ECO is the Environment and Conservation Organisation of New Zealand, founded in 1971 as CoEnCo and became ECO in 1976. It is a non-profit network of over 60 organisations that works to care for and conserve New Zealand's natural environment. ECO's work is carried out mostly by volunteers and supported by a small office in Wellington. The natural environment is important to New Zealand's culture and economy, which is why ECO works to protect it for current and future generations.
