Location Resources  - Oil, Natural Gas, Silver, and Copper Relative Location to Compass - South of Colorado and Kansas - Southeast of Kentucky - North of Mexico and bordering Mexico Longitude and Latitude of Phoenix, Arizona - 33 degrees North - 112 degrees West

Movement Why have people started to live in this region? - People have chosen to live in this region  because they found land and then kept  walking for a while and then stopped and  then started to live. How are things transported? - Things are transported by rivers and  highways but mostly airplanes because the  mountains.
Movement Customs from this region - The Hohokam who dug complex  irrigation systems in central Arizona. - The Anasazi, who erected cliff houses in  northern Arizona and New Mexico, Utah  and Colorado. What Might happen if one of the transportation routes got interrupted? - If one or more of the transportation  routes were interrupted, the people might  not get mail because it is hard for a  mailman to drive all the way through the  mountains.

Regions  Unique characteristic of the Region - Arizona, Oklahoma, and parts of New Mexico  were part of Mexico before the Mexican- American war. What economic impact does the region have on the U.S. economy? - The Southwest’s Economy has an impact on  the US economy because the Southwest  Region gets money from all of the national  parks they have and then they give some to the  US and they might make goods with some of  that money.

Place Climate - Most of the Southwest has a dry, arid,  desert climate What effect does climate have on settlement patterns in the region? - The climate affected the settlement  patterns for the Southwest region  because if some people did like the hot  weather they wouldn’t want to live there.  They would keep walking until they found  weather that they like.
Human Environmental-Interactions Economic Issues - The tornadoes can ruin the crops and  then people won’t be able to get money  for the crops. People could then starve. What effect does climate have on settlement patterns in the region? - The climate can affect the settlement of  the Southwest because if it is too hot for  some people, those people won’t live  there.
Human Environmental-Interactions How has pollution affected the lives of the people in the region? -  Pollution could affect people’s lives because  global warming could take effect in 20-30  years. Then it could get so hot in some  places that people might not be able to live  there all year.
