How Does Glycolysis Affect Yeast Fermentation
Abstract
Sugars catabolize (break down) through the process of glycolysis. Glycolysis causes the sugar to
undergo fermentation, which yields CO2. In this experiment, different sugar solutions were mixed
with a yeast solution in order to see how fast and if they react to produce CO2. The yeast solution
caused the sugar solutions to undergo glycolysis and produce CO2. Glucose syrup, White sugar,
Artificial
Sweetener all yielded CO2, yet Corn flour did not.
Introduction
The purpose behind this experiment is to identify a correlation between the production of CO2
when yeast is exposed to water and heat. Yeast being fungi requires nutrients (sugar/carbohydrates),
water, heat and oxygen to grow and survive like most other living organism. As a bi product of its
growth the fungi should produce CO2. The experiment involves testing 3 different forms of sugars
and 1 type of flour to show how yeast reacts with each under the correct conditions, then measuring
the amount of gas produced.

A stopwatch set for 15 minutes is placed next to each labelled beaker; the yeast is added to each
beaker along with the water, the beakers are placed in larger containers filled with warm water to

sugar is added to each beaker and the corn flour to the last beaker (control), swirl beaker

Paris Ferrari Research Paper
Early in the morning yesterday, bodies of the banished Romeo montague, lady Juliet Capulet,
and Count Paris Ferrari were found in the Capulet tomb all reported to be dead. Early Saturday
morning watchmen were alerted about a fight happening close to the Capulet tomb between
Romeo Montague, and Paris Ferrari. When watchman came to the scene they found the dead
bodies of Paris Ferrari lying dead in the tomb along with Romeo found dead beside Juliet. Juliet
was found with stab wounds and newly dead. The watchman believe Romeo killed Paris with his
sword and then killed himself with poison due to the traces of poison on his lips. Paris Ferrari
page was on scene and able to comment I was their, Paris was planting flowers on the Capulet
tomb when the vile Romeo came to desecrate the tomb. Paris s love for Juliet made him stand up
to Romeo and a fight ensued, that is when I went to call the watchman. The Prince was able to
comment and said This is a very sad time for both families, and a very tragic event for our city.
They were all very young and had bright futures ahead of them. From the friars story we believe
that the friar gave Juliet a potion to make her seem dead so that she wouldn t have to marry
Paris. He told us that he secretly married Romeo and Juliet and that they loved each other. He
sent a letter to Mantua where romeo was exiled to unfortunately the letter was never received by
Romeo and because of that he came here to kill himself and that was when the fight between Paris
and romeo happened and then romeo committed suicide beside his wife Juliet before she woke up

The case was originally heard in the Federal District Court, and finally decided in the Rehnquist
Court.
Case Brief (3,4,5) Petitioner, Jennifer Gratz, who is Caucasian Michigan resident, applied for
admission for the fall 1995 semester, to the University of Michigan s College of Literature, Science,
and the Arts (LSA) as residents of the State of Michigan. Gratz was told that, despite being very
much qualified, she was being denied admission because her application was not competitive
enough on first review. A class action suit was filed against the University because she felt that she
was discriminated against valid racial and ethnic groups in violation of the Equal Protection Clause
of the Fourteenth Amendment and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
University of Michigan argued that because their school took such an interest in the educational
benefits that ultimately resulted from having a racially and ethnically diverse student body, and that
their curriculum is tailored to serve in that interest. The university also argued that the criteria used

operates a chain of membership warehouses globally. The company offers products quality, brand
name merchandise at lower prices than are normally found at conventional wholesale or retail
sources. The warehouses are designed for small businesses and individual uses.
When consumers think of membership wholesale businesses the first to come to mind is Costco

goods, some of these items are groceries, appliances, media equipment, automotive supplies, you

(Costco.com, n.d.) The company uses several different methods of promoting its items, for
instance, Costco allows their customers to sample many of their products as they walk through
their warehouse. It allows customers to try a product risk fee and many times they end up
purchasing the item because they were able to try it. As stated above, the company doesn t go all
out for their advertising; they truly feel that the word of mouth of their customers is the key to the
company s success. One area that Costco does pay particular attention to, are small businesses;
since small businesses are the company s primary target they make it a point to reach out and
initiate communication with businesses in the surrounding areas. Teams are sent out to recruit
them by utilizing presentations as well as offering discounted memberships for their employees. As
with its marketing strategy, location is not a priority with the company either. The word of
method and low prices will bring in the customers. Basically if they build it the members will
come, the average size of a Costco warehouses is 143,000 square feet but they vary between
73,000 to 205,000 square feet. (Costco.com, n.d.). Currently there are 608 Costco Wholesale
warehouses that span across the globe. In the United States alone, there are 439 locations, 82 in
Canada, 22 in the United Kingdom, 9 in Taiwan, 8 in Korea, 3 in Australia and 32 in Mexico.

The Classic Treatise Evolution By Jay Gould
The late Stephen Jay Gould, a noted paleontologist who once described himself as an agnostic
leaning towards atheism, wrote the classic treatise Evolution as Fact and Theory for Discover
magazine back in 1981. His distinguished career and scientific achievements did earn him respect
amongst his peers, but to the general public he is best known for his popular sciencewritings and, to
smaller circles, as a champion of evolution. As his treatise was written for a non academic, science
themed magazine, a basic understanding of science, and specifically evolutionary mechanics, was
assumed of his audience. The treatise itself is on the often overlapping distinction between theory
and fact ; two words, he asserts, that creationists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And, as colorful exchanges are far more entertaining than dry discourse, it also remains a source of
his popular appeal.
As for addressing fact versus theory, the two keywords in the titular treatise, he is slow to get to the
point. Over the next paragraph he asserts creationists, as a sweeping generalization, have presented
not a single new fact, and they have ...arguments that seemed kooky just a decade ago. This, with
the accusation that creationist s true motivations are political, along with the improper comparison
of scientific creationism to the Orwellian term newspeak, bears no relevance to the denotive
differences between fact and theory in any context. Also, his attacking an opposing stance, and
failing to point out any contradictions or fallacies therein, could be an indication that his own
position lacks substance.
Of course Professor Gould s writings were rarely without substance. He does go on to point out
two creationist s argumentative fallacies and then, finally, he addresses the issue of fact versus
theory. His distinction, summed up both imperfectly and incompletely: a theory is comprised as a
rigid, codified series of explanations of the facts; therefore, the theory of evolution, a consistent
explanation of the recurring trends found in the fossil record, is in line with said facts. It is a

The American Music Therapy Association
The American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) defines music therapy as an established health
profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional,
cognitive, and social needs of individuals . Studies have shown that there are clear benefits from
listening to or playing music, but research over the last decade proves music can be used to heal in
the medical field. Dementia and other neurological disorders have no cure, only treatments to lessen
the symptoms. Music therapyoffers a cost effective and less invasive form of treatment that focuses
on the individuals needs and goals. Music therapy is also a more creative and personalized form of
treatment. This paper will provide evidence to answer the question: Are dementia and other
neurological disorders improved through music therapy?
In this publication, Matthews focuses on the effects of music therapy on dementia patients. He
hones in on a case that was featured in the documentary Alive Inside . Henry, an elderly man with
late stage dementia is given the chance to listen to some music. The music therapist plays his
favorite artist, Cab Calloway and Henry begins to light up, move and remember feelings he had
when he was younger and heard that song. The music therapy didn t restore what was lost but it
was able to have positive effects even after the song stopped. It awakened parts of his brain that
may have been dormant and music helped him bring back old memories. Matthews

What Is James Paul Gee Identity As An Analytical Lens For...
In the article Identity as an Analytical Lens for Research in Education James Paul Gee builds up his
thesis based on the idea of a person being identified in a certain setting, can change at every instant,
and in every context, and is controversial and never static. Gee is trying to infer the idea that the
dynamicity of one s identity is very dependent on the reaction to a certain encounter in a particular
circumstance. Gee mentioned the point that identity is ambiguous and unstable. In my opinion the
society is our identity constructor. And the variance of its element (i.e. human being) can make it
easily unstable. Every person has identity which is made up of different variables, contributed by
the society. Being the dependent

Biological Substances And Its Effects On Bacterial Infections
Introduction: Antibiotics are vastly known to be prominent therapeutic agents used to treat and
prevent bacterial infections. Antibiotics involve chemical substances, either of natural or synthetic
origins, that destroy pathogenic microorganisms with minimal damage to host tissues. These
chemotherapeutic agents combat various diseases by affecting different targets in eukaryotic and
prokaryotic cells. Antibiotics work through several mechanisms of action to combat target
pathogens: (1) inhibition of cell wall synthesis; (2) inhibition of protein synthesis; (3) injury to the
plasma membrane; (4) inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis; and (5) competitive inhibition of the
synthesis of essential metabolites. Despite the availability of... Show more content on

The evolutionary development of these superbugs can be attributed to the global misuse of
antimicrobial agents. The overpopularity and distribution of antibiotics being sold without
prescription to treat minor symptoms including headaches have promoted resistance growth. In
addition, continual consumption and longer dose regimens of outdated, adulterated, and even
counterfeit antibiotics are common. These factors have collectively contributed to the development
of antimicrobial resistance. And hence, new antibiotics need to be produced as potential agents to
address these pathogens. Many antibiotics incorporate chemical substances of natural origins.
Various members of the Streptomyces genus, which account for over two thirds of clinically used
antibiotic treatments, are soil microorganisms. This is just one out of countless microorganisms
that are present in the soil that can potentially have antimicrobial properties just waiting to be
discovered. In addition, soil is one of the most expansive ecosystems that have contributed to the
origins of antibiotic synthesis as well as contribute to the development of thousands of clinical and
medicinal applications. In this experiment, microbial isolates were extracted from various soil
samples, purified, and screened through a variety of antibiotic and genomic processes to determine
antibiotic attributes. These

Essay about The Consequences of Excessive Government...
The fact that there are areas in which government is needed cannot be denied. The state
collecting taxes for the provision of things such as roads, bridges, police departments, fire
departments, or even a safety net for those that fall on hard times, as long as it is well regulated
are all reasonable uses. I will also not deny that there are areas where central government
intervention is needed. Regulation to prevent monopolies, ensuring segregation of public schools
and facilities, and protection of rights, to name a few, are perfectly acceptable functions of central
government. Big government is not the answer, it is actually a big part of the problem, especially

(Cowan, 1985). The economy didn t actually turn around until Ludwig Erhard, German Economic
Director, introduced monetary reform and abolished all of the ACC economic controls (Cowan,
1985). Monthly production skyrocketed to highs not seen even after Marshall plan aid started to
arrive(Cowan, 1985). Doug Bandow, senior fellow at the Cato institute, echoes Cowan s study by
pointing out that the European economy that performed the worst, Great Britain, actually received
the most Marshall Plan aid (Bandow, 1997). Madrick also points to LBJ s Great Society, and FDR
s new deal as big government successes (McKenna Feingold, 2012). There are many economists
that can point to facts showing the New Deal actually prolonged the Great Depression. LBJ s war on
poverty has not decreased poverty. When the war on poverty was enacted the poverty level was
at 6%, today the poverty level, according to the 2010 census, is at 14% (CNN Money, 2010). If
government intervention in the economy is indeed a good thing, perhaps Mr. Madrick can explain
why poverty has increased since the enactment of the Great Society? Madrick believes laws that
call for higher wages and aid in unionization are good for the economy (McKenna Feingold, 2012).

Nearly five thousand years back flourished India s first major civilisation along the Indus River
valley. The twin cities of Mohenjodaro and Harappa now in Pakistan were ruled by priests and
held the rudiments of Hinduism. These civilisations are known to possess a sophisticated lifestyle,
a highly developed sense of aesthetics, an astonishing knowledge of town planning and an
undecipherable script language. The Indus civilization at one point of time extended nearly a
million square kilometres across the Indus river valley. It existed at the same time as the ancient
civilizations of Egypt and Sumer but far outlasted them. Surviving for nearly a thousand years the
Indus valley civilisation fell to tectonic upheavals in about 1700 BC, which caused a series of
floods.
The coming of the Aryans around 1500 BC, gave the final blow to the collapsing Indus Valley
civilisation. At the dawn of Vedic ages the Aryans came in from the North and spread through large
parts of India bringing with them their culture and religious beliefs. The Four Vedas or the
important books of Hinduism were compiled in this period.
In 567 B.C. the founder of the Buddhist Religion Gautama Buddha was born. During this time lived

(The land and People of South Africa) This piece of art is written by a South African poet by the
name of Don Mattera. This poem embellished the distress and hardship that South Africa and the
people of this unique and beautiful land had to go through during the times of Apartheid. During
these tragic times of separation people of South Africa, that were against this racial segregation,
stood up for their rights through many ways such as poetry and petition. Others, such as F.W de
Klerk expressed his dislike for this cruel act of disconnection through politics and made it his goal
to make South Africa racially equal and whole. During apartheid in South Africa F.W de Klerk took
a stand to fight for human rights through tough times of racial separation to equality by ending
apartheid.
Apartheid was a government system that South Africa used from the years 1948 to 1994 ( Frederik

Negative Eugenics
Eugenics will become a universal practice in the future due to the fact that humanity never
learned the lesson from the Holocaust and the Second World War. For instance, in the years
immediately after the war, many American geneticists worked as evaluators for many newborns
adoptive placements. They would focus on the [child] s ability to appear convincingly white,
relying upon examination of the sacral spot at the base of the spine, nose width, lip thickness,
hair texture and shape, and even scrotum coloration to determine the type of family most suitable
for the child. Moreover, Peter Singer, who was a moral philosopher born at the end of the war,
publically endorsed the termination of not only disabled infants, but children and adults as well.
Shockingly, he was also a supporter of the Nazi Aktion T4 program, More recently, an American
jail sterilized all of its female prisoners who both failed to graduate from high school and had five
or more children. The jail administrators did this without the consent of these prisoners. These were
examples of negative eugenics, the one practiced by the Nazi party and caused the deaths of
millions of people. Clearly, the American geneticists, Singer and the jail administrators all wanted
to improve the quality of the population by discouraging the reproductions of people with less
desirable traits, such as African American features, disabilities and low intelligence. Both the
continued practices of negative eugenics as well as

Medical Experiments During The Third Reich
Have you ever heard of the Nazi Party led by Adolf Hitler, the Holocaust, or even the medical
experiments of the SS? Well, get ready to learn about it. Adolf Hitler was an anticommunist that
fought for Germany in WWI. He was the leader of the Nazi s. The Holocaust was a genocide in
which Adolf Hitler s Nazi Germanyand its collaborators killed about six million Jews. The medical
experiments of the SS were experiments performed by doctors on prisoners. During World War II, a
number of German physicians conducted painful and often deadly experiments on thousands of
concentration camp prisoners without their consent. Unethical medical experimentation carried out
during the Third Reich may be divided into three categories. The three categories consisted of
experiments aimed at facilitating the survival of Axis military personnel. The second category of
experimentation aimed at developing and testing pharmaceuticals and treatment methods for
injuries and illnesses which German military and occupation personnel encountered in the field.
While the third category of medical experimentation sought to advance the racial and ideological
tenets of the Nazi worldview (https://www.ushmm.org). Doctors have always been thought of as
the saviors of mankind, the healers, and caretakers of our utter existence. Even ancient
civilizations revered the medicine men as having special power to protect life. The trust of a

Locus Of Control
Introduction
Our perception about where control lies can have an impact on the way we think and the way we
associate with our changing environment, which can affect the way we attribute success and
failure to things we have control over or to situations outside our control. Therefore, the locus of
control we choose has a strong bearing on our long term success. In this essay, I am going to
discuss locus of control, describes what my locus of control score means and details the impact
that I believe my locus of control will have on my success in this degree program.
Definition of terms
Locus of control is a study dated back to 1960s with Julian Rotter s inquiry into how individual s
behavior and attitudes influence the outcomes of their lives. According to Bauer Talya and
Erdogan Berrin (2009), the locus of control is the standard to which people feel responsible for
their behaviors or from the forces that are external to them. There are two sides to the locus of
control, namely internal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The result I got from the test carried out shows that I have internal locus control, which means
that I take responsibility for my actions, whether those actions or the end results come out to be
positive or not, but I will not accept outside influence for the outcomes, no matter what that is.
So, I believe that in this degree program my efforts toward everything I do will count and will
determine the level of success I will achieve. The impact of this decision on my success is that it
will drive me to set achievable goals, study hard, and make every second count toward my
success. Also, my locus of control will influence me to develop my decision making and problem
solving skills in order to gain more confidence and be in control of the situations and lastly, pay

Power of Customers
As the market is not highly concentrated, the volumes of purchases by customer are not really high,
the market products are differentiated, the buyer power is low. The industry has detected that
customers are interested in price and quality, as result of this it has segmented in premium and
budgets wines, giving the chance to every customer to find a wine that adjust to its necessities. But
a fact is that consumers don t know much about wines and this decrease consumption, its necessary
to create more conscious customers that became more regularly consumers.
Threat of substitutes
The threats of substitutes are considerable high due that only 10% of Americans drank wine
regularly; the other 90 % prefers other alcoholic s beverages as beer or whiskey, this lead in a
weakness for the industry and in a necessity to conscious more people of drinking wine, in
addition 80% of wine drinkers think that their knowledge in wine is average or below, that results
decreases consumption because of the lack of knowledge of the different kinds of wine, now the

Accountability Of The Army Is A Integral Part Of Discipline
Accountability in the army is another integral part of Discipline, Accountability as defined
should be understood as responsibility plain and simple. When the army asks a soldier, what is
your accountability? It is merely asking, who or what are you responsible for? It is the
responsibility of the service member to have within himself the desire to care for anything or
anyone that is around him or under his supervision. The great challenge that the army presents to
all soldiers is for them to understand and never forget, is that accountability is never given or in
other words it is not forced to be received, it is an offer is an invitation to remember and to
withhold at all times. By nature, all soldiers struggle with daily written and memorized tasks,
routines that seem to become tedious and nerve breaking at times, and the definition of
accountability at many times seem to diminish in our minds from I need to take care of everything
and everyone around me to did I forget something that benefits myself . Three important words that
easily identify a soldier and that it should make him different from the majority of societies law
breakers, irresponsible, unorganized, immature, selfish, arrogant and pessimists individuals that
consider themselves owners of the land that walk on it but are never willing to lift a finger for the
poor, the needy and the weak. These three words are Discipline, Obedience and accountability.

Visual Imagery In My Antonia
The visual and tactile imagery in Cather s My Antonia highlight the novel s theme of nostalgia. In
the first paragraph of the passage, Jim writes about an afternoon out with Antonia. He describes the
plains of Nebraska, his surroundings, using words of warmth and peace. Jim talks about the warm,
grassy bank, the amber sunlight, and the tall asparagus...lying on the ground. The visual imagery,
displayed in these descriptions, contributes to the theme of nostalgia as Jim reminisces about a
more peaceful and loving part of his adolescence. Through this visual imagery, Jim s descriptions of
his surroundings immerse themselves into the noveland become a character of their own. The sun,

Natural Rights Vs Transcendentalism Essay
The American philosophy of the 18 century emerged as an outstanding phenomenon that has made
an immense contribution to the development of the American state. The two most prominent
personalities with respect to the development of philosophical ideas were Thomas Jefferson and
Ralf Waldo Emerson with their theories of natural rights and the view of Transcendentalism
respectively. While both of their philosophies have developed to become equally important as a
basis of the American country, its principles of life, and the idea of an American person, they
reflect on rather different aspects and promote quite different outlooks on the personality. The
theory of transcendentalism promotes an idea that a person is complete in himself or herself and
needs to listen to his or her intuition and to act in a harmonious way. The idea of natural rights, in
contrast to the previous one, refers to the existence of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The natural rights by Jefferson proclaim that the rights are given by God, and people are not
empowered to break them. At the same time, transcendentalism was developed as a search for
spirituality and the revealing of religion. They examined the role of religion in the life of people
and sought for the ways to reach actual spirituality that, according to transcendentalists, was hidden
in the person s thoughts and soul. At the same time, the transcendentalism and natural rights tend to
be rather different. For example, while transcendentalism promotes intuition and personal thoughts
as the basis for behavior, the theory of natural rights puts the essential rights of people in the center
and claims that all interactions should be based on it. Hence, the transcendentalists might be said to
promote the strong idea of individualism that might have negative implications for the society while
the natural rights theory provides a basis for the harmonious relationship among the people within

Blitzkrieg Impact On Ww2
How did Blitzkrieg impact the battlefields of world war 2 and evolve military strategy ?
(Introduction)
World war 2 was one of mankind s bloodiest conflicts involving some of the biggest battles in
human history. A great part of the war s fatality was the massive development of weaponry and
tactics throughout the war. Humans showed their fullest capability of lethal creativity. Weapons
evolved in ways impossible to believe before, from massive ships with weapons to automatic rifles
world war 2 displayed the biggest weaponry innovation in history.
Along the weaponry improvement came the effective and dreadful tactic called Blitzkrieg , this
tactic which translates into lightning war was a new tactic introduced by nazi Germany during
World War 2, specifically the invasion of Poland and France. The tactic consisted in separating
troops by using focused firepower from the Luftwaffe (German air force) and ground forces with
tanks and artillery strikes. This strikes were delivered at the center of a unit to separate and confuse
the enemy, then since the enemy was disoriented, the troops would penetrate their defences easily.
Blitzkrieg was so successful, it lead to germany ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pets Are Prone At Superficial Skin Injuries
Pets are prone to superficial skin injuries and most owners will encounter a situation at some point
in time involving a cat, dog or other pet that s sustained a wound. Unfortunately, many dog and cat
owners do not know how to properly clean and disinfect a wound or the owner will assume that
the injury will heal on its own, leading to a complete lack of wound care. And too often, a situation
with a wounded dogor cat will end in the veterinarian s office with a pet who s experiencing a
great deal of pain and discomfort from the cut, gash or sore. It s important that pet owners
understand how to perform basic first aid on their animals. It s part of responsible animal
ownership. You wouldn t ignore a wound on your child, so a dog or cat s wound should be
tended to as well, explained Dr. Michael Levine, DVM. If an injury is not treated properly,
infection will result. Signs of infection include pain, swelling and redness, In cases where an
infection has been left to fester and spread unchecked, the pet may need to go under anesthesia for
a complete cleaning of the wound site and removal of tissue that s been damaged by the infection.
In severe cases, the infection can spread from the skin s surface, down into the deep tissues of the
muscle and even to the bone. If the infection encounters the circulatory system, the infection can
turn systemic, resulting in an often deadly condition known as sepsis. To avoid infection, all cuts,

History Of Papio Hamadryas And Theropithecus Gelada
Introduction Papio hamadryas and Theropithecus gelada are commonly referred to as
hamadryas baboons and gelada baboons. These two species are both classified as Old World
monkeys, meaning they share a common ancestor dating back 20 million years ago in Africa.
Having a common lineage usually indicate close relatedness in terms of phylogeny. This is seen
with hamadryas and geladas, they fall under the same order of classification, which is Primates,
down to the same subfamily, known as cercopithecidae. Although having a common lineage allows
them to share certain characteristics and behaviors, these two species of baboons still encompass
divergent qualities. Habitat and Location Hamadryas baboons are found in Ethiopia, Eritrea,
Djibouti, Sudan, and Somalia. Additionally, they inhabit certain parts of the Arabian Peninsula,
like Saudi Arabia and Yemen (Schreier and Swedell, 2012: 581). These areas vary in terms of the
environment; some are filled with green meadows, plains, short savannahs, or sub deserts (Napier,
1985). One can assume that Hamadryas baboons are well scattered in different regions of each
country, however due to limited resources, they are frequently found in water holes. Yet even with
resource limitations, they are still considered highly adaptive primates. Unlike Hamadryas baboons,
Gelada baboons are only found in Ethiopia and Eritrea, therefore there population is less scattered.
Inside Ethiopia is the Semien Mountains National Park, here a majority of

Developing Sustainable Fiscal Policies And Implementing A...
A budget can be described as an allocation mechanism that the Government uses to distribute a
nation s resources amongst different economic sectors that serve or are existent within a
country. The major source of Government resources distributed is taxes paid by resident or
citizens of a given country. A budget is one tool that has a lot of political and economic
significance since it controls a Government s expenditures and it lays out a path that the economy
will follow or at least try to follow in a given year. The Government, being the main board
governing or running a country has a major role of developing sustainable fiscal policies and
ensuring or try to achieve economic growth and it is through budgeting that these goals can be
successful achieved. A budget translate a Government s policies, political commitments, and goals
into decisions on how much revenue to raise, how it plans to raise the revenue, and how to use
these funds to meet the country s competing needs and these may include improving the country s
security, alleviating poverty, improving health care among other things. Budgeting is of great
economic and political significance because a Government s budget directly or indirectly affects
the lives of every citizen or resident. Considering the fact that it is the people that have the power
to decide the political life of the political party running the country, the Government would want to
prepare a budget that directly deals with the issues that are of

LDCT Screening
According to recent studies at Indiana Universty School of Medicine, alternative methods for
detecting non small cell lung cancer are emerging. The current methods of detecting NSCLC may
be effective, but they are also very expensive. One method called a low dose computed tomography
(LDCT) has been successful in identifying malignant tumors. However, routine LDCT screenings
would result in 1.3 to 2 billion dollars nationally in health care costs annually. Deig, Mendonca, and
Lautenschlaeger suggest that pursuing other methods of screening for NSCLC would significantly
decrease this cost. If screenings could be conducted in a cost efficient and effective manner, then
the expensive LDCT procedure would only have to be conducted for patients who... Show more

Biomarkers are natural indicators in the body that respond noticeably to the presence of disease.
By measuring the responses of biomarkers, oncologists detect the cancerous cells before
recommending expensive procedures, rather than immediately resorting to these procedures. One
of these biomarkers that responds to the presence of cancerous cells is microRNA. MicroRNAs
are molecules that are involved in the cell life cycle and therefore the progression of cancerous
cells. A study in cancerpatients was conducted to compare the accuracy of screening with
microRNAs to screening with LDCT. Observing microRNAs did not prove to be as accurate at
identifying cancer as LDCT, but since using microRNAs is a less expensive process, it can
identify patients that should undergo LCDT testing. Screening with microRNA testing initially
would decrease the number of patients paying for LCDT testing. Another biomarker that can be
observed in response to cancer is ct DNA. Ct DNA refers to fragments of DNA from tumors
found circulating in the blood stream. A recent study indicated that observing ct DNA could have
multiple useful applications for oncologists. Ct DNA analysis during treatment could serve as an
indication of how tumors react to treatment methods and whether recurrence is likely. Detecting
ct DNA in the bloodstream could even serve as an early sign of cancer, observable before imaging
tests even show tumors. However, ct DNA analysis has not yet proved to be a replacement for

because is the main and the introductory part to the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. The
founding fathers wrote this right to make sure that United States will be a different country, a
better country where everyone could understand each other and that what happened to them

And also is that the people have the right to have their own type of press to express their ideas.
Today, freedom of press is a utopia because every country has their own secrets, and covers

Main Features Of Romanticism In Literature
Romanticism is a very philosophical and artistic topic in English, it was mainly created during
the 18th century and was influenced by neoclassicism which is the meaning of western visual
arts, music, literature and more. It is the unique style of art, literature and music that shows the
classical side of everything. Neoclassicism was originated in Rome around the middle of the
18th century. Neoclassicism is more based of the ability than the emotion, because the topic is
filled with imaginative thoughts. In all of poetry, there was one very famous verse style that was
used a lot and that was the heroic couplet verse, this style is commonly used in narrative and epic
styles of poetry and keeping the lines rhymed. Friedrich Schlegel was a well known German poet
writer, he was a German man who wrote poets who was born on March 10th, 1772 in Hanover,
Germany. He became famous by being the first person to use the term romantic to define literature.
A big part of romanticismis the famous quotes that inspire the people, one great quote by Friedrich
Schlegel said: literature depicting emotional matter in an imaginative form. Another famous quote
that is similar and is admired by people around the world is one by Victor Hugo, who was a French
poet, the quote said: liberalism in literature . Emotion, freedom, and imagination are probably the
main focus points of romanticism.

As a logical consequence, Postmes and Brunsting (2002) reasoned that the Internet is changing
society because people s cognitive processes, triggered by access to information and
communication, replace the strong social ties that traditionally underpin committed activism. In
simpler words, in the past, humanity used the herd instinct as the main driving force behind
committed forms of activism. Thanks to the Internet, we climb another step or three on the
evolutionary ladder, and simply do away with the herd instinct and replace it with reason. The
argument, if put this way, does not sound particularly strong. What can be taken away is that social
media is still evolving, that social media changes the way we or most of us communicate, that social
media is used in social and political activism, and that the Internet increases quantitative if not
qualitative access to information.

Methods Of Data Collection
Methods of Data Collection Obtaining fake news data sets can be very challenging due to three
reasons. First, deciding whether a news post on social media is fake news or not is highly
subjective. Second, Fake news stories and fraudulent accounts are routinely taken down by
Social Media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, which makes it hard to get historical data
about fake news posts. So, we have used a data set compiled by buzzfeed, where more than 2000
facebook posts were analyzed and labeled based on their truthfulness. To prepare this dataset,
BuzzFeed News selected three large hyperpartisan Facebook pages each from the right and from

best way to access, collect and store data from social media platforms is generally through
Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) [Lomborg and Bechmann 2014]. APIs are easy to
use interfaces that are usually accompanied by documentation that+ describes how to request the
data that one is interested in. They are designed to be accessed by other applications as opposed
to web interfaces which are designed for people; APIs provide a set of well defined methods that
an application can invoke to request data. For instance, in a social media platform, one may want
to retrieve all data posted by a specific user or all the posts containing a certain keyword.
Facebook provides a documented API9 with a set of software development kits (SDKs) for
multiple programming languages and platforms that make it easy to develop applications with its
data. Similar to Twitter API, Facebook also requires registering an application10 to generate the
keys needed to access the API. In contrast to Twitter, most of the content posted by Facebook users
is private and therefore there is no access to specific content posted, unless the users are friends with
the authenticated account.

Modernism In The Odyssey, By James Joyce
Modernism Ezra Pound, a prominent modernist writer, succinctly encapsulated the modernist
movement with his exclamation, Make it new! Modernism rejected the tradition and artistic
confines of the Victorian Period, though one clear start and end of the movement proves hard to
define. The lack of requirements needed for a work to receive classification as modernist
contributes to disputes about the origin and ending of the movement. Modernist artists, especially
writers, had great influence on the artists and art that succeeded them in subsequent eras of art.

versa. By disregarding the chronological order of development of Miss Emily s life, at first
Faulkner gives the reader a finished complexity, and then allows the reader to examine this puzzle
step by step, piece by piece. By doing this, he enhances the plot and portrays two different angles of
timeheld by the characters. The first perspective, the world as the present, shows time as a
progression and the past is a shrinking road. The second perspective, the world of tradition and
the past, views the past as a huge meadow which no winter ever quite touches, divided from them
now by the narrow bottleneck of the most recent decade of years. (5) The first perspective is
based on Homer and the modern generation. The second is based on confederate soldiers and the
older members of the Board of Aldermen. Emily holds the second view too, however for her there
is no bottleneck separating her from the meadow of the past.
Faulkner starts off the story with Miss Emily s funeral, where the men see her as a fallen
monument (1) and the women are curious about the inside of her house. He draws a picture of a
woman who is fragile because she has fallen, but still symbolic and important like a monument.
The particulars of Miss Emily s house are very similar to her and symbolize what she stands for. It
is set on what had once been the most select street. (1) The narrator, which is the

Nitrates In Water
Nitrates in groundwater have become a major issue around the world and have held people back
from drinking clean water. One of the many places being affected by this issue, is a city in the
state of Minnesota by the name, Cold Spring. The main issue for such high capacities of nitrate in
water is cropland agriculture. Cold Spring has had to forcefully shut down a couple of their city
wells due to these high levels of nitrate in their water, leaving the city with a very low capacity of
water to use, and drink. This issue has gotten very far, to the point that the safest level for drinking
wateris 10 milligrams. Drinking water that contains nitrates can be very harmful to the body and
can also develop syndromes in babies. It s not news that

  • 2. How Does Glycolysis Affect Yeast Fermentation Abstract Sugars catabolize (break down) through the process of glycolysis. Glycolysis causes the sugar to undergo fermentation, which yields CO2. In this experiment, different sugar solutions were mixed with a yeast solution in order to see how fast and if they react to produce CO2. The yeast solution caused the sugar solutions to undergo glycolysis and produce CO2. Glucose syrup, White sugar, Artificial Sweetener all yielded CO2, yet Corn flour did not. Introduction The purpose behind this experiment is to identify a correlation between the production of CO2 when yeast is exposed to water and heat. Yeast being fungi requires nutrients (sugar/carbohydrates), water, heat and oxygen to grow and survive like most other living organism. As a bi product of its growth the fungi should produce CO2. The experiment involves testing 3 different forms of sugars and 1 type of flour to show how yeast reacts with each under the correct conditions, then measuring the amount of gas produced. • 7. The Classic Treatise Evolution By Jay Gould The late Stephen Jay Gould, a noted paleontologist who once described himself as an agnostic leaning towards atheism, wrote the classic treatise Evolution as Fact and Theory for Discover magazine back in 1981. His distinguished career and scientific achievements did earn him respect amongst his peers, but to the general public he is best known for his popular sciencewritings and, to smaller circles, as a champion of evolution. As his treatise was written for a non academic, science themed magazine, a basic understanding of science, and specifically evolutionary mechanics, was assumed of his audience. The treatise itself is on the often overlapping distinction between theory and fact ; two words, he asserts, that creationists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And, as colorful exchanges are far more entertaining than dry discourse, it also remains a source of his popular appeal. As for addressing fact versus theory, the two keywords in the titular treatise, he is slow to get to the point. Over the next paragraph he asserts creationists, as a sweeping generalization, have presented not a single new fact, and they have ...arguments that seemed kooky just a decade ago. This, with the accusation that creationist s true motivations are political, along with the improper comparison of scientific creationism to the Orwellian term newspeak, bears no relevance to the denotive differences between fact and theory in any context. Also, his attacking an opposing stance, and failing to point out any contradictions or fallacies therein, could be an indication that his own position lacks substance. Of course Professor Gould s writings were rarely without substance. He does go on to point out two creationist s argumentative fallacies and then, finally, he addresses the issue of fact versus theory. His distinction, summed up both imperfectly and incompletely: a theory is comprised as a rigid, codified series of explanations of the facts; therefore, the theory of evolution, a consistent explanation of the recurring trends found in the fossil record, is in line with said facts. The American Music Therapy Association The American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) defines music therapy as an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals . Studies have shown that there are clear benefits from listening to or playing music, but research over the last decade proves music can be used to heal in the medical field. Dementia and other neurological disorders have no cure, only treatments to lessen the symptoms. Music therapyoffers a cost effective and less invasive form of treatment that focuses on the individuals needs and goals. Music therapy is also a more creative and personalized form of treatment. This paper will provide evidence to answer the question: Are dementia and other neurological disorders improved through music therapy? It awakened parts of his brain that may have been dormant and music helped him bring back old memories. Matthews ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the article Identity as an Analytical Lens for Research in Education James Paul Gee builds up his thesis based on the idea of a person being identified in a certain setting, can change at every instant, and in every context, and is controversial and never static. Gee is trying to infer the idea that the dynamicity of one s identity is very dependent on the reaction to a certain encounter in a particular circumstance. Gee mentioned the point that identity is ambiguous and unstable. In my opinion the society is our identity constructor. And the variance of its element (i.e. human being) can make it easily unstable. Every person has identity which is made up of different variables, contributed by the society. Being the dependent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Antibiotics involve chemical substances, either of natural or synthetic origins, that destroy pathogenic microorganisms with minimal damage to host tissues. These chemotherapeutic agents combat various diseases by affecting different targets in eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. Antibiotics work through several mechanisms of action to combat target pathogens: (1) inhibition of cell wall synthesis; (2) inhibition of protein synthesis; (3) injury to the plasma membrane; (4) inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis; and (5) competitive inhibition of the synthesis of essential metabolites. Despite the availability of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The evolutionary development of these superbugs can be attributed to the global misuse of antimicrobial agents. The overpopularity and distribution of antibiotics being sold without prescription to treat minor symptoms including headaches have promoted resistance growth. In addition, continual consumption and longer dose regimens of outdated, adulterated, and even counterfeit antibiotics are common. These factors have collectively contributed to the development of antimicrobial resistance. And hence, new antibiotics need to be produced as potential agents to address these pathogens. Many antibiotics incorporate chemical substances of natural origins. Various members of the Streptomyces genus, which account for over two thirds of clinically used antibiotic treatments, are soil microorganisms. This is just one out of countless microorganisms that are present in the soil that can potentially have antimicrobial properties just waiting to be discovered. In addition, soil is one of the most expansive ecosystems that have contributed to the origins of antibiotic synthesis as well as contribute to the development of thousands of clinical and medicinal applications. I will also not deny that there are areas where central government intervention is needed. Regulation to prevent monopolies, ensuring segregation of public schools and facilities, and protection of rights, to name a few, are perfectly acceptable functions of central government. Sea and sand My love My land, God bless Africa (The land and People of South Africa) This piece of art is written by a South African poet by the name of Don Mattera. This poem embellished the distress and hardship that South Africa and the people of this unique and beautiful land had to go through during the times of Apartheid. During these tragic times of separation people of South Africa, that were against this racial segregation, stood up for their rights through many ways such as poetry and petition. Others, such as F.W de Klerk expressed his dislike for this cruel act of disconnection through politics and made it his goal to make South Africa racially equal and whole. During apartheid in South Africa F.W de Klerk took a stand to fight for human rights through tough times of racial separation to equality by ending apartheid. For instance, in the years immediately after the war, many American geneticists worked as evaluators for many newborns adoptive placements. They would focus on the [child] s ability to appear convincingly white, relying upon examination of the sacral spot at the base of the spine, nose width, lip thickness, hair texture and shape, and even scrotum coloration to determine the type of family most suitable for the child. Moreover, Peter Singer, who was a moral philosopher born at the end of the war, publically endorsed the termination of not only disabled infants, but children and adults as well. Shockingly, he was also a supporter of the Nazi Aktion T4 program, More recently, an American jail sterilized all of its female prisoners who both failed to graduate from high school and had five or more children. The jail administrators did this without the consent of these prisoners. These were examples of negative eugenics, the one practiced by the Nazi party and caused the deaths of millions of people. Natural Rights Vs Transcendentalism Essay The American philosophy of the 18 century emerged as an outstanding phenomenon that has made an immense contribution to the development of the American state. The two most prominent personalities with respect to the development of philosophical ideas were Thomas Jefferson and Ralf Waldo Emerson with their theories of natural rights and the view of Transcendentalism respectively. While both of their philosophies have developed to become equally important as a basis of the American country, its principles of life, and the idea of an American person, they reflect on rather different aspects and promote quite different outlooks on the personality. These two species are both classified as Old World monkeys, meaning they share a common ancestor dating back 20 million years ago in Africa. Having a common lineage usually indicate close relatedness in terms of phylogeny. This is seen with hamadryas and geladas, they fall under the same order of classification, which is Primates, down to the same subfamily, known as cercopithecidae. Although having a common lineage allows them to share certain characteristics and behaviors, these two species of baboons still encompass divergent qualities. By measuring the responses of biomarkers, oncologists detect the cancerous cells before recommending expensive procedures, rather than immediately resorting to these procedures. One of these biomarkers that responds to the presence of cancerous cells is microRNA. MicroRNAs are molecules that are involved in the cell life cycle and therefore the progression of cancerous cells. A study in cancerpatients was conducted to compare the accuracy of screening with microRNAs to screening with LDCT. Observing microRNAs did not prove to be as accurate at identifying cancer as LDCT, but since using microRNAs is a less expensive process, it can identify patients that should undergo LCDT testing. Screening with microRNA testing initially would decrease the number of patients paying for LCDT testing. Another biomarker that can be observed in response to cancer is ct DNA. Ct DNA refers to fragments of DNA from tumors found circulating in the blood stream. A recent study indicated that observing ct DNA could have multiple useful applications for oncologists. Ct DNA analysis during treatment could serve as an indication of how tumors react to treatment methods and whether recurrence is likely. Furthermore financial resources are very expensive since lenders perceive that the expected margins are difficult to get; thus it is hard for smaller companies to access financial markets (Colonna 2003). The entrepreneur / designer will need to look for a godfather the support from one of the big groups. As Muriel Zingraff, Harrods director, observed, We may have more patience with smaller brands if they are owned by a parent company, such as LVMHor the Gucci Group. (Sherwood 2001, ... As a logical consequence, Postmes and Brunsting (2002) reasoned that the Internet is changing society because people s cognitive processes, triggered by access to information and communication, replace the strong social ties that traditionally underpin committed activism. In simpler words, in the past, humanity used the herd instinct as the main driving force behind committed forms of activism. Thanks to the Internet, we climb another step or three on the evolutionary ladder, and simply do away with the herd instinct and replace it with reason. The argument, if put this way, does not sound particularly strong. What can be taken away is that social media is still evolving, that social media changes the way we or most of us communicate, that social media is used in social and political activism, and that the Internet increases quantitative if not qualitative access to information. The 2011 uprising in Egypt was in many ways a traditional brick and mortar revolution, but with a cyber twist to it: based on their statistical analysis of a large body of tweets related to the 2011 uprising in Egypt, Starbird and Palen (2012) observed that activists used Twitter as an important tool to share ideas and information with like minded people, because Twitter allows a high number of activists interact using its retweet and other mechanisms. In this case, Twitter was used among participants and supporters of a traditional mass movement to bypass government controlled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Methods Of Data Collection Methods of Data Collection Obtaining fake news data sets can be very challenging due to three reasons. First, deciding whether a news post on social media is fake news or not is highly subjective. Second, Fake news stories and fraudulent accounts are routinely taken down by Social Media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, which makes it hard to get historical data about fake news posts. So, we have used a data set compiled by buzzfeed, where more than 2000 facebook posts were analyzed and labeled based on their truthfulness. To prepare this dataset, BuzzFeed News selected three large hyperpartisan Facebook pages each from the right and from the left, as well as three large mainstream political news pages. All nine pages have earned... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Data Collection with Facebook API The best way to access, collect and store data from social media platforms is generally through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) [Lomborg and Bechmann 2014]. APIs are easy to use interfaces that are usually accompanied by documentation that+ describes how to request the data that one is interested in. They are designed to be accessed by other applications as opposed to web interfaces which are designed for people; APIs provide a set of well defined methods that an application can invoke to request data. For instance, in a social media platform, one may want to retrieve all data posted by a specific user or all the posts containing a certain keyword. Facebook provides a documented API9 with a set of software development kits (SDKs) for multiple programming languages and platforms that make it easy to develop applications with its data. Similar to Twitter API, Facebook also requires registering an application10 to generate the keys needed to access the API. In contrast to Twitter, most of the content posted by Facebook users is private and therefore there is no access to specific content posted, unless the users are friends with the authenticated account. ... Modernism rejected the tradition and artistic confines of the Victorian Period, though one clear start and end of the movement proves hard to define. The lack of requirements needed for a work to receive classification as modernist contributes to disputes about the origin and ending of the movement. James Joyce, a landmark modernist, proved this true by defying the typical structured a short story and single narrative style within a novel. • 42. Theme Of Time In A Rose For Emily In A Rose for Emily, Faulkner uses the aspect of time to accentuate details of the setting and vice versa. By disregarding the chronological order of development of Miss Emily s life, at first Faulkner gives the reader a finished complexity, and then allows the reader to examine this puzzle step by step, piece by piece. By doing this, he enhances the plot and portrays two different angles of timeheld by the characters. The first perspective, the world as the present, shows time as a progression and the past is a shrinking road. The second perspective, the world of tradition and the past, views the past as a huge meadow which no winter ever quite touches, divided from them now by the narrow bottleneck of the most recent decade of years. (5) The first perspective is based on Homer and the modern generation. The second is based on confederate soldiers and the older members of the Board of Aldermen. Emily holds the second view too, however for her there is no bottleneck separating her from the meadow of the past. Faulkner starts off the story with Miss Emily s funeral, where the men see her as a fallen monument (1) and the women are curious about the inside of her house. He draws a picture of a woman who is fragile because she has fallen, but still symbolic and important like a monument. The particulars of Miss Emily s house are very similar to her and symbolize what she stands for. It is set on what had once been the most select street. (1) The narrator, which is the ...
