The document summarizes the steps taken to create a contents page for a magazine. It began with adding a header with the magazine name in the house style colors and a single letter "B". Next, information like the date and black rectangles with white text for section headings were added to identify features and give a professional look. Images, page numbers, and a subscription offer were also included to further enhance the professional appearance and attract readers. The overall goal was to design a realistic contents page that followed conventions of music magazines.
2. The thing I did in the production of my contents page was start to create a header. I used house
style colours and a single ‘B’. This is to represent the name of the magazine and create continuity
in the overall production. Then, I added ‘New This Week’ to show that the page is a contents.
3. Next I added a date underneath the header. This was so that the reader knows when the issue was out
and it also to make the magazine look more professional.
4. Then, I added a number of black rectangles to the page which would act as headings for
different features such as ‘news’. This also makes the magazine look more professional as I have
modelled my magazine on ‘NME’ magazine in order to make the magazine believable and
realistic.
5. Next, I added text into the rectangles relevant to the features that would be in a music magazine of my
chosen genre. I made the text in the rectangles white against the black background in order to make
the important features stand out. I also, created page numbers in red text for the same reasons. The
page numbers also show that it is a contents page and makes the page look more professional.
6. The next stage of production was to add a subscription offer to the contents page. This adds to the
professional look of the page as well as offer readers to pay for more issues. On the subscription, I also
added a website for my magazine to suggest that my magazine is genuine and professional. In addition,
I print screened an image of my front cover and minimised to place on the subscription offer.
7. Next, I added an image that had been previously edited in Photoshop (using the Magnetic Lasso Tool)
to be my main image on the contents page. The image is of the same model on the front cover of the
magazine to highlight that it is the main story of the magazine. I then added another rectangle using
the rectangle tool on Photoshop to see how the layout of the contents would look initially.
8. I then created another feature and image in the bottom right corner of the magazine separate from
the other features. This is to highlight it’s importance and to attract the reader attention after seeing
the main image. Also, by using a female model it shows that my magazine should appeal to both
genders.
9. I also wrote a small introduction to my double page spread again using the house style colours for
the text and background. This is to show professionalism and is conventional on music magazine
contents pages. I added page numbers as well which shows how the two pages are connected and
will help to establish that the pages are from the same magazine.
10. Finally, I added a small border around the main image and introduction to the double page spread
article. This was to draw attention straght to the main focus of the magazine.
