies do not need to undergo the costly removal and replacement of legacy systems to modernize their systems. g2o and Denodo can provide a strategy to create a modern data architecture within a company’s existing infrastructure.
Apache Spark and Apache Ignite: Where Fast Data Meets the IoTDenis Magda
It is not enough to build a mesh of sensors or embedded devices to obtain more insights about the surrounding environment and optimize your production systems. Usually, your IoT solution needs to be capable of transferring enormous amounts of data to storage or the cloud where the data have to be processed further. Quite often, the processing of the endless streams of data has to be done in real-time so that you can react on the IoT subsystem's state accordingly.
This session will show attendees how to build a Fast Data solution that will receive endless streams from the IoT side and will be capable of processing the streams in real-time using Apache Ignite's cluster resources.

Hadoop World 2011: Big Data Analytics – Data Professionals: The New Enterpris...Cloudera, Inc.
This presentation will explore how Hadoop and Big Data are re-inventing enterprise workflows, and the pivotal role of the Data Analyst. It will examine the changing face of analytics and the streamlining of iterative queries through evolved user interfaces. The speaker will cut through hype around “shorter time to insight” and explain how combining Hadoop and SQL-based analytics help companies discover emergent trends hidden in unstructured data, without having to retrain data miners or restaff. In particular, it will highlight changes to Big Data analysis from this paradigm and illustrate stepwise how analysts can now connect to Big Data platforms, assemble working data sets from disparate sources, analyze and mine that data for actionable insight, publish the results as visualizations and for feeding reporting tools, and operationalize Map-Reduce and Big Data outcomes into company workflows – all without touching the command line.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
