Supercharging Self-Service API Integration with AI SnapLogic
Using an AI-Driven Model for Self-Service API Integration Developers must often build new applications that pull together multiple back-end services delivered via APIs. A new mobile app, for example, may need to connect to backend ERP or CRM systems using a variety of third-party APIs, which are then integrated and delivered as a new API that provides the mobile app interface. By applying machine learning to this process, developers can greatly increase the speed and reduce the complexity of API integration and management, empowering non-developers with the benefits of API integration.
This presentation outlines the challenges of API integration in a modern cloud context and explains how developers can leverage machine learning to speed application development, reduce errors and improve security and compliance.

stackconf 2021 | Building the first European open source Edge Computing platf...NETWAYS
Edge Computing is becoming increasingly popular nowadays thanks to the growing availability of cloud, bare-metal and 5G providers offering flexible and affordable access to edge resources around the globe. The idea is based on moving core computational processes and storage to distant locations that are closer to the entities they interact with, like end-users and IoT devices. The benefits come from improving network latency and user experience, reducing security risks, and minimizing data transfers to central cloud locations. Thanks to the €2.1M awarded in 2019 by the European Commission as part of the Horizon 2020 SME Instrument Program, OpenNebula has developed the first open source Edge Computing platform in Europe. This talk analyses the benefits and challenges associated with Edge Computing, introduces the “True Hybrid Cloud” concept, and explores how this new EU-funded Edge Computing platform contributes to consolidate Europe’s digital sovereignty by integrating other relevant European open source technologies and by providing future access to the GAIA-X federated infrastructure.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert

Analytics and Back Office are the current hot investments
Google has 12 datacenter locations http://www.google.com/about/datacenters/inside/locations/index.html and uses 4 of them for GCE (2 in central USA) to form 3 regions.
AWS has ten regions, and has seen rapid adoption that follows launching a local region - e.g. Australia, where the banking system is one of the most advanced users of AWS, as it met a clear requirement to keep their data within their borders.
Azure actually has more regions than AWS, and both AWS and Azure have recently opened in China.
To catch up, we can expect Google to rapidly expand GCE into its existing datacenter footprint in 5 locations. East/West USA, a second site in Europe (Finland and/or Ireland), Latin America, and Singapore.
AWS really needs a second region in Europe, and there have been strong hints that Germany is up next.
The first major public cloud region to launch in Germany, France, UK or India is going to turbocharge cloud adoption in those countries, led by government and finance.
Cloud Foundry has gathered most of the current PaaS endorsements from vendors and end users, as a portable way to keep developers productive and under control. Docker has appeared as a PaaS independent container, and has just added basic communications and orchestration. The trend here is that CF will merge in Docker functionality, but so will other PaaS implementations.
Docker is a developer driven trojan horse while Cloud Foundry has become the incumbent PaaS with ITops approval.
As IT shops struggle to cloudify their existing virtualized infrastructure, the initial attraction of OpenStack confronted the reality that it wasn’t stable or functional enough to make it work without a lot of expensive hiring or consulting. This gave VMware a chance to regroup and get some significant traction with vCHS. Microsoft’s recent removal of the Windows brand from Azure (we do Linux too!) is part of their own play for easy Hybrid Cloud - where to make it work you really want the same vendor for you public and your private infrastructure.
In the end, the growing agility and TCO advantage of public clouds will win. Hybrid will be a transitional state as remaining data centers become tombs for legacy apps.
Eventually, everything that runs in the datacenter will include technology from and be called OpenStack, regardless of who sells it
Everything that can be delivered as SaaS has already been or will be soon
Enterprises are adopting SaaS solutions in a big way
SaaS vendors can and do rapidly go global, following the IaaS land grab
Digital Media & Gaming and Analytics are the current hot investments
Hopefully we can repeat this at Structure next year to see if I was right and find out some new trends.
